Just order my today and I cannot wait to have her in my hands....after viewing many image galleries of the top DSLRs I realized this is the camera for me...the colors, the sharpness, its dynamic range looks perfect in my eyes. I have been using a 6D for the past 4 years so I can see this wonderful beast serving me minimum 4 years or longer. There are a few functions that would be nice to have like eye focusing, zebras, etc...but is not something I could not live without.
Hopefully, you're still rocking the good ol' 5D mark IV @Anthony M 👍 It's interesting to see how the direction of the camera industry have shifted since the release of this camera.
Watching a Canadian say AA, and Moire all in one sentence made my head spin and then I laughed exactly like you did. It sounded like you said "eigh-eigh" or eh', eh' and more-eh'! Haha, all joking aside great review and since we never see snow unless above 5,500ft here in Southern California, so that was also nice to see for a change. I'm very late to the party here with the 5D Mark IV and have a funny or crazy backstory. You said the D800E/D810 outdid this camera, and I agree for most specs, but I will also admit I have owned two D850's, I own two D6's and I had three different D500's over the years. Yet, I don't like Nikon mirrorless, so I'm slowly switching to Canon the cheap and fast way, while I wait for a deal on the R3. My local store that our newspaper's have an account at, could've given me one the other day (An R3) however it was technically spoken for by a Non-CPS member and the store obviously has to make money, so I'm the slow train waiting for an R3 at the cost price we get, which is likely 10% above actual dealer cost, we only get this deal becasue we have so, so much gear and buy and sell gear every year as we slowly upgrade. We have Z9's, but I can't stand them, the noisy files and EVF both are not great, I much prefer my D6. However the R3 specs are much closer to what I prefer, low noise/great DR at High ISO in low-light conditions I often find myself in, nearly daily (every other day?) as a photojournalist. Some days you get 3 assignments and some days we just listen to scanners/radios and self dispatch ourselves from home to breaking news, such as wildfire's, shootings, murder, etc., etc.!
Ty that was very helpful I just received this camera for Christmas after buying the 6D Mark III brought that one back because I wasn't happy with that one at all
This guy is good. He's one of the very best I've listened to on RUclips photography videos. A fair degree of his comments I didn't understand - they are simply beyond my range at present though I have about 3 years of rather intense effort in photography. It takes time to absorb it. I just wish I could be around him for a month or two.
Excellent appraisal, hand-in-hand, in terms of sheer quality, with the tests and reviews DPR made. It is a pleasure when reviews are product-centered and not brand driven, showing us the positives and negatives of a camera. Kudos!
Thanks NimbusKhan, I certainly tried to show both the negatives and positives of the camera and not focus too heavily on brand loyalties - not that I hold any :P
nice way of reviewing a camera - hands on with lots of info, video, and stills - not just 24 hours of testing before rambling on about the negatives and not just a fan boy praise - but based on actual use over a month of shooting - great work - thank you
Ruben, that's exactly what inspired me to create this video. I'd watched countless 'review' videos from people who had literally just said goodbye to the Fedex driver - people who hadn't taken the time to actually use or evaluate the camera personally and would just regurgitate specs in a create manner. I'm glad to hear you liked it :)
Excellent work. Probably the most honest and unbiased review on youtube right now. I own the Mark IV and I just have one note. You don't necessarily need to transcode the 4k footage. I can fluently edit the files on Premiere (including adding filters and transitions etc) without having to transcode. 0 dropped frames. The catch is you do need a powerful computer to pull it off. That and the amount of storage needed are, for me, the only real problems with the 4k on the Mark IV. The workflow is challenging but the quality is amazing.
Very true NMR. I too have no issues editing 4K footage in real-time without the need to transcode. However, the storage is ridiculous! The quality is good, but quality versus data rate is unacceptable. The 4K Blackmagic URSA mini captures CinemaDNG RAW at 265MB/s and the quality is miles better than the 5DmarkIV. I realize the URSA mini is a dedicated video camera, but there are people who purchased the 5DmarkIII and markII primarily for video use and I can't see anyone picking up a 5DmarkIV solely for capturing video when there are better options at a comparable price point.
But there are those like me, you need a reflex for both stills and video, and this is the question that I currently have. The 5d markIV suits me for the photos, but especially the 1080p video is not the greatest quality, true?
