In Canada, prices are $153 vs $666 ( not a joke ) plus tax, which means there is 0% chance I'm spending over $500 on a single pump. And I'm almost positive most reefers feel the same way, build quality or not. Jebao pumps are great! Can't wait to see your next comparison
Yeah, Ive used some very cheap Jerepet pumps on Amazon that sort of look like a ai Nero. But they are only like 70-80ish bucks for a 3400 gph pump that works great
@@cantusaurus8530 German 'Premium' brand 'Aqua Medic' uses the same design, too. But to compare, the Jebao SLW-10 (or MLW-10) are around 100 Euro a pop, the smallest AquaMedic Smart Drift 3.1 is 160 Euro. And the AM ones are utter shit when it comes to adding them into WiFi for app control, and they don't have bluetooth or AP mode as alternative.
The magnet inside the wetside can indeed be accessed. However, it’s not as readily accessible as it is on the VorTech. If you look closely, you’ll notice some “click tabs” around the circular base of the wetside. These must be depressed to release, and then the magnet can be accessed. I used a small screwdriver to press the tabs.
I've been looking for a way to get more movement in my bigger tank without having to hide cords. Simple choice, now that some of my favorite youtubers have these!
The impeller was loose on the jacod because it's built in reverse of the mp40. Meaning the ceramic rod is attached to the cage on the jacod, where the mp40 is attached to the magnet side.
I think we can safely say there won't be an ecotech sponsorship opportunity for the channel any time soon 😁 btw you can get into the bit you couldn't open, it has clips you press in 👍
I bought the dmp 30 for my tank and it works great so far! Can't even hear it at all either. Glad they ripped off ecotech, people can't afford these insane prices from ecotech. I'm not sure where you got yours from, but mine has some differences compared to yours, it doesn't have the adapter nor the extra circles in the cage like yours either.
what an awesome review, some guys have reviewed it already but clearly want to extend video time for youtube & make it difficult to watch with their blabber.
Nice unboxing Alex 👌🏼 Tbh seeing it I think for the price it looks decent, I'm sure once they have sold I few they may even improve the cage further, I think the Dmp-30 for me will try one & probably order another soon after ☺️
Ordered a 40 off the back of your news item on the the live stream. Mine has been stuck in Customs for the last 3 days. Have 3x mp40s on my 7 footer, always felt a bit more flow would beneficial. Think your negatives are fair enough, but at less than half the price I can live with that. Bit, the suction cups are a massive pro to me, my first is going on the back wall, if I’m happy I’ll get another to go on the other side of the Weirbox. From what I’ve seen elsewhere I think a rundown on the app would be useful. Particularly if you can find a way to have fluctuating speed on “random mode”
I'm looking forward to the comparison test to see which is quieter? I bought a pair of Maxspect XF350 Gyres because they were supposed to be 'near-silent' - they are not !!
I’d be interested in the voltages of the power block and that it’s designed for UK voltages, I’d assume so but the fact it’s an American plug is concerning. Looks good can’t wait to see what your thoughts are when it’s in use, could it actually be a competitor?!
From the look of that initial weird 3 prong plug that's not American. I watched another review from an American, and apparently, we receive a converter as well.
I got my DMP 30 from Aliexpress as well, and that came with the correct 3 pin plug so I expect they either picked wrong and threw in an adapter or they ran out of UK ones and sent you an equivalent. I couldn't do an Ecotech comparison on my video, but you obviously get what you pay for. Isn't the DMP 40 the equivalent of the MP 60 ? 🤔
@@ReefDorkXtra I am trying to put together a 40 breeder. I want to use all jebao dc pumps. I want a gyre pump and a return pump. Can you recommend the appropriate pumps? Please and thank you.
Not sure it's fair to say it feels poorer designed with the impellor movement when that movement is clearly designed in. "Differently designed" but not necessarily worse would be my take.

@@cantusaurus8530 the nero lookalikes are basically the same pump. they use they same license as AI. AI didnt invent the design

The ice cap battery backup works fine with jecod control boxes

I was looking at these last week on AliExpress so thanks for your initial impressions
Swap wet sides with mp40 , someone said it work on mp10 so maybe mp40 as well, worth check all variants 😊
awaiting on my dmp 20 patiently !
Where did you buy them?
My 2x MPD40s arrived with UK kettle lead in box with no adapter. I did specify UK on the order page

Does your tracking say your order has seen an unforeseen issue? Just wondering as mine is saying that
I’m glad there’s some competitors for Ecotech/AI, because their prices have become outrageous.

Great review btw
Nice I think mine comes in this week, is that a breitling?
Yep, Navitimer
I've found the dry side to work upside down no issue there so far.
I reckon the tunze safety connecter will work for the battery backup
The best thing about the jecod is u dont have to buy a brand new external if the box breaks down.
That's an AU (AUS) power plug for Australia!

Is there a jecod equivalent of the MP10 as well? If so can we assume the same as the Jecod MP40?
Yep, they have a few size options

No, it's equivalent to the MP40. DMP-40 is rated at 20k lph, MP40 is "17k+" lph, MP60 is 34k lph.
@ReefDorkXtra ok cool. Told you I never had an MP ! 😆
To be fair not a damn bad pump for $130 compared to $800 lol I bought 2 of the 20’s they have been great
Very exciting. I can finally afford a “mp40”
What size do you recommend for a 40 gallon breeder
You want 2 powerheads, opposite each other. I'm not familiar with the full DMP-40 lineup, but the DMP-40 would be far too big for a 40g
I've looked it up now - I'd probably go for 2 DMP-20s

Nice one does the mp40 wetside work on the DMP40 dryside ???
@@GazzasReef I've been wondering that too, would be great to find out!
Pretty sure telegraham said they do fit if they are a similar size
Yup they work
Do they do the mp10 version
Yep

Jecod is a better product, EcoTech is a ripoff
