To all the veterans and active duty service members in the comments section! Thank you for your service 🙏🙏.
Words aren’t enough to express the gratitude and respect for your dedication and sacrifice to this country! While I may not be on the level to understand the intricacies of this ceremony what I can do is use this platform to stand alongside with you all (even though it’s mostly about airplanes 😅) .
Regarding the noise at LAX that you all witnessed in the video, Delta Airlines terminal is notorious for playing loud music starting at 4am to midnight so for anyone passing through Delta T2 and T3 prepare as necessary

I was on a flight from MN and the guy sitting next to me was in uniform. When we landed, he got off first and we all waited on the plane as he went out and met the body of his fallen friend. It was the same ceremony you captured. Sadly, some people on the plane were complaining out loud that they had to wait on the plane for the ceremony. If they only stopped to realize they’d probably be on a train to a prison camp rather than a comfy jet plane if soldiers didn’t fall for their freedom. Sorry to put a negative vibe out there, but people can be completely ignorant more often than not.

I was on a flight from Seattle to Dallas with a fallen soldier. It was incredibly sad but beautiful. Luckily everyone on the flight was respectful and understanding. There were many tears. Anyone that would seriously complain at that moment should lose their US citizenship. Everything we have is because these men and women fight for our freedoms every single day. Never take that for granted.

I was coming into Denver when the Captain announced that we had a special deboarding of a fallen soldier. And that we would not be deplaning until after he had been escorted off the plane. The cabin was silent. Tears on many faces. It is the most humbling moment. These heros deserve every bit of honor and respect. 😢

In ATL we have painted equipment with all branches of the military emblems painted on the cart we use. Special tugs also are painted with military emblems
We have a specially trained employees that remove the coffins from the aircraft. It's not an easy job. It's very emotional. The families of the fallen military person are escorted to ship side to witness the removal. The military sometimes sends escorts. It's done with dignity and respect. You can see Delta employees at the aircraft paying their respects to the fallen and their families.

Watching this I can't imagine why the families of the 13 service men killed in Afghanistan could stand by the traitor that for 4 years promised to bring the troops home. DJT had no problem helping to have 5000 Taliban terrorists released from prison. One of them probably responsible for their slaughtered. Yet this POS stood their smiling and giving the thumps up just for a campaign photo op. This POS is responsible for their slaughtered. I hope the family think about how he called their children suckers and losers. I cry for each of these brave heros.

As a veteran, I was honored to attend and bear witness to one of these ceremonies. Even after passengers were allowed to disembark from the plane, many remained in their seats respectfully watching thru the windows. What they didn't know, was that this family had waited over 60 years for this moment. You see, my uncle died in a POW camp during the Korean War and was buried in a mass grave. In a joint agreement in the 90's several crates of remains were delivered to Hawaii for possible identification thru DNA analysis. It was my mother and sister who flew to Hawaii to escort my uncle's remains home. I will be forever grateful to the DPAA for their dedication to identifying and returning fallen servicemen and women to their families, and to Delta for their gracious handling of these matters.

In the first weekend of April 2003, I had to escort my best friend, who had survived two back to back deployments, and died in a car accident one month after his return. The flight was from RDU to OKC with a layover in Atlanta. Delta took me down the ramp, and underneath the terminal to sit with the casket. In OKC, I was allowed to again go outside the plane to make sure the casket was being taken care of from baggage to the funeral coach. It was. Delta took very good care of SGT John A. Shoemaker and myself. They didn’t rush when I needed a minute to cry. I’m sure most airlines treat our fallen heros just as well, but I’ll never forget how far out of their way they went for me and my friend.

Yes, it was an unpopular war (is there ever such a thing as a popular one?), and yes, it was one we should never have gotten involved in. However, those who served should still have been shone respect. Most were drafted and had no choice but to serve. And they did so with courage and honor and great sacrifice.

I was changing planes at Chicago O’Hare in the early 2000’s and witnessed the arrival of a fallen soldier and it was the most amazing experience to watch the complete professional ground crew handle this very sombering moment in time

This is one of the most solemn and sad events you will ever experience. The airplane is extremely quiet as everyone sits and waits for the fallen soldiers family to leave the plane (if they are on board). Then most of the people in the terminal stand in respect for the soldier as he is loaded from the plane into the car. I'll never forget this experience and will enjoy my freedom based on the life he gave.

as combat veteran, nothing hurts more than to see a fallen angel. once the callsign fallen angel is broadcasted on the net, everyone goes silent. There is that eerie feeling that you get. I was part of a fallen angel procession and I felt really uncomfortable due in part that I knew that fallen angel personally. It was sad that I couldnt escort that fallen angel home and say goodbye for the last time. Civilians need to understand that if there is a fallen angel on board the flight and it is announce. please take the time to pay respects to the fallen angel as he gave his life defending this country.

    • @richardcline1337
      @richardcline1337 9 дней назад

bankshot3122, although many of today's youth and those that have never served never understand about vets is that, no matter what branch you served in or where you served, there is a bond between vets that is just indescribable. One of the greatest honors I have ever received came from a WWII plank owner of the USS Wisconsin. I was in a store shopping for groceries and as usual I was wearing my Vietnam Era Vet baseball cap. This man, a hero of the Greatest Generation, stopped and walked over to me. He thanked me for my service and then I saw his cap. I almost broke into tears. Here is a man whose generation went through pure hell both in Europe and in the Pacific to give us what we have today and he is thanking me? We stood and talked for about 45 minutes while his precious wife stood patiently by as we talked. As he turned to leave, he said something that just about ripped my heart out of my chest. He said he never regrets for one moment the sacrifices he and those of his generation gave to save our country but he he HATED the fact that our government treats illegals like royalty but his men and women have to FIGHT for every dime they get from the VA! What a condemnation of what this county has become! If I never get to meet him again, I really knew I was standing in the presence of a really great man. Thank you for your service, my friend!

As the proud daughter of a Korean War vet in the Army and dad who served in the National Guard until manditory retirement at age 60, i'm 63 now and they held daddies papers for three months during Desert Storm in 1990 (my dad was a 30 model, as he put it). I am in awe and respect of anyone or means to help and honor our military of every branch and to get them home. I loved it when mom would drive us to meet convoy just coming back from 2 week camp at camp Shelby, Hattiesburg, MS Daddy had green fatigues, now they are tan, but did witness convoy coming home several years ago after getting a Krystal burger and of course I stopped , saluted and waved and welcomed troop home but not without a tear.My daddy never left the house without a flag pin on him or a ball cap or whatever. Instead of boutonniere, pall bearers wore one of daddy's many, many, many pins he had and I still have a few after 3-1.2 years. Don't know why I shared this story because my dad came home safe before I was born. Was a Master Sergeant in Guard, but took a demotion not to go back to Korea. Daddy passed of natural causes at age 90. He loved his country, his flag. Had stickers on our old front door, "Land of the Free BECAUSE of the Brave", Just want this family to know their loved one didn't pass in vain and served his country well. And thank you to ALL military out there for serving!!!!! God, please, Bless America!!!

Exactly what I was thinking. Everyday life going on around the airport as this soldier's family welcome them home.
It doesn't matter so much what they were wearing. They were there. The normalcy of the airport struck me. An ordinary day in everyone else's day, was one of the worst in this family's life. Maybe the had no money for clothes, maybe grief was too strong. Just be glad it wasn't your loved one being brought home in a coffin.
