  • Mowing some thick grass in a field with my John Deere 997. I was very impressed with the cut quality considering the fact that I was mowing fast. Thanks for watching!

One thing I really like about this mower is that the deck and engine are so quiet that you can hear the blades cutting the grass. The machine is at full throttle in the video.

Thats just like my yard except for the grass and lack of junk.

Yeah that and I’m using a functional machine with working gauges. 😂

@@LukesJohnDeereGarage like my x585, 400, 430 and 445? Functional with working gauges.....three loaders, backhoe, hydraulic dump MCS, hydraulic tiller, its tough to keep everything in tip top shape.

That 40 loader is better than tiptop shape to me.

I noticed that you don't mow a frame around the section to mow first, is that your normal method or just for the camera? I usually mow a two strip frame around the area I'm mowing and then mow inside the frame.

If I'm mowing on a tractor I'll usually outline the mowing area first. On a ZT sometimes I'll do two strips at the ends of the rows, but it's not really necessary, since no grass is left when you turn around at the end. I mostly took this video for fun (it's at a small park near our house) and I obviously wasn't focusing on cut quality. Before I started the video I was actually alternating sides of the row, so I started the area by going straight down the center, and then I would alternate widening the strip on each side. That way I can direct the discharge into the mowed area instead of onto the strip I had to mow next. With thick grass I don't want to mow it all twice. 😄
