      @@SeriosBillios my girlfriend and I have had our BMWs for a year. Mine is a 435d convertible, hers a 335d (both X-drive). I love my 435d for style, cruising and general experience with the top down, but hers is unbelievable. I drive hers whenever I can, because the pure drive is more fun than you could ever imagine from a diesel. You feel you can take anyone on, while at the same time being under the radar, getting great mpg and the comfort of a good size saloon. I can even fit my giant pair of 6ft-plus kids in the back. I have to drive my 435 in Sport/Sport+ mode to get it anywhere near the 335 in Comfort. Could not recommend the 335d highly enough. Stunning car. Especially in Tanzanite Blue

    i loved the review, i just went to test one today. coming from a e93 m3 conv. and thinking why the hell am i paying £550 road tax getting 15mpg and it going through £250 rubber bands! i know it looks bland but the one i seen had the 20s and perf pack, so it did look really nice. it did drive better aswell. performance wise in real world the 335d makes more sense. only thing i will miss is the sound.

    Great review... bought one of the last F31 335d Touring’s with a crazy discount....first job was to take the badges off so it looks like the 320d.... assisted by the exhausts. Went to DMS today so it now has 395 bhp lol.... (Thanks Rob - top man). Drive home on a busy motorway was 39mpg... Epic package, hard to beat cross country and will surprise a lot of people (740NM of torquey things)

    I had a BMW 335d M Sport Pus from August 2016-November 2017. Loved it, didnt want to give it back but it was a short term lease. Went to BMW to get another one however there was a deal on at the time 0% APR on any diesel four series. So got a 435d M Sport Plus (which comes with more toys as standard than the 335d M Sport Plus) and i have loved it since November 2017. Got it till November 2021, will be gutted to see it go back because at the moment it doesnt look like BMW are doing a 435d or 335d in the new range. Great engine, recently drove to Derby for work which is a 100 odd mile journey one way. Averaged 50mpg. Absolutely class.

    I like the review very much. Very honest and genuine. However some of the negatives about softer suspension and small exhaust pipes to some people including myself are actually positives. I love the fact this thing drives like 320d, looks like it but when you need it you have 300bhp+ a tons of torque on tap. I think this thing spec'd with smallish wheels would be perfect for touring around coarse bumpy UK motorways and on the continent too. Economy is great given its power and I think if it's in comfort mode it won't be playing fake sound through the speakers.

    Good to watch a review with strong opinions, not just trying to be balanced and ending up bland. Gives a good sense of what the car is like. I agree about BMW indicators, I found the same thing for quite a while, but you can adjust to it. Takes a bit of learning, now I don't mind it.

    I've got this exact car 335d touring & this is the best review l have heard 100% spot on. It's all the best bits from the M3 but you don't look like a nob or a drug dealer for me thats a plus & no stupid Police attracting sound just a lovely deep rumble. Had to laugh , he's so right the indicators are total crap only 1 or 2 down sides for me , the other is a rattle on the small door lock buttons on the top of the doors. For me 335d is a secret a truly superb car one of the very very best ever for so many reasons but "understated" is the main one for me l absolutely love mine .

      It will become a money pit like all BMWs do just look at the M3 or my E30.
      But all cars do with age, it’s purely because bmw are real scummy with their prices for replacement parts so it’s really bad.
      Though a Mercedes of similar age and mileage would be worse.
      Mpg I mentioned before, incredible and I had a 420d as a loaner car for its first service and that got worse mpg and was the dullest thing I have ever driven in my life.... no I lie, the new Mini Cooper (even the S and SD) were the most boring things I had to ever drive. Awful things and the irony is they are supposed to be fun!
      The mk2 new mini (model before) was hilarious fun and my late mother’s cooper D was hilarious fun and handled like a go kart and despite being a diesel, it had that turbo punch which is always fun, especially in a tiny car... new minis are HUGE in comparison.
      Anyway sidetracked there.
      Buy a good 335D if you want silly power and economy and don’t mind it being a bit boring or better yet Alpina D3 which gives all the pluses of the 335D but none of the minuses, I love that car and would own one if I ever get the chance.

    Thanks for that Dan. I decided on a 435d Gran Coupé. Yes it's quick and does 40mpg average over 2000 miles. The sound of the straight 6 is as it is not piped which is quite nice. I've had 3 passengers who didn't know it was a diesel. As for the indicators, soft indicate the opposite direction to turn it off. A proper indicator would be miles better I agree. Thanks again for the inspiration.

    I’ve only ever owned bmws and realised that it’s got its own niche indicator but it does work. Yes it doesn’t click down into position like other cars. But it functions like other cars like normal though. Soft tap either way = 3 signals. Press it down harder it’ll stay there till it’s registered your turn. To cancel it soft tap the other direction and it’ll cancel it without activating the other side. And if it’s a over take for example. Soft tap and hold it.

    If you’re indicating left and want to cancel the indicator, press it to indicate left again. This will cancel it and save indicating right by mistake by “over-pressing” it too far the opposite direction.

