One of the best performances on guitar of this beautiful piece.
Yeah, very nice. I had heard this some time ago and had forgotten about it. I was glad to find it again
Nice intonation on that guitar! Great playing!
Beautiful!!!!!
Thank you for this beautiful moment.
Yes, Yes!, Yes!! That’s how to play vihuela music on a modern classical guitar. Clear voices ( Narvaez was hearing a choir) so few broken (rolled) chords) No melodrama, the music speaks for itself. Thank you!!!
Outstanding, thanks for for posting.
Matt is absolutely wonderful wherever is doing, passion and deepness of concept
I would love to have him as my teacher
That's wonderful!
Canción preciosa, enhorabuena al intérprete y gracias por subirla.
BRAVO, Matt
Beautiful

Wow Matt, you transported me, really nice job!
real contemplative, real speaking by using your guitar bravo, great great inspiration for my next exam study
Interpretazione preziosa, grazie!
magnifique !
Per the other person's comment. The mid range on this guitar sounds absolutely beautiful (to my ears.) With the capo, the bass is naturally not as deep which is going to highlight other frequencies. Beautiful and delicate performance too.
Ur amazing btw
Yo también la estoy tocando
Técnicamente es una versión del Mille regretz de Josquin des Prez... pero suena guay =)
is this the same one that is there in Trinity grade 8 syllabus of 2020-23
So so beautiful.
Would you tell me what transcription are you playing and if there is any possibility to get it?
Anyway, I liked very much.
Thank you!
It's the transcription by T. Otai, 1985 by DOREMI Music Pub. Co. Ltd. I have the sheets only as copy, I don't know how to get it...
+Weltuntergangodyssee Thank you : )
Sheila ijn I was just reading this from the original tab, making adjustments as necessary. I'm sure there are good versions published out there. Thanks!
+Matt Palmer ohh! I really like it. Very nice work, thanks! Kind regards from Spain.
素晴らしい才能だ
Is this same Thames double top I liked on other video? I listened both this one and Chaconne, and I feel guitar is incredibly boxy, especially mid range. Sounds very compressed to me. This is first time I hear a Thames guitar to leave something to be desired. Could be recording though. Well played and filmed.
+sargijapunk Maybe it sounds different because of the Capo?
It's probably because the original was not meant for guitar, but for vihuela, that the instrument normally Narváez composed for.
Soz ik im an ass but its luys not luis
After quite a number of poor interpretations I finally found this one!
Ingvar Backéus I like Dennis Azabagic's probably best. It is on his DVD.
My opinion: this kind of music should be played without variations of tempo like this.
less rubato and more strict tempo(I kinda agree becuse we have been used to the evenness and symmetry of the late baroque, but dont forget that at that age they didnt use the metronome so often) and if we want to recreate this kind of music with historic authenticity we should tune our instruments differently 12T ET became more standard towards the end of the baroque
No le falta vida mejor mudarra hay otra versión mejor
HEY yOUTUBE GUYS! YOUR ADS ARE SO CHEAP AND UGLY, AT LEAST MAKE MORE GENTLE ADS.
jBellisima interpretación, Matt. Ahora... Jessica, qué cámara inútil, pretenciosa y poco graciosa.
I like the recording but it falls short of what it could be. The piece is technically within your capabilities and tempo is on the whole about right. There are a few transitions where string squeaks can be heard. While I understand it is difficult to have a take without doing it at least once, I would recommend minimising this through slooooow practice and fixing the occasional mishap in post production.
The main issue I have is the way the tempo varies in relation to the phrasing. It feels like you have an urge to speed up whenever you do a scale. The beat or pulse is the lifeblood of the music and it needs to be regular. The way you currently do play the piece makes the listener feel like the music is purposelessly drifting or floating. Rhythm is key.
Well played but with room for improvement. Give you 6.5/10.
mindscape reality
Nothing is perfect.
Pay to much attention to the rocks on the road and you will never notice the landscape.
He's obviously an excellent guitarist. He's playing the piece with a lot of musicianship. So he uses some rubato in some of the phrasing. Sounds beautiful. Sorry if you don't get it.
This guy haha talking about Matt Palmer xD cmon man