True. The Panasonic GH4 is a fair comparison, but I don't consider the Sony A7 series competitors - their battery life, over heating sensors and overall reliability are too much to ignore.
Neil, that time lapse of the northern lights was astonishingly beautiful. I grew up in Saskatoon and this whole review, while excellent, became a giant memory-lane trip for me. This is the second time I`ve watched this review through; just super useful - many thanks. This review, and Dustin Abbot`s and Tyler Stahlman`s reviews, are all so, so good. Why are you all Canadian?
Stumbled upon this video today. Fantastic! Neil your camera presence and video/editing skills are superb, you really should do more of these videos, you could get quite a following. Subscribed.
I'm only a few years late in replying, but thanks for the kind words @Mike Dixon 👍 It's been quite fun producing video like this, but boy doesn't it take a bunch of time to make them 😆😆😆
WOW! Well done, Mr. Fisher. Your hard work (in producing this excellent review) has been my deciding factor in taking the plunge. I'll be upgrading my 7D Mark II for this new @CanonCanada 5D Mark IV. Your video has also made me homesick, thank you. (from just north of Regina) Calling Mum now.
+Glen glad to hear it was helpful. It's been well over a year since picking up my 5DmkIV and I still very much enjoy using it. I'm a SK transplant and am originally from the west coast - but love the prairies just as much as the ocean. 😀
Thanks for the effort. I was anticipating something that would move me, this is why I sold my 5D3 a few months ago. Now I am considering shifting brands...what a perfect timing lol.
Great video. good to hear a honest review. I purchased mine and was nervous hearing all the negative comments. I agree that it is an all around camera. loved your photos and video. I need to visit Canada more often! i mostly shoot landscapes, wildlife, and macro. keep up the good work.
Thanks Jeff, I too was a bit nervous at first :P Canada is such a diverse country for landscapes and wildlife, the east and west coasts are beautiful, but at the same time the rolling prairies are just as beautiful in their own way. And then there's the arctic, if you visit only one location in Canada it needs to be the far north :)
That was a great review, overall. I'm surprised how quickly you dismissed dual pixel autofocus, however. It tracks a walking/moving subject far better than the average photographer could manually focus on a moving subject unless they have many years experience as a professional videographer . To say you wouldn't trust technology for focus-pulling is ridiculous as the whole camera is technology. You trust it for general autofocus and metering, etc., why wouldn't you trust it for general video focusing (within the limits of its capabilities)?
cooloox, you're correct that Dual Pixel AF is helpful for a photographer in basic situations: a walking subject at a close distance to the camera, a talking head moving slightly through your depth of field. Though as you said, for a videographer with many years of experience, that experience will do a better job during the most demanding situations. I completely stand by what I said, in that I can not trust Dual Pixel AF when capturing critical footage. I am an experienced videographer with many years under my belth and when capturing a bird in flight or a coyote moving through grass, Dual Pixel AF is useless. Interrupting objects coming between the subject and camera, long distances and flat contrast settings leave Dual Pixel AF baffled and hunting. Metering and auto focus for still photography is only momentary - fractions of second, capturing video is minutes. Although Dual Pixel AF works well and reliably for basic situations, when facing challenging and demanding scenes it's not worth losing a shot.
+Quantum Creative Media - Quantum Wraps yes the 7DmkII and 5DmkIV differ greatly. Hopefully the 7DmkII successor adopts some of the newer technology found in the 5DmkIV. 😀
Since I got my 5DIV, I have loved this camera. There is nothing I need it to do that it doesn't do. I agree with you about dual pixel RAW, the file sizes don't justify the small benefit. There are a number of features such as the wireless file transfer via Wi-Fi, and the Canon Connect phone app that can be used to completely control the camera, (video and stills) that few people seem to talk about. Also being able to produce a time-lapse right in the camera at 1080p is also a great feature. I haven't upgraded my video card to 4K, no 4k monitor, so I'm looking at a cost of about $5-grand to get comfortably into 4K. So why bother right now... Another cool thing is the 5D MIV, with the 50mm f1.2 lens can shoot video at a low light level that I can't even see in. All in all it is an expensive camera, but at this point, I've forgotten the cost. Now I'm just having a ball with the camera. I also have a 7D Mark II. The only reason I kept it is the longer reach. But both cameras use the same batteries and basically operate the same - same focus system, GPS etc. The 7D MII does 10 frames/second, some people are all about speed, but I don't use it like that.
