I also had CAC that shot up 965 to 1654 in my first year keto. My cardiologist isn't too worried, says I've got chromium pipes: no soft plaque left because it's now solid, and therefore unlikely to rupture or cause a stroke like soft plaques can. In four years low carb high fat, my symptoms have completely changed. No more discomfort with exercise, nasty arrhythmia gone, no more shortness of breath, but increased endurance, muscle mass, and my plant based testosterone was low 200, carnivore testosterone is 883. HDL 89 trigs 51. I'm 73.

I had a bad calcium score on a CT scan so they ran the dye through me and did another one. They told me that I had a 60% blockage in one artery and 40% in another. A week later I had a heart cath done where they went in through my groin and ran a camera all the way up . The doctor came in shaking his head and said that he wasn’t sure what they had seen on the scans, but the inside of my arteries looked good. Go figure. Have you ever heard of this before?

When you say ancestors ate only “seasonal” food, you’re thinking with from the Northern mentally. The tropics have plant food available 365 d/year, and most of them still gravitate to meats.
That isn’t actually true. That is our fantasy of a garden of Eden. Go and listen to Mary Ruddick, who has gone to all the blue zone areas and lived for fairly long periods of time. She talks about living with Hunter gatherers in the hot climates, and she said she actually never saw any fruits. The fruits, even in the hot climate are seasonal, and mostly the animals get them way before humans managed to. I know you weren’t speaking specifically about fruits, but the other types of plants they tend to look for the starchy tubers, and again they are not always available. And fruits and tubers, even if gathered, make up a tiny fraction of the diet. I was listening to a national geographic interviewing hunter gatherers, and they asked when they ate plant foods and the answer was quite lovely, “when there is no real food available”, by which they, of course, meant animal foods.
For such a long interview, there was very little detailed information presented. The gentleman who wrote the book cannot lucid date details that are pertinent to everybody and tests, etc. talk around the subject.
Christmas Eve my 72 yr old husband had a heart attack. The cardiologist told me he had 100% blockage of his "widow maker". Of course, SOP, prescribe a bunch of meds including a statin. My husband is lean, has always eaten the S.A.D. and cuts off every bit of fat from his meat as he can. I have started him on Keto. Not sure how long he will agree to it, but I am doing my best. The thing is, he still believes what he has been told all his life, "fat and red meat bad, fruits, whole grains, and vegetables good".
Week before Thanksgiving 2020, i had heart attack also in LAD (left anterior descending artery). I have heart issues in both sides of family. Anyway, they stented me without request. But thats what you do when you arrive via ambulance. Anyway, i do not take any of their recommended pharmacia. Told my grown sons, i am NOT taking medication. My food will be my medicine. And i plan on natural causes being my reason fof graduating to Heaven.
Even when you read the studies and try out carnivore / radically natural diet it’s very very challenging to permit yourself to eat fat. All those moralistic judgements about dietary fat keep haunting us.
So, if the 'cure' for metabolic diseases is keto, carnivore or ketovore eating - perhaps with time restricted eating - why all the need for extensive testing when people can just jump right in and change their diets and lifestyle? Do you do the testing to verify that carbohydrates are the bad guys? Is there some other medical intervention to do other than lifestyle change? What will a person do differently after extensive tests to help alleviate metabolic syndromes that they can't do prior to testing that eating a proper human diet won't help?
Because people might have damaged their arteries too much before the diet is able to heal them. So you have to have the imaging tests to check where you at. And even if you fix your diet, you can be experiencing a lot of stress that's still causing inflammation. The diet interventions can help when dealing with the population as a whole, but each person is unique and needs to be studied individually and maybe they need stents and bypass surgery before the diet helps them
Of course you don’t have to test. You can assume having lived in the western world and most likely eaten the SAD diet that there are things to fix. Just eat the human diet. Some people however like to know where they are and track where they are going that’s ok too
Yes this Jack Guy shouldn't even be in the conversation. His comments were like speed bumps. Let the People with knowledge speak without being interrupted please.

