Chef Gordon Ramsay hits the road to help struggling restaurants all over the United States turn their luck around. Ramsay examines the problems each establishment faces, from unsanitary refrigerators to lazy or inexperienced staff, and searches for resolutions. With help from his team, Ramsay redecorates each eatery to give it a fresh new look and updates the menu as needed. Ramsay's ultimate goal is to make the restaurants he visits popular and profitable, but it's up to the restaurateurs to take his advice and turn their business nightmare into the American dream.

Not quite. The trick is knowing two things: 1) the difference between a "job" and a "career"; and 2) the difference between a "passion" and a "hobby."
Jobs are what you do to pay the bills, careers are what you do for personal fulfillment.
Likewise, hobbies are what you do for fun, and passions are what you do to feel alive.
The biggest mistake people make isn't turning their passions into their jobs, but turning their hobbies into their careers. If you enjoy doing something, but maybe you wouldn't enjoy doing it ten hours a day or more, then you shouldn't turn it into a job. I like cooking as a hobby, but I would NEVER want to work in the food industry. On the other hand, writing is my true passion, and I could do that ten hours a day and be willing to deal with all the pain and the bs that comes with making your way in that industry because that's what gives me a sense of personal fulfillment.
Ideally, you would make a career out of your passion, but not everyone has that kind of a passion. Some people just have hobbies, and some people are fine just working a typical 9-5 in order to pay the bills and allow them the time and luxury to pursue those hobbies. The key to happiness in that case is just having the good sense not to force your hobby to become a career just because you think you MIGHT be good at it. If you don't have the drive to deal with all the stress and the hurdles that come with a career, then just do it for yourself in your off-time.

Sadly, some things are too far gone for anyone to salvage, as was the case for Love Bites. In the follow-up portion of the episode, we learn that Keff and Robinson sold the restaurant just two months after filming, shutting down operations before the episode aired. In an Instagram post from the restaurant's page, the caption (presumably written by Chris, states, "This has been a hard post to think about, type and even post. Let us start off like we always do by saying you guys are the best and we love you! Our customers are friends and some have become like family. We wouldn't trade these last 6 years of serving you for anything! But the time has come and We are on to our next adventure, But know we are leaving you in very good hands!"
While the ownership is changing, it seems that the café with retain at least part of the Ramsay-fied menu. The caption goes on to say, "We will miss you all and even though Chris and I will no longer be apart [sic] of the business at 69 partition street our recipes and imprint will live through the new cafe! We will be transitioning ownership in the near future. Thank you all for an amazing 6 years!!!
the engaged couple desperately needed time out of the restaurant and apart from each other in general. "We can't sacrifice our relationship for the restaurant. We need to heal together," Keff said in a post-filming testimonial. Ramsay ends his narration of the episode by saying that the two have decided to focus on repairing the relationship.

Ehlers Danlos(same condition she has)/disabled gal here again. This episode left me quite disturbed. As I’ve said before, this guy gives me bad vibes. I’m not saying he’s abusive per say, but…. If he’s willing to behave in this way on camera what else is he doing? AWhile ago I had a partner who was exactly like this. I’m not kidding when I say that my abusive ex nearly killed me. He was a very selfish & sick man. Don’t think that I didn’t notice how this gentleman tried to make his digestive issues from anxiety steam roll hers when she’s literally had surgeries removing her guts. I know you must be empathetic to both parties’ situations but c’mon! From what I saw, given that this is reality tv, he’s also quick to excuse himself too via his poor mental health. Doesn’t sound as if he has any real respect for hers!
While it’s unfortunate that their source of income, their restaurant, closed I am also concerned that she might be isolated with him which can potentially make things even worse from what I have experienced. However I’m hopeful things can all end in the best case scenarios for all parties. That’s what everyone wants. Don’t want to judge too quickly

Seems like very reasonable conclusion to me.
Some of us just can’t get angry like these people do, and it’s all genders (I know you know this). I have personally thought about this while living with someone who would get passive aggressive, and usually controlling people need ample communication. A lot of us read in-between the lines, but those who get upset quickly don’t fill things in as often. They need a linear pattern to grab ahold to. And if you forget about that they start to seethe and see your actions as malicious. When you stop communicating it will always build with certain types of people, even though you shouldn’t need to communicate in a rigid linear way.
Guarantee he justified it as her starting the issue (well he did say that), when the reality was it was a very innocent scenario with no one at fault.
It seems like a classic pattern of the inability to snap out of thinking patterns and see other perspectives when they truly need to see them.

while not perfect, this approach from gordon actually seemed a lot more mature, genuine and almost fatherly lecture like then some of his other reprimands. idk if it's because he's older and mroe mature, or maybe it's that other times he was under greater pressure, but he actually gave this guy some solid advice, didn't cuss him out, and was at least somewhat empathetic despite being mad at him, i was expecting him to fully take the woman's side and go on some rant about how he's some pos that should never treat women like that but he stayed somewhat impartial.

have you actually seen kitchen nightmares before. There isn't a single episode where Gordon isn't unreasonable. He doesn't just start cussing people for no reason. He only does it when people are absolutely delusional.

My parents almost divorced when we had our restaurant in Brooklyn NY. The first 2 years were rought but the last 3 we found success in the business but still my mom found herself doing more work than my dad plus all the things she did when she would come home late at 8 pm every night. My dad even had us open during important holidays. Many times my dad would just chill and watch tv in the restaurant and my mom had no break . It got so bad that my middle sister suggested it was ok for my mom to ask for a divorce as that’s how’s bad it was. We lived in NJ so they would have to be stuck in traffic everyday just to get home and they would have serious arguments on the drive home. Once I had to intervene because I told them I didt want to die in a car crash as they argued during the drive home. My mom would say “let a car kill me so I wouldn’t have to live this life” What’s worse is he had me and my sisters work for him and he depended on us too much. People don’t realize how miserable these things can be. Anyway my dad owns the building and decided to lease the restaurant to someone and my parents marriage was saved. My mom must have been miserable all those 5 yrs

I have a passion for cooking. I've worked in the food service industry. I wouldn't want to try owning & operating a restaurant. It's a lot to take on. So much money & management goes into staffing & inventory & then you have to keep everyone at least satisfied & still make enough to pay all the bills, which add up very quickly.

As someone who had severe mental health issues, took it out on people I cared about, and regretted it, I'm nauseated Gordon Ramsay used the two words you should never use when dealing with a man dealing with mental health issues "Man up"

    • @melvin3697
      @melvin3697 10 месяцев назад +3

It depends on the person. People are very irregular creatures. I was in the same boat, mental health issues that made me lash out against loved ones.
For me it was the right person, the right words before the last words spoken that were in fact "man up".
Because for some the issues originated from being treated to well and wanting too much, and they like me sometimes need a slap in the face and a man up.
But like i said, were all different. Whatever works for who.

It's men's mental health month and this episode and the reaction is a reminder of how performative men's mental health movement really is
It's always the safe "men can cry too"
I grew up and dealt with a lot of mental health issues from people I cared about and there was one consistency, berating them or treating the symptoms of their mental health issues as a personal failing never solved the issue.
It doesn't absolve him of how he acted, but men who express symptoms of mental health in an unhealthy fashion are just as deserving of recovery as ones who deal with it in the way you deem acceptable.
If that doesn't resonate with you then you should ask yourself, why do you care about mental health? Do you claim it to look good or because you believe mental health is a cross boundary issue and those afflicted deserve recovery.
