I like the fact that they look more "civilised" and low key, than the ordinary military combat pants. These pants can be used in almost all types of scenaries.
Great review! Here's a different take on those back pockets: What you consider to be a drawback, I find to be a huge advantage. You see, if you add flaps to the back pockets, from a design perspective, you should also add them to the side cargo pockets. If you add all those flaps, and you have the ultra-wide beltloops on a pant that's painted in some sort of tactical color, you lose the covert trait of the pants. I for one really appreciate the covert factor of these pants. Keep the reviews coming, I love them! All the best.
Thank you - - superb review mate and love the ‘Out-takes’! Thinking of getting the Apex but in the shorts down here in 🇦🇺 for the very reasons you mentioned (more refined tailored fit/mechanical stretch canvas) without being OTT-Tac for everyday-urban-missions. Probably will end-up getting the pants too. I have some of 5.11’s older Tac-Lite Pro gear (we’re talking 10yr+) and it’s still going strong. Their gear is hard-wearing! After all the washes, the material seems better with wear and more comfortable. Only problem is, I’m fitter than I used to be so about to give them away to charity; hence why I need to buy more clothes 🤣 Stay safe everyone 🤙🏼
Great review Bryan! Cool pants! I have been considering for couple weeks of buying some more discreet and less tactical looking trousers. By this far my top choices have been the Tru.Spec 24/7 series and maybe Helikon-tex UTP but those 5.11 ones look like a good option too. Thank you for the tip :) Have a great weekend Bryan! As always, big thumbs up!
Love my Apex pants as well. Got all the colors except the black one. They're not overly tactical looking due to the the discreet zippered cargo pockets and has a slimmer fit compared to their previous designs. Great review!
Nice pants. I just tried them on at Greentop and really liked them besides the no-closure back pockets. Btw, why do you prefer a Multi-clip vs a regular holster clip? I couldn't ever get mine to work right.
I ordered a pair and the stitching started to fall apart at the knee after one day in an office setting and one wash. I emailed 511 over a week ago and havent heard back. I expected more for $80.
They are a bit more on the "tactical" side with standard cargo pockets on the sides though it does have the split pockets inside them and velcro covers but they dont stick out far not big and bulky by any means the back pockets are covered though unlike those it also has these weird but handy little pockets on the front on the pants i use for my pens on one side and my edc knife on the other.
Hi Brian, I ordered a pair of these pants and just received them today. So far they are very nice. The only question I have is how do you wash these pants? I can't find a use and care tag on them anywhere and because of the Teflon coating I want to make sure I wash them correctly. What is your suggestion?
Best pants out that you still need to review are KUHL. Many colors and def don't scream tactical. 5.11s are still too baggy and look sloppy to me. KUHL even surpasses the overpriced TAD Gear pants and those are cool.
I'm an RSO at a big range down here in the Tampa Bay area, and I wear "Tactical Pants" everyday....Tru-Spec Ascent pants are by far the most comfortable on the market hands down, only downside is they are a little baggy (like the old school cargo pants in the 90s) and have them in 3 colors...I'm always in the market for a new pair of pants so i tried the 5.11 stryke pants, and I must say they come in a close 2nd...The pockets are better placed and more thought out, with the only downside being a tad heavier material (1 to 1.5 ounces) and not as much leg room as the Ascents...I'm usually a 30-32 but because 5.11s tend to run shorter and shrink a tiny bit, so i got the 30-34s to make up for any shrinkage...I switch back n forth between the Strykes and Ascents for work...I recently just purchased a pair of 5.11 Ridgeline pants which you should definitely look into....they are becoming a new favorite in the 5.11 line!....Great video my good man and keep up the good work!!
Good except for the lack of fastenings on the back pockets which are really essential - must have a safe wallet pocket. Also could do with a clip for hanging keys down into the right-hand pocket without actually wearing the pocket out.
Great review Brian, What do you think the best 5.11 pants are for hot and humid climates ? I am outdoors for work and doing physical labor... I went to 5.11 retailer to buy the Fast Tac. But the sale man told me the Fast tac will be to hot&sweaty because the material doesn't breath. He told me the Stryke are best. I was getting the feeling the sale man was trying to up sale me. Thanks for your help and reviews.
Nice review Bryan! You need to check out the 511 ridgeline pants. They are my favorite. More of a dress pant and I wear almost everyday. I have 5 pair so yes I have a problem. Thanks again! Your Delta buddy MD!