I’d be interested to know the study he is citing putting a positive spin on calcification of soft plaque to stabilise it. The reason is it was revealed that statins induce calcification, so the PR machine decided that calcification stabilises dangerous soft plaque, making statins calcification side effect good. So I do wonder if the cited papers were produced to back up this likely erroneous argument.
Thank you for this super conversation. I converted from veganism which destroyed my blood work in about 4 years to keto when I watched Dr Berry on youtube about 3 yrs ago.. You, Dr Ovadia have also inspired me to remain faithful to this extreme change in my diet. Everything that should've gone up, went up and what needed to go down, went down without pharmaceuticals.
If carnivore diets are so great, why do Eskimos have heart disease historically, while cultures that eat whole food plant based diets DO NOT ??? No doubt processed foods, sugar, and oil are bad, but meat and fats are not the answer. Show me a culture with a high fat meat and dairy etc based diet that has almost no heart disease. Numerous plant based cultures have virtually no heart disease. While eliminating certain foods is better, it is not the best diet which is whole food plant based with no sugar or oil.
I've been a foody for 60 years, keto and zero grain for 15 yrs. I have owned a library of cookbooks and still adding to it. When asked, my favorite remains Dr. William Davis' "Wheat Belly- 30 minutes or less". FULL of top notch recipes and basics of cooking them. Just today I cracked open a book I bought months ago and thumbed thru it for the first time (Unholy Trinity), and was delighted to find Dr. William Davis in there with his SIBO recipes. I've been making many variations of these for quite a while now. I'm extra excited now to break open Unholy Trinity tonight!
Daniel, your book sounds amazing. I plan to buy it. Some friendly advice. Stop pushing your book in podcast. That’s not the way it’s done. It comes across as obnoxious. Mention the book once at the beginning. Share as much information as you can during the podcast and then the host will remind everyone to buy your book at the end. And people will buy it. That’s the way this works. Your book sounds fantastic. All your information is good. Your story is great. Best wishes to you.
Interesting, but a bit heavy on the info-mercial for my taste. Plug the book once or twice, absolutely. But bringing it up every other minute, and over and over and over name-dropping all the people endorsing it...bit of a turn-off for me.
They need to investigate the damage that eating sweet foods (that aren't sugars or carbohydrates) does to their bodies. They've been told for so long that sugar substitutes are better/safe alternatives to sugar that their harms have never been considered
I switched off watching when you brought up evolution 😢 How sad, you may be informed about what we should be eating for good health, but totally clueless as to what a human actually is. We are more than flesh and blood Believe the only gospel that saves today which is 1 Cor 15 -1-4 KJV

I was on keto for 3 months, then switch to carnivore for another 3 months. My blood pressure is 180/100! 😢 after eating eggs, bacon and beef
I’ve been eating carnivore for 8 years I generally eat at least 36 eggs a week. Blood pressure better than ever.
philip ovadia cardiologist😊
Doctors try to prevent dieses is like auto mechanics try to prevent auto failure go against business.
Love the mention of the WHO and their scandalous recommendations.
So can you reverse heart disease? I didn’t hear the answer
Doctor Ovadia has the look - "Fam, get to the point!"
Glad it was helpfu!

We’ll the host tried but this guy didn’t get it. He would have sold more books if he just told his story.
It might bug you, certainly doesn’t bug me. Promote away.
Interesting, but a bit heavy on the info-mercial for my taste. Plug the book once or twice, absolutely. But bringing it up every other minute, and over and over and over name-dropping all the people endorsing it...bit of a turn-off for me.
Millions of years. LOL Not hardly
You’re being boring now? How rude I was listening.
Me, too! I found the rudeness off-putting, but I was engaged in listening to the alleged "boring" part.
More people need to start interrogating why SO MANY "health foods" taste SO SWEET.
They need to investigate the damage that eating sweet foods (that aren't sugars or carbohydrates) does to their bodies. They've been told for so long that sugar substitutes are better/safe alternatives to sugar that their harms have never been considered
The line of eating 2.6 million years went down a wrong turn. You were not there. Lets be truthful. That was not giving you credence.
Such sad quackery. This doc belongs in malpractice court.
Apparently his advice is very helpful to many sick and suffering folks. He is not an advocate for Pharma first .
I switched off watching when you brought up evolution 😢
How sad, you may be informed about what we should be eating for good health, but totally clueless as to what a human actually is.
We are more than flesh and blood
