Wanted Dead (Japanese Hard) Former WR NG+ Speedrun (

- Killer run on 3 of 5 levels in Wanted: Dead on Japanese Hard difficulty for Steam/PC with a fairly large choke after what I consider the toughest parts of the game. Sum of Best went from 1:53 yesterday to 1:40 today and shed over 13 minutes from the former WR earlier in the week so still plenty of room for improvement. Looking to finally have a perfectly clean run in the next week and put up a solid New Game WR as well which is an even more challenging (but fun) run. Will be playing a bunch of Wo Long Fallen Dynasty this weekend and probably mix in a run or two with Wanted.

Super cool vid! I love how this game has some kind of cult following. I'm going through my first japanese hard run and i'm having so much fun. Is there an infinite number of ng+ or do you dupe your saves ?
Thanks!! When you beat the game it wrapped back around to the beginning I think around launch. I’m not sure if they added level select so it was difficult to practice individual levels/segments unless you manually copied your saves. I was looking to go back to this for NG Japanese Hard speedrun after they had a huge patch and rework recently. This game was extremely underrated by critics, glad you gave it a chance and are enjoying it too!!
2 qs: What does taking out the pink/purple guys first achieve?
Also, regarding the achievement/trophy for doing all finishing strikes; (I know its bugged atm). But if it wasn't bugged are there a certain amount of different finishers on each enemy? How do they work?

1. The pink/purple guys actually call in “reinforcements” so the encounters can go much longer, in particular right before the spider tanks I had 3 waves of ninjas drop in before killing the one at the top of the stairs.
2. I actually have no idea on finishing strikes but I know there are definitely a few wall ones that are pretty rare so I would try to get some finishers near them (they also look awesome!)
@@FBIMichaelScarn the purple guards bring in more reinforcements? 😱 thnx for the tip i already played through the story 3 times & had no clue those enemies called for more back up.
@@unchartedrocks1 Lol I think it took me the 4th playthrough as well before realizing it. Went from thinking "wow these random amount of enemies showing up is awful" to "this is an great addition for speedruns and general encounter design"
whats your rifle mods? sometimes i see you just shooting at shield enemies and they loose their shield pretty quickly, but i can't seem to replicate that
The base rifle I use for NG+ is the gunsmith rifle you can get after beating her high scores on the shooting range. 1 bullet from that takes shields off the riot guys who are arguably the most annoying enemies. I’ve actually routed it in for a New Game run since it’s so solid and then don’t have to micro manage the mods as they come in

Awesome, congrats! It was quite a step up for from me especially since we still have to do it fresh file. Some of those cobra commander ninjas after long sections were super tense! Loved the boss fights with a bit more health though on JH

Thank you! They finally patched it this week so I'd like to see what changed and if it's actually more stable. Definitely a fun (and underrated) game. Easy recommendation now that it's $20 too
@@FBIMichaelScarn I'm Russian, when I played this game, I was wildly delighted, this state of flow that this game gives is incomparable to anything, it's a shame that the game was not received on its merits

@@GameBoy-tv8ig Yeah the mix of melee/shooting and the John Wick style executions felt so good and unique. I hope the development team gets another shot with a bigger budget.

What is the rule set for these runs? Thanks.
For NG+ you can use the gunsmith rifle and all unlocks from a regular playthrough. There are also New Game categories which are essentially fresh file runs and I will be doing one on JH in the next couple weeks as well. No real skips so nothing is banned yet that I know of. Thanks! I’m surprised how quick this run is glitchless since it was a solid 8+ hours first play on hard for me with cutscenes/deaths. Devs did a great job making the learning curve really satisfying!
35:40how wasting time for nothing the developers seem to have put this on purpose to avoid Speedrun 😂😂😂
Haha yeah it’s so weird since the game is excellent about the other cutscenes and mini games being skippable better than most games outside of karaoke. They even have a separate cutscene viewer on the menu which is a great touch for people who want to see certain ones again. I guess I have no choice but to get 90%+ accuracy to make it worthwhile now lol
I really love this game but it has the weirdest difficulty spikes
Yeah it definitely could have used another tuning pass but overall it’s pretty great on the highest level outside of the GI Joe Snake Eyes enemies and a few overlong checkpoints. This is definitely most underrated game this year for me by a mile with how fun it can be
Really? Nothing changes on the harder difficulties, just enemies having more health and damage. Why does a game from 2005 like Ninja Gay-den which is "apparently" by the same developers have better gameplay and content than this one does now in 2023
They dont have more health, but do way more damage. Enemy ai gets way more aggressive on hard too, especially in groups. For an example if this you can see the fight at 13:00, in normal mode he would have just picked up the chainsaw and cut through all the knife guys easily, but with how they try to swarm and attack you all at once mixed with how slow the chainsaw is it is no longer a good strategy even though the chainsaw is a guaranteed one hit kill, so this guy saved the chainsaw to use later. It really is a different experience and you have to utilize all the mechanics to get through where in normal mode you can get by if you just parry correctly most of the time.
Also I played ninja gaiden right after playing this and theres major similarities. They dont play a lot alike, but you get similar feelings from them. Ninja Gaiden is way more about all the combos and knowing when to use them, like Tekken, but this is more like virtua fighter where you dont have a huge toolkit but each individual move has way more ultility
@@dudestep That’s still incredibly lazy. This game is not even in the same realm as Ninja Gay-den, the complicated “mechanics” you mean doing the same pistol and sword combo over and over again? The chainsaw sucks even on normal mode.
@@cartoonvideos5 obviously I dont mean that. I'm talking about a lot of other stuff. I could go on and on about this game but I'll restrain myself and just say this game has interesting strategies. It doesnt have breadth but it's got depth.
