These are freaking awesome. I love the Mossy. My grandfather, Donald Rose flew them as a pathfinder during the war. Every time I see video of this beauty makes me a little reminiscent of all the stories he told me as a kid. Gone for nearly 30 years now...but I can still hear his voice ans see his smile as he talked about his beloved Mossy. :)
Thank goodness your brave grandad came home or I probably wouldn't have had the pleasure of reading your beautiful memories of him.
Pure Beauty in motion, the sound of the Merlins singing,, it is so strange to think that this beauty was born out of horror. but we now have the chance to see them in their natural environment "Flying free" A big Thank You to everyone who made this video possible. Live Long and Prosper.
Unbelievable! I love the way it was filmed from take off before getting up into the air, it creates an atmosphere of actually being in the cockpit as well. The courage those pilots in WW2 must have had to fly those missions , is beyond any understanding.
Love this video. My uncle was in the RAF during WW2 as a navigator on the Mosquito. Amazing to see the same view he had.
1. Wow. What a bevvy of beautiful planes. What a thrill to be amongst them.
2. The Lancaster is so graceful - and SO vulnerable to being shot out the sky. You can understand why the Spitfire pilots were referred to as "the few", whilst the losses for the bomber boys were that much higher than the Somme that they were known as "the many".
3. It makes you grateful that the lads in places like Canada, NZ, Australia, and many other places, actually came over as volunteers from the start. Easy to not fully appreciate that debt we owe those brave lads.
Absolutely
When I was a young boy in the 1950s my American Air Force father (who'd flown B-24s & B-29s in his first of three wars) was stationed on the Island of Bermuda (and, yes, thanks to having to go to British schools while there I'm a Cricket player from way back). The RAF were always flying patrol & training missions to & from Bermuda. I watched many a Lancaster fly in and out. My father went on flights with them several times. He said they were a grand aircraft. Sad there are only a couple left that still fly.
@@joestephan1111 Maybe three flyable Lancasters soon. The one at East Kirkby should be airborne eventually, and is undergoing a complete renovation.
@@RWBHere When I was a young lad my US Air Force father was stationed on the island of Bermuda. The RAF would come there to train. We lived in a house on the airbase which overlooked the main runway--perfect for a plane crazy kid like me. Saw a number of Lancasters come and go (not to mention an early look at Canberras). Because my father was an Air Weather Officer he interacted with all of the pilots when they came in for a briefing. He got to go for a ride in a Lancaster which he said was a good, stout plane. Though he had trained in and flew as a B-24 & B-29 pilot during the war, he during that time once rode as copilot in a B-17 being moved to another airbase. He said after the Lancaster ride he could now see first-hand it, with the B-17, were a 1-2 punch. Please keep us informed of the progress there.
Sorry did you just say, bomber boys losses higher than the Somme? You can’t be referring to the battle of the Somme in WW1 ?!
Losses from bomber command 57,000 roughy killed.. of a total 125,000 aircrew overall. But 57k “bomber boys” specifically
Losses from the battle of the Somme total 420,000
There were over 57,000 killed on the first DAY of the Somme.
Anyway I absolutely respect the bomber boys and all aircrew etc but your statements are just factually way out.
As a serving RAF Engineer this is what dreams are made of!!
Still serving my friend? Awesome if you are and thank you for all your service either way.
@@NorthCamZ Not anymore. I left after 12 years but it's stood me in great stead moving forwards
@@robertlindsay6671 Wow man, that's a long time. Really appreciate your service.
Very nice! I´ve been in the Canadian Lancster this August - it´s not only one of two in airworthy condition but the only one you can fly with.
It wasn´t cheap but worth every Cent to be in the middle of four Merlins for an hour passing the Niagara Falls.
And I did to honour the crew of Lancaster LM643 / 619 Sqn PG-E crashed near St. Nazaire 25.July 1944 - I placed all from the crewmembers I could fnd the families to their position during flight - and the VR-A pilots signed them for the families.
