I've found that choosing the right color combinations is the big trick. And it's taking some experience and time. I was a charcoal colorist and I'm finding color to be amazing.
I just have to share with you that this was my very first colored pencil tutorial and now after watching TONS of them, I keep coming back to yours. Hands down it taught me more than all the others put together. Thank you for all your hard work! ❤

By the way the camera looks up close to the picture and you can tell it’s hand drawn, it’s “imperfect” like a Hand drawn picture, and I absolutely love that. I respect that so much in a coloring book. Thank you so much Pamela. This was a fantastic video to help me understand the beginnings of how to make the coloring page "pop". All of your videos are so full of great information for beginners. I can't tell you how excited I am to be learning these tips. You have completely changed my love for coloring into a passion for coloring.
This is so helpful!! I stumbled across this when I was looking for tips for colouring books and didn’t intend on watching the entire 40 mins... but I did!!! You made everything look so easy and beautiful. I’ll definitely be try this in my first colouring book. 😊💖💖
Thank you for doing this video. I do have a critique tho and that is that as a new/beginner I have not spent hundreds of dollars on colored pencils, rather bought cheap such as Crayola and such. I can only imagine that other newbies have done the same.
Such a great video on stepping up your coloring game and why!! 👏👏 I've been thinking that it might make a great series on finishing up your coloring pages. You often comment on videos that "I've not finished this page, but I really should." Some could be fixing pages that were tutorials like the pots here. You could do one page per month and let your FB group vote on which page you finish. Just a thought. May your coloring be stress-free!! 🤗

Hello Pamela. I am new to the adult coloring community. I found your channel a few weeks ago, and I subscribed. I love your techniques. I was still using my 64 box of Crayola Crayon Colors that I love. I was coloring in kids' books with looks of white space. However, I was still coloring like a kid. Scribbling everywhere. And definitely not coloring skin or backgrounds. 😂 Thank you so much for this video. I bought the Prismacolor Premier Pencil and the Faber-Castell Watercolour Penils, my two favorites back in 2020 for Bible Journaling. They are still new. I just wasn't able to graps using these Penils. But, after this tutorial, I am going to give them a try. Question: I think it has been confusing me that it seems like you are coloring the same image 3 or 4 times. Like using highlights, med tone, and dark tones. It seems like it would take forever to color one item on the page. So, I guess that's how it is supposed to be done? And oh yeah, I couldn't really tell, are you doing circling motions and strokes? I am going to watch part 2 next. Tfs

Excellent tutorial on blending, highlighting, and shading. As I am starting all of your videos over again, I am learning things I missed the first go around before my health issue. The good thing is I was still able to acquire supplies, so I was able to get this coloring book by Eriy and some others that you also have tutorials and tips/tricks/hacks in. Hope they accept me because I just opened a Facebook only for the art so I have no previous activity on it like was requested. Thanks again for your videos. God bless!
Thank you Pamela, I enjoyed this video. I still wonder about the highlights, while understanding how to include shadows. How do you decide where to add highlights? I think of highlights being used to represent a shine and often shy away from using them on things like the terracotta pots. Are the highlights always determined by the source of light, therefore, being on the same side of each item you color? When you color the leaves and add highlights, do all the leaves get highlights or only ones that would be touched by a source of light? Looking forward to your response.

Wouldn't how you color which leaves be also determined by where your light source was and where the leaf is on the tree? If the leaf is more in the center of the tree, wouldn't it be darker or have a smaller or darker highlight if it's more shaded by other leaves?

I meant to add that I would love to see this page completed!
This page is being used as a test page for this series. I don’t usually complete the pages I use for videos like these. If you’d like to follow a color along with full tutorials, there are a few playlists for that on my channel. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos.
Thank you! This is really helpful. Do you have a video on good color combinations for prismacolor pencils? I think that’s what I’m not sure of.
Here is one video I did on color combinations with Prismacolor. Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/JtoEfpxuKjE/видео.html
I recommend that you try the Carl Angel Custom sharpener. You will love it more than the Dahle 133
Thank you for the recommendation.
I’m a new at this and saw your channel. Thank you so much for taking your time :) this really helps me a lot! Do you have any recommendations on cheap but effective sharpener? Tia
