  • Even though I’m wearing a bun today (lol), I have worn my hair in a washngo since 2016. I explain why I chose the washngo as my go-to style for my natural hair.

    This is such a lovely video. I’m similar to you. I’ve only been wearing wash n gos since my last big chop. I’m a wash go girl to the core and I dig what you said about not getting bored. I know exactly what’s going on with my hair and it pretty much always looks the same. Experimenting isn’t really worth it for me right now. Thanks for the vid ❤

    I love simplicity. I crave it. I was a product junkie for YEARS because, BUT, the most sophisticated I've ever felt was when I big chopped and wore my twa.

    You are such a breath of fresh air in this natural hair space. Such a beauty inside and out. I have done it all, bug afros in the 70's , jerry curl, locs, straighten, and back to batural. Those hairstyles worked as you stated for what was going on in my life. At 68 I am looking for simplicity. Salt and pepper hair adds another dimension to this hair journey. The biggest take away I received from this video were keep it simple, be consistent, know what your hair and what it can or cannot do when it comes to styling and enjoy your hair. I have been chasing hair rainbows, spending tons of money and getting the same disappointing hair results. I love the way my hair looks when I shampoo and condition it, then it goes down hill. I struggle with styling it and keeping it hydrated. I am going to master the wash and go this summer due to your thoughts and video. I realixze it is the perfect hairstyle for me in this phase of my life. I have to practice being consistent with fewer products and be okay with having to cowash or rinse with water before shampoo day. You are an angel. Thank you.🙏

    I love this conversation. You are so good at expressing your thoughts. I can relate to everything you said, especially when it comes to the excitement of seeing my curls week after week and decision fatigue being a real thing. Great conversation.

      Omg having to decide what to do with my hair (and what products I’d need for each style) every weekend when I had several part time jobs while studying was frustrating, to say the least. Thank you for watching!😊

    Excellent points ❤ I have been natural for almost 20 years, I have tried so many routines over the years and I can say the wash and go is the perfect styling system for me ! I feel like Im not 'fighting' my hair anymore, Im fully embracing it and I love the volume that I get too 😊 ( I also have fine hair and medium density)

      Thank for sharing. I thoroughly enjoy just walking into the shower without doing anything to my hair first (on most washdays). The washngo volume is a huge plus😊

    I can say, since wearing wash and go. And co washing more than once a week. It forced me to really appreciate my hair and grow to love it. It’s still not a perfect relationship with my hair, sometimes I have my days of insecurity (I have coily tight hair)

    Thank you for posting this. I also have fine low density hair and have had the same issues you describe with twist out and braid outs. I've been natural for over 10 years and had alot of issues with the wash and go initially but I think I'm ready to try it again. You made great so many great points. Thanks again!

    I just came across your video and I just big chopped my hair and I have 4C tight hair. Don’t know what I’m doing, but thank you for the information.

    Which part do you talk about growth and length?

    • @washngoway
      @washngoway  Месяц назад +7

      Excellent question. Every part. Short styling time means I don’t spend too much time manipulating my hair, thereby giving my hair fewer opportunities to break. The same goes for the fast morning and night routines, and use of zero styling tools (I may use a tool to detangle but definitely not to style). This reduces the amount and extent of potential mechanical damage that can lead to unnecessary breakage. Embracing my shrinkage = extremely low maintenance and manipulation. Because I’m not ‘moulding’ my hair into a braid for a braid out every week, for example, I don’t have to keep braiding it every night to keep it stretched. (My hair will shrink and then I’ll have to re-braid or twist.) All of that will lead to some breakage. Little to no tension on my scalp means that my follicles aren’t suffering, reducing the chances of hair loss. Access to my scalp and hair = hydrated hair. Dehydrated hair becomes brittle and breaks off. I don’t have this problem as I can easily hydrate my naturally dry hair as I need to. Using fewer styling products = no buildup (or at least, not quickly). This means that my hair absorbs water quickly (hydration) and clumps easily (preventing/limiting tangles that may be associated with washngo sets)…. It’s the little things, but my goal was to explain that it is possible to grow tightly curled natural hair like mine in a washngo, it is easy to do so, and washngo sets are excellent at retaining length. My apologies if the tips were overly ‘hidden’. 🙏
