    I've done lots of GM bearings mainly because there was bearing noise, but have done 2 really quiet bearings because the magnetic strip was gone. These were both front bearings so its not just the back ones. Install the new bearing with a good coating of anti-seize. I have customers who keep their vehicles a long time and have done some bearings twice. Years later the bearing will come out easy if it's slathered with anti seize compound.

      I have a 2015 Impala Limited with 95 K. When I back out and turn Left, or brake into a left turn, the Service Stabilitrac and ABS comes on with power reduction. I usually feel a snagging in I think the left front hub. The f'n Used Ford dealer I bought it from's mechanic told me it was a Wheel Beaing issue, but he never did fix it right. I have a feeling it is a bad L front circular Magnetic Strip Sensor you mention above. I have managed to keep driving by stopping and parking, and doing a restart, which would clear the Traction Control lights, and probably dislodge the strip when a stopped and parked it. Now It's gotten worse, and I can't get the lights to turn off. If the Magnetic Strip Sensor is bad, can it be replaced alone, or does the whole hub assembly have to be replaced?

    same problem 2014 malibu (POS) car! Parked on Sun night no problem, got in it Monday all lights came on ABS Service STABILITRAK and the little car skidding! WE checked all wheels cleaned sensors and did notice on back left the magnetic stip with part of it missing...so THIS is it? which if i understand will be the bearing to be replaced correct? and hopefully all the lights will go out once replaced? Your video and answers are on it! Thanks.

    Twice I got the Stability Trak warning. But it went away by itself, the problem is that now the tire that is behind the driver's side when you brake something hard gets stuck, what can I do? I am from Mexico trying to communicate with you to know if you think it could be this failure of what you mention, no workshop can find the problem. I don't have any light on or abs, nothing, also, it is worth mentioning that if the tire is immobilized, then you step on the brake several times, it comes off, the tire moves forward again, but I want to not struggle any suggestions? I have already asked for enough money 😢, already changed front brake pads, rectified discs, purged all the tires and nothing, now they told me to change the brake pump to see if it is solved, because the brake was also sinking a lot, so they filled and purged, but it remained the same. It is malibu 2013, comes from the snow, if this little rust from below. I ask you please for an opinion. Thank you!

      Steve Roehl yes I have they have the same design bearing. I have seen one issue recently with the sensor have to much air gap between the sensor and the bearing. What caused it was the bearing had so much corrosion and dirt it wore down the sensor rubbing on it. Look for that to you should be able to see visible signs on The sensor

    • @smrdmr1
      @smrdmr1 6 лет назад +1

      Liftittotheroof thank you. There is a tech bulletin for a shield to stop corrosion and dirt from getting in the bearing. Go figure they fucked up and we're paying for it. I was a tech for GM for 28 years and saw this shit everyday.

      I have 13 Malibu too. The abs light came on, stable track error and now the brake light stays on. I got 74k miles.. Chevy shouldn't have won all the awards or at least not for malibu... the brake sensor alone is 536..crappy

    How do know which one it's the one with the problem??

    • @liftittotheroof1876

      If you scan the abs module with a scan tool it will tell you which wheel is having problems. If you dont have a scan tool the only thing you can do is visually inspect the back side of the bearing and see if the strip/ tone ring is damage on all your wheels. Definately the harder way but it will keep you from paying diag fees.

  • @1111comment

    Can a bad tone ring somehow be related to a rough idle and rpm surge when the weather is 85-90°?

      @@space_mans I just changed my radiator and added a hayden transmission cooler (677) this week. Coolant looked milky when I drained it; guessing the transmission line broke inside it.
      Last year, drained and filled trans fluid a couple times, and added lucas transmission slip fluid (amazing stuff). This made a huge difference.
      Hoping new radiator & cooler smooths the rest out. (Transmission work pricing has gotten the ‘pandemic double’ this year; need to avoid that)

    Got a question. I replaced my wheel bearing, and put grease all over the ring , can that be the problem? Will I have to buy another wheel bearing??? PLEASE HELP ME OUT

    • @liftittotheroof1876
      @liftittotheroof1876  6 лет назад

      I would try to remove the grease as soon as possible. This could absolutley be the problem. You can not have anything on or covering that ring because that's what the sensor get it reading off of. I get why you put grease on it but keep in mind grease will attract dirt and other material and stick In the grease. I don't know if the bearing will be damaged the sooner you clean it the better your chances are.

    Hello, i have a question just had my left rear hub and ABS speed sensor changed by Certified Chevy dealership, the next day the same light came on i took it back to the dealership and they said it is now my left front sensor and hub. What are the chances this can happen back to back ? and do you recommend changing the hub and sensor or could i just change the sensor ? 2013 Mailbu eco

    • @liftittotheroof1876
      @liftittotheroof1876  6 лет назад

      It seems kinda of weird the next day makes me think maybe they replaced the wrong one. But on a side note as a mechanic I have seen this happen and also have been in this situation with customers as long as you feel they are trustworthy then yes it could be legit. The rear wheel bearings are the only one you have an option of changing the sensor. The front bearing come with the sensor so you have no choice. Chances are you didnt have to change the rear sensor unless they saw damage or corrosion on the terminals

    • @nicolastefanovic2968

      @@liftittotheroof1876 there was the same thing that you showed in the rear where it had that flaking so the sensor wasn't reading it. So they said it had all had to be e changed. Any ways thank you for the feedback it makes me feel a little better

  • @davepompea

    Yeah, mine just did this. Wish we could just glue on another ring. Why isn't GM fixing this for free due to it being a poor design?
    How many labor hours to replace it? I see that the parts store sells the hub just north of $100 but don't want to get ripped off on labor.

    • @liftittotheroof1876
      @liftittotheroof1876  6 лет назад

      Should be around 1hrs labor. They come out hard often times because the steel and aluminum corrod together I just use a BFH (big f***en hammer) and it will loosen up.