Good review! I own the Fuji X-T2 and got the 5D MIV in December as a full frame side kick off some of my not much used Fuji lenses. I also previously shot with the D500 but the iso 6400 and above in low light had a lot of luminance noise, but being aps c, I expected that. I have also owned the 10D and 20D in the past and have been a fan of Canon colors and the 5D series as a whole but never owned one until now!
Well done! Well done Neil. Great images, nice, clean and clear review. Love the video and thank you very much for taking your time making the video. Subscribed and Liked !
If you're a wedding photographer and have tested the dual pixel AF i believe you will disagree with the statements about that function here. Just goes to show that different types of photography will find different uses for functions. Also note that ISO numbers are useless; ISO numbers into the 10s of thousands are gimmics regardless of the manufacturer. If you compare the ISO sensitivity to past 5D products you will find it's not just an expanded range but also a higher quality of sensitivity. Great video Neil. Keep em coming.

this is very in depth. thanks for the work you put into it. helps make that decision!
Thanks for such a fantastic review. I already have the camera but it is great to get a few extra pointers / info about the video capability of the camera. New subscriber here and will continue to watch your videos!
Thanks for your review of the Mark4. I have and use the camera as well. Have you been able to handle a Canon EOS R5 yet? Will you be reviewing the R5 in the future. Keep your video's coming, they are great.
Many thanks @Jerry Niehaus 😃 I haven't yet been able to play with an EOS R5 and it's price here in Canada will ultimately be the determining factor in whether I bite the bullet or not. Having said that, its specifications are remarkable - and as someone who shoots video more than seventy-five per cent of the time... I want it badly 😝😝😝
Thanks for a great review (location is awesome). The video capability of the camera is really of zero concern to me as I never shoot video and I'm strictly photo-centric. I shoot landscapes, night-sky (astro), and airshows (of which the 7 fps would be great - and that more advanced AF system rocks). I currently shoot with a 6D and it's slower 4.5 fps makes airshows a challenge but I've managed to get some awesome images with the 6D. I rented a 5DM4 for the last airshow and the difference was compelling to make me consider the 5DM4. I need a 2nd camera body (already have $$ invested in Canon glass) so this might do the trick - just wish it wasn't $3500 USD.... there is so much I love about the 6D I don't think I'd give it up. (100% agree with your comment on the articulating screen - I don't trust them, 6D does NOT have it either, and I prefer the "solid" less-moving-parts design)
I'm at little late in responding, but thanks for the feedback @Mark Streit 👍 It's interesting looking back and seeing how significantly the camera industry has changed in such a considerably short period of time. Hope you're still confident with the camera path you chose 😃😃😃
Thanks for a truly excellent review, love how you put the exif data at the bottom of sample video and photos from the camera. After some deliberation I'm going to upgrade from my 5D3 to the 4 now, and your video helped me with that decision.
+Malcolm King thanks for the feedback. The upgrade from the 5DmkIII may not look substantial on paper when comparing specs, but once you have the opportunity to use the newer 5DmkIV the difference are very noticeable and do make the upgrade worthwhile. 😀
I'm only a few years late in replying, but thanks for the feedback @Thamer Abalkhail 👍 All the music used in this video is from RUclips's own music library - nothing too fancy 😃😃😃
This is by far the best review ive seen so far. Very intuitive and detailed. Thank you so much my m4 will be here next week thanks to your awesome review, super excited. One question I've never shot 4k how exactly do you transcode the video? How fast of a c.f. and SD would you recommend. Thanks again
Thanks for the feedback Wine Country Games. 😀 Computer processors and GPU's have advanced to the point where a modern workstation shouldn't need to transcode files from the Canon 5DmkIV. However, if you're editing video with an older system that is unable to playback the motion jpeg mov files in realtime, you may want to consider transcoding files and/or creating proxies. Transcoding is simply the process of creating a duplicate video file with a lower bit rate or more processor friendly codec. In regards the memory cards: the Canon 5D mark IV's SD card slot in only UHS-I and it's recommended that 4K video is captured on Compact Flash cards. I personally use CF cards with a write speed of 160 MB per second and never encountered any buffering issues. Hope this helps. 😀
Glad you found it helpful. With that said, if you're not already too heavily invested in Canon... check out Nikon's new D850. Similar price as the Canon 5D mark IV with a much stronger and more robust feature set - just my two cents :)
this was the best 5D4 review on youtube, yeah, its mid 2019 and I just bought my brand new 5D4 and needed reassurance, well done mate, I still have that question though, does it also crop your image while using FHD instead of 4K?
