Great description of both pants…..I have three pairs of the Stryke Pants and think personally they are better than jeans easy to wear comfortable look great a pockets for anything an everything….not cheap but you get what you pay for 😊👍
I really appreciate the video man. I've been wearing the tac lite pro for the past couple years since i work on the road doing installations (non Military just local government). What sold me on the tac lite pros was the durability and comfort. They don't seem to stain or stay stained by oil etc, either. I do a lot of work on my knee's (i know there is a joke here lol) and they seem to hold up nicely. My only complaint about the tac lite pros really have been that they dont seem to breathe as well as i would like. The Stryke Pant seems lighter but for $20 more seems steep. I think ill try one pair to try for the upcoming summer. Thank you for the video again, it [the video] really helps when you're talking about throwing $70 at one pair of pants.
Belt loop hole at the front is for clipping a badge . Great video. I too love the stryke pant. Never owned the taclite. Im sure I would like those too.
We had the Taclite Pro as an uniform pant but the colors faded right away and the material was pretty lightweight. We switched to the Stryke pant and they are holding up much better. Color is not fading and the material is a lot stiffer and heavier. Overall, I think the Stryke is a much better built pant, especially for daily uniform use. However, for better comfort and just more light duty use, the Taclite Pro is great because it's a lot softer.
Extra button for the gut, holds AR mags, and done two open top small pockets, which is what I carry mags in on my Taclite Pro, along with closed top holding another one. Will have to try the Styke now, i like the open top small pockets better than the velcro
I have both pants. The Stryker is ridiculously comfortable. On to the negative you can see the wear with each wash - the material looks great upon purchase and just starts fading to garbage. I love these pants enough that I could live with the negatives if they were just cheaper. For the price, the negatives I mentioned shouldn't exist.
Hoffa45- I have to full agree. The Stryker pants feel great. However after only a few washes (yes in cold water) the color was noticeably faded (I wear black & blue). For the price it's a real bummer.
Like you, I own multiple pairs of Tactite Pros (4) and have been wearing them for approx. three years. They've been my favorite "go to" daily pants but have recently decided to try the Stryke model for all of the reasons you said and have a feeling I'll be donating a pair or two of my Taclites to the local veterans group. Great review.
I have both too but I prefer the tac lite pro. Reason is, is I carry a g43 in an iwb holster and with the rear pocket angled, it makes for easy access to my wallet.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video - it was very helpful. I really like the Tactile Pro but I'm not a huge fan of those slanted rear pockets. Not sure why they would appear more threatening than the standard flapped pocket. It was helpful to confirm with the tunneling expanding waistband, 5.11 still kept a belt loop at the sides in the 3 o'clock position. I need that for holster support. Other brands that went to the tunneling waistband removed that loop and my OWB holster will flop over a little.
In 2016 I started a job at a car wash and the uniform (shirt and pants) were 5.11, company provided too. I became spoiled and grew so attached to the Taclite Pro pants we wore on a daily basis. Company eventually sold to a bigger car wash who wanted us to dress more professionally. Bye bye Taclite Pros, hello slacks. It was very upsetting. Just got a new job working in HVAC, I knew I needed some sturdy work pants and the first thing I thought of was 5.11. Went to a work clothing store yesterday and didn’t see any Taclite Pros in stock, but found the Stryke pants and thought I would give them a try. They seem to be of the same quality of the Taclite Pro. We’ll see how much use I can get out of them when I start.
Stryke pants are nice looking and very comfortable but lack in durability. Stretch material is nice but not durable. I own a pair and after a single hike through woods some bushes and such terrain area that got caught on branches pulled the stitching. If your familiar with polyester and the wear on it. Stryke pants does ware out the same way. They're very fragile. For the price they're worth the money if your looking for a casual wear in city, but for outdoors activities hiking/training and such stay away taclite pros are a tank in that field.
spoke1183 honestly in my experience i have been hiking in my stryke for a while and I got caught up by some branches but never had a problem with the pants, maybe it is just a case of a faulty pair of pants in your situation i believe
Excellent presentation!! Thanks to you I'm now sold on Stryke. I like my Taclite Pro but the cargo pocket around my knee... The higher location and other amenities of the cargo pocket is a winner. I'm also looking for the lowdown on the new Ridgeline as a more subdued look.
