Although I'm not buying a new car soon, I'm absolutely addicted to Mat's reviews. Even when he was reviewing for carbuyer, he did the best ones. Cheers from Portugal.
only thing about estate vs suvs is that suvs can gain room without getting so long. Since I dont care about having a sporty drive, I rather get room without gaining so much length which can make maneuvering stressful in small parking lots in the city.
And two of them were nonsense: a digital driver's display is an option for €500 and the power dial doesn't rotate on the bigger touchscreen. The third fault was on the looks which for some is perfect, leaving carwow with two tiny things to dislike about the Skoda.
@@mehimre9249 yeah my grandparents have just got a 2017 one and it really looks much better in person and surprisingly sleek and not as boxy as I was expecting with plenty of creases
Skoda internal meeting: [Engineer 1] How can we improve this car? [Engineer 2] Get VW to stop being stingy with parts so we can actually make the car we wanted. [Engineer 1] _But then who would buy the Passat?_ 🤔
I have L&K Superb Combi and it has the best price/value... power heated and ventilated and massage leather seats... adaptive CC... huge cargo space... BMW Audi or MB with those specs would cost 60 - 80k eur... and superb "only" 45
I just have to say that your reviews are the best here on RUclips! I've watched all your videos like 10 times each. The funny thing though is that I'm 13 and will probably not buy a car for the next 5 or 10 years.
I've got a 2014 Superb hatchback. 10 years old, 47k on the clock. It's like driving a new car. It's effortless, a gallon of diesel seems to go gor ever. Best car I've ever owned.
Why would you want a Rolls Royce? Basically the same legroom in the back, both come with umbrellas, Skoda's more practical. Slower, but hey. If you get the 280 4x4 (Shame it's not a 6 cylinder anymore) it'll be pretty much as fast, though. Winner!
@1:10 you don't have to lean in through the trunk to fold up seats, those two small hinges right after the voltage socket assembly actually fold the rear seats without need to cramp yourself inside
Ex Jag owner for 12 years (models from XE, XJ, XF, XK and XKR ). Prior to that I had BMW 3, 4 and 7 series. Bought a 280PS LnK 4WD estate 6 months ago for £37k as we got ourselves a dog. Best value for money car I have owned. Great to drive and very comfortable. Plus it can move along when required. I will have another (maybe the hybrid when it comes out next year).
The reviews always say that the rear seat don't fold flat, but they DO! You have to lift the rear seat bases up and forward as well as lowering the backs.
I was a passenger in a diesel 2014 Octavia Estate on a long drive from Rumford to Newport and back. Insanely comfortable car with superb ride quality, even over bumpy roads in Wales when we took a detour to a small inn near Symonds Yat.
In my 20s I would have balked at the idea of buying a Skoda estate. However I have completely different values in my 30s and this ticks every single box: Reliable, comfortable, economical and low key. Boring to other drivers but chock full of useful little features.
I genuinely don't get why any carmakers make cars with this specific shade of red. It just doesn't suit anything. It either has to be a more specific shade or darker to work with any car, especially bigger cars like this.
currently in the market for a new car and your fantastic reviews definitely help making a shortlist! I think the Skoda Superb is going to the top of the list
I own a 2018 1.6 tdi Se 7 speed dsg and it is a fantastic car. It doesn’t however return anything near the quoted mpg figures. Around town it will achieve low 40’s at best and on motorway at 70 more like high 50’s / very low 60’s. I am an experienced driver and know how to drive economically and do not have the car packed with extra weight etc.
You know what's amazing about it? For 45k you can get the sport line with 280 hp, 4x4 and dsg transmission with a shitload of features (heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, heated weel, remote start for winter and a hell of a lot more), with very good interior materials and it goes from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds a bit. That is just ridiculously good value for a very practical and very capable car.
They have studies the US market. The market here doesn't need a rapid shifting gearbox, which in the VW group us wing has got problems. Neither the US need a proper handling car, they rather need a more soft riding plush one with a high torque V6 which has Toyota badge on it.
a renault talisman grand tour costs arround 10 grand less and offers more equipement, but the skoda's boot is slightly bigger therefore the renault's seats are way more comfy, adjustable and offer massage funktion. the skodas seats are quite small which make it seem to have way more legroom than other do, which is easy to achieve with such short seatroom
Skoda superb estate 206tsi with a stage 2 revo technik software upgrade...my next car. I love the Octavia vrs that I've got, but want all 4 wheels driving.
Well done Matt, up to your old tricks again I see. I am sure this is a good car but wouldn't it be a good idea to compare this VAG product to something other than another VAG product; the Passat?
I would be really grateful if somebody could answer the following question; what material is the door padding made of, on a style (used in europe) trim, with the alcantara upholstery? In the sportsline version, I know for a fact that it is also alcantara, not quite sure about Style though. Thanks in advance, I know this isn't an easy question, but I myself just can't find any information on it.
One thing that annoyed me about the car is the headlights, in the uk they're standard halogen lights where elsewhere they have the xenons, even ireland and we usually have less spec in the cars
The Superb is a great car, but one thing I find irritating is that 7 times out of 10 the glovebox doesn't fit properly and is wonky when closed, a small attention to detail which lets the car down
That rotating on logo would drive me insane. It's little things like that that spoil an interior for me. Although, I do think the Superb is the best car in it's class.
AnishGaming about 70% of cars on the road are silver and black. individually their cool nice but on the road they just merge with the rest of the boring silvers greys and blacks
Need a big keenly priced family wagon to shift dirty dogs, kids, cycles & other sports equipment across town or the country. Even my wife would struggle to fill this one with shopping bags regularly. We only have the dirty dogs & boating kit so our Fabia estate does just fine.
Three of those annoying features were the same on a 2014 golf I had (dial centre mono display, on symbol on vol dial, button blanks around gear lever, except my golf had more of them in use).
The estate Skoda is much better looking than the awkward saloon. The extra length in the saloon gives a weird looking midriff, which is absent in the handsome estate. I reckon a lowish spec works best, since options and higher specs whittle away at the cost savings. The base model is surprisingly light too, so the 1.4 150 ps is plenty even laden. Good for all but towing, so get a tent.

This car is the antidote to all these horrid SUVs that everybody is buyng these days.
Exactly why I bought mine.

Yep same here. I’ve just ordered one for a company car. Had a VW Passat prior truly awful car.

@@matty6848 what specifically didn't you like? I'm looking at used wagon options and have heard of VW reliability problems

Pretty decent wagon if you only need the basics. I really like its look, just don't get it in red o_o
It's hardly basic in top of the range model...
It looks decent in red too, but only if you take the Sportline-model with black accents, big wheels and lowered suspension.
I just don't understand why reviewers keep getting this without LED headlights?!
ThinkCleverAndSmart me neither. we have the superb with the leds, and it just looks sooo much better!
