Yesterday I happened to be watching the modern cartoon Jellystone, and it was a nice surprise to see the King and his gang making an appearance. The lovely cheerleaders were absent, though.
I have no idea. The only explanation is it was many years since this cartoon first aired that some things change so the creators of the new show have to modernize the characters along with their personalities. Those who grew up with the original show would be older by now. The new show Jellystone is made to appeal to younger audiences.
This show is quite amazing and I gotta say King and gang must be the sons of other Hanna-Barbera Stars King son of Lippy The Lion Big H son of Peter Potamus Clyde son of Magilla Gorilla Yuka Yuka son of Hardy Har Har Skids son of Wally Gator
@wayneschlaegal I remember Big H falling on top of the King, and the King saying something like "Big H, if you broke my comb, I am going to hurt you.".
I didn't realize it, but when shows I do recall like Monster Squad, MacDuff the Talking Dog & Big John, Little John all aired on the same channel with Land of the Lost, NBC, it was clearly an attempt to do away with cartoons for good, but as none of these shows, other than land of the Lost, were perceived as hits, the return to the tried and true took over and so this stuff returned. I watched none of these shows. The King, the ghosts, undercover elephant, CB Bears, those cowboys.
From what I am seeing & can recall, this was kind of "nothing else is working, so let's rehash the old stuff" ideaology going on here, of course, none of it worked.
Your comment is actually super ironic, considering the fact that the segments that aired on this show actually originated from another Hanna Barbera show, CB Bears. When that show got retooled from being a hour-long program to a half-hour, they repurposed these segments for this show.
unfortunately it is very hard to locate original title sequences after the shows are altered into another format....that's why so many dvd sets have the wrong tiles (or none at all) because the people putting them together don't have a clue about what they should be using.
Back in those days people were still concerned about children going braindead from watching cartoons, so they would try to bore children to sleep before the show started.
Anybody else notice a resemblance(?) between "The King" and Fonzie from Happy Days?
It’s supposed to be a spoof.

Loved this show as a kid
Let's be real: many of us never heard of these guys before Jellystone.
truee!!!
These guys deserve to be major characters and give them speaking roles in Jellystone Season 3 and 4.
I wonder why they were evil in jellystone the new show

Heyy, it's the KING starring the KING!
This show is quite amazing and I gotta say King and gang must be the sons of other Hanna-Barbera Stars
King son of Lippy The Lion
Big H son of Peter Potamus
Clyde son of Magilla Gorilla
Yuka Yuka son of Hardy Har Har
Skids son of Wally Gator
That would work!🌞
Who else is here after seeing them again in HBO Max’s Jellystone?
20 years too late with that comment.
I used to think the King and his pals looked like the animal soccer team in Disney's 'Bedknobs & Broomsticks'.
I wanna know what was going on in that garage! Looks like the "King" was getting his end away!
If anyone has a clip of the King saying "don't mess with the King's mane" please put it up! My brother and I still mimic that sometimes

Even the announcer seemed bored by this awful show!
You can taste the desperation in his voice