I get Tru-spec 24\7 pants on Midway USA for anywhere from $33 to $45 all day long! I have never seen 511 come anywhere near being sold for that price. I would try them out if they were competitively priced.
Survival On Purpose They are very nice! I just saw some today at a surplus store and I like them but they were full retail price. Got to wait for a good sale
I like your belt.. Where did you get it ?? Would the Apex pants make good work pants ?? With the tefflon, Do they breath and stay cool ?? Have you reviewed the Smart Holster ??
Here's the belt: ruclips.net/video/-19qOTwb_fc/видео.html The pants are pretty cool, but I have not worn them in really hot weather yet. And I have not seen the Smart Holster, but I don't see me changing from my Hawg Holster. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
I know this is relative and subjective, but how would you feel wearing these pants in summer conditions? Are they breathable? Heavy vs light wieght? You mentioned they were 6 Oz canvas, but it's a bit difficult for me to conceptualize what that feels like or compare to. I live in S. Fla where it's summer 360 days of the year. Thanks.
I live in SFL and had these for a couple of years. They are my favorite sailing pants for long days on Biscayne Bay. I have used them for hiking trips as well as kicking around town.
I got spoiled on the front phone pocket on the ascent pants. really sad these don't have that :( also like their knife pockets right behind the main pocket. not going to ever be able to wear anything else for my normal everyday pants.
By the way , I stopped carrying a phone in the back pocket after batteries started exploding and or burning because they get broken. Side thigh pocket or clipped to belt is safer by far. Just an FYI. Peace
Here is my video on the pants ruclips.net/video/KR5v6YjniMs/видео.html And here is the Amazon link that supports the channel (and me): survivalonpurpose.com/Tru-Spec-Ascent
Is it really ok to wear these even though I'm not a cop or a vet? Even in the city? I'm considering to buy 5.11 amd propper pants that don't look too tactical to wear them in the summer because they are fresh.
Survival On Purpose what I was thinking is that since I'm not part of the tactical community I shouldn't wear these. these type of pants are really better for hot weather.
Those are some snazzy pants, but I agree the back pockets are a drawback, why didn't they include a zipper for the lower half and a button for the upper half?
I´m wearing those pans right now and I love them too! You forgot to mention the little "handcuff-key-pocket" on the lower left leg, look inside ;-) Best wishes from Leipzig - Germany
Hey Brian, what is the name of that sleeping bag company that you were repping that had really affordable down bags? I think they were located in Utah? Can you reply with that company's name? Thanks.
I wear slim jeans like the Levi's 511. I wear a 34x30 and that's what I wear for the Apex Pant. Does anyone else have the same size as me? I feel like I should've got a 34x32 instead. It feels a bit too short
i thumbed it up. good review on the cargo pants line. do you think the crotch inseam is tight? reason i ask is my husband wants some of the "Ridgeline" 5.11 Tactical pants, but TNP says that they are tight in the crotch inseam? my husband doesn't like a tight inseam in the crotch area. do you think the cargo pants have a roomy inseam? have you tried the "ridgeline" 5.11 pants and if so do you know about the inseam in those? thank you, mr. brian
Very good video, thank you. I have a question about where you talk about the "stretchiness" of the. How stretchy are the legs? As a practitioner of taekwondo, my first concern is my ability to kick high in pants. Do these allow you to be limber enough to stretch your legs out well?
Before you start buying 20 pairs you might want to check on my video first. Gideons tactical does not seem to believe me. But these pants are not very durable I work at a retail job and they cannot hang with the everyday use I put them through. So if anyone else is reading this be worn 5.11 is getting desperate reaching out to these RUclipsrs. But I do believe their prices have come down since they were first released.
Those slacks are really handsome on you. The fit is perfect. You could wear them in more dressy situations; like going out to dinner, a party, Boy Scout Awards ceremonies. I think you now have two types of pants for different uses. Please report on how these hold up after 6 months or so. Thanks for reporting on a basic clothing item. I don't see such videos very often.
in my opinion "tactical" clothing has always stood out like a sore thumb no matter how they try to tone it down. I've always gotten by with a pair of Wrangler cargo pants and I can buy me four or five pairs for the price of a pair of those. If .511 gave me a pair I wouldn't say no.