Saw these at Gander Mtn. the other day and wanted to do some research before I took the plunge. The Taclite Pro's always looked goofy and way too dorky/"tacticool" for me to be wearing on an average day out in town. The Stryke Pants look great and are functional too. Great vid!
survivaleveryday Haha yeah. The TacLites are ok for fishing/hunting days for me but for normal days I prefer the Strykes. My favorite pants now. Going to buy a few more colors when funding permits!
Stryke pants have double material at the knee and built in knee pad pockets. That is the primary reason I am choosing the Strykes. Going to try to protect what remains of the function of my knees. Good review overall, thank you for the comparison.
You should buy a pair of 5.11 TDU Pants, same style of pockets as the Stryke pant but the rougher material. The TDU pants also have the inside pockets in the legpockets. When I bought my TDU pants they came with kneepads in them which have been useful. Only thing missing on the TDU is the admin/knife/phone pocket. But that is not a problem. That pocket is a bit conspicuous it gets a little more attention too an already tactical dressed person. FYI. Some information I got from a 5.11 employee here is that the strap on the taclite pants is a heritage from the older versions when 5.11 still made climbing pants and tactical clothing, for those operators that repel/climb needed a strap to hook carabiners in for storing them, easy access still to them when needed.
5.11 Taclite Pro are my most recent favorite pants. They are amazing. In black, and indoors, the pockets are not very noticeable. The cell phone pocket fits my Samsung Galaxy S4 comfortably. The phone helps to hide the outline of my pocket pistol which is right behind it in the other pocket. I like the deep rear pockets, and I see nothing wrong with them. Unless you couple these pants with a matching 5.11 shirt, the average person just sees a nice pair of cargo pants. A matching shirt, however, would make it look like a uniform.
Super helpful! I just found out I have a discount with 5.11 and need tactical pants for work. I previously would have gone for the cheaper option always, but knowing the Stryke is worth it and I get it cheaper, totally gonna do that. Hopefully the women's version also holds up 😬
I'm a carpenter and I have had these pants for 8 months and they are great I am constantly catching them on stuff and the ripstop fabric holds up fine the only weak part I find is the crotch is wearing out on them I clear about 5 miles a day roughly
I have to agree that the Stryker Series is worth the extra $. The stretch fabric is invaluable, the extra cell pocket is a plus, but the extra cargo pocket within a pocket is really useful; more than I first thought. finally the smooth waistband makes the pant look far richer than the bunch band.
Just bought my first Strykes and am happy with them. They feel snug, yet flexible when moving. They also have an inner knee pocket for pad. Teflon finish for stain and soil resistance.
Taclite pro velcroed pocket in front is a good mag stow pocket, the handle and deep pocket in the rear can be for large flashlight carry w/o it dumping. The taclite fades after washing easily, my only complaint. I've made my shorts with them with the hem to my liking (longer) wear good, and don't stain real easily. 39$ each
FYI. the strap on the back right is designed for stowing a climbing pick, not as an emergency handle (although it could be used for that). Thanks for the vid.
Also one use for those little molle type loops on the belt loops, would be something you could rig 550 cord or something similar too, for those they make carry fixed blades in their pocket, something to retain the sheath after your draw.
Mine are still going strong, although I do have some small holes in the knees, of course I spend a lot of time in rocky areas or shooting from kneeling
Good video thx. You could also mention the teflon that protect agains water, oil and other things. What i like are the pockets for the neopren knee protectors.
I'm a woman and I use these pants for work. The Stryke pant is a major improvement from the Taclite Pants. The comfort waist is way better than the old elastic waist. Big improvements with all pockets in general, but I have to say the cargo pockets, in the womens model anyway, are smaller and tighter. I suppose that could be good for holding gear, but its annoying if you are going in and out of your cargo pockets. The 5.11 TDU pant is my all time favorite. Huge cargo pockets and comfort waist.
