@@KasiaSopniewskaI have been on a hunt for Leather blazer like in the "No Show" episode and "hit is a hit" red coat for half a year now. The suit he wears on his being made ceremony is also nice, but I don't have anywhere to wear it without looking comically overdressed
Silvio is absolutely the best dressed gangster in The Sopranos. So many colors, patterns, excellent suits. Everytime he wears something new he's a joy to behold, as a fan of suits and gangster looks.
@@aunch3 I suppose that's just personal preference. JS is also a strong contender, he dresses sharp and looks very cool, I'm more into peacock looks, the more colorful and vibrant the better.
This is not only a refreshing video to watch regarding the sopranos, but worth looking into. Read somewhere the script was so detailed for each character's outfit choices.
Furio wearing clothing inspired by the goddess Medusa makes sense when you consider his muse, Carmela. In mythology, staring at Medusa kills you by turning you to stone. And in the show, his life is put in danger simply by expressing his desire towards her.
Omg I love you for this. What an icon to post a mens version! You're so right, The Soprano's mens fashion isn't talked about enough. Fashion design is so fascinating with character development
Tony's fashion sense was very sleak, but also impressive to me with how they wardrobed him to look intimidating despite the knowledge that he was gaining weight every season, you know, he didn't look like Vito or something. Christopher's had some noticebale 90s italian fashion fits but to me and i'm surprised you didn't mentioned him (maybe because he was killed off early and isn't memorable) Ralph's had some of the best looks with his winter esq fits. His fits were obviously expensive probably go with how he is as a character. He just looked cool though.
You should do a video on Boardwalk Empire. The show did a fantastic job of using clothes and color to show characters’ positions and emotions throughout the show. (Such as Jimmy wearing blue when feeling powerful and brown when feeling vulnerable, Nucky’s suit rotation getting smaller and darker as he gets deeper into crime & Gyp’s clothes projecting his insecurities). Plus it’s a really great show and the clothes look AMAZING.
Love literally everything you post ❤ my dad had the most trash fashion growing up and was a big boss at microsoft. Like he wore shorts and flip flops with baggy short sleeve button downs everyday even though we lived in Seattle… he knew his fashion was trash and it was his statement to the world in a punk rock way. I totally see Tony’s wardrobe as his own power play demonstrating that fads and cultural values can not influence him, he’s fully in control. My dad only changed his fashion when he got a job in Amsterdam and was relentlessly bullied by fashionable Europeans lol
Hahaha, yes, we Europeans sometimes care way too much about looking stylish. But I love your story and totally get the analogy. Tony is so powerful, respected, and feared that he can literally show up in his white bathrobe, and still, everyone will listen to his commands.
Chrissy’s fits are definitely my favourite. Especially the ones with tight collar shirts and the suit jackets going with them. I really like the special occasion type clothing for some reason.
Can we get a ‘Lamps & Interior Design of the Sopranos’ video?….. Ever since the first season with Livia’s infamous “you want that lamp?” line, I pay hyperattention to the lighting fixtures & lamps in this show-lemme tell ya, some fantastic pieces 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Tony's shirt at 2:50, I noticed it a week or two and have desperately been trying to find something similar if anyone knows. What a beautiful two tone.
This video is perfectly timed. I went to the mall last week. and the sopranos fashion style is unironically in style today. its like THE look this year, every mainstream store had those type of shirts. starting from the older ganster's late 60s/early 70s revival-ish shirts that they wear, to chris' Y2k shirts from the early seasons. you dont believe me? go to your local mall and im all for it! I even made it my goal this year to slim down so that those silk-ish shirts look better on me. Ive always loved that gangster aestetic that are shared in both sopranos and goodfellas. and this year I can finally dress like that without looking like im going to a themed party.
i’ve been thinking the same thing since i first went through the show. thank you for making this vid / exploring it because i don’t know anything about fashion but definitely thought “man is it just me or is there way too many good fits in this show” a million times
Great video!! I would actually vote for Johnny Sack as the best dressed guy, but for the casual look I like Christopher’s track jackets, especially the fila ones
Ralph and Johnny Sack had some great suits. I don’t think we ever saw Johnny wear the same pocket square twice, and in true gentlemens fashion never an exact match to the tie. Nice roomy tailored trousers with a clean break over the shoe
My senior year of high school, I found myself particularly inspired by Mikey Palmice, aka Mr. GQ. So I asked for a gold chain with a St. Michael pendant along with a gold watch for my birthday. I also stocked up on mock turtlenecks to wear with a leather jacket and blazer. It was probably my peak fashion.
Hi, Kasia! After watching Sex and the City, I fell down a rabbit hole watching all your videos. I love your narrations, fashion analysis, taste in shows, styling, everything! Thank you for this video. I always paid attention to the guys' style. I think that this wonderful series can be analyzed from many aspects, and this is another reason to come back to it :) Dzięki Kasia
this show has made a comeback I remember watching it years ago but when a kid my parents would bind each week and wait for the new episode I would get in trouble for watching around the corner in the living room haha.
@swenglishdude1527 @br3akstuff hi, I do have a video about Carmela and Adriana's style. It's called The Sopranos' Iconic Fashion: Beyond the Mob Wife Aesthetic xx
I always found the uniformity of the mobsters' way of dressing interesting. First you have the classic men's wear partitions: polo shirts for semi-casual stuff, different tailored suits for grand occasions or "representation" functions (and work), combined with some Italian details like the leather loafers. Conventional "must have" accessories like gold chain, gold bracelet, gold watch, gold pinky ring. But what always fascinated me most is the tracksuits. It's so uniform. It's like everyone instinctively knows when to wear them, and how. They HAVE to be half open, they HAVE to be combined with a regular wife-beater underneath, and you ALWAYS have to wear the jewellry you always wear otherwise too.
One thing I realized about Meadow and Tony: Meadow always takes the time to dress up in some way, like Tony. Tony definitely dresses to project status and maintain his own sense of “decorum” (the only time he visited Melfi dressed casually was when he was depressed and almost got shot).
I was just thinking about this with Jimmy Altieri, he has on this really sleek looking track suit when he visits Tony wired up and has a more toned down one when he didn’t have time to change before getting whacked
How can we possibly forget Ralphie Ciferetto?! I thought he was always the snappiest dresser when he stepped out the door! And those rich dark green wide wale corduroys - mama!
if you'd like to look at any other shows for their wardrobe i'd suggest Justified! the people who handle wardrobe for the show do a wonderful job. in the third season for the main villain they gave him different pocket squares for as many suits as they could, various colors and ways of tucking them in. but everyone's well dressed in ways that make sense for their character.
One of my favorite pieces of clothing is AJs demin and leather Dolce & Gabbana jacket that he wears to a nightclub. Mostly because my cousin was friends with Robert Iler and was able to get that specific jacket from the set and give it to me.
Very surprised you didn’t bring up Carmela. Undeniably a style icon, the first outfit that comes to mind is when she visits Livia in season 1 after she almost burns down her kitchen.
I think we were robbed of an episode where Furio brings his blood stained silk shirts to the dry cleaners
The show failed to inspect the thorny legal nuances of dry cleaner-client privilege.
The video opens with the very first scene I consumed of the Sopranos

Tony Soprano was the biggest fashion influence on my father in the early 2000s. He started wearing all the same shirts haha

Ralph Cifaretto was a great dynamic of ruthlessness yet flamboyance. His eccentric yet unpredictable personality was mirrored in his fashion for sure.
