I purchased the 1.5L Sport for the same reasons. I'm also in MD and have customers all over the state so I put on a lot of miles per year. 33mpg at 65mph MAYBE, real life mileage is more like 24 day to day. Not good at all. My 18 Cruze diesel is 48mpg lifetime. Impossible not to get 50 on the highway even at 80-85mph. This accord is Faaaaaar from an economy car

So again I say, most people don't buy a car thinking about hoping they can beat a modded Camry out of a stop light.
Same exact reasons why I went with the 1.5t. If I’m going to buy a performance car it’s going to be a mustang, camaro, bmw m...ext. I’m buying a Honda for reliability and mpg.

@@theanimeotaku2794 yeah I use premium gas, oil etcetera. Most new cars need this now. That's probably why people have issues with these cars putting in 87 gas or cheap oil changes with low grade oil. It's kinda just self explanatory if you buy a new car dont you wanna put the best products in it. And by the way 3 to 4k for oil change is normal I've dont that for all of my cars even my old accord and prelude always every 3 to 4k this 10k on an oil change is absurd. Most people drive chaotic and heavy footed and now most cars are turbo which means you need to change it more frequently. Also have to keep in mind driving a turbo car you shouldn't jump in start it and go. Let the Rpms drop a little let it get a little warm especially in cold climates. Non of this is new its things that Honda advises and in actcually how you should always treat your car. Dont floor it drive aggressively and then just shut the car off that's not good for the turbo. I suggest if you buy a car you should probably learn how the car is intended to be treated the average person just thinks start go stop lol
Got the 1.5T last month with 7 miles on the clock and now at over 2k miles. For a person that drives 37 miles one way to work, the base 1.5T just made more sense. Plus, the 1.5T Sport is a great value overall and performs phenomenally in all conditions so far. I had a 2013 Sport and Honda took an already excellent formula and made it better. The 2 liter is nice to have, however isn't necessary to get around even in heavy interstate driving.
Mine is a 2018 1.5 and we love it. Great on gas, drives great, has plenty power and everything. I chose it because it offers everything I needed and more. By the way, it just turn 20,000 miles.
vid could of been shorter by stating those points without repeating them. 2.0 get's you more features besides JUST the "civic type R motor with less boost". & if you want auto, 10spd vs cvt is no contest. 2.0 sport with 10spd is Honda's best value on the lot. i work there, civic's&crv's get all the sales but they aren't even close to the value of an accord.
Good idea. My 2015 honda accord was rear ended. Thinking about after it's fixed, that'll be my daily commuter and getting the 2021 or 2022 honda accord as back up
I got a 2.0t 6MT. I average about 24 MPG with mostly city and short freeway jaunts. Ive got a bit over 30 on long freeway trips. Im 5 months in and at 4300 miles and drive about 5 miles to and from work. I love it. It has just the right amount of power for me. I drove a 1.5t 6MT. that was a hard no. Previous car was a 2004 TSX with a K24 and I didnt feel like the 1.5 was an upgrade from that. Therefore there would have been no point in getting the accord. I do feel like the factory tune has this 2.0t neutered a bit. I am tempted to do a hondata tune to really unleash it but Im afraid for my warranty. Dude you should waited for the new Insight. They are pretty good looking and rated at 50 ish MPG. What MPG are you getting?
I just got a Sport 1.5t 6MT as a daily driver (I also have an SUV which is sitting in the garage now, it’ll be for longer drives to visit family, as a backup or guest car, and if I need to haul something). My SUV gets 18 MPG, I wanted something which got at least 30 and was fun to drive. I’m seeing 32 so far (barely broken in) so I’m thrilled with it. The Civic’s manual had a little shorter clutch and throw so it was more fun, but it was just too small for me. Fortunately this car had been sitting on the lot for months so I was able to get a better price on it than my spouse got on a Civic EX six months ago (when I first saw this car). I didn’t like the styling in pictures and I don’t usually care for black interiors, but I fell in love with this car when I saw it in person. I hope to keep it for a long time (especially because I think the manual transmission will be disappearing in the next 1-2 generations of cars).
I'm hitting 55-60k miles a year maybe more tbh but I have a 02 escalde and I got tired of filling the tank up every 2-3 days so I got me the 1.5t because of fuel efficiency like you said I'm all highway to work and i needed a realiable car and driving an escalde wasnt fitting my needs😂🤣🤣 but tbh the 2 months I've had it I've been in love with it🤷🏾♀️ and GAS! I bought the 18 accord 1.5t for the wife and family because I wanted a affordable new sedan that was safe and saved allot of gas.. So far this car does all of that flawlessly. It has the Honda smart sense tech, car almost steers it self, has lane assist, brake assist, lane centering etc advanced Airbags which Came standard, turn it on and its super quiet makes no noise.. I have an altima 2.5s and this 1.5t is quicker more reliable and more efficient even do it has a smaller engine .. I saw the 2.0t and test drove it, yes its fasters, but over all if a fast sedan is what I was looking for well I wouldn't be buying a Honda Accord.. Bought the car Feb has 6k miles just did first oil change and let me say for those interested in a economic family car: its great, safe and will put your mind at ease when your most valuable treasures drive away.
I got the 2.0 sport because I wanted the sport wheels plus a sunroof. As a previous owner of a 16 Accord Sport (my first and last car without a sunroof) It was a MUST this car!!. If I could've got the 1.5T sport with a sunroof I wouldve got it over the 2.0 and saved that extra $4500
It is an option. I bought a 1.5 T mostly for commuting and mpg. Its the Touring model and is loaded with sunroof and every other feature available (including those beautiful 19" wheels on the 2.0T).
So the 1.5t and 2.0t Sport in Canada are the same package wise. Only difference is the engine and tranny. Otherwise thr 1.5t Sport here comes with upgraded stereo, sunroof, side camera, etc, the full package
When I bought my 1.5, I saw it had no sunroof like my previous car did. But then, I realized I didn’t really need one cause I really didn’t use the sunroof all that much when I had it. Lol

