@@jaaydakid9717 his is a pretty bouncy one bro but don’t worry i have the non bouncy one you maybe gotta boost it up a bit and stuff in the settings and shorten it and you should be all food
If you want your 808 to hit like this without having to touch a soft clipper on your track, just use a Waveshaper on it and gainstage it. You'll get this same exact sound but at a much lower DB level
Any specific preset to use on wave shaper ? I know how to gainstage but how would I apply wave shaper to the 808?

@@Cashcrop91 bro just drag the middle circle on the basic seting it opens up with and then for extra sauce boost low eq and only after that a soft clipper on rlly light settings

big sauce, this works in ableton too. Push spinz 808 into a saturator with the drive set at 0 and soft clip turned on. throw on a utility before and after the saturator to make sure its hitting the saturator hard enough without the track/master actually clipping. This info has been impossible to find anywhere for mad long, good shit lol

My method is just simply clicking on he 808 and then on the right side next to "Precomputed effects" I click on that little thing and there I scoll up 3 times (so it will be on 19%) on the boost knob
Yee I put a 5% precomp boost on all my drum samples before I do anything else

I hate it personally... tried Trav’s mixing/leveling with limiter & tr5.. meh maybe for IM type beats but as for south side type melodies I find the sound and clipping to be way offf .. besides Pyrex has said time and time again he just uses straight soft clipper 😂
You can use smack attack from waves on the insert itself and boost for that clipping sound without blasting out your speakers like that
any preset you need to use for this? or just put on clip and turn up the output?
@@David-my6bs it’s easy to use just play with it but make sure your using a limiter on your master to control the peaks from your insert

Can u do the drums for ain’t no time future, when the spinz goes to A minor key it gets muddy but when southside did it on evol the drums sounded clean
You tried raising the mid rage in the equalizer for the 808? It may need some saturation.

it's because Seth firkins (rip) future's mixing engineer cut the very low Frequencies of the 808s on 20-25hz, its sound way cleaner ,I don't recommend doing this if you are not a mixing engineer because you will probably cut too much frequencies and lose the punch of the 808, so let's leave that to the engineers.👍

808 is common, it’s called spinz 808. The hat is an open hat, look up some kits and it will show up.

Turn up the boost on the 808
It only clips in the mixer channel that doesn‘t matter at all. You already have a softclipper on the master which does exactly what your extra sc did on the mixer channel. Or is there a real improvement with 2 softclippers cause i don‘t hear it

You can use the limiter and still get the drums to hit without using the clipper

He actually doesn’t use any clipper.. of any sort , on any channel 😳 I’m assuming due to his large following and ability to have an engineer touch it up... usually even lets upwards of 3/4- or every instrument clip... only “mastering” done is the preset eq on the master mixer he boosts mids & highs (it’s the bottom eq on every channel) ... as for FX he adds Effector distortion (left hand bottomish side) & effector filter to cut highs .. hi hats he uses Fast Dist compressor preset and depending on beat FL Reverb with 1-2 notches turned up on wet (anymore can take away from the HH’s dominating mix ... this fye tho, wouldn’t call it Pyrex as much as I would ChaseTheMoney/Sizzle ... fye bounce for a quick ass ATL 808 pattern ! .. I was told before that he mixed into soft clipper but from some insiders and videos showing the screen during studio sessions , interviews etc it’s pretty much confirmed ! Hopefully this help... at the end of the day just make YOUR music & wait until you can “just have an engineer fix it” ahahaha dope beat , you gotta teach your hi hats tho fasho fasho , I usually just do em randomly until it works but those HH’s were dummy 🔥🔥🔥

I’ve found for hi hats that cutting some , trimming the entirety , then boosting up one tick , playing with the cut & res are all some lowkey gems that south side does (on top of Love Philter, reverb & effectrix lol)

I’m pretty sure it’s wrong as FinnaFinesse (the sauce god himself) stated when I asked him where he came up with the info to debunk (my prior mentioned theory) he said just all round knowing people, interviews, lives , and screen showing from other producers who cook up WITH Rex... apparently he lets everything clip.. (you can see my updated comment if you wanna see more) (or peep FinnaFinesse’s Pyrex tutorial, shoutout bc he dropped mad sauce) but essentially it just comes down to having an amazing engineer really... dude let’s everything clip , no soft clipper , then BOOSTS the mids and highs with the pregiven F9 mixer EQ lmaooo... so imma just stick to the soft clipper trick I first mentioned