Before I forget - I´m German... ;-)
No shame ! Your fathers fought the Bolsheviks! They truly left it all on the field! May history sort the truth (eventually?)
This video is superb, both for the camerawork and the flying. It's also an immense credit to the legions of restorers, financiers, maintenance staff and families who have lived with the effort to keep thse wonderful aircraft flying.......and a poignant reminder of what we owe the many thousands of young men who died in these war machines, to allow us the lives we live today.
This video is a fine tribute to them.....well done 'Warbirdresto'.
If you look closely after 7 minutes there is a B-25 Mitchell flying with them. Superb video! Thank you very much!
Fantastic video, thank you, Canada from a Brit.
This must be such a cool moment, not only flying one of these but seeing the others around you as well!
Superb stuff. What a blessed relief to see propellers shot with a decent camera sensor, so they look like the real thing and not big black paddles flapping about crazily.
ABSOLUTELY ! how bloody annoying that is.
Thank you so much for posting this . My grandad was a rear gunner in a lanc during the war & seeing these flying never fails to make me emotional . Thank you 🌹
Just want to say a massive thank you for uploading this footage. I think this must have been one of the best things to do with a camera. I love all the aircraft in this video and to see them all flying in formation is a real pleasure. Please keep these coming. Fantastic stuff.
Wow, now that is something you don't see everyday! Brilliant video.
Anyone else get goose bumps hearing those engines? Imagine what was going through the minds of the pilots and crew back in the war when starting up those engines
There is your heritage and freedom right there. Thank you Canada from England
I was at this airshow and the display was freakin' awesome! Many people had tears in their eyes and grins a mile wide.
there's something that's just inspiring about these war birds
Mind-blowing footage, nice tight formation flying...very impressive. thanks for posting
The best video on youtube.
agree
Yes, I too.

Glad I found this one, great to see the CWH collection in full flight - what a fantastic sight and sound. Thanks from Stephen in London (England not Ontario).
My uncle was a 19 year old mossie jockey. He used to fly the post bombing raid recce flights over Germany. Unarmed and knee trembling height above the ground. He would have loved to see this spectacle.
Wow! What a great, great video ! Thank you very much from a French RAF fan. Beautiful, evocative and moving. Hats off!
My four favourite aircraft of WW2. The Mossie holds a special affection for as my Uncle was killed in one during a night navigation exercise in January 1946.
Never seen a Lancaster in flight from so close at that angle. Truly looks like a beast! 😊
Just an amazing film, it was just brilliant flying along with those beautiful old aircraft.
I had never seen the Canadian Lancaster flying, she is a beauty. and what an achievement to have a mosquito flying, THANK YOU FOR SHOWING
This was the "choir pf the merlins". I was there and it was magical. Ranks up there with Vera (Candadian Lanc) flybye with the CF18 Hornet.
I was lucky enough to see the Canadian Lancaster when it visited Britain a couple of years ago. It was with the Lancaster from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and both flew past my home at about half a mile distance, turned south, then turned south west, and headed off toward the Derwent dam, which is around 30 miles from here and where they practiced for the Dam Busters raid because of its similarity to one of the German dams. An incredible and beautiful sight, and the sound of eight Merlins is something I'll never forget.
The absolute ultimate quartet in aviation. Such a super project to get this Mossie back in the air. Lets hope we have one flying in the UK as soon as possible - our last two are very sorely missed....!!! Great vid' - many thanks...!
Whaou !!!...rassembler trois Avro Lancaster, Hurricane, Spitfere, et filmer le vol en formation du cockpit d'un Avro Lancaster est tout bonnement MAGNIFIQUE !!!!👍👍🤩🤩
All four legends together - in the air. I salute you. Awesome.
Such grace, such beauty, such power and such men that flew them in combat. And, such wonderful people that help to keep these machines flying. You can keep your engine runs of the Vulcan; this is what people want to see and hear.
OMG...I dont use that silly pneumonic often, but this is...glorious!!
