    as someone who bought a v specific style of jadeite teacups from anchor hocking (the jane ray pattern) bc of a film they feature in (in the mood for love) and autism, i am so happy to hear that the brand wong kar-wai used in his film is the one without the uranium. thank you!

    I didn't know that about the uranium component. And while I was sure I had nothing that old, I got out my black light to check, & confirmed I have nothing that glows. I used to have a larger collection but when Martha Stewart started displaying her collection in her studio kitchen, prices out here started escalating. In one shop, the owner had even set aside some pieces requested by Martha herself. So, I sent my entire collection up to the Santa Margarita Auction House, which a friend & I frequented, thinking the auctioneers would separate out my pieces for more money. Nope. They sold the whole batch as one lot, & my take-home profits took a substantial hit. Around here, I don't think I'd get lucky to find dealers haunting garage sales for my current pieces should I decide to sell. So. It just sits in a cupboard. Sigh.---I frequently scope out the Goodwill Auction site, & one year a set of the delphite blue tear drop bowls came up for sale...wow...the final price was over $500!

    • @66uniqueantiques
      @66uniqueantiques  Год назад

      That is crappy about the auction but I’ve seen it happen so many times as well. I sees these only going up in value so I think sitting on them will be ok

    This has been so helpful. Thank you. I have collected the Fire King Jadeite since the 1980's. I hadn't realized it was still popular. I only have about one or two pieces of the rare other brands. Thanks for letting me know that it will glow with a flashlight. Now I can tell precisely what I have. Have you done any vlogs on Uranium glass specifically? I would like to see that in the future if you haven't. Much appreciated!