Belt loop loop is also useful to clip a Flashlight like a ProTac or similar light which you might want handy instead of affixing a holster to your pants for the holster. I know I prefer not to have a stupid looking flashlight holster on my garrison belt.
Great video bro! I'm looking at the Stryke and Apex since I have several Taclite Pros. The ripstop on the Taclites are better than anu I have worn in the Army.
Good Review, I was planning to get the Taclight pro, but after watching your video, I'm now convinced the Stryke pants was way better and is definitely worth the 20 bucks. Ganna get it :)
I bought two pair of the Stryke pants. I have an athletic build and found that the crotch rides VERY high. Very uncomfortable! I also don't like the back pockets. They are also high and small with a clamp like velcro closure which makes retrieving your wallet a pain. Even more of a pain putting it back. Save the money and stick with the original 5-11's. Reply
I'm kind of over the Taclites. They were good back in the day, but now there are too many other better options. They would be good pants with a better pocket layout. The cell phone pocket is too small for today's larger phones and the larger cargo pockets could use some dividers. And if you have a knife, light, etc in one of those front pockets its darn near impossible to get your hand into them. They fixed a lot of that with the Stryke pants. Good vid though.
I have 3 pair of taclite pro pants and I absolutely hate hate the elastic bands in the waste. I carry inside waist band and unfortunately with these pants the normal waist size I wear in pants is actually about 2 sizes smaller due to the elastic. Its uncomfortable even without my ccw on my waist. Im tempted to try the stryke pants because they do not have the elastic but I feel the price is a little ridiculous for how thin the fabric is...
Mac, thanks for the excellent video! Now that you have had a chance to wear them and put them through their paces for a year, do you have an update on how they wear? is the Stryke's durability worth the extra $$? Thanks.
Hey there, they wear pretty similar to each other I personally find that I get a little more durability out of the styke around the cuff area - my older taclites got shredded up pretty good in this location
Thanks for the demo. is that Stryke pant a coyote brown or battle brown or khaki . I check out 5.11 home page an saw picture of the stryke battle brown, saw they have coyote but had no image AV, was not sure looking to see if it is or come in coyote brown ? if not will have to contact them to find out....
Enjoyed your video! I bought several pairs of 32" waist Stryke and Taclite Pros. The elastic waist band of the Taclites would start to dig into my skin after long day and be unfomfortable. The Stryke pants dont. I called 5.11 customer service and they said I needed the next size bigger which is 34". I placed the Taclite pants on top of the Stryke pants and the waist size was definately smaller despite the fact that both models are maked 32"! So i bought 34" Taclites and that cured the problem, but the 34" was even baggier than the 32". Strange thing is the Stryke pants were fine at 32" So I guess I wear 32" Strike and a 34" Taclite. Have you had this happen?
well i have a one pair of the shorts but they are modeled after the taclite pro not the stryke pants...don't get me wrong they are great shorts but if they release a stryke version of the shorts those are going to be total win
It's like comparing leggings to carhartt lol taclite pros I've had for a year and I worked at the ports on boats wearing them in the heat and warn them through the winter they're great for all weather gear and durable as heck and very stain resistant
FYI I just picked up a pair of these stryke pants and the fit is the same old baggy 5.11. I wouldnt recommend these, especially given the price. Maybe for larger guys they fit better but I am a 30/30 and these are so baggy and out of proportion like all the other 5.11's Ive worn. Not sure where people are getting the "slimmer fit" idea from. The waste fits fine but its almost as if they just take the legs from a larger pant and cut them shorter and stick them on the smaller pants. No taper at all, the leg opening looks as wide as the top of the leg and it just looks stupid. Waste of money. Funny how some clothing companies cant figure out that if you have a smaller waste and shorter legs then you probably need slimmer pant legs too.