What mods do you plan on doing and when? I got a 1.5t myself for similar reasons. Planning to pay off in a couple years and look Into the latest Mustang models as my fun/lifestyle car.
Cold Air Intake. Black taillight housings. Possibly Hondata Stage 1 Tune. With this being a new generation/engine platform. Aftermarket companies are slow to put out new aftermarket parts until substantial Research and Design is completed. Cold Air Intakes for the 2.0T just started coming out last month.
The cold air intakes are mostly for sound . And some actually end up sucking warmer air into your engine . Tuner and a header is where to get any performance value . Cat back also is just for sound mostly .
For people wanting good audio and THUMP, the touring accord should be the only accord you look at. 10 speakers 450 watts. The Accord sport's speakers are straight boo boo and the sports ride quality is on the firmer side of things (pretty harsh ride). I currently work at a honda dealership and this is what I have noticed while getting in and out of these all day.
Also so is the Toyota XSE. If you want the best bang for your buck, 2018 Mazda 6 GT. 11 Speaker bose, 2.5T, all leather seats, BSM, and overall it doesn't have chrome Unibrow. Picked one up for 26k.
fake news, if you heard other manufacturer's top of the line sound system with higher trims, you can really see how WEAK honda's is. all those speakers and 500 watt still doesnt sound good. Ive heard aftermarket 6 speaker systems comprised of no name flea market brands sound better. Honda is a great vehicle but their sound system sucks no matter if you get the top of the line trim. If you think it sounds good, then your basis on sound quality sucks im sorry to say. After hearing a bunch of current touring/elite trim hondas im confident to say they are teh same across the board. i rather take the standard sound if possible and just put an aftermarket sound system.
Great video and your other's great too! I have had the 1.5T for three weeks, and came from an 06 2.4. Having tremendous trouble getting used to the 1.5T and CVT. Just feels totally different than normally aspirated engine. Also, have a rattle coming from right rear of car, and a vibration on dashboard at certain speeds. Also, my winshield wipers make a ton of noise - not sure if anyone else experienced this? The radio is a constant disappointment and is upsetting every time I get into the car Otherwise, the car is fantastic! The interior is amazing as well as all of the electronics. Averaging about 31 MPG in city driving. It's not a perfect car, but it's a great car, and good for commuting.
If gas mileage was your number one goal, why didn't you get the Honda Accord Hybrid? It gets 47 MPG city or highway. In the long run you'd have saved a ton of money.
Hybrids suck on the freeway/highway. People keep forgetting this. If he does a lot of driving on highway/freeway roads, the only way he gets the advertised 47 mpg highway is if he goes 65MPH and below and hope the road is completely flat or going downhill. Who drives 65mph and below for long distances????? and combine that with elevation changes, it actually gets worse gas mileage on the highway compared to standard 1.5T gas engine. EVERYONE does not realize this. city driving sure hybrid wins, but again if majority of driving is highway/freeway long drives, the hybrid really isnt best bet.

