I hope to give some constructive criticism here. I don’t mean to be negative, I just think I should express my feelings as a viewer. So Matt, I think Historyland has lost its identity and doesn’t feel as unique anymore. You’ve mentioned in the past that you love putting in the commercials between segments because they give off the “retro” feeling of watching old VHS tapes. That retro format of Historyland completely set you apart from every other Disney RUclipsr. It really felt like popping in one of my old Disney VHS’. It was the perfect atmosphere for learning about the past, in my opinion. But now, after a two volume progressions in quite a short amount of time, that retro format seems to have made way to a more “modern” veil. Unfortunately, this new, modern style is basically the same kind of stuff I see a lot of other RUclipsrs doing-in the Disney circle and outside of it (i.e. blurred backgrounds, no unique/snappy edits, just footage on a reel). Like, it’s starting to feel too much like video-essays. I guess what I’m proposing is for you to evaluate if you really want to hone in on the retro format or this new modern one. If you want to go modern, I would strongly suggest either including more intricate editing, or doing more research so that you can present pieces of information that no one else has said on here before and have your extra content make up for lack of special editing. Anyway, that’s just my 2 cents. You’re clearly doing a good job as is, but I think if you lock down on a consistent, immersive style for Historyland, more and more people will be able to hop in and enjoy your videos.
