  • I was so fortunate to be able to buy an 86 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera and if the car itself wasn't good enough, I also received some KILLER bonus goodies, extra parts and mods that came along with the car.
In fact, there were so many extra air cooled Porsche parts that I had to fly back to Atlanta (where I had bought the car) and rent a U-Haul to carry all of the stuff back!
So...take a look at this video to see what kinds of mods had been done to my 3.2 before I bought it along with all of the extra parts that came with it. Then, please let me know your thoughts.
Comment, subscribe and give me a thumbs up!
I'd like to pretend like I'm some sort of genius negotiator to get all of these extra air cooled Porsche parts thrown into the deal, but I'm not. I was simply fortunate enough to buy my 86 from a seller who was fair and shared the same passion for the car as I do. So, as a result, the previous owner included the following goodies with this air cooled Porsche:
    Rennline Roof Rack
Extra Hood with Ciebe Rally Lights
    Tag Heuer Rally Clock Set
    Original Wheel
    Momo Prototipo Wheel
Custom Center Exit Exhaust and Headers
Custom Rear Valence Fitted to the Exhaust
    (4) Original 16" Fuch Wheels
Original Cigarette Lighter (Yes, I'm a Porsche dork who gets excited about that!)
Original Headlights (my 86 Carrera came with Euro Headlights on it)
    Carrera Script Decal
OEM spare key set with original Valet key pouch
Honestly, as I'm sitting here writing this description I almost can't believe how lucky I was not only to find an air cooled 1986 Porsche 3.2 Carrera that is super clean, well documented and had a COA....I was able to find one that came with a laundry list of really cool parts and mods!

    About My Channel:
Rennthusiast (formerly Bavarian Enthusiast TV) is for the most part a Porsche 911 channel centering on experiencing air cooled Porsches, but will also feature other vintage, analog vehicles I add to the collection. The channel is the result of my deep passion for air cooled Porsches, my interest in the air cooled Porsche community, my obsession with modding, improving, buying and selling cars in general and my desire to put myself out there on RUclips and share these passions with other enthusiasts.
As I continue to build this channel, I'll be adding more cars to the mix, and will likely branch out beyond the German sports car genre as is the case with this video. Why? Because I LOVE cool collector cars and as my interests morph and change, so will this channel.
As of the date of this video, the collection includes a 1995 Porsche 911 993 Coupe, a 1986 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Coupe, a 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo, a 2000 Toyota Landcruiser and....a 1993 Toyota Landcruiser FZJ80 (no they're not German but they've been bucket list vehicles for me so they're now in the collection).

Will I would say you made out quite well with the nice owner and all the extras he included in the deal. I too love my air cooled 1985 3.2 that I purschased in July 2018. Never knew how much fun these air cooled cars were to drive and enjoy. I own and 1987 944 and a new 2016 Boxster Spyder which I love al three in their own special way, but my triple black 911 is a real favorite. I enjoy your channel and will pass it on to my porsche buddies up here in New England.

Wow, Will, our experiences are SO similar. Bought my 3.2 from an older German fellow enthusiast who lives now in Florida. Car came with a bunch of extra goodies including bilstein dampers, tweaked suspension, lowered, HRE performance wheels, orig Fuchs, Momo and orig wheel and stock exhaust. Car had an after market exhaust on it. It was super loud, so I put the factory exhaust back on and what a difference! Anyway, amazingly similar experience and very similar cars!! All the best

Just a note on the carrera sticker.. waay cool. Highly doubt it's original as if it were it would be on the car. Not crazy about stickers, as i dont like much bling, but that sticker would look cool and really brings out the car. I have seen a few of them. It's always replaceable if you don't like it as you can still get them.

Great video, which I appreciate as a German guy and 911 owner very much. The Company that builded and still sells the rims has the name FUCHS. So the correct writing is i.e. one Fuchs rim (and not Fuch‘s) or 4 Fuchs rims. Sorry for beeing so picky, but with all your content in the videos your are so percise and correct that I couldn‘t resist to send this comment. Thank you so much for being so passionate and convinced about Porsche.

New subscriber. My opinion is to keep the car as shown with exception of putting original steering wheel back on. Sell the rest of the items except for the roof rack because it makes a great wall ornament. 911 restorers would love to buy your extras. Great looking car. Thanks for the video.

The luggage rack and spare hood look great hanging in your garage . I like your plan to run the factory steering wheel for a while: it’s really kind of special imo to experience the car as it was in 86 before deciding how and where to personalize. I swapped my factory wheel (86 Targa) for the Porsche factory accessory wheel from the period (available from Suncoast I believe) to preserve the original and enjoy something a little sportier.

Scott: I'm not sure if you got your AC sorted out, but I just added 3m crystalline tint to my car and it's made a noticeable difference. That tint doesn't have to be dark to work. I think the rear window on my coupe is the biggest contributor to the greenhouse effect, lol.

You’d mentioned giving ideas on video content and I’d like to know about putting spacers on the wheels. I understand you can only add 1/2” but I’d love to see a before and after. Sounds like too much work for a video but thought I’d mention it. I’ve been tweaking my 86’ and now I’m driving it everyday and like that idea.
I’d also love folks thoughts… I have an 86’ that’s close to excellent condition. I saw one recently sell almost identical to mine in every way for 60k. I did not pay that. I have 78k miles on it. I’m assuming the more I drive it the more the value drops. I’m “kinda” ok with that. I’m going to drive it so I might as well be but what do others think.
Just ideas. Thx for your channel. Good stuff

Hey Scott. I think you’re really talking about wheel and tire fitment and how to get the look you want. If you’re on Facebook, go join my group and ask the question there. Rennthusiast Air Cooled Porsche Fans is the name of the group.
As far as spacers, I am not a fan of them. I don’t have extensive experience but what little I have tells me I didn’t like it. I ended up chasing vibrations.
I am running 17” Euromeisters on my 86 and love the stance. I don’t know the offset but I know the wheels are flush with the fender giving the car a purposeful look.

    • @86BBUB
      @86BBUB 3 года назад

@@Rennthusiast The car handles better with 15's. It is also much more fun to drive.
"Road holding" is an entirely different matter.
I know most Porsche neophytes find that hard to believe but it is true.
Stance is really a function of suspension settings. You want Euro ride height and 15s to optimize the fun.

    • @Rennthusiast
      @Rennthusiast  3 года назад

I have the original Fuchs the PO included with the car. Perhaps I’ll swap them out and do a comparison video with the 17” wheels to see if I agree with you.
As far as your comment about “Porsche neophytes” goes, I’m not sure if that was in reference to me or newer Porsche owners in general.
If it was pointed in my direction I feel compelled to share that I currently own 2 air cooled Porsche 911 coupes (993 and 3.2) as well as a 997.1 911 Turbo coupe in 6MT...and I drive the hell out of all 3.
I have also owned a 997.2 C4S PDK coupe which I put a lot of seat time in.
So, I have driven different variations of the 911 extensively and spiritedly and am very familiar with suspension set up and wheel/tire combos and their impact on the handling characteristics of these cars.
As a result of this, I do believe I have enough experience to have an informed opinion on this issue.
Again, thanks for watching and as always, I welcome input, thoughts and feedback so thanks again for weighing in.
