Im a Camaro guy, judging and building em. Wheel and stance, in my mind, is where it's at. Go economical on drive train, always can upgrade when funds alow. Bottom line fun is being had by all. Keep it up
I'd go with the 327 for budget but if budget allows go for the 383. The problem with going with a LS is it makes it more costly adapting everything it requires pressured fuel system, wiring, computer and tuning, mounts, spealized cooling, and you still have to deal with the dead cylinder. All of that plus more and then all the added time it takes as well. Can't go wrong sticking with old school small block fast easy and very affordable and far less to go wrong making it more reliable.
I'd go with the mild 327, stay within the budget. If you go LS I'm going to need to see the price of every unique LS swap part. Bell housing/flexplate adapter, shift linkage, throttle cable, radiator, radiator hoses, fuel pump, fuel tank, motor mounts, headers. I've seen lots of people claiming a $500 LS swap is only $10K away from driveable. Cheap LS parts at swap meets here are non-existant.
Hi JF, My friends Glen and Keith were living in Alberta in the early 1980's and they worked at Bear tools. On their off time, they bought a four door 67 Canso and built a 327 and a 2 speed powerglide transmission. A real sleeper. When they were done Keith drove it back to their apartment. Glen followed in his car. At one point, Keith put the pedal to the metal and Glen said all he saw were two tailights disappear. Soon after that, they realized they were getting 10 miles to the Gallon so they changed camshafts. That was a great car and it performed really well. Roland
The young guys will want the LS no doubt...older guy here wd be fine with 327. If you use the 327 and recam it..the last 350 flat top i assembled bunch of yrs ago put a 350 hp 327 wolvorine cam in it..3 in ex with stock muffler.Sounded like the old 302 zappers.Luved it. Someone made the cams for wolvorine but cant recall who. Thnx 4 the vid kids
Love the idea of a 383 stroker in that bad boy. My first car was a 1968 camaro in 1984. This build brings back alot of memories wrenching on it with my friends and my Dad. Best build on RUclips!
Hello Jf . "IF" the car was to be mine , as I stated in the last post . I would make a trans am series clone out of the car , so , I would say go with the 327ci with valve seals done and no cam , short exhaust exiting ahead of the rear wheels out the side with bologne cuts to the tips , maybe a cheap fuel cell in the trunk and a workable dash with door panels with carpet and old seats needing recovering , maybe a center console and that beautiful blue that Teresa sprayed on the firewall on the exterior. White dual racing stripes front to back would be a plus . As well if those rims are decnt , tires as well , Leave em on . Basically a driver needing some finishing over time . Thanks for the great videos JF , I do remember you from Overhauling , you refreshed my old memory after you mentioned that in the past vidoes . Lots of memories . Anyways thanks folks and I hope to see the car in my driveway.
I like the LS idea, check compression, maybe pull the heads and see whats what internally. Thanks for the great content and showing us how it can be done with limited funds.
I like LS swaps and whatnot but I think to keep it in budget well best go for the 327 with a cam and a 4 speed combo. Hard to go wrong. Cheap low budget old 70s street strip racer look. Thanks for the entertainment.
I'm a little impartial and like seeing an old or original engine in a classic muscle car. I have always loved the Large Journal 327 block ( I actually have one in my 68 Chevy C10 Step Side), however, due to the nature of this build (built from parts and pieces) I saw put the LS motor into it. It would give the winner options to customize.
I think small block chev. Its the most bang for the buck. And everyone and their grandmother has parts for them. And if you wanna go nuts later i think i saw a small block with ls heads and intake on a build a couple of years ago..
Ls all the way !!! If you want a driver that you can upgrade, alter for big power the 6.0l is the way to go. If you were going for a original sort of build I would say 327.
The Marina Blue looks great on the firewall can’t wait to own it. Can fly out from Ontario and drive it to Abbotsford to visit my eldest son and then drive it home from BC to Ontario.
Man you need a rotisserie BAD.I made mine using a engine stand with a worm drive rotator on one end of the car , and a pivot on the other end , Yea effortless to turn the car over !!!
@@larrygardner2836 You don't think JF doesn't already have a real rotisserie? He did it this way because it's a budget build for RUclips and a giveaway, and he doesn't need to tie up expensive tools and shop space at his successful business for this build.
Pretty basic, but damn informative. Haven’t given much thought about how few bolts and attachment points there are holding the running gear in place. Scary when you think about it. Love the 356!
I vote for a 327 with what ever upgrades meet the budget. Keep it year appropriate! Put good brakes in, and make it look as cool as ya can with the money allowable. Great episode….viewers will love it!
Any way yall gonna build it max budget its great to this ol man .... new owner lucky to have it and theirs to choose Sir right!! Noone looks a gift horse in the mouth in my day!!
327 and go shopping at uncle Mike’s as you know he has parts somewhere and he needs to clean house . Bartering for things wouldn’t take away from the budget if you have something Mike wants/needs and you have it . Keep up the good work JF and Teresa . 👍
I'd normally say 327 SB. But that car.... I think a nice 6.0 would be fun. It's not like it's a high dollar nut and bolt resto. I think it be fun with the LS and T10. Would be like VGG'S Nova give away! 😆 Witch was great!
Enjoying the build immensely, I say 327, keep the build relatable to us average backyard enthusiasts, always keeping the budget in mind.
Im a Camaro guy, judging and building em. Wheel and stance, in my mind, is where it's at. Go economical on drive train, always can upgrade when funds alow. Bottom line fun is being had by all. Keep it up
Can’t wait to see this finished woo hooo
327. Perfect choice
Go the safe route and go 327. If there's loot left over, you can "doll it up".
I'd go with the 327 for budget but if budget allows go for the 383. I like the LS with Auto Trans…. More enjoyable to drive and the thoughts of boost later 🤘🏻
Its Looking
great by the way!! 👍👍👍