Finally a fair review! Now I'm confident to purchase myself one! Overall great camera for every type of photography with video shooting here and there, pretty much what I need! Thanks a lot Neil, Great review! Subscribed. Keep up the great work! ^^
The 5D Mark 4 was great when it first came out in 2016, but it is NOT WORTH $3200 new in 2021 when you can buy the new R6, with much upgraded features and processor, which blows the 5D of the water, for basically the same price! Why pay $3200 for 2016 Camera when you can pay the SAME PRICE and get a much better 2021 Camera! The prices of these cameras should DROP as they get older. Would you pay the same price for a 2016 Car as you would for the same car but 2021?
I really want to go full frame, currently have the 80D and have invested a lot in Canon lenses so I'm basically locked in to there cameras. I really want a FF pro body with a flippy screen. I like doing macro work and that's a God send on the 80D but really could do with a FF sensor. Don't know whether to hold my breath and hope one materialises in the near future or just take a plunge and buy a Mark iii or iv. First world problems i know!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video love your presentation I too am thinking of which camera to buy such as the 5D Mark four or the 6D Mark two once again thank you for your work.
Thanks for the kind remarks. The 6DmkII and 5DmkIV are similar cameras in terms of photographic capabilities, but if you're planning on doing any serious video capture the choice should be obvious - the 5DmkIV.
Thanks @BINAURAL LANDSCAPES. Relaxing nature sounds encoded in the real binaural format 😃 Also, you undoubtedly have one of the longest user names on RUclips 😆😆😆
4:33 Strange, because even sitting here at my desk, whatching this video in HD, I can clearly see the left eye moving in and out of focus. Stuff like that can transform a good shot into a master shot.
That was a great review. There was just one thing which didn't seem right to me, which was the comment you made about the dual focus AF. Although there are very good cameras with 4K, like the panasonic GH5 and similar cameras, and some very good Sony options, none are as smooth using automatic focus. Canon's dual autofocus AF for videos is aesthetically way beyond other camera manufacturers' offerings. Photographers are not going to have professional levels of experience to allow them to pull focus manually so making that comparison is not valid. If you are making a video with people in it and faces go in and out of focus in a jerky way the video is ruined. Of course Canon doesn't want to undercut it's dedicated video cameras by making it's cameras too good at video but dual pixel AF is groundbreaking. I want to buy this camera, your video helped with my decision making, thank you, I love your comments and observations about low light performance and dynamic range, but I think you downplayed the importance of dual pixel AF.
Kevin, I totally agree with everything you’ve said. My comments about DPAF were more directed to cinematographers and those capturing video in no repeatable situations. It’s been well over a year since creating this review and I still feel the autofocus is no replacement for experience with manual focus pulling. The number of instances during which I had autofocus fail and begin hunting in environments that I would consider basic is substantial. If I’m capturing footage of an animal in the wild and I want the footage to be in focus - I don’t rely on autofocus. However, I do recognize that ‘photographers’ who do not have experience with manual focus while filming will find the DPAF helpful.... hope this rambling makes sense.
thanks for the review. I noticed that with the dual pixel when you were adjusting the slider the feathers sharpened quite a bit. I dont know if you I am mistaken or if you noticed it or not. Have you tried to use it again or what were your thoughts on that?
+Will Corwin I've done a bit more experimenting and Canon has further explained how to achieve successful shifts. With the photo of the hawk featured to demonstrate, I used a rather small aperture and as a result the Dual Pixel RAW focus shift is hardly visible. Canon has explained the biggest focus shifts are visible when using large apertures and I've experienced this as well - anything bigger than f/2.8 seems to see the most benefit in Dual Pixel focus shift. Hope this sheds some more light on the issue for you. ☺️☺️☺️
Thank for the video, great info. I wonder why you went from a D800 to Canon though, as later the D800E and D810 were I believe all together better cameras than a 5D IV (no low pass, higher res. (D810), better at noise even and better DR...). Was it because of the lenses selection/price, or some other restriction that turned you to Canon ? Or did you value the 5D IV speed as the sole reason to switch over those somewhat better characteristics hat the D810 has ? Very curious of that. I'm stuck with a lot of Canon glass but otherwise I wonder if would not have picked the D810 over the 5D IV for most cases, notably macro and landscape, then birding, trading sharpness (no AA) and resolution/crop potential of the D810 over the 5D IV FPS/buffer capacity only... You got to admit that it's a lot of factor favoring the D810 all together, so I wonder how come you switched...