I hope you recovered from the pneumonia. Oh, hang on ... Did you mean mnemonic? :-)
that was the most majectic flight i have ever seen , wow . and the veiwpoint was extra ordinary , thanks for posting .
i've been to the Hamilton museum . then an employee walked up to me and asked if i would like to go inside the aircraft . I nearly passed out but said yes , and i got some great keep sake photos .
Superb footage of some great iconic aircraft of the era, The Mosquito will always be my favourite warbird.
Awesome pure footage without music! I love it! 1000 thanks!
Firstly thank you kindly for this footage and thank you for not putting some rubbish music over the top of the beautiful merlin ambiance :-)
Great video. I wish we had a flying Mossie here.
Still, we did get the two Lancasters in at my local airport for a few days.
I'm so excited because i'm going to see the Lancasters tomorrow
How was the show? I hope it was impressive enough to still be on your mind after five years.
Absolutely incredible footage .Well done boys .
I am definitely making the trip to Hamilton Ontario Canada to see the airshow again. I happened to be driving by Hamilton a few years ago and saw the Lancaster flying an amazing sight! But in formation with all these planes....wow...just wow.
Wonderful footage. I think all my birthdays have come at once.
The best sights and sounds I could ever ask for! Thank you
must have watched this 100 times and its justa s impressive now , , , that noise is just music to the ears .....wish my father was still alive to see this , he would have had this on loop play for eternity .
Awesome video. Thanks. Its probably the closest any of us will get to flying with any of these amazing aircraft. And as was said elsewhere, thanks for not adding a musical soundtrack. V12 Merlins will do me any day!.
What a joy to these beautiful planes in the air together .
Exhilarating and moving. Where's that replay button?
That made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. What I wouldn't have given to have been there to hear that combination of aero engines.
Heartfelt thanks for sharing this with us.
Absolutely beautiful film. No commentary, just perfect views of WW2 aircraft. I DO have a fondness for Vera! ….Almost as much as 'City of Lincoln'!!!
What a set of beauties!
Remember seeing these as a child growing up. Lincolnshire, England. 'Look mummy, theirs and aeroplane up in the sky'
Just fantastic footage, would love to have been there, alas I will have to just remember the day I got to sit in a Spit. Thanks for sharing.
I've never seen such magnificent coverage except in the "movies"! Next best thing to being there. Wonderful!! Thank you very much for posting this.
David
Amazing stuff!, I was surprised at how much work the Pilot had to put in to fly her, his feet were never ending on the pedals, and hands always doing something!
Superb! What amazing footage, thanks for posting this!
This is truly amazing! What an experience this must have been. Thank you for sharing!
The wonderful Rolls Royce (and Packard built) Merlin in all it's glory....... Awesome video thank you. 😎
What an absolutely amazing collection of aircraft all flying in formation together! A warbird enthusiasts dream and something most never get too see and others only get to see once.
If there was someone in the tail turret of the Lancaster can you imagine the view that was?!?
And every one of them powered by Merlin engines....well, maybe except for that later model Spitfire, maybe a Griffon engine...
And later in the video; B-25; when I was first getting my ratings back in the 70's there was a place up in Maine, US, where you could actually get your multi rating on a B-25, I think they had a couple of them. I never got up there, got my multi on and old Cessna 310...oh well.
This video made my day!
Having flown in both the Lanc and the Mossie many years ago this brings back very pleasant memories.
Wow wo-men, what a fantastic formation. Thanks for filming and sharing. Greets form Germany. :)
You are lucky-it was a bad day in Manchester in 1996 when ours fell out of the sky, I had only seen it 2 weeks before at North Weald where it did the best display I have ever seen!!
Fan-bloody-tastic video! Thank you for posting on here and sharing with us. Amazing start to finish ...
Absolutely fabulous coverage all around!
Absolutely amazing footage and amazing planes..love it,thanks for putting it up..
I can't understand what those dislikes are for!! What is there not to like about this video??!!