David Jeez. Louise fella. You have 1 major malfunction. Only 1. Gain weight!! Your way to skinny!!!!! I’m being dead serious!! From your well thought out well typed comment I read you pretty good. HARD CORE MUSCLE!!!!
Just checking in on how these pants held up? Im looking to purchase these as hiking and bushcraft gear. I have been doing so much research on pants that will survive what Im doing with them and are practical. I have found some pants aimed at bushcrafting and hunting but they want outrageous numbers for each. Thanks for the video great comparison.
You should definitely address the sizing between the two. I wear the Strykes as well as other newer models like the fast-tac urban pants on a regular basis and I always buy them as size 36x30. My brother wears the taclite pros for work a lot and he handed off a set to me because we were the same same size. To my surprise, the taclite pro pants didn't fit at all (couldn't close the button). I compared and the sizing labels were identical (36x30), but in my research 5.11 claims that their pants run a size large (36=38 real world). This doesn't seem to be the case with the taclite pro pants. They seem to fit real world sizes (36=36 real world). I wonder if this has to do with what you mentioned about them being an older design, and even though they still make them, they never changed the sizing? Just something that might be important to address and compare for yourself.
Hey, nice video. I was wondering how the sizing is with the Stryke pants for you. I got a pair of 5.11's TDU pants with a medium waist size (supposedly for 31.5"-35" inch waist) and I'm size 32. They are a little tighter around the waist than I would have hoped. I was just wondering what you thought because I noticed that the TDU and Stryke pants have the same waistband style.
Hi i need your advice.. i wear 42.. i need something that is loose and comfortable especially at waist hips and thigh... which 5.11 model do you recommend... i need something for a oversized man... not fit cut... please advise
Are the Taclite Pros the exact same size as the label? Most pants are vanity sized - so a 34 labelled pants is really 36" in the waist. Thanks in advance.
I have both, and both are good. The additional vertical sleeve on the stryke pants is perfect for a dump pouch. The stryke pants look sharper, but i prefer the back slash pockets on the taclite pro. Also I prefer that the cargo pockets on the taclite pro are a bit lower Both great pants though, and a great review on your part
I have the strikers but I use tac/ tac pro for work there not around town pants Security / uniform Officer work / bodyguard work / I use the 5.11 just because we have to ware GAY ASS CLASS A SHIRTS WE Finley got tactical class a shirts but still when tucked in the 5.11 pants makes my life easy Worth ever penny.
Great description of both pants…..I have three pairs of the Stryke Pants and think personally they are better than jeans easy to wear comfortable look great a pockets for anything an everything….not cheap but you get what you pay for 😊👍

I believe the vertical loop within in the stryke belt loop is for a carabiner with your keys on it
I have both pants. The Stryker is ridiculously comfortable. On to the negative you can see the wear with each wash - the material looks great upon purchase and just starts fading to garbage. I love these pants enough that I could live with the negatives if they were just cheaper. For the price, the negatives I mentioned shouldn't exist.
Did you turn the pants inside out before washing them as per the washing instructions?
Hoffa45- I have to full agree. The Stryker pants feel great. However after only a few washes (yes in cold water) the color was noticeably faded (I wear black & blue). For the price it's a real bummer.
Yes, turned inside out. These are NOT fade resistant. The material does a poor job at taking the dye.
The strap was designed for carabiners! It is not a pull strap. 5.11 were designed by Royal-Robbins as mountaineering pants, not tactical.
I wear the EMT Pants and they also have the strap. I actually thought it was made to clip a radio on, it works really good for that.
I need that for holster support. how they hold up?