Thanks again @Alan Alain 😃 With extensive experience using both the D810 and 5D mark IV, the latter was the strong all-around camera. The D810 was too slow for my needs and there was little demand for its higher resolution on the client side. It would be more appropriate to compare the Canon 5D mark IV to the Nikon D850 👍👍👍
@@neilfisher Thank you Neil for this insight. Then no regret, I'll turn to the 5D IV.The good side of Canon is the lens selection (and used ones, I actually just got a 400mm f5.6 used on eBay for about 1K to replace my 1st gen. 100-400mm for sharper birding).Yet if I had the budget, I'd love to experiment the D500 with the 300 PF f4 and 200-500 f5.6 from Nikon which both are said to be excellent , as I think for birding/wildlife on a budget, it would be a very good configuration too. But we talking APS-C here. what makes me little angry with Canon on that part though is that they came with the 7D II and later 90D instead of releasing a last 7D version III that would have had the ruggedness and focus system of the 7D II with the video and very nice sensor the 90D has. This is where I felt too that Nikon here was offering a better configuration than the 7D II or 90D, giving us their best of both world with their D500 whereas you feel you're gone miss something if for APS-C you go either with the 7D II or 90D. So little jealous on Nikon here... And for the D810, being otherwise mainly in landscape that requires more dynamic range and pixels, and astro and macro for the rest, this is the areas where I was thinking the D810 was running circles around de 5D IV. But a you say, as an all rounder DSLR, the 5D IV checks many boxes and some over the D810. The D850 is nice with its focus stack and other tools is more advanced than on the 5D IV , but anyway now that they're all going mirrorless, we start to see less difference between Sony, Nikon and Canon with their new R5 (although I think they went cheap on the pixel count of the R6, they could have given 30, but then so much less market shares for the R5... ) Thank you again Neil for your reply. I think I'll be very happy with a 5D IV anyway, as I'll upgrade from a 6D (which is otherwise a quite good camera too, and for noise with night skies, if not perfect)
Really enjoyed your review, thanks for posting. It has really helped me decide on which camera I buy next (will be the Canon. I'm going to be switching from Nikon, which is a big step but the Canon body/lens combinations seem way ahead now) Love the scenery where you are too, we don't see enough of the great plains
+olrepas Switching platforms is a massive undertaking for anyone moving between any brand - I imagine it must be intimidating. I shot with a Nikon system for just over five years a few years back and although there is absolutely nothing ‘wrong’ with their camera’s I still prefer Canon for a number of reasons. If you do end up making the switch I’m sure it will take some time to get use to a new platform - but it should be worth it in the long run. I’m a prairie transplant and actually grew up on Canada’s west coast, but the great plains of North America certainly are stunning.
Hi Neil. I was wondering why you said " I still prefer Canon for a number of reasons." I have a 7dII and was thinking of getting the 5div but with all the Nikon and Sony hype its hard not to feel discouraged in canon. I have a lot of canon glass already and it's not as good on my crop so want to go full frame. I have the 100-400II 70-200II 24-70II, 100mm macro, 50mm macro 65mpe. I shoot a little bit of everything but thinking of getting into food photography. Thank you! :-)
Good review but just to say that moving to a crop with 4K video does not change the pixels on subject and therefore does not change the effective focal length of the lenses you are using. All it changes is the field of view, which has no important bearing on wildlife photography.
I do understand how crop sensors only impact field of view, however in this case the difference between capturing 1080p video versus 4K video does result in more pixels of a subject being captured. Though as you said it's not necessarily more pixels on a subject, because 1080p video is a full sensor read out without any pixel binning :)
Great video. Love the wildlife photos and videos. Saskatchewan looks similar to the Tug Hill Plateau of NY State, where I'll be shooting with my new camera. Thanks again.
