So do I! ❤ love your papier machè hanimals Sandi 😊😁 so cute! Soon as I saw your horse I immediately thought Star Wars too lol 😄 so funny but so cute and childlike 😊 I love them all. Oh you could name your winged horse Pegasus! (Or is that taken?) Really enjoyed this post Sandi 💚
for ages now ive been trying to think of a way to work 3d that doesn't require clay. I was thinking about papier mache but getting in a state about doing it in a very 'proper' way... seeing you build these supports and then paper over them like this is super inspiring! thank you.
Omg the PAPER MACHE FRIENDS AND FRUIT! I CAN’T EEEEVEN! Soooooo funnnnn Sandiiiii! Sitting here smiling like mad at the breakfast table, a great dose of SH joy going into my day. Thank you so much xx
Love the cafe with the wonky perspective outside - it makes it look like it's windy and wild weather outside, but settled indoors. For painting your paper animals, I think you'd enjoy the way Celia Woods paints her ceramics (she likes to make slightly wonky pots). It's joyful and may inspire you to use your own motifs.
I really enjoy watching your paint everyday series, it’s so fun and inspirational. I love your still life and bird paintings and your paper mache pieces are brilliant fun, I especially love the owl and winged horse………can’t wait to see them all painted💛 Thank you for sharing🙏🏼
Love the paper mache animals! Laughed out loud when you said that they might just stay like that for the rest of their lives. I have many artworks that I started and abandoned before completed so I can relate 😃
I still love when you paint still life. Love the coffee shop paintings. You always inspire me. The thing you are missing from your papier mache is wire, it gives the structure but when I did it I literally hated the wire part. Applying the mache bit was so much fun because it brings the thing to life.
Such fun and inspiring Sandi!!¡❤the wonky perspective, still life art, work with black background and especially the paper mache animals¡!😊😊. I painted p.mache pig and frog 🐸 I made with gouache and sealed with acrylic medium. Lots of work making but fun!! Thanks for sharing. ❤😊❤😊 From Canadian artist 🎨.
Love borders! Try out stitching your borders some time, like when you paint/sketch on paper. Thick embroidery thread is perfect, and you can just stitch any old way, no sewing rules. 😊 It gives a great effect and is fun. Just something I do sometimes, also around an object within a sketch or sketch painting. Anyway, just an idea. Thank you for another great video. You're a ray of sunshine.
I love your exploration with paper sculpture! I can see this leading into a beautiful and fun ceramic exploration - in all of their wonky and whimsical beauty! It would be so fun to have a vase, animal, or a coffee cup of yours…something to dream about 🥰
Hi Sandi, thanks for sharing your work. I absolutely love how you refered to your different works as "seasons". I like to create in many different mediums and styles and choose different subjects. I basically paint what I enjoy. Its been a slight worry to me that I see many established artists who create art in the same style and I thought I might be doing something wrong by flitting about so much. Thankyou for giving me the reassurance to continue on my path my way.
Thanks for the inspiring video, Sandi! The papier mache brings back childhood memories of texture and shape - I love the idea of bringing these forward into adult life! Especially love your owls, in paper and in paint. And all those dark backgrounds you’ve been doing. Thanks for sharing all this joy.
Thank you for such a colourful, textured journey through your work - love it! This is a bit left field but I stumbled upon an artist being interviewed on RUclips (and on Insta) and she did the most interesting things. Alice Herbst is from Stockholm - and amongst other very individual approaches to her work, she makes 3D shapes and then paints those shapes in her finished works. Soooo interesting. The thought of your big toothy horse (and duck?!) featuring in a future painting made me happy😊
I often work in the same way as you with your still lives, just keep drawing / painting the same image until you're confident, and that way you achieve such great looseness. And you are able to change things you might not have liked in the previous painting, and not be too precious about your work !
You crack me up! What a way to start my early cafe morning! The paper animals are so cute, can’t wait for the follow up or not….beautiful paintings and love the color palettes on the flora fauna ones? Thanks Sandi!
Memories of The Landscape is an INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!! MUST SEE! - loved your new work with birds, flora, borders, etc. and the animals. All wonderful and fun. Thank you for your inspiration. Best to you and Grady, Sondra Borrie
Another feast for the eye 🤗 I also really hope you get a second wind for the paper-marcher figures/vases, they are going to be so much fun when you do get around to painting them!
I love your paper mache things. I have made a lot of things and some of the nicest (to me anyway) are the ones which have not been painted. For most part I use free fresh food magazines from the supermarket.
I have that black and white plant book all the way over here in Australia! How awesome! I am so in love with your paper mache things. I can totally see the vision! What a great idea! Thanks for sharing with us, Sandi. : )
Always looks forward to your videos, Sandi, but I was particularly excited for the 'paint every day' ever since you mentioned it a few weeks ago. It never disappoints! So many lovely pieces. Thank you.
These paint every day vides inspire me, I only recently went to a local garden and painted a landscape very loose but I love it, thanks for being so inspiring
Sandi, your work is so inspirational to me! You communicate sincerity and joy through your mark making, I literally smile while looking at your work! You craft scenes from such interesting viewpoints, I feel like I'm sitting right beside you in the restaurant. Thank you for keeping a seat open beside you, for your audience to see the world through your eyes. :) PS: I am LOVING the new class!! I'm still working through it, and I'm having such fun and learning so much!
Hi Sandi, Your videos have given me so much joy and inspiration the last few years I’ve been Subscribed. I’ve started painting again. While doing so I’ve started to take notice in all of the small joys in life. Your videos have made me curious enough to live again and I’m so grateful. Thank you ❤️🌷 much love from Canada
Your classes are the best, Sandi! I have them all, and I have watched them multiple times. I learn something new each time, and I am always so inspired. Thank you for sharing your art journey with us! Blessings!
I am new to your channel and I have to say WOW! I love your freedom as you paint! I wonder what paper you use to paint on? Do you do pre sketches before all your paintings? Thank you, Sandi
You definitely need to paint up those wonky critters! It's so interesting to see you paint a subject multiple times and how your understanding of the work increases with each iteration. Lovely.
Dear Sandi, I have been enjoying your inspiring and fun RUclips videos for a couple of years now, some I have watched multiple times. I recently figured it was time to pay up a little and purchased your new class and just wanted to let you know I have been loving it! So much fun to go along with your travels in NM and especially got a lot from the painting demos. I love your art!! ❤ p.s. - Had to curb my enthusiasm for the art haul videos tho, so I don't end up living at the poor farm with all my art supplies 😂
ohhhhh thank you for taking a class! I really appreciate it and I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. AND I totally understand needing to curb the art haul vids 😂
I thought of Nancy Gruskin the minute you showed the papier-mâché pieces. Don't feel bad about not painting them yet. I have a couple of papier-mâché projects I made when I was taking a class with Nancy a few years ago, and they are still flour white.
I just watched the paper mache' part again. Grady and you make me laugh so much and my God I so appreciate you both. Star wars and pegasus. God bless you both . Kathleen
Wow so inspiring ! I had the worst 2 weeks due to chronic illness and haven’t touched a single pencil or paint brush. I hope I can be art active soon again.
I love Sandi Hester Fridays!
awesome!!!!!