Apex are my favorite pants hands down.
I have them in almost every color they offer
I have a pair of these and wear them working in the bush in Africa and can confirm they are super comfortable
I love 5.11 pants, they can be worn with tactical vests for patrols but also with a dress shirt for more discreet environments.
They are perfect. Two months in a raw and still no negative impression.
Good to know

I agree
Wore this and very similar pants throughout my career being sent around the world 100% god given pants 😂
another good option if u don't need the cargo pockets are the vertx delta stretch pants. I have two pair and absolutely love them.
I like the cargo pockets
Nice pants. I just tried them on at Greentop and really liked them besides the no-closure back pockets. Btw, why do you prefer a Multi-clip vs a regular holster clip? I couldn't ever get mine to work right.
I absolutely like my Ulticlip.
@@SurvivalOnPurpose Maybe I need to give it another try. I could never get it to fasten securely. Might have been my belt was too thick.
It is really designed to clip to your pants behind your belt. I wear mine next to a belt loop and it works perfectly.
@@SurvivalOnPurpose Ok. Thanks.

You could also put a RATS tourniquet in the sleeve inside of the waist band.
I use James Lovell's method ruclips.net/video/xaan6-VEYro/видео.html
Those look slick and your spot on, they are tactical without making ya look like you're going to war....spiffy Brian.
Thanks!
I trusted you on the Tru-Spec Ascents and love them! I think I'll give these a try too! Thanks for the videos!
You will be glad you did.
Not sure if this was mentioned in previous comments, but there are also handcuff key holders at the bottom of the pant leg as well.
Godo point
If you haven't try out the 5.11 strike pant. By far my favorite of the 5.11 pants
+Anthony Butler I may check them out.

'Almost too mah knee...'
Her four favorite words.
😄
I own 6 pairs of 5.11 taclite pro pants, it's my preferred brand. Very durable. Great video Bryan.
I need to check that style out
Irish Zombie Nation those are great pants though if I could make one complaint it would be that they need shorter inseams for us Hobbits.
Are they better for winter or summer?
Hi Brian, I ordered a pair of these pants and just received them today. So far they are very nice. The only question I have is how do you wash these pants? Reinforced pockets for your EDC knife
*laughs in emerson G10* we'll see about that.
Way to work the runway Brian!
I forgot to spin
Just the pants I'm looking to buy and what'ya know... Your amazing video review came out in the top results 🥰
Excellent review
nice pants, love the zipper fitted cargo pockets, with the pockets inside, cool pants, cool idea's.
I agree
gosh bryan all the ladies are gonna click on this one with a saucy thumbnail like that

Looking forward to the Survival On Purpose 2017 calendars

You forgot about the little pocket at the bottom of the left leg. Inside the bottom of left leg.
I didn’t forget. I didn’t know about it. Thanks for the tip.
@@SurvivalOnPurpose Lol it took me a while too, my girlfriend works at 511 and she's the one who showed me.

Good except for the lack of fastenings on the back pockets which are really essential - must have a safe wallet pocket. Also could do with a clip for hanging keys down into the right-hand pocket without actually wearing the pocket out.
True
Are these made overseas like the rest of their clothes ? It is very hard to find clothes made in the U.S.A.
