BIGGEST thing when it comes to dropping a bike: 1. Are you okay? (No broken bones, etc.) 2. Remember that bike parts can be replaced! 3. Mistakes can be our best teachers! 4. Don't worry about what others think/say--don't let another persons limiting beliefs stop you from riding. 5. Remember WHY you started riding! Don't let other people tell you how you should ride your own ride--we all have different riding styles and are passionate about different aspects of riding...NEVER stop doing what you love! Keep doing your thing! Hope you guys are having a great week.🎉🙌🏻

Thank you so much Reese!!! You just motivated me!!! Thank you!!! I just bought my new bike 🏍 3 weeks ago! Three times, 1-didn’t put the stand stick right,
2-I was coming home and hit the front and fell, last 3-I was going to start and I didn’t think and hit the throttle and I didn’t have a chance to grab the left handle and 🏍 took off on me about 15-20 feet while I was on the ground! I got up and I went to my ride! When I comeback I was going to give! But now with your positive attitude!!! I am going out right NOW to ride my bike!!!!!!!!
Thank you!!! Love you!!!!! Thank you be safe!!!!

That's why I added saddlebag guards, to go with the Harley factory engine guards. About the only thing that'll get scratched is the derby cover and whatever is on the opposite side of it. That said, when I practice, I only push a little bit at a time, so I get more comfortable at a slower pace, but with less risk of dropping the bike. Good on ya for not letting others influence you & your ride!

I'm a British Rider. I bought a Triumph Tiger this year and pulled up to a junction with panniers and a pillion. I didn't notice the small depression in the road next to my left foot. When we stopped and I put my foot down, - down we went. People rushed to help and drivers behind just waited patiently until we got back on. I was so shocked that I didn't notice the man trying to check if I was ok.I found strength to lift the bike as though I do it every day but the following day my back and hip were hurting. The upper crash-bar and pannier had tiny marks but no dents. My pillion was fine, she was strangely excited by the experience and it hasn't stopped her from wanting to ride more. I would’ve loved to see what it looked like from the driver behinds viewpoint

Thank you for sharing this! I think you’re so right seriously dropping your bike is not a big deal almost everybody does it at some point. My second time riding my brand new 2021 z400 I was pulling out of my business parking lot and did exactly what you did I cut the wheel to make a sharp turn didn’t think I was going to make it slammed on the brakes down went the bike lol. My husband was with me and he was just laughing at me and it was really no big deal my main concern was oh shit that I break some thing. I think it’s good that you’re trying to break the stigma! My only fear really is dropping the bike in traffic and somebody slamming into me so it’s like a safety thing but I really don’t care what people think.

    • @ReeseRides

It's excellent to be conscious of possible safety hazards and having that awareness around you! Very valid points, I was pretty bummed just seeing the damage (although very minor) I wasn't too thrilled haha. And not worrying what other people thing is great as well, you're able to just enjoy your own ride a lot more. (p.s. I wanna ride a Z400/Ninja 400 so bad!! Such awesome bikes!) I get a kick out of all of the Facebook Marketplace listings where someone is like "scratched up because the previous owner dropped it" - my dude, everyone has dropped their bike, just own up to it. I dropped my current bike in a situation sort of like you described - was tired, feeling crappy, coming up to a stop sign, decided to ride anyways. I came up to a stop sign, started pulling out with my handlebars locked for a right turn, and someone came through that I didn't see. I ended up grabbing the brakes and the bike tipped over. It happens!

    • @ReeseRides

Right?!😂 Chances are if a human owned the bike and rode the bike, it's gonna have normal wear and tear (dropping a bike included!) I think it's somewhat of an unrealistic expectation to put on oneself to never drop a bike...if anything I'm glad I experienced it, helped check my ego and also see that it's simply not the end of the world. Great video and I agree. Especially about the insecurities. Dropped my 1st bike being a 98' Ducati 748 first day when I received it from the delivery truck. In front of the driver and 5 other people, family & friends, who at that time thought it was cool to own but also thought I was crazy for wanting a bike... Okay that kinda hurt my small ego a bit, but hurt my wallet more... just a turn signal surprisingly. For me it's okay to drop the bike and I expect to drop it again who knows when, as long as nobody is hurt is what really matters. The thing that sucks for me however is my bike is very rare and most parts cost 4x the price of Japanese counterpart replacements, and many parts need to be shipped oversees. Considering there were only 2 748s selling in the entire US at the time I bought mine, and only a couple hundred made of each model every year on top.. I had to ship it 3000 miles to me here in CA, then pay like $800 to register DMV what a rip. So that's what hurts more than anything lol the exclusiveness. Was thinking of buying an 08' ZX6R soon so I could be less worried and daily that bike more, but nah I love my 748! Best thing about a dream bike as first bike! Keep it up Reese, I seen plenty of motovloggers but your channel inspired me to get a camera setup soon. I don't ride much so the times that I do, i'll vlog it!

