Gatemouth makes other guitar playing sound rudimentary!!! The best guitarist of all time and I'm not just saying that because he's my dad! The essence of music daddy. :)
he was always in touch with his audience at a deep level ...and would sit in the bar during his breaks so you could chat with him !I love him so much !
Saw him many times. Fiddle - piano - musical genius!!!

Hi Renee! Love your dad's music and his personality too
Ms Brown - I agree wholeheartedly....his style is so smooth and has the Louisiana / East Texas chicken plucking style that is something I enjoy so much. I saw Clarence in Houston at the Mucky Duck around 2000 and got a great picture of him that is proudly hung on my wall.
I am not sure who we were sitting next to at the Duck but they were 3 great friends of his and remember well them calling out to Gatemouth to let er rip much to the dislike initially of the normally quiet crowd. I laughed with these gents all night and it was one of the best concerts I had ever seen - and I saw Jimi Hendrix once - I have been a huge fan ever since and still burn up the CD's I bought that night.
All the best to you and may Gatemouth RIP and teach them boys in heaven how to really play.
Gatemouth was my neighbor as a kid one of the coolest guys ever
Lucky, you!!!! Would love to hear your stories.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the Late Great Gatemouth Brown
RIP
You were a Bad Ass Sir, nothing but respect!
☠️❤️☠️
Something special about how the real greats can sit back and let others share the spotlight, because it's all about the all together. Incredible.
Another American music legend that far too few people knew about and could have appreciated while he was still with us. And by the way, he played circles around both Carlos and Buddy.
This music keeps me alive god bless them all
Incredible , These guys were having FUN !!!!!
Great jam, great Clarence, Great Carlos Santana, great Buddy Guy!!!
Sublime !!!!
First time I've seen this and I thought, "Could that be Carlos Santana?". it seems that I am right. great music. Mr. Brown was underappreciated over his career. K
I'm not kidding around here. Murray, I could easily become your biggest fan. I clearly hear both your Hendrix and Clapton influence in this tune. Don't deny it. The second solo was so pre 70's Clapton. Not verbatim but any decent guitarist could hear the influence. Okay, I'm a guitarist and whether someone agrees with my tastes or not, I can tell when and why I enjoy another guitarists playing. I really enjoyed it because you dod it LIVE. Thanks Murray
Can’t put my finger on what I’m hearing from gatemouth... mindblowingly smooth and musical!! Great ensemble!
He's pickin the hell out of that guitar, that's what you're hearing
22 people gave this a thumbs down ??? 22 haters in the world is too many for me ,Gatemouth Brown is awesome and Carlos is playing a different style than his usual and thats hard to do
Let him hey we just keep doing what we do
Thank U very much ! So GOOD !!

Awesome. Isn't it ironic that nothing gives a high quite like the Blues?
That was absolutely amazing. It even kept my 9 year old's interest
My brain is about to explote... Santana was like "help me out Buddy"
No me canso de ver y escuchar éste video. Es una joya del blues. Música tocada con maestría y con un excelente gusto. Gracias por compartir..
With Buddy Guy and Santana! This vid has been here 11 years, and less than half a million views? That's criminal!
Awesome Song, superb saxophone playing with furious intensity!
Love the Best of The Blues
Wow! Helluva' Jam! Gatemouth's the Boss!
Clarence , old school , but as vicious as a Texas rattler on that guitar !
old school or new school... Clarence will send you back for more guitar education
Wonderful,💪💪💪 great artist very blues ❤️❤️🌹
Soul In the Air, Im Gonna Breathe That In... Love It
Gatemouth is amazing 👏👏👏👏🎸🎸🎸🎸