Great video. I have a Civic EX-L which gets about 35mpg but its too light for me on long trips so I end of taking my other vehicle. I want to trade in the civic for something heavier that doesn't get pushed around on the highway. What do you think about the Accord hybrids vs the 1.5.
I love the size/weight of the accord. It always feels planted on the road. I never feel overpowered by wind/poor road conditions. I am also 6'2, so I need a longer car.
I have a 2018 civic sport it’s absolutely great on the highway. The only problem is it begs you to go WAY over the speed limit and everyone is in your way!
Thanks for the prayers sent this way. I am in raleigh but I have family down near the coast. They are fairing well so far. I do not personally own this vehicle yet, but I plan on buying in the spring. I think I will go for the 2.0 because I plan on driving this vehicle for the next 10+ years. What are your thoughts?
Glad y'all are staying safe! From a reliability standpoint, long term this car seems great(1.5L or 2.0). Very few issues reported. It's a Honda, so you can't really go wrong. I plan keeping my car for a long time, but also getting another car too.

I would have gone with a hybrid for driving 50k miles a year. The battery packs last 10 years regardless of miles. By the time the battery pack was out the car would be pretty worn out.
I am in the wait on the hybrid - Just bought a 2022 2.0T Touring -- Great car -- I choose to skip the hybrid on a used car. I don't need to pay 10K for a battery.
Personally went for the 2.0 for two reasons. Was coming out of 2015 tlx v6 and felt the power drop off would be to big. Second, was able to get manual. Pros: tech is very good, genuinely sporty, looks great, hugh inside - - cons: road noise, little but on stiff side. Overall like but do miss the v6 and some of the premium car goodies
Spot on pros and cons. And I work at a Honda dealership. I wouldn't pay over 23k for the 1.5t and 26-27 for the 2.0t sport. As for the touring I wouldn't pay over 32k. Just my honest opinion.
I came from the 7th Gen v6 Accord to the 9th gen Sport trim (2.4L NA CVT). It wasn't as huge of a drop off as one would think. But I am looking for a 10th gen 2.0t currently, so yes I miss the pickup of the v6. But the MPG on the 9th gen is pretty dang good.
I bought the 1.5 Manuel in 2018 due to getting 4K off list . People were wanting the 2.0 manual and the dealers here were not dealing at all on the 2.0 . The 2.0 would have been 7 k more at the time .
I test drove the 2.0. Nice. But the 1.5 has all the power any reasonable person would want, no problem at all with accelerating and passing at any speed. I've averaged 35.4 mpg over 27,000 miles on my 2020 Accord.
I got the 2.0 back in March of this year of course. I traded the 2016 Ex-T. That was the plan until the new accord came out. With the 1.5 I felt the engine was a little small and under powered for the car size plus it has the CVT. I didn’t want another CVT to drive as a daily driver it wasn’t fun but ok. The 2.0 sport has the features that the civic Ex T had and more so getting an 1.5 sport I would of been bored with it. I also liked the fact 10spd is not new of course but Honda and the accord is the only front wheel drive sedan out there that has the 10 spd others are rear wheel drive so that got my attention as well. I did get the 2.0 sport platinum white for $28,000 the Camry 2018 I was going to consider with the v6 was $37,000. That’s a big price difference for my budget.
I know what you mean when you talk about the emotional aspect behind deciding what car you want to hold long term. I think it's one of the most important aspects when it comes to a big purchase in which every option in the category can check off all the needed or utilitarian purchases.
I picked the 1.5T for a daily commuter and fuel mileage. Also it’s cheaper to maintain and car insurance is cheaper than the 2.0. The goal was to find a reliable low cost to maintain car that gives me a nice quality ride. Cost to Benefit ratio. Plus I picked up my 1.5T sport for 22,500 before tax. It’s something I wanted and NOT needed. I can live without the 2.0 extra goodies. The goal is to pay it off ASAP. I choose to not to buy the 2.0 because that 4-5k can be use for my future goals. That 4-5k invested will have a greater appreciation than depreciation of the car.
@@goinoutlikegeez I love my Accord, the handling is pretty crazy for a bigger sedan. It out handles my old school 98 Acura Integra with mods. The power is not there like the 2.0, but when you do need it on the highway or straight its does pull. I took it to the mountains and it had no problem on sport mode to keep climbing. Took it out on Highway 1 in the Bay area and it took these sharp S curves like a champ, the brakes are solid.
Crossed 60k+ on my 19 Sport 1.5t Still getting between 36-39mpgs on it. I drive 60 miles a day for work. Just put new tires and feels like day one again. 0 issues.
I don't think people when they buy a car wants gas in their oil, but I did read that it was a problem. When I made my purchase of my car I did get the 1.5t, it was cheaper, and it was better for the long trips that I do. To top all that lifetime motor and tranny. So if it fucks up, it's all on Honda, so they better fix it, or give me a different car. Thanks for pointing that out though. I will be sure to have a talk with my service rep to ensure they maintain my motor because of the manufactures fuck up

