Guys, hands down, you have to play Hegemony. It just blew me away. Playing as the capitalist and charge way too much for food was a little too satisfaying 😅

I have 196 games and 26 I've not yet played.
Kinda madness.
I've got a 4' x 2' metal shop shelf 5 shelves. I polished the galvanized steel and it's deep enough to put 95% of my games in, library book style, on each side of the shelves.
I don't have enough years left on Earth to get serious use out of them. all.

Congratulations! I purged an eighth of my collection earlier this month.
How do you feel afterwards?
@@BoardGameHangover good for the most part. My collection was starting to move into hording, so I'm grateful for the space. It will give me space for upcoming crowdfunding games and new games to come. It is sad that I didn't play the Pandemic Legacy trilogy, but after the pandemic, none of my friends really had any interest in diving into that journey. I wrote my purge list two weeks ahead of actually doing it. It allowed me to get comfortable with the effort. I know that sounds weird, but your comments in the video resonated with me. I'm glad other folks can get the games to the table.
I have a very clingy and soft spot for games I own (Board Games or Video Games). I hold on to them usually due to sentimental values, sentimental by mean my engagement with the game and to myself when playing them. This is a hard watch but was really funny 😂.
I totally get that, some of the games I have kept are exactly for those reasons.

This was probably the best and most entertaining board game purge video I've seen yet. Similar to you, I am also limited to a shelf, so basically forced to operate on a "one-in, one-out" system!

I'd really like to see a review of some of the older games in your shelf like combat commander for example. Also liked to know what your thinking about about too many bones :)
Glad to see you kept "Here I Stand" and "Virgin Queen". I'm dying to play both. Will likely never play either. The bane of most board gamers is lack of persons with whom to play the games we want to play. If we all lived near each other, things would be much easier.

What a bittersweet but liberating feeling to purge your collection. Sad to see Nemesis (I think) not making the cut. It was one of your must haves! I just got a copy and looking forward to play it.

Btw a simple equation: time available divided by number of games in collection equal how much dedication you can give to your favourite games. After realizing that, I went from 120+ games to 33. I never looked back.

Just my Imperial Assault, Armada, X-Wing and Edge of the Empire wouldn't fit on that shelf (which is why they're not on my shelves, but in totes or closets). And they're just four of my more than a hundred games.

This was so painful to watch. You can see the sadness on Janis' face and in his body language. I feel bad when this happens to people. Being forced to cull their beloved game collection because others don't appreciate the hobby. Games are such a joyful and happy experience for me, it would feel the emotional impact if I was forced to get rid of them.
In the end it was not so bad. I mean, I freed space for new ones ;)
The only kind of cleansing that one wants to watch 😂

I think if the rule is all boardgames are only on that shelf, you should be allowed to move your comics/books off to a diffrent shelf to have those inportant few inches. also any games that now seeing the extra room you pulled back?