Thanks Wendy. I'll be honest and admit that I've never heard of Tug Plateau, nor have I ever visited NY - however, after doing a bit of Google'ing it's been added to my list :)
Wow what an in depth, unbiased, and informative hands-on review! Neil thank you for doing such a fluid report on this camera! You were honest, unbiased, and you seemed to have covered just about every detail needed to be discussed! I am definitely subscribing :) I do have a question regarding the sharpness of the images taken with the 5DMIV... Since I only own the 50mm f/1.8 I can't decide if my images appear less sharp because of the camera or if I need to update my lenses? My more important question is regarding that I often have an issue where I will focus on my subjects then when on the computer the images appear slightly out of focus-- this is becoming a reoccurring problem and I am wondering if you have heard of this complaint or if I have my settings wrong?
+Sean Sandoval thanks for the ki d words. Personally I haven't used the 50mm f/1.8 with the 5D mark IV, however I haven't encountered any issues with sharpness while using the lenses at my disposal, including the: 16-35mm f/2.8 L II, 35mm f/1.4 L, 100mm f/2.8 L IS Macro and 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II. It is quite possible that the 50mm f/1.8 just isn't able to resolve the resolution of the 30 megapixel sensor. When the 5DS and 5DSr were released, Canon listed a number of lenses that were 'qualified' to resolve the high 50 megapixel resolution. To determine if you're encountering a focusing issue. Lock of your camera on a tripod and use live view to manually focus on a proper focus chart. If the resulting photos are indeed in focus, try making micro adjustments it correct the camera's autofocus when pair with the 50mm f/1.8. If you've already made micro adjustments, it like is the quality of the lens. Honestly, if you currently only own the 50mm f/1.8, you probably better off investing in a few other lenses prior to plunging into a 5D mark IV - just my two cents. Hope this helps. 😀
Clear, not too nit-picky and cavilling, fair, Canon user = Subscribed.
Thanks Markdean :)

Hello from London, Ontario. I appreciate the unfussy, thorough review with lots of footage from the 5Div. Thanks, man!
Thanks @ElectricStardust 😃 Greatly appreciate the feedback👍👍👍
This is a REVIEW! Man! The world needs more like this..
Thanks for feedback +Joshualacruz 😀😀😀
Excellent appraisal, hand-in-hand, in terms of sheer quality, with the tests and reviews DPR made.

Thanks @@ihatesss1 😃 Greatly appreciate the feedback👍👍👍
In 2024, still the best review ever.
Many thanks @averobinramos1496👍 Appreciate the feedback😃😃😃
One of the best reviews of Canon EOS 5D Mark IV .....
Thanks Jess, glad you like it :)
The best 5D4 review in youtube.
Thanks so much @johnchan1 👍👍👍
Chuck F the quality of 1080p video from the 5D mark IV is great. A big step forward over the video quality of the 5D mark III ☺️
neil fisher compared to mark3 ok, but unfortunately not with respect to such GH4, or sony a7sII, a7rII :(
True. The Panasonic GH4 is a fair comparison, but I don't consider the Sony A7 series competitors - their battery life, over heating sensors and overall reliability are too much to ignore.
Now that is how to do a review. Many thanks.
Thank so much @Squiz Puck - greatly appreciate the feedback 😃😃😃
The best real review of a camera I've seen on youtube
Thank you
Thanks so much @badger0681 👍 PS your tractor content is awesome 😃😃😃
Absolutely exceptional review. Comprehensive, honest, and practical.
+Luke Howlin thanks for the feedback - greatly appreciated. 😀
So much effort put into this review, thanks a lot for that!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks for the feedback. 😀
Subscribed.
I'm only a few years late in replying, but thanks for the kind words @Mike Dixon 👍 It's been quite fun producing video like this, but boy doesn't it take a bunch of time to make them 😆😆😆
THIS is a proper and well thought out camera review. Fantastic work!
Many thanks @Peter Lucas 👍 Really appreciate the feedback 😃😃😃
The response may be two years late, but I'm glad to hear this help with your decision @Abdulaziz Alghamdi 😃😃😃
Thanks for the review and the beautiful prairie scenery!
Glad you liked it - the prairies certainly are a unique type of beauty :)
+neil fisher Thanks very much for the detailed response, Neil. I can see why it is totally useless for your needs.
Great Review! Thanks I'm still hanging on to my 7D mark ii
Great review! Super clean and well spoken.
I'm only two years late in replying, but thanks for the kind words @Colin Herrington 😃😃😃
Best 5d4 review so far. Good job!