A man with common sense. That is why I got the 2.0 and then my work car crapped out. I now have a 2018 Hyundai Elantra for work. I do approximately 30000 mile per year for work. I did not want to put the mikes on my 2.0. I love the 2.0 for the family and for my sons future car when he starts driving. The Touring is so comfortable with the ventilated seats.
I had a 2016 accord with a 2.4 and I just got a 1.5 sport and honestly it has great pickup speed way faster than my 2.4. I absolutely love my 2018 1.5t put a tune and a cold air and easily kept up with a 2.0t
It will be a silent recall by Honda. The next "free maintenance" oil change will take a week as they will take the 1.5T engine apart to fix the gas in oil problem (2 cycle engine now?) . A loaner car will be provided for a nominal daily fee.
Is the 1.5 Turbo Honda Accord Engine affected too?I heard a lot about almost CRV's and Civic affected by oil DILUTION.Two of my co-worker has problem already with their CRV,Been recalled and only oil changed and few programs are done.
I drove both before deciding on the 2.0. The 1.5 with CVT is not in the same league as the 2.0 with 10 speed. My 2.0 gets 37 mpg on the interstate running 75 mph. It’s well worth the $4500 difference in price.
I have the 2017 Accord LX with the 2.4L I have a K&N air filter for the engine and I will upgrade to the cold air induction kit in the Spring of 2019. I also have the K&N cabin air filter for cleaner cabin air. Husky Liner Weather Beater floor liners in the front and rear cabin floorboards and trunk-liner. I'm not gonna argue that the 2.0T engine isn't better but if budget is an issue, then there's nothing wrong with the 1.5t. I have the accord 1.5t sport and it still has great acceleration and feels more than quick enough, not to mention u get better gas mileage
My 2018 Accord sport 1.5t recently had a carbon build up issue. It has 20k miles. Regular oil changes at Honda. They had to replace the fuel injectors and do a full clean. Has anyone experienced this with the 1.5t?
Stop using low tier gas from them no name gas stations and use only top tier gas and it won't happen as fast and as bad as you got it.. it's gonna happen cuz it's a direct injection fuel system and they're notorious for carbon build up

I got the 2.0 for the price of the 1.5 brand new. Gotta know how to talk.
vid could of been shorter by stating those points without repeating them.

Long live 6 speed Accords
Just bought an 18 1.5 Touring last Friday and so far so good with 37k on it. Huge leap from my last car, a 12 6spd Nissan Versa with only 53K.
I am liking this 33mpg when I got 12mpg in the truck so it's been good so far😊👍🏽
I bought the 18 accord 1.5t for the wife and family because I wanted a affordable new sedan that was safe and saved allot of gas.. So far this car does all of that flawlessly. It has the Honda smart sense tech, car almost steers it self, has lane assist, brake assist, lane centering etc advanced
Airbags which Came standard, turn it on and its super quiet makes no noise..

So the 1.5t and 2.0t Sport in Canada are the same package wise. Only difference is the engine and tranny. Otherwise thr 1.5t Sport here comes with upgraded stereo, sunroof, side camera, etc, the full package

If efficiency was a deciding factor then why not get the hybrid?
Have you had any issues with carbon build-up?
Great video and your other's great too! I have had the 1.5T for three weeks, and came from an 06 2.4. Having tremendous trouble getting used to the 1.5T and CVT. If gas mileage was your number one goal, why didn't you get the Honda Accord Hybrid? It gets 47 MPG city or highway. In the long run you'd have saved a ton of money.
Because the hybrid doesn't have the tail pipe showing.

Pros: tech is very good, genuinely sporty, looks great, hugh inside - - cons: road noise, little but on stiff side. Overall like but do miss the v6 and some of the premium car goodies

I agree with you! Our 2018 1.5 has way more power than you would need and we love ours
Sounds like you got a great price! Congrats on the new car.