Buddy having a blast on Carlos' PSR axe.
This is masterwork woh how good is this.
Great ! Clarence has been a Blues hero ! Rip. MV
Fantastic, the very best! Thank you for sharing.
just fantastic........****** great post..
Thank you for posting
First time I felt like dancing in a long time, though
Gatemouth is badass!!!
@princessroxgirl2 You hit that one on the head my friend! Gatemouth makes other guitar playing sound rudimentary!!! The best guitarist of all time and I'm not just saying that because he's my dad! The essence of music daddy. :)
i realize how lucky i was to have seen live and up close at a small bar called "the decade" in pittsburgh in the mid-eighties...he is definitely one of my top 3 guitar players along with danny gatton and SRV
Gatemouth 💯💯 My lord..music 4 THE soul
His guitar is crazy all over ...
this is by far one of the better gatemouth brown clips - i have had the great fortune of attending many of mr. brown live appearances - it's first rate music - so good it makes one cry. he is one of the vanguards of the american musical tradition
Gatemouth's time-feel is incredible-better than Santana's!
I agree!
You damn right !
They are both unique. Gate has many more tricks up his sleeve and was a multi-instrumentalist, not to mention amazing singer and entertainer
Ya I wouldn't really compare those two guitarists, they are so different. Gatemouth is a picker, I'd compare him to Roy Buchanan or someone that can really pick the guitar
Diffrent Classes one of the best and what a showman. Also check out Roy Clark
Love Love This Man!!!
Shivering version of a Blues classic
Sax: Eric Demmer
this vid is awesome to the max
Wow! a treasure in music. Love it!!
i've seen that sax player at local blues jams so many times over the years, and on a lot of live music vids across many decades. crazy
Amazing 💪❤️❤️😘🥰
That is one SICK groove!!!
Man, I reached the other side, I mean, heaven, it's beautiful.
Nice
The brass is simply astonishing.
0:17 Santana looks at Clarence and doesn't what to do. (Clarence smiles)
0:28 Satana asks to the bass player "Man what are you doing"?
1:21 Santana shakes his head saying I'm sory guys I can't do this lol
lol I seen that too lol
Yeah, as if Carlos Santana wouldn't know how to play a 12 bar blues in G. A 4 year old could do it and wouldn't have to have a capo at the third fret. Clarence has a great feel but technically and tonally not so hot. Just saying!
J ai eu la chance de le voir à Cimiez concert à jamais gravé 🎉dans mon coeur soirée inoubliable.....
Amazing performance from all and I feel Carlos and Buddy were there in respect of the Gate.
This is so good it’s painful. Ooouch!!!

master returns to us
nice tigt riff, love Gatemouth's clean sound!!
I thank Thee. I thank thee Lord, For my furst cup of coffee, For the herbs and spices, That enhances every meal, For the fruits in the garden, The wheat in teh fields, For the sun, the moon, The rain and the stars, For the babbling brook, The songs played on a guitar, For the lovely seasons, And the sky so blue, But most of all, Because I have You. God Bless You, Reverend Queen Tammy Mast Rozman, Amen
Joe Krown on keys, Eric Dimmer on sax and David Peters on drums were part of Gates Express. Not sure about the other guys.....except Santana and Buddy Guy, of course.
Daryl Jones on bass (Rolling Stones) thanx for the others band's names
wicked sax solo!!!!
Vraiment excellents ces musiciens !! j'adooore
Just an incredible set! For those wondering, Santana is very much in Gatemouth's ballpark, with some frantic but accurate playing. ;-)
Dayum those horns though. Something else. Good stuff
GMB been doin that since before lots of them guys were born!
Saw Gatemouth at the Crystal Corner in Madison many, many moons ago.....Cat's cool!
I love these people
¡ Simplemente hermoso !
He was one of a kind. Played blues but happy way.
Texas doesn't mess around when it comes to talent.
Hot stuff! I love Gatemouth's style. Monster horn section and Buddy Guy taking a spin on Santana's beautiful PRS. What more can one ask for?
p.s. That's not Victor Wooten on the Warwick bass. Whoever he is, he's good!
Myron Dove in bass.
Eduardo Q. Thanks!
blues give me power of life
MONSTER-MASHUP! NUFF SAID!!
i am so ashamed of myself... how could i had never heard of something so awe as this, excuse me as i watch this for another 2-3 days just to make it up
Awesome
L'arte del BLUES......no comment
Carlos is great, but Gatemouth definitely got this one.
real bad ass :)) cool vid man!
Trombone is on top his game
Yeah, that alto player absolutely CRUSHED it!! Anyone know who he is?
Eric demmer out of Houston
great stuff fantastick
Wow. Clarence makes Santana look like a bit player. Gotta study this guy and figure out that style. Amazing.
Banana Republic USA
I second that! Never heard playing like that before . It’s like his guitar is talking to you !
As legends go, Santana is classic, but he does his style, not to much variation. but Gatemouth defies labels, he is superb, and his style doesn't fit neatly into a box as others do.
❤❤❤

Killer version!! How about that freaking saxophone!! Man I miss nights like this
Yep and Frank Zappa looked up to Gatemouth too
As you said is a simply and tipical cercle, three chords and it's in G, which is one of simpliest. But the point is not the chords, he knows them really well. It's about swing, feeling + blues + jazz progression and you can see it when Clarence plays or the saxophon player does it, saludos.
Nunca tan bien explicado...tocar blues es fácil, hacerlo bien es lo realmente difícil... saludos
Dommage qu'il faille se fader le solo de Santana, à part ça c'est juste génial.
Looks like Carlos Santana is having a blast!
True Stuff!
Blues Power~!
Cei mai vacari Santana și Guy.
FAB!!
Cool dude.
@Gatesgirl79: I'm not sure why I crack you up but, happy to be of service. I wish that some of the younger kids who respond to the music of their time could give Gatemouth a listen. Unfortunately there is little corporate profit in marketing him. Those of us who have been lucky enough to have been enriched by his music however...wow! He's a bit like T-Bone Walker but (I think) a lot more fun. Kinda like what music is all about.