327 with big cam or if you have a few extra dollars a 327 with 283 crank for a 302 and road race vibe for the car.
Add 350 heads if you want to mimic the dz302

As far as the engine...the 327 would be my choice. That's going to be a fun car. Camaros were made for blue paint.

Appreciate that . Teresa first car was a 68 Camaro also
Looking great! I vote for the LS, newer engine that should be more reliable with additional HP options and within budget! Win win win!

JF, The 327 with camel hump head is the obvious choice for a Camaro. With the right camshaft, the performance would be awesome. Roland
There's an alignment hole in the body mounts at the firewall. Need to put a pin in them before you tighten the subframe bolts down.
I vote for the LS, leaves room for lots of options and easy set up for upgrade in the future
Can't wait to drive my car when you are done with it! Lol
It's freakin awesome 👍👍. Well done
Put in the 327 engine option. Not comfortable with a ls1 with a carboned-up valve
327 period correct t10 trans 373 posi rear gear.
I’d go old school,327. Also helps the budget, extra money from the budget put somewhere else.
I like LS swaps and whatnot but I think to keep it in budget well best go for the 327 with a cam and a 4 speed combo. Hard to go wrong. Cheap low budget old 70s street strip racer look. Thanks for the entertainment.
Transformation is coming along great. 👍
An LS Engine would be great ! Upgrades could be installed later if budget permits . Keep up the great work!
6 liter LS. Love the wheels
Blue was a great choice, don’t spend much on the suspension can do that later
Old School 327 👍
LS...JF...👍👍😎

Nice work guys 327 four speed be awesome in my opinion. Really like too see it left ratty . Hope things work out down at Barrett s good luck . 36:19
327 would be my choice, but I'm sure you will do what you think is best. Any of those motors will be awesome. 💪
Ls all the way! 3 options ls ls ls. But 396 4speed would not hurt a bit!
Had a 69 Chevelle with a 327. Had a lot of power. Also be easy to make more HP if needed. 327 is my vote.
I have a 68 firebird that is a rust bucket hoping one day to get it built. I like the work you guys do very nice.
Goo job
Had a 67 Camaro Rally Sport in 1971 3274 speed worked well
327 is a good fit had one in my 1970 chevelle lots of power love that car
Lookin' good! I vote 327. I also like the rims that are on it.
Ls is my choice because I like the turbos
I think small block chev. Its the most bang for the buck. And everyone and their grandmother has parts for them.
And if you wanna go nuts later i think i saw a small block with ls heads and intake on a build a couple of years ago..
The LS To me would be the way to go more reliable, and like you said you can turbo it
Starting to take shape, looking good thanks to the wife’s excellent paint on that firewall. Fun to watch..😊
Put the ls engine in and maybe turbo it if it's in the budget awesome work yous are doing on it should come up awesome when finished
Ls street cruiser is how I see it going!
Ls all the way !!! If you want a driver that you can upgrade, alter for big power the 6.0l is the way to go. If you were going for a original sort of build I would say 327.
🎉 Y'all are awesome save the budget on the necessary part for the 68 & put in the LS motor they have a great reputation!
LS would be my choice then boost it later👍
Looks awesome keep up the good work
I'm old school, I would totally pick the 327 if it was my choice.
327 gets my vote......camaro is taking shape....will look good in my garage.
The Marina Blue looks great on the firewall can’t wait to own it. Can fly out from Ontario and drive it to Abbotsford to visit my eldest son and then drive it home from BC to Ontario.
Do the 327 with a cam. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Man you need a rotisserie BAD.I made mine using a engine stand with a worm drive rotator on one end of the car , and a pivot on the other end , Yea effortless to turn the car over !!!