Rumor has it's only happening on the Honda CR-V 1.5t (2017-2018). My Honda Accord 1.5t hasn't shown any issues... keeping a close eye on the matter.
My honda accord hasent done ot yet
That’s on the CR-V and rarely 2018 Civics

Still any issues with your Honda bro?
Average mpg?
I had a 2016 accord with a 2.4 and I just got a 1.5 sport and honestly it has great pickup speed way faster than my 2.4. I absolutely love my 2018 1.5t put a tune and a cold air and easily kept up with a 2.0t
Which cold air intake did you put on? Not many manufactures are making them yet. DIY install?
@@garageprojects8175 takeda momentum or you can even buy on a ebay an intake adapter just hooks right up to your stock intake
Gotcha! I am waiting on K&N to release their CAI
@@garageprojects8175 yeah but I dont know why they haven't built anything for the 1.5t? But they have for the 2.0t
But what if that 2.0 gets a tune and intake?
It will be a silent recall by Honda. The next "free maintenance" oil change will take a week as they will take the 1.5T engine apart to fix the gas in oil problem (2 cycle engine now?) . A loaner car will be provided for a nominal daily fee.
Is the 1.5 Turbo Honda Accord Engine affected too?I heard a lot about almost CRV's and Civic affected by oil DILUTION.Two of my co-worker has problem already with their CRV,Been recalled and only oil changed and few programs are done.
What year?
Thx for the shout out to people in Wilmington. I live here. I'm from here and use to hurricanes. We get 1 every 4yrs. I may know your family here.
What kind of work do you do that you travel so much?
This is about cars.
Thanks for prayers. It definitely helped
I went with the 1.5 too because at the end of the day it’s a Honda.. if I wanted to race some one I would of just got a Lexus or something 🤷♂️
Damn you drive a lot
Yeah I know! haha
For purely Monetary Purposes and for being just a Commuter Car, you should gone for the Hybrid version instead.
If you drive so much why didn't you just get the hybrid?
I only use Chevron 87 Octane gasoline and get 400 miles to a half tank utilizing the Econ mode after my cruise is set. I also only use Valvoline 0W-20 High Mileage Full Synthetic motor oil with the Mobil 1 Extended Performance oil filter. I live in Atlanta, GA and commute 65 miles one way to work. I have almost 27K miles on mine too.
I'm not gonna argue that the 2.0T engine isn't better but if budget is an issue, then there's nothing wrong with the 1.5t. I have the accord 1.5t sport and it still has great acceleration and feels more than quick enough, not to mention u get better gas mileage
Exactly! My 2018 Accord Sport can't be beat for gas mileage and acceleration. Don't know what else you'd need.
I got the 2019 1.5T still night pearl but with 6 speed manual. Wanted 2.0T but hard to find these in manual.
Right I like how you tell people in the middle of a hurricane to stay safe yeah OK that's gonna fucking help
Hey buddy did you car get low fluid too after driving a while
what fluid? oil?
Break fluid
My 2018 Accord sport 1.5t recently had a carbon build up issue. It has 20k miles. Regular oil changes at Honda. They had to replace the fuel injectors and do a full clean. Has anyone experienced this with the 1.5t?
Stop using low tier gas from them no name gas stations and use only top tier gas and it won't happen as fast and as bad as you got it.. it's gonna happen cuz it's a direct injection fuel system and they're notorious for carbon build up
@@MarcoGiudice which gas stations u recommend
@@j.vosier6786 Mobil, Chevron or Shell
How has your car been running since you’ve fixed it? I’m currently at 40k miles and have a misfire in cylinder 4. Changed spark plugs and nothing. Car idles a lot and stalls. Been doing research and this is so common but doesn’t have a recall !! LMK what your experience is !
I recently got the 2022 Accord 1.5 instead of the 2.0 because of “Let’s Go Brandon!” The markup price is too damn high.
Same here I like mine I enjoy it :)
🙄🤦🏻♂️
I gap dodge 392’s on a regular. How is that for “true performance “ 😤 ..... pardon me but tuner’s have been competing against muscle cars from the beginning of time..... this generation is no different. But I do love when this huge muscle cars come down to the minor leagues and get slapped by a 4 banger.
I sold my 392 few weeks ago, thinkin about getting a 2018 accord 2.0
@@j.vosier6786 absolutely do it. Insta grams to follow: felix_joel (fastest accord on the world) will.be.Honda.grind (most Hp) and me if if you want. Xgnofearz love this platform happy to answer any of your questions. I have purple 392. Bought the accord for the wife. Now she drives it and drive the accord
