Great chopstick story. It made me laugh out loud. Love these car tours you do. It really gives us a more complete picture of the way people live in Mexico. Applied for our passports last week. Looking forward to coming to Mexico this winter!!!
Good day to you and your wife is allways nice to see and listen to you is really good that a person like you and your wife show us art of Mexico and also all around you guys go tanks much.
Hi Guys that was fun and we have the best a "Chaperone " how awesome is that........ that means The Lady of the house is feeling better..... thanks for ride along beautiful places... and yes I do love to here the Birds....... thanks again

I too have lived in several other countries, and unless you get out and learn their language, and customs you are just a tourist. Keep up the good work!
Great story about Calvin. I'm glad you showed the map because I always thought Ajijic was on the east end of the lake. I guess it is Spanish/Mediterranean tradition to wall off the houses. Makes you want to climb up and peek at them because I know some of them are really beautifull. I know, a drone! You don't see that here and walls can only be about six feet or less only done in the backs of houses. Maybe five feet?
Hola Jerry and Lynn, I really like the photo of you two, superimposed on this weeks video. Great smiles! The plaza in San Antonio is very tranquil usually during the day. It is spotlessly kept, and very family oriented. I enjoyed the ride and look forward to see if the new camera mount defeats the cobblestones when it arrives.

Tlayacapan. That truly is hard to pronounce. My tongue would be in traction if I tried to say Tlayacapan backwards. 🤣 The guitar music is very relaxing. Awesome video as always. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The "tl" in aztec words is easy just say tleh example Xiuhcoatl is pronounced "shoe-co-a-tleh". Tlayacapan is pronounced "Tla-yah-kah-pahn" not like pan. More like pawn but more of a Ah sound. In Spanish the A is more of an Ah or Aw sound not A-e sound.
Jerry thank you so much for doing these tours! As a child my father would take us kids in the car and go exploring. At the time I couldn't stand going, now I have such fond memories. There was always something interesting to see, some hidden gem, or a place that needed to be fixed up but had "possibilities". I am retirement age and love to drive around and explore neighborhoods, so this is fantastic that you are doing this. I can't wait to find out where we are going next and what interesting places we may see!!

I loved Spain. Spent some time in Malaga, Grenada, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville. Ronda! Have you been to Ronda? Oldest bull ring. Restaurant patio hangs over a 1500 ft deep barranca.
@@JCTravelStories Haven't been to Ronda yet, but it's on the list. Hubby had some medical issues so relaxing for a while. We live just east of Malaga. Great idea about the maps, was just thinking that same thing when you said "a viewer..." lol (don't forget you could also just show the area on Google maps). Another video idea; I was looking around the Lake Chapala area at the many towns/cities all the way around the lake, if and when you can, you & Lynn could tour around and show us all just a little bit about each town. I realize it's not a small lake (I live in a city on Lake Simcoe in Ontario Canada, so I understand the size.) but that should give you lots to do!! Really enjoy your "down to earth", not "hyped up" videos. You have inspired me to want to make a trip in the future to the Lake Chapala area. Thank you. Hi JC, what a beautiful day there and here, for about the past week rain clouds and some rain, the sun could only give us a peak. We have plans to go to lunch and have Mexican food today. Nice story about the chop sticks and enjoyed the ride to pick up your package, it's like paying double for mail when picking it up in those mail box places, but maybe a good thing too. Hello to Lynn have a wonderful day.☕️🌻 P.S. Checking out what you received in the mail and how they work out. Thank you!
Awesome chopstick story. I was a kiddo on Guam during the Viet Nam war. Becoming self-aware there, I was the minority. Funny how much of the less developed world often still has a well developed sense of humor. Hey, I noticed looking on Google Maps that lots of homes seem to have solar hot water and solar electricity. Do the solar electricity systems help will that bill much, since it seems like electricity there is pretty cheap?
Actually, electricity here can be very expensive. Its a tiered system. High kilowatt users can pay 4 times as much as the lower consumers. Solar makes more and more sense as the cost comes down. Short of several years of recouping the cost, it may just give you green bragging rights.
Hate to keep bugging you, but while in Ajijic I was so impressed with the quality of Mexican craftsmanship; the masons, the painters, the people working in wrought iron, etc, etc. Might it be worth a video in homage to the people in the trades in Mexico? I think people in the US who are used to sloppy, semiskilled work might be interested to see “old world craftsmanship” in the new world
Good idea, James. Hopefully, they notice some of that in my own house when I'm sitting on the couch. A tour of a welding shop where they custom make doors, windows, stair cases, etc would be interesting. :)
Not that I know of. Mexican families are large and young couples often live with parents. Tiny just doesn't fit the culture. Expats usually have houses way bigger than they need because they can afford them. I'll keep my eyes open. I am attracted to the idea of the movement. Its kinda simpatico with RV living .... which I love. :)
Having visited Lakeside twice I am enjoying your tales and info. I am planning to visit again after vaccines are available and then move there fall of 2021. I have several questions of you pertaining to your videos and my eventual move there. 1. What camera system do you use? Do you have a video describing you camera and techniques? I know how rough the cobblestone roads are and your videos are pretty smooth. 2. Where do I learn about; can I drive my RV trailer down when we move to Lakeside and use it or sell it there? Also my truck is 10 years old and I know I can't sell it but could I use it and run it until it is worn out? 3. Lastly, how good would Lake Chapala be for wind surfing and kayaking?
Love your stories/driving around/touring with you in your car! I was watching another channel and the person went around a corner that had a beautiful mural on a wall. There was some sort of description under it but they didn't keep camera on it long enough for us to read it! At least to pause it so we could decipher what the mural was about. Just a suggestion to you when you come across "works of art", please focus on description, label, etc. Thank you so much and stay healthy so can continue your mission! Sending energies!
Ok Jerry, I think I can help you say Tlayacapan without your tongue getting all twisted. You know how to say Maya, right? Now say Tlaya the same way. Tlaya. Now, the second part. You know how to pronounce Cap´n Crunch, like the cereal. Now put those two together and say Tlaya-Cap´n. There you go, TlayaCap´n! I love the houses in upper San Antonio de Tlayacapan! Great video.
The more I watch the more I like you! Someday; if I ever get an extended time off and get to spend it in that area; I hope to meet you and buy you your favorite beverage. You just seem like a hoot to spend time with.
Another fun tour- thanks! I'm sorry map version 1 was such a hassle. Sent you a link to short video I made on how to add computer-based maps quickly and easily. Hope it's helpful! :)
@@JCTravelStories Yay! You can always point the camera at the screen, but I think you'll find the things you can do with the screen recorder are very cool, and easy too. :)
Enjoyed your video. Can you do one on buying property n MX? I’m still trying to figure out how expats can buy property in MX. ? Everything I have researched says only MX citizens can own land. 🤷🏽♀️
Not true. Old wives tale. The restricted zone which is about 50 km from the ocean or the border requires title to be held by a Mexican bank trust or a Mexican citizen. That leaves 95% of the entire country where foreigners can hold title by direct deed. I'm one of them. I have two. :)