JingJing thanks. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it :)
thank you for a very well composed and image-supported presentation.
Thanks a bunch +Tim C 😀😀😀
Good review! I own the Fuji X-T2 and got the 5D MIV in December as a full frame side kick off some of my not much used Fuji lenses. I also previously shot with the D500 but the iso 6400 and above in low light had a lot of luminance noise, but being aps c, I expected that. I have also owned the 10D and 20D in the past and have been a fan of Canon colors and the 5D series as a whole but never owned one until now!
Thanks @Blue Fuji 😃 Hopefully you're still rocking the 5D mark IV in tandem with some fun Fuji kit 👍👍👍
Fantastic review, thank you for the effort that obviously went into it. Stunning shots as well!
Thanks Mason, good to hear you also liked the footage :)
Well done! Well done Neil. Great images, nice, clean and clear review. Love the video and thank you very much for taking your time making the video. Subscribed and Liked !
Thanks so much @Rai Allen - greatly appreciate the kind words 😃😃😃
I tend to agree with your comment that 5d4 is a very balanced one . Nice video.
Greatly appreciate the feedback +Chengzhi Lei 😀😀😀
Thank you sir for highting up one of our favourite camera
Thanks @Atoulie Neikha 😃 It certainly is a flexible and dependable camera system 👍
I wish it had a flip screem
Thanks for the video, this helped me finding the detailed features and functioning of mark iv. Loved it
Martin Antony glad to hear it helped in your decision making process 😀
Excellent review, and some beautiful shots. Thanks for making this.
Many thanks @Greg Cahill - greatly appreciate the kind words 👍👍👍
If you're a wedding photographer and have tested the dual pixel AF i believe you will disagree with the statements about that function here. Just goes to show that different types of photography will find different uses for functions. Also note that ISO numbers are useless; ISO numbers into the 10s of thousands are gimmics regardless of the manufacturer. If you compare the ISO sensitivity to past 5D products you will find it's not just an expanded range but also a higher quality of sensitivity. Great video Neil. Keep em coming.
this is very in depth. thanks for the work you put into it. helps make that decision!
Good job. Great review and explanation of the 5D4 features.
+Trey Quattro thanks - glad to hear you enjoyed it. ☺️☺️☺️
Pretty comprehensive review. Thanks.
Thanks so much @Cédric Converset 😃😃😃
Excellent review and photos!
Many thanks @Twobarpsi👍 Appreciate the feedback😃😃😃
It was a decent review, had enough information and examples to back up what was said, and felt as if it was reviewed objectively.
Thanks Nicolas, glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks for such a fantastic review. I already have the camera but it is great to get a few extra pointers / info about the video capability of the camera. New subscriber here and will continue to watch your videos!
Many thanks @flaberdoopin 👍 Greatly appreciate the kind words and happy to hear you found it helpful 😃😃😃
One of the best reviews I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot. I sub'ed
Thanks Above Ground Level Videography L.L.C. - appreciate the feedback. 😀
Thanks for the solid review. It helped me make a decision on my next camera.
Glad to hear you found it helpful Steve - thanks for the feedback. 😀😀😀
5d is the beast of low budget film making and indipendent films
Totally agree @digital king lion , but only with 1080p - once you move to 4K the low light advantage is gone.
Glad I stumbled across this - excellent review.
Many thanks @soap0688 😃😃😃
Thanks neil, very informative and well made review.
Thanks Francisco, glad to know you liked it. 😀
Hope you're still confident with the camera path you chose 😃😃😃
i don't shoot canon, but you guitar music relaxes me.
Ha... with a user name like @CORNfused87 this doesn't surprise me 👍👍👍
Thanks for a truly excellent review, love how you put the exif data at the bottom of sample video and photos from the camera.
Thank you Neil for the effort and the time. loved the music too. please provide details or link to the background music artist.
I'm only a few years late in replying, but thanks for the feedback @Thamer Abalkhail 👍 All the music used in this video is from RUclips's own music library - nothing too fancy 😃😃😃
Thanks! Clear and unbiased review!
Many thanks @Kevin Hayden - greatly appreciate the feedback 👍👍👍
Really good, clear and unbiased review!
