  • This 30-minutes doc is about social and political history of Faroe Islands from 50-s till 2000-s.
    I was happy to work with a person behind this film, Petr Silaev, the author and producer, - he is known for "Exodus", a book of contemporary Russian classic literature I would say. It was nominated for numerous prizes, translated into English, German, Finnish, Swedish, Italian, Greek, Spanish etc...
    Krisitain Blak is a main storyteller in the first lyric part. First he is very kind and friendly person, and after that he is very prolific talented Nordic composer. His (and traditional local folk) music was used as a soundtrack here in the first part. Wiki page here.
    The second part of the doc has more fun featuring 200 (Tveyhundrað), Faroese punk band (frontman Niels Arge Galán, drummer Uni Arting and the bass Mikael Blak).

    I don't get why the band members are so against Denmark.

    • @lo-wokliya1267
      @lo-wokliya1267  6 лет назад

      Fiskeben the answer is in the film, they were severly fucked up by the danish banks, plus they feel themselves independent, and wanna rule at their on

    • @svaffe
      @svaffe 6 лет назад +2

      Maybe, but they wouldn't have survived throught the years without Denmark, sooo

      Move on? They have been a settlement for around 1100 years. And its still a settlement, decended from scots and scandinavians.

      @Lyslapskaus You are talking bullshit, the Faroese have never had any travel restrictions ever, they have also had home rule since 1948, and so they can decide for themselves whoever they want to trade with. Joining Russia is one of the most idiotic idea I've ever heard, what on earth would they gain? the Russians would just build a huge Naval/Air base and expel anyone who got in their way.

    • @Aoderic
      @Aoderic 6 лет назад

      Oh the Bounds of stupidity in that comment!, I almost don't know where to begin, but I'll try.
      1. Even if it was true, that there is only one flight a year to London, it would not be a travel restriction. Banning people from leaving the country, is a travel restriction.
      2. There are daily flights to Edinburgh, from where you can get a connecting flight to London.
      3. It is solely the operating Airlines that decide where to fly, and Atlantsflog is part owned by the government.
      4. Any travel regulations is made by the Faroese ministry of Transport, infrastructure and Labour.
      5. what have left or right to do with anything? anyway the Faroese Løgting is split right down the middle with 16 to left and 16 to right, and 1 independent member in the middle.
      6. The Faroe Islands have a TRADING relation with Russia, it is not close in any other way!, it have also only been like this since 2014, and is very likely to change in the future.
      7. None of this have anything to do with Denmark, so completely beside the point of the thread.

    Very good documentary. But some of the cultural facts are outdated. Abortion laws have been changed and liberalized. It is almost abortion on demand now. The LesbiGay community have a huge gay pride parade through town every year - the day before the National Day celebration. More than 50% in the the parade are not even gay. Kids are running around waiving gay flags, without knowing what they are for. But it is fun and they are happy. There are no gay clubs in this country of 55,000 people (as of now). But every club is gay-friendly.

    so why is this guy talking about national feeling speaking norwegian...

    • @AdventureThroughLife
      @AdventureThroughLife 7 лет назад +12

      He's not speaking Norwegian. He's speaking Danish, which is every Faroese person's second language, but he is speaking in the Faroese dialect (Gøde Dansk) which sounds a lot like Norwegian.

    • @halfman8466
      @halfman8466 7 лет назад

      He probably spoke Danish because he isn't very good at English, and getting someone to translate if he spoke Faroese is a bit harder than if he spoke Danish