We use these as our uniform pants in corrections. They're pretty comfortable thank God cause we work a lot of 16 hour shifts
thankful for your video You have taken me out of doubt as to which of the two to choose Thanks a lot
Stryke pants are nice looking and very comfortable but lack in durability. Stretch material is nice but not durable. Mine last two to three years before replacing got 10 pants when it was on sale for $59
How about the sweat factor I am looking work pants the are durable and sweat resistant
***** Thanks man, hope they work out for you!
That reenforceed little bottom section on the pocket is for racking your slide with one hand in the event or injury/whatever
Saw these at Gander Mtn. the other day and wanted to do some research before I took the plunge. The Taclite Pro's always looked goofy and way too dorky/"tacticool" for me to be wearing on an average day out in town. The Stryke Pants look great and are functional too. Great vid!
thanks bud, I totally agree...I completely stopped wearing all of my taclite pro pants for that exact reason
I total agree with you. And that strap on the back pocket was always strange me!
survivaleveryday Haha yeah. The TacLites are ok for fishing/hunting days for me but for normal days I prefer the Strykes. My favorite pants now. Going to buy a few more colors when funding permits!
you can always convert your taclite pro pants into shorts :-)
5.11 was originally a rock climbing company. The strap on the back of the tac-pros are actually for part of a climbing rack.
Mall ninja...OUCH! How do they hold up in the wash, shrinkage?
Stryke pants have double material at the knee and built in knee pad pockets. That is the primary reason I am choosing the Strykes. Going to try to protect what remains of the function of my knees. Good review overall, thank you for the comparison.
You should buy a pair of 5.11 TDU Pants, same style of pockets as the Stryke pant but the rougher material. The TDU pants also have the inside pockets in the legpockets. When I bought my TDU pants they came with kneepads in them which have been useful.

My favorite feature of the tac lite is the mag pouch. I like the stryke, I have the shorts. But I wish the left mag pouch was on them.
I'm a carpenter and I have had these pants for 8 months and they are great I am constantly catching them on stuff and the ripstop fabric holds up fine the only weak part I find is the crotch is wearing out on them I clear about 5 miles a day roughly
The two vertical loops on the front belt loops can serve as badge holders.
I have to agree that the Stryker Series is worth the extra $. The stretch fabric is invaluable, the extra cell pocket is a plus, but the extra cargo pocket within a pocket is really useful; more than I first thought. finally the smooth waistband makes the pant look far richer than the bunch band.
The front belt loop is for attaching a law enforcement badge holder. Nice review.
Great review Sir. Thanks for taking the time.
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I think this has swayed me enough to make start switching to the Stryke style pants. Thanks again for a great video!
39$ each

Sam Hade Cool, thanks for the input

I believe the strap on the back right is for clipping climbing carabiners to
Also one use for those little molle type loops on the belt loops, would be something you could rig 550 cord or something similar too, for those they make carry fixed blades in their pocket, something to retain the sheath after your draw.
Thanks for taking time to review. Quite useful.
the strike are pretty good on my waist, for what its worth they are more loosely fitting than the taclite pro for sure in a good way
I have both and love both.. The stryke's are more comfortable for sure. Love the strechy material..
I have two pair of Taclites. Wear well with no tears or holes. I did notice shrinkage in the legs.
Mine are still going strong, although I do have some small holes in the knees, of course I spend a lot of time in rocky areas or shooting from kneeling
I've now both taclite pro and strike on 5.11 all are good fit and feel comfortable for me the design is unique.
That was extremely helpful, thanks a lot!
+WernerKlorand you are very welcome, thanks for watching!
You should try and get a pair of PSNI issue 5:11 pants. They are awesome and unique with pockets etc.
Good video thx.
You could also mention the teflon that protect agains water, oil and other things.
What i like are the pockets for the neopren knee protectors.
The loops on Strike pants Are for a badge to clip too.
Another improvement in my opinion is the cargo pockets have been moved up for easier access. I always choose my Stryke Pants over my Taclite Pants.
The stryke are just like a more comfy casual look but sacrifices durability
Good Review, I was planning to get the Taclight pro, but after watching your video, I'm now convinced the Stryke pants was way better and is definitely worth the 20 bucks. Ganna get it :)
I wish you would show the colors close up as the pictures on the web site are often deceptive. Otherwise good video.
My local store (non-chain store) that retails 5.11 gear has a big sale every year on May 11th.
Taclite pro is more my style, I need the durability they offer. I am hard on my pant material, taclite pro for sure.
