  • In this episode, Jess sits down with 19-year-old Joshua Bassett, star of Disney+’s “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.” In addition to his immense talent as a singer-songwriter and actor, Josh’s curiosity, humility, and energetic ability to tap into his own personal growth serve as a reminder that you’re never too young to investigate what it means to live The Good Life - a life you love on your own terms!
Jess and Josh share a candid conversation filled with spiritual coincidences, an immediate bond over their love of self-discovery books and meditation, and the necessity to take a break from social media in order to really connect to our true selves.

I’m going to honest... I only came here because of Joshua Bassett but this was so eye opening and inspiring. Many of these topics I’ve heard people talk about like, taking breaks from social media and being present in yourself and coincidence is never a “coincidence” - these are all things I’ve heard about but never really listened to. It makes me want to open up myself and put myself in more vulnerable places and learn lessons from my failures. I’m 100% watching the rest of these videos and sharing what I learned because these are all things people hear about but never sit down and actually think about and apply yourself. This was so incredible and I’m so grateful for people like Jess and Josh that see life from this perspective. Thank you so much! :)

Absolutely true, i also came for the josh content ofcourse but this is even better and i never expected to learn so much from one video. I already believed in fate and the universe etc but for someone who didn’t yet, it’s good knowing that u start to think about this too. And that they inspired you. ugh i have no words. U explained everything in that comment that i wanted to say haha

How do I give this podcast a hundred likes? Seriously. I NEVER listen to podcasts, but someone sent me this one as somewhat of a joke because I am a Joshua Bassett fan, but as soon as it started, even over the screen, I could tell that this environment was one I wanted to experience. The universe is such an incredible place and I am so grateful that both you and Joshua are bringing these positive ideas and honesty into the world, especially right now. The social media thing really hit me, because I know how damaging it was when I was in high school. The fact that this pandemic hit at the end of my high school experience was my "non-coincidental coincidence" that told me that I needed to ground myself and find my place in the world again. Breaking out of that cycle of negativity has been the most eye-opening, life-changing experience. I find myself taking risks, following signs, etc for ME, not always just looking at other people. The advice to young actors writing down learning experiences is really interesting, I definitely will take advantage of that advice. Thank you for sharing your perspective and for creating a positive, real, just FANTASTIC space. I SO look forward to listening to all of the other episodes of We're All Going To Die, Anyway and seeing where Joshua is able to spread his wisdom to the generation he represents even in little ways. Thank you both.

omg this really made me realize that josh isn't just an actor I see on tv he's a real person who has been in some really tough spots in life and I think I finally realize that he's got an entire life I don't know about and a whole world of feelings I never see and it's set him apart from other celebs for some reason, and I love him even more than ever because he was able to talk about it and even though I know he will never see this or know this but for some reason I still love him
I've also kind of looked at him as he doesn't seem like he is as old as he is but the way he talks with experience and knowledge you can tell he's been through a lot in life and the way he talks he sounds so knowledgeable and wise and inspirational I love it

I literally just fell in love with him even more. I’ve never met anyone that thinks the same way I do, and has such an alike mindset. I’m only 17 and I honestly cannot believe this. I learned so much from this, from him, and it’s so amazing that someone so young has such an opened and mature mind. Ever since I started to make this change in my life I’ve felt so great, and so mature about it and I wanted to share my perspective, my ideology about this but I learned that the only way to make people realize that, is by being the example yourself. At the end of the video, I shed a few tears because I just found it so unique and so beautiful how he is just so determined and grounded and honest to himself. Thank you so such Jess for this amazing video, you have no idea how this impacted me, and thank you Josh for opening up and sharing your knowledge. ❤️

This conversation/ topic actually reminds me of the movie yes man starring Jim Carrey. Sometimes when you’re in a negative head space you just need to say “yes” to things, even if you don’t want too or they seem too hard. It can really open up opportunities and amazing experiences and really change your life. Like they talked about sometimes we need to live in the moment and realize sometimes hinge happen for a reason, but sometimes we also need to make them happen.

I can learn so much from each of you and I hate when people say you can't have a good foundation at a young age. I know so many young people that are 16- 17, even as young as 12-13, that know what they want their life to be like. Of course, priorities change and stiff happen but that foundation will always stay the same

I trully loved hearing them talking about this eye opening conversation, it really makes you want to step back and reflect what your archeivements and failures are and what you can learn from it. The way they talked about being present and aknowledge what surronds you is one of the most important things you can do, you never know what people go through so paying attention can trully be a turning point for them, being kind is always worth it. Life is made of hills and cliffs, ups and downs, so being aware of that makes you question your choices and really put into perspective who you want to be of a person and what impact you want to make. As they said you have to focus on yourself first in order to help others. Absolutely loved this podcast ! Thank you for all those valuable lessons that I think not enough people really put their mind into.