    Own one of these on a 2015. Astonished at how fast it is and my last car was a 550HP V8! This is actually quicker of the line as it can get the power down. Handles OK but is best kept in a straight line. I find I feel every bump in the road with the suspension though which is at variance with all the reviews saying SE suspension is soft. Maybe needs new shocks or has been modified.

    Absolutely bloody brilliant review, all the pluses and negatives highlighted clearly, you've just helped me decide what I'm having on lease next - 335d all the way. Do you feel the xdrive system to be a genuine benefit or does it kill the fun slightly?

    • @TheBenchmarkuk
      @TheBenchmarkuk  7 лет назад

      Jonathan Elliott very kind thank you :-)
      The xdrive is a love/hate thing. I love the fact I can boot it in almost any condition without having any scary moments. But then I hate the fact it removes some feel on corners and a slight amount of understeer due to the added weight.
      In a ideal world we should be given the option, but it is what it is.
      Still a great car though.

    • @simonhooker7415
      @simonhooker7415 4 года назад

      After a short while, you realise the indicator system makes sense. Indicate, and the stalk returns to centre, to cancel (other than self-cancelling when the wheel returns), just tap it in either direction (up or down). I turn off a road near me, so indicate, and as I turn in, I need to cancel early because I could be mistaken as showing I need to turn into the immediate small side road. So as I sweep the wheel round, I press the stalk down and that does it. If I had a standard indicator stalk, I would have to move my hand away from steering left to push the stalk up.

    Good video but how on earth you have so much trouble with the perfectly simple and easy to use indicators is beyond me. You tap it for a 3 tick burst or click it to indicate properly and if it doesn't turn off cos maybe it was a shallow corner or something all you need to do is tap it gently in the same direction again. You don't have to click it the opposite way and risk indicating in the opposite direction. I'll admit I have done that in the past but it's no way the problem you make it out to be. To be honest I mostly just use the 3 tick burst these days.

A 6 speed DSG and its fast enough. But I have had a 6 Cylinder TDI BMW 330 E46 and F30. And now my plan is to wait another year, two max, and I am going to buy a 330D M sport G20. That's a car no matter which Petrol powered car you compare to it, unless it's a Porsche 911... Eats'em all for breakfast. With a remap it comes to 317hp and 715 NM of torque, what more could you ever need.

    There is to much different between diesel and gasoline (same car) what about durability, feelings driving, modification, how often does it break and how expensive it is. Nice vídeo . Thanks.

      Well it’s not as fun to drive, steering is numb but so are all modern cars.
      Sounds are fake through the speakers and outside it sounds like a diesel.
      Very reliable in my ownership, thrashed the life out of it, never ran it in and went a few thousand miles past the oil change/service.
      But it’s stupid fast, can do 55mpg with no effort and even upto 70 if you try really hard and that’s when tuned too.
      It’s a excellent car, handles quite well, has 4wd so is very stable in all conditions.
      But it’s not exciting like a 340i, not even close.
      But the torque is insane and addictive.
      It’s a fantastic car especially in wagon/estate guise.
      However if you go into my videos you will see the Alpina D3 and that is incredible.
      Same performance really but it handles and feels 10x better and I would buy that over this, a M3 and a 340i

      @Baza H I do best part of 30k miles a year so don't want to be spending too much on fuel if I don't half the miles I would be looking at a car that needs to be driven such as the M3.

      Yes, I have been driving rather aggressively recently due to urgent matters and fairly low tyre pressures and averaged 38mpg over 200 miles. usually its mid 40s _tyres at 39psi) and quite often in eco pro and cruising mid 50s.

    same goes for turning right, you press up to turn right and then press up again to turn it off.

      Dandanfings it doesn't have the M sport suspension due to it being an xdrive and was also the reason it no longer has the wheelbarrow exhaust that you have on the E90 335d M sport because of it, it wouldn't fit apparently.
      It's definitely naff that the engine note comes from a speaker, I didn't know that.
      I still prefer the E90 that I have, I love the wheelbarrow exhaust and it's remapped to 390bhp and 750 Newton meters of torque, it's a beast lol.

    • @xMilkyyy
      @xMilkyyy 7 лет назад

      u can get the double exhaust on 335d/435d from aftermarket sources. i did ask just yesterday at the dealership if they have any system like this for my 435d (which has a electronic towbar) and they said they would give me the answer in a few days. altough after a few minutes on the internet i have found many aftermarket brands that sell double exhausts for the xdrives and for cars with the towbars

    • @AngloSaxonVanguard
      @AngloSaxonVanguard 7 лет назад +1

      A C Schnitzer UK do the wheelbarrow exhaust for the xdrive.
      If you do get it done, I definitely recommend getting 4" tailpipes, I replaced my 3" tailpipes just recently and looks so much better.
      I also replaced the stock diffuser with a vorsteiner rear diffuser. It looks amazing.
      The xdrive diffuser is a joke, it's so lowdown at the very bottom of the rear bumper. Front bumper looks really nice.