327 saves you some time and I think it's a nice option for the car
327 is m’y choice With all the future option
I say LS as endless options and endless power.
Love the LS
Cool idea you guys are doing.
327 keep it More correct
My 67' came with a 6cyl 😮 dropped a 396 big block with drums up front😊 sold 30yrs ago 😢
327 4spd keep the aluminum slot wheels, keep her ol school
I would say go with 327 that way if something else comes up the money is in the budget.
The 327, my favorite for sure!!
I would go with a low budget engine, and if you have money left over I would put it into body work. A good looking body is what dreams are made of.
First choice LS second choice 327 third choice 400
Pretty basic, but damn informative. Haven’t given much thought about how few bolts and attachment points there are holding the running gear in place. Scary when you think about it. Love the 356!
Ls would be my choice ! whatever meets the budget!
My vote is for the 327 camel hump headed motor. If you were going all out and building a full on restomod ,then obviously the LS.keep it simple.
I had a camaro with a 327. I vote 327. I have a 6L in my hummer that just acquired a tick. Not looking forward to getting that fixed.
I vote for a 327 with what ever upgrades meet the budget. Keep it year appropriate! Put good brakes in, and make it look as cool as ya can with the money allowable. Great episode….viewers will love it!
If yall haven’t already done it keep this in mind. The rearend is a BOP 8.2 10 bolt. Not very tough. Although it does have bolt in axles.
327 is the bomb
I think the 327 fits perfect
Awesome guys
LS all the way great job guy keep up the great work
The 327 is a classic option.
Looking good ❤❤. Red Winstead from Mississippi ❤❤❤
Very cool 🤙 I just acquired a pretty nasty powered by Howard 327/powerglide that would be perfect.
Any way yall gonna build it max budget its great to this ol man .... new owner lucky to have it and theirs to choose Sir right!!
Noone looks a gift horse in the mouth in my day!!
327 for sure. Save budget now. Easy upgrade later. The 327 belongs to the car.
JF, nice video and good work. My choice LS 6.0 engine
go with the 327 use the savings else where
327 and go shopping at uncle Mike’s as you know he has parts somewhere and he needs to clean house . Bartering for things wouldn’t take away from the budget if you have something Mike wants/needs and you have it . Keep up the good work JF and Teresa . 👍
You better watch that LS I bet it’s a bad lifter and the cam is wiped out. Just go with an old school small block 350 with 305 heads.
Enjoying the progress. 👍
I would’ve assembled the leaf springs on the rearend, put the rearend on the cart you had the body sitting on an brought the car down to the rearend.
Lots of progress done in today’s podcast, good work team Killer Kustoms.
I'd normally say 327 SB. But that car.... I think a nice 6.0 would be fun. It's not like it's a high dollar nut and bolt resto. I think it be fun with the LS and T10. Would be like VGG'S Nova give away! 😆 Witch was great!
327 for period correct.
327 is the way to go.
Keep the slotted mags.
The LS probably dropped a valve seat….but I think the 383 is the best….and you can turbo it if you want….🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Car is looking better every episode you do amazing work
The 67-69 Camero are the best looking muscle car in my opinion 😎
302 Chevy small block, make it a Zapper !
Use the 6.0. This car needs to be a driver / thrasher. 6.0 best for budget / reliability and upgrades (that I will do in the future 😉)
