Shepherds are awful for skin infections, and I say that having had three, including a long haired one currently. They can suddenly develop a, itchy, painful, weeping sore overnight for seemingly no reason at all. There's an old adage for vet students - if you're asked to say a dog breed in which a disease occurs, but don't know, just say German Shepherd. That's especially true in allergies and skin issues.
My current boy has an antibacterial shampoo that sits on the shelf waiting for his next hot spot so that I can get it shaved, cleaned and dried as soon as I notice itching and redness to hopefully prevent a full blown infection. It happens so often that I usually spot it before there's even visibly broken skin.

It's always good to see a cop actually take care of the canine they're assigned, especially knowing 40% of canine unit deaths are caused by heatstroke due to lack of care- this mans is honorable in my book (especially because it was the dog acting lethargic that caused him to get it to the vet)

Or even as a trained emotional support animal during crisies with children involved. Just not like.. chasing an armed individual or things like that. Its inhumane to ask a literal dog to put their life on the line for these police members especially with how little they police are trained vs how well the dogs are trained.

@@mammontustado9680 While %40 is high, keep in mind how very few canines actually die in the line of duty (and many cops pull them out if they think there is a chance they could get badly hurt). Most cops actually love their canines and adopt them once the dogs get too old and have to retire.
In america you have to apply to be q canine officer, and the people they pick are often the people that volunteer to train and spend time with them before they are canine officers.

So strange that I just went through similar situation myself. Had a UTI that didn't get better with first antibiotic and turned into kidney infection. Had to stay in hospital and get lots of fluids and strong antibiotics. I also had a very high fever and my heart rate was dangerously low. On the med now thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses. So glad Scottie is also doing better. God bless and stay safe.

My sister went through the same thing, however you have done significantly better than her in realising you had a UTI.

I recently lost my German shepherd and am devastated. I know our dogs are special to us, but German shepherds are really a one person dog (although they will love the whole family, just not as much) and that bond is unbreakable. They are so in tune to you, it’s more like a spiritual connection. So when they’re also working for you which makes them really happy, it takes your bond to another level. My girl was a pet, but she was so protective and was basically like an emotional support dog for me, she helped me through some rough times. There are no words to describe this breed at all. ❤❤❤❤❤

I felt for him when he said "I do feel really bad" because it is how every pet owner feels whenever a pet is sick or injured. No matter how early you catch on and seek medical treatment, there's always that bit of guilt of "How did I not notice sooner?? I'm with them every day! :( "