Sir you have to understand out there, there be dipshits who have no soul or feeling for anything living or flying, we the intelligent few have to pity them, Live Long and Prosper.
***** Alas it would be easy just to say to your comment but there are people out there in many countries who have no heart and soul for this kind of beauty, Live Long and Prosper Ian.
they are germans XD
Sorin Molnar NO !! Thamks Warren for the camera work !
butt hurt 'Argentinians'
Beautiful sound and brilliant film. Saved in faves
Desde Argentina: muy bueno el video, muchas gracias..
Super green with envy, you utter utter git. Love it, thanks!
Truly terrific, great camera work inside and out well done. They were brave pilots during the war, especially when you have all that
Glass above your heads. Thank you for the video John Kinnane
What a formation! Amazing video 😮
This is one of the most gorgeous pieces of footage I have ever seen. It gave me fucking chills. I fucking loved the part where Lancaster peels off near the end of the flight, really gave it some perspective and feel to the way these things flew.
Just a little bit of fighter protection ;-) Awesome vid, great to see them all flying!
Great video. Bummer to those who thumbs downed it. Why the hell you ever give this thumbs down?
The best video on RUclips... Ever! Thank you Canada!
Brilliant video!
A beautiful sight, thanks for the video 🙂
Fine footage, well done! I enjoyed it very much to see these planes flying from this perspective, you lucky guy!
Breathtaking, thanks for sharing.
We live not for from Mount Hope and the CWH museum so we get to see some of these birds fly over our house on occasion. Always a treat. The Firefly and the B25 are fairly regular visitors, the Lanc once in a while. We also see Tiger Moths, Harvards, Fleets, and other trainers on the wing. A nice pace to live for an airplane buff.
Fantastic video, beautiful planes!!
Excellent video thanks for sharing
What an awesome collection of captivating WWII aircraft!...….Guess you could call it Merlin Thunder. Great vid, thank you.
I love this. Beutifully pictured warbirds, and wonderfull song from the Merlins. Well done.
you got to love the sounds of those engines. and i am an American and i love those sounds so much.
Love the 'change hand gear up' manouver.
Absolutely stunning!
WOW INCREDIBLE VID!!!!!!!! THANKS FOR POSTING
Best video ever.
I do believe this is the day that Joe from the TV series Ice Pilots (Buffalo airways)
was on board the Lanc as a guest, Im pretty sure his son Mike is on the tarmac at the end waiting for him to disembark... great shots of the spits, hurricanes, and of course the Lanc...
I think they were P-51 mustang as the harricains had the air scoop under the engine than that far back on the airplane
Awesome you can even hear the air brakes differential braking on the taxi out, also just flicking the brake lever (saw the air gauge move) just before raising the gear to stop the wheels spinning. Wow what a camera angle behind the Lancaster
So awesome! The mosquito was may fav since I was a kid. Now I WORK at that airport and get to refuel military jets, and the Snow Birds themselves, all while this beauty revs up and taxi's by! So cool up close!
The best 14:30 on RUclips. All pilots and aircrew must have had the best time.
Even us on the ground crews loved it :D
Simply beautiful.
Amazed how big the Lancaster looks compared to the mosquitoe
What a wonderful display. The Canadians really do know how to put on a shadow . God bless Canada 🍁 🇨🇦
This video is EPIC many thanks !
I've not come across this video before. Its amazing! Unique. And what an incredibly loud noise from the two Merlins. People, including myself, don't cater for how loud they are when you're actually in the aircraft!
Well each engine is 27 litres of V12 supercharged power.
No silencers (mufflers), just the exhaust stubs.
Makes me wonder how they could hear the intercom.
Thank you so much for posting this amazing video. What I wouldn't give to see all these warbirds together at once. Reckon I will have to get myself over there. Mind you we may possibly have two Lancs flying in the next couple of years......Just Jayne as East Kirby is being readied for flying so I understand.
Thanks again for sharing this momentous occasion!
Excellent video well Done! The sound of those Merlin's made music to my ears.
superb.thank you for the great video