The stryke pants also have knee pad pockets on the inside of the legs
Held up well so far, only had about a weeks worth of wear though so far though.
Just frendly reminder you are the best
good overview, thanks for the upload
I like the Stryke PDU Class B Cargo Pants and I like 5.11 Stryke
you know that makes sense since its 5.11 day thanks for the heads up.
Reply
That "Pull" is not a pull. It was designed for placing caribiners while climbing.
Update on how they've held up?
1:15 pullstaps in a fight makes you vulnerable. Why i chose the stryke streamline
Thank you for a thorough and informative review.
thank you for watching!
A good concise review. Thanks.
Ok, you got a sale. I bought one of each!
Excellent review. thanks bro
Ah yes honestly I found that pocket after I made the video, sneaky sneaky - thanks friend
well i have a one pair of the shorts but they are modeled after the taclite pro not the stryke pants...don't get me wrong they are great shorts but if they release a stryke version of the shorts those are going to be total win
what about durability of pockets ?
the taclites stand out as tactical pants. the Stryke look more covert.
Pack on I’d say, oh, about 45 pounds. Then your pants 👖 & Shirts 👚 👕 👔 will fill out so very good.
So, start with upping your calorie intake to, oh, run 🏃 it up to 3,500 calories. Per day. Download the Under Armor app. It’s outstanding for keeping track of all calories and fat intake.
Now me on the other hand I’ve used the app to assist me in losing a total of 45 pounds. In 6 months and 3 weeks.
David Oh. You won’t be worried 😟 😟 😦 😟 😦 😧 😧 😦 about “Tapering In Legs” if you will do just what I’ve told you to do. If we knew each other and you lived near us here in North Dakota I’d take you under my wing. Train you and all the weight you would pack on so fast!!!!! Would become ALL MUSCLE!!!! HARD CORE MUSCLE!!!!
Awesome video thanks! But what is a mall ninja?
Ha i looked it up! Using it from now on
My duty pants. I love them.
Maybe I missed it in the video, but how do the Taclite Pro sit? Cut wise
+Adam Seeley I believe I still have 2 pairs of these, they hold up really well except for mine are all frayed at around the bottom cuff from use.
I'm a 34, and recently started carrying a gun. Would you recommend sticking with 34 or go with 36?
Hoffa45- I carry a G22 & a G43 depending what I am doing & have not noticed a difference in my normal size (40).
Get the size up. You can use a belt most days anyways.
As much as I love Taclite pros Strykes are definitely more comfy.
I put my two way radio on the loop that's on the front belt loop
Hey, nice video. I was wondering how the sizing is with the Stryke pants for you. I got a pair of 5.11's TDU pants with a medium waist size (supposedly for 31.5"-35" inch waist) and I'm size 32. They are a little tighter around the waist than I would have hoped. I was just wondering what you thought because I noticed that the TDU and Stryke pants have the same waistband style.
Hi i need your advice.. i wear 42.. i need something that is loose and comfortable especially at waist hips and thigh... which 5.11 model do you recommend... i need something for a oversized man... not fit cut... please advise
not bad review but missed the fact that the cargos on the stryke are on the thigh vs pros are more on the knee.
front loops are to hang a badge from.
Excellent review!
Great video.
thanks friend
Are they going to discontinue the taclite? Or just going to continue to make both, at least fro now? anybody know?
Doesn't your local store have a big sale (30% off) on May 11th?
Hey mac, what color are the taclite pros. Nice review btw
Hey man thanks! I believe they are Coyote.
Also I prefer that the cargo pockets on the taclite pro are a bit lower
Both great pants though, and a great review on your part
I have the strikers but I use tac/ tac pro for work there not around town pants Security / uniform Officer work / bodyguard work / I use the 5.11 just because we have to ware GAY ASS CLASS A SHIRTS WE Finley got tactical class a shirts but still when tucked in the 5.11 pants makes my life easy Worth ever penny.
What is that strap about?
Thanks! Great review!
