God on high Hear my prayer In my need You have always been there He is young He's afraid Let him rest Heaven blessed. Bring him home Bring him home Bring him home. He's like the son I might have known If God had granted me a son. The summers die One by one How soon they fly On and on And I am old And will be gone. Bring him peace Bring him joy He is young He is only a boy You can take You can give Let him be Let him live If I die Let me die Let him live Bring him home Bring him home Bring him home.
Wow. A totally selfless prayer, prayed from the gut and pulls at my heartstrings. "God be merciful and bring him home. He's just a young boy - could have been my son." 😢🙏🏽
I luv the little string part in the background. It makes it seem like a happy little tune but then u listen to the lyrics and ur like jeez. I didn't know my body had this much salt water
I'm hoping that this comment might become a time capsule like some of my others have. Currently, refugees are fleeing Ukraine, and some of the men are staying behind. The photos of families saying good-bye are as heart-wrenching, and this soundtrack just reminds me that history seems to repeat. Beautiful music.
The "bring him home" at 0:59 is what gets me the most. There's something about that one specifically that just sounds so passionate it's heartbreaking.
Pipis The Theatre Geek I neglected to mention that it was in middle school chorus when I sang this, so it might not be been as beautiful as you’re thinking xD
My middle school choir also had to sing this one concert. We got really good at it, though I unfortunately did not get to sing it with the choir because my family moved houses shortly before the concert.
From the very first string pluck, I am completely and utterly captivated! Trust Claude-Michel Schoenberg and Alain Boublil to write music that completely captures the heart and soul!
if you attend the Broadway in the States, most often the cast would perform in their American accents. But if you were to go to London and watch the London Broadway, they'd sing it in their own English accents. Frankly, I've always felt it apt for Broadway casts to sing in English accents. :)
In the Musical, the character, jean valjean, joins a revolutionary group of students who are barricaded in a street in Paris, to save one of the young men, who is also his adopted daughter’s new boyfriend... they expect the rebellion to be suppressed by the police/army soon. Hence the expectation of peril to come (that’s the simple version)
Valjean: Bring him hoOoooOOOOOoOOommmmmmeeeeee
Everyone else: yo we're tryna sleep here
When I was in Les Miserablés as my school production, this was by far the hardest and most emotional song I had to sing
you played a lead caherter congrats
Misty Schoff thanks it was a rly hard part too sing and act out
God on high
Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there
He is young
He's afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
He's like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son.
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone.
Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy
You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live
If I die
Let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.

I woke up 😊
Parents with children stationed somewhere foreign in the army must feel a bit extra when listening to this song.
Colm sang it for the benefit of american veterans and those fallen in conflict. Lots of tears
One of the most beautiful songs in all of musical theater
Okay, I know what comes after Drink with Me, I'm prepared.
*cries anyway*
I luv the little string part in the background. It makes it seem like a happy little tune but then u listen to the lyrics and ur like jeez. I didn't know my body had this much salt water
Megan Smith I know what you mean. Too many onions being chopped up.
*sniffle* I’m not crying *more sniffles* I just got something in my eye.
Love the singer's voice.
I agree, the best Jean Valjean
Apparently Robert Marien was an excellent Jean Valjean, but he mostly performed in French.
Colm Wilkinson
@@rideoutsean Who later played the bishop in the attempt that was the movie. Excellent artist

Listening it again for the 100th time, awkwardly, but emotionally singing.
I almost cried at if i die, let me die.
Most beautiful song ever written.
I have never cried at a film before I saw this and I wept buckets
watch it in the way it was meant to go to the theatre the film is a pale imitation
I am responding with tears in my eyes. Listening to this song is one of life's "peak" moments. A Blessing.
Beautiful... Beyond words. This song has not much text, but so much emotions. And his voice... Just perfect.

As my grandpa was passing I sang the epilogue verse of the finale where valjean is asking god to bring him home and as I finished it, he passed
Go see the Musical. You will not only have chills but smiles / tears / and many more.
the most beautiful song in any musical I think.
The "bring him home" at 0:59 is what gets me the most. There's something about that one specifically that just sounds so passionate it's heartbreaking.
I cried so hard at this part, and I NEVER cry.
If Colm isn't singing this, I don't wanna hear it.
Another song full of just raw amazing emotions!
i cried at this part
lovely
ladies
One of the best songs,oooohhh
always cry with this one it is soooo sad
Beautiful
We had to sing this in chorus for one concert :,)
This sounds like a choral song, just imagining how beautiful that must sound.
Pipis The Theatre Geek I neglected to mention that it was in middle school chorus when I sang this, so it might not be been as beautiful as you’re thinking xD

Probably Claude-Michel Schonberg's best SONG if not the MOST LEGENDARY! Also this song is enough to bring tears to a grown man.
One word response: AWWWWWW ! :')
Courfeyrac, keeping watch and awkwardly listening to Valjean must’ve felt so weird
Lol yeah. He's probably like "why the hell is this weird guy singing while everyone is trying to sleep".
Goose bumps
glad i kept the tissues on my bed with me!!
Bravo!

My friend once said maybe if he sang Bring THEM Home, Marius wouldn't have been the only one to survive...
When I saw this on stage, I thought Marius was very handsome.
Wow, thank you.
Awesome
Anyone who has seen Les Miserables on Broadway, what accent do the cast perform it in, I've always been curious?
I'm literally 6 years late but they do it in a british accent for some reason
When I was there they decided to use vietnamese accentuate for fun! 😜

:)
I've been there in 1987....
YOU SHOULD’VE PRAYED FOR GAVROCHE TO BE SAFE
Damn!!!
“Bring him hoooome.. but all his friends can die, that’s fine” Sorry for ruining moment.
Can someone explain what's happening in this? This is my first time listening to this and I don't know what's happening

It is super complicated. They explained it well.