Thanks stickmanbangkok, glad you like it - unbiased was what I was aiming for :)
Computer processors and GPU's have advanced to the point where a modern workstation shouldn't need to transcode files from the Canon 5DmkIV.
at last a good review for 5D4..thx alot subscribed also
I'm only two years late in responding... but thanks so much @Konsta Pot 😃😃😃
Thank you Neil ♥
Thanks @AbyssXII 👍👍👍
Thanks - great review. The aurora borealis was lovely. Wow.
Thanks Liam, the auroras are out of this world up here :)
My favorite 5D Mark IV review thus far! I'll be buying one soon :)
Thanks @PELAMESTA 😃 No, it does not capture FHD with any crop. 👍
3:32@. Awesome timelapse!!!
+EZEQUIEL MARTINEZ thanks - just one of the perks of living in the great white north. 😀
Got a subscriber 👌🏾
Finally a fair review! Now I'm confident to purchase myself one! Overall great camera for every type of photography with video shooting here and there, pretty much what I need! Thanks a lot Neil, Great review! Subscribed. Keep up the great work! ^^
AtlantisTheShark thanks, glad you enjoyed it☺️
neil fisher Of course man, You are very welcome!
Great straight up review. Thank you so much for your honest opinion.
+Peter B. thanks. Appreciate the feedback. 😀
Great Review!!! Thanks for that.
Thanks @Dejan Burja 👍👍👍
Hi Neil, we try to get in touch with you regarding one of your youtube videos. Please reply
Great review ... very informative.
+John van den Broek glad to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks for the feedback. ☺️
You really put a lot work in the video, it's awesome
Super detail
Justin Ling thanks - appreciate the feedback ☺️
Cant wait to see your next video 👍🏼
Thanks @uthman alaseeri 😃😃😃
Thank you for taking the time to make this video love your presentation I too am thinking of which camera to buy such as the 5D Mark four or the 6D Mark two once again thank you for your work.
Thanks for the kind remarks. The 6DmkII and 5DmkIV are similar cameras in terms of photographic capabilities, but if you're planning on doing any serious video capture the choice should be obvious - the 5DmkIV.
Thanks! it was an excellent video
Thanks @BINAURAL LANDSCAPES. Relaxing nature sounds encoded in the real binaural format 😃 Also, you undoubtedly have one of the longest user names on RUclips 😆😆😆
Thanks for the review!
Thanks @ XperiaVideosCR 😃😃😃
Thank You...great review of the camera. As in another comment....Well Spoken!
Kristi Chesley thanks - happy to hear you liked it ☺️
4:33 Strange, because even sitting here at my desk, whatching this video in HD, I can clearly see the left eye moving in and out of focus. Stuff like that can transform a good shot into a master shot.
Thanks, this was very helpful.
Thanks so much @Simon Bull - happy to hear you found it helpful 👍👍👍
Just discovered you. Great review, and I'm now subscribed.
Thanks so much @Kevin Johnson 👍👍👍
Loved it. Great Video
Thanks @Rick Eyre 👍 It's getting a little long in the tooth, but the Canon 5D mark IV is still a rock solid camera 😃😃😃
thanks for the review.
Good review!
Thanks @vex 👍👍👍
mobile wifi transfer also slashes the mb of the photo transferred to the phone vs usb transfer
Thanks so much for this very helpful review.
Thanks Venkat, happy to hear you liked it :)
Great camera
Three years on and I still agree @TheG7thcapo 👍👍👍
Great review, very helpful. Thanks.
+Mikel Manitius thanks 😀 Glad to hear you enjoyed it. ☺️
Great job, Neil. Much appreciated!
+Bret Douglas thanks, glad to hear you liked it☺️
Good review and great video. Really like your editing and color grading. Great framing of your shots!
Thanks BenBarton, appreciate the feedback :)
Really enjoyed your review, thanks for posting. It has really helped me decide on which camera I buy next (will be the Canon. I'm going to be switching from Nikon, which is a big step but the Canon body/lens combinations seem way ahead now)
Love the scenery where you are too, we don't see enough of the great plains
Thank you! :-)
AF is for one man show like I am at the moment essentiell! I use it with my gimbal and it is very important
Great tutorial!
Many thanks +pro10 :)
Damn very cool video! Love the way you cut and filmed it :-) greets from Berlin
Vielen dank, glad to know you liked it :)
great video man
Thanks very much @omgurheadsgone - appreciate the feedback 😃😃😃
Thank you so much for the reply Neil :) You have been so encouraging and helpful!! I'll give what you recommended a try!