I keep a text file of video suggestions I like. You're on the list! Its getting to be a long list. I'll be busy for years. :)
has the tiny house movement reached that area?
Not that I know of. Mexican families are large and young couples often live with parents. Tiny just doesn't fit the culture. Expats usually have houses way bigger than they need because they can afford them. I'll keep my eyes open. I am attracted to the idea of the movement. Its kinda simpatico with RV living .... which I love. :)
It appears there are many casitas in tha area to rent (both short and long term)...am I correct? For 1-2 people these seem to be perfect.
Great video Jerry! You can use an external mic to reduce external noise
Good morning JC!
Thanks for the suggestion, Chayo. :)
My caption read clock upon! Close!
Thanks! At least I spelled it right. :)
Jc I love you!
The more I watch the more I like you! Someday; if I ever get an extended time off and get to spend it in that area; I hope to meet you and buy you your favorite beverage. You just seem like a hoot to spend time with.
I'll look forward to it. :)
Can you please give a complete tour of your Monaco....also what year is she???? Thank you
Our Monaco Windsor is a 2001, built when quality was more saleable than bling. :)
I Thank you & I love all of your videos along with all your valuable knowledge !!!!
Another fun tour- thanks! I'm sorry map version 1 was such a hassle. Sent you a link to short video I made on how to add computer-based maps quickly and easily. Hope it's helpful! :)
Yes, I've practiced with google maps now ... easy peasy.
I have two. :)
didn't think that they still.made paper maps. made me think to ask...GPS.can you use it to find your way around the different areas of chapala? thanks again for the videos
Yes, GPS and google maps works well in Chapala. :)
I wonder how does one acquire such a map....I was in Ajicjic a couple of weeks ago and will be returning after the holidays...That map would be so useful!
You can get it on your phone via Google and it will look like that "click!"→ www.google.com/maps/@20.3007769,-103.2614588,16z or you can buy a guide with several maps "click!" → sombrerobooks.com/?p=92 via Amazon → www.amazon.com/Lake-Chapala-Maps-Tony-Burton/dp/0973519118 [ no responsibility is taken for the correctness of this information]
I got that one for free from Ajijic Realty, but it was a few years ago. Don't know if they still have them or give them away. :)