Dude, when I first cut my hair I felt the same way (I miss throwing my hair into braids) but it’s so cute, you’re rockin it 👌🏽 It’s crazy how much a simple drop can affect your thoughts. I used to be CRUSHED and beyond embarrassed when it would happen to me. It was an ego check that I had to learn so many times but each time was still so upsetting for me. The last time I dropped Renegade was sometime in 2020 and it was due to a broken fairing jammed into my kickstand- that was the first time I wasn’t mad at myself. I was actually super proud that I had no issues picking it back up. It’s all a learning process that’s between you and your bike of choice 🙌🏽

Dear Reece. If the matter at hand is only about dropping your bike, assuming there's no serious injuries as a consequence, make sure you remove your helmet so passersby can see you, LAUGH IT OUT!!! Yes!!! Laugh over yourself, out loud and just keep laughing. On any context, laughter tends to be contagious and in doing so, gives no chance to weak or even twisted surroundings minds to, judge and hence, cause embarrassment, out of a, yes, comic situation!!! No need to further elaborate on this.
Pick up your bike with or without help, if feasible. Keep learning and most importantly: keep RIDING SAFELY!!! That should be your only concern. Cheers!!!

I've had my FZ07 for 3 years now and the first time it happened I only had it for a few months. I was sitting on my bike about to leave work (jobsite had a crushed stone parking lot) My sunglasses slid off my tank onto the ground and I went to grab them thinking nothing of it. Well I leaned just a little too far and felt the bike starting to dip down. 😵 Being on the gravel my foot started to slip out and my bike went down between my legs still idling. I have CRG folding bar end mirrors and luckily it did its job and didn't snap, just scuffed the anodized finish a little. At the moment I was slightly embarrassed as my coworkers were onsite still, but I don't think anyone else saw it happen tbh lol I think of it as glass half full learning experience for all my future rides and allows me to share tips to others. One of the things I love about riding a bike is it is always a learning process. Hopefully one you can walk away from!. Despite over forty years of experience and it having not dropped my bike for many years I still went over recently when coasting down my steep driveway in neutral. I accidently gave the gear leaver a light tap with my foot and despite not having the clutch in the bike slipped in to gear with so much engine braking that the bike went over. Lesson learnt!

Personally I started by learning how to properly lift a bike so when I dropped it I would know how to pick it up, and secondly bought a engine guard so I wouldn't damage anything. Stopped on a gravel driveway and didn't realize there was a low spot right where my foot went down and shwoopsie. No damage, was able to pick it up first try, no biggie. Ordered a new bike, it isn't here yet and I already have front and rear crashbars sitting on my floor because shit happens. Not caring what other people think is a valuable life skill. It doesn't mean have uncontrolled ego or low self esteem. Just be comfortable with who you are and whats good for you.

Love this comment.👏🏻 Before I even started riding, crash protection was the first thing I bought and man I'm so glad I did!! Saved a lot of the bike for sure. I think that's a great approach that I might have to try myself, cause I want to feel confident/be familiar with how to pick it up solo!
And I most definitely agree. When you're comfortable and confident in who you are, it just puts a lot of things people say in a clear perspective. You're definitely able to identify toxicity from truth.

I've dropped my bike a few times. Once because my bike stalled, due to indecision while in a turn. I'd stopped at the stop line on a hill and there were trees blocking my view of the road. I went to turn left and found the road was completely blocked. I was about to transition from turning left to turning right, but it would have put me on the other side of the road. I looked right and there was a truck coming. I didn't know what to do and stalled while leaning, resulting in me dropping the bike.
I wiped out on gravel last year because I was being a dumbass, driving on gravel with road tires. Ended up with a concussion from that one. My plastic is still pretty messed up. I'll likely replace it at some point.
I uhh.. dropped the bike at the dealership parking lot, right in-front of the guy that sold me the bike. It was windy as hell, the bike was way too tall for my skill level and I'm pretty sure I had my handlebars turned a bit. It was a bad habit I picked up at the MSF. I took the course on a bike that I could fully pick up off the ground, so braking with the handlebars turned didn't mean I'd tip over.
I also tipped over in the dark because I put my foot down and the ground was lower than I expected. Lol
I kinda feel like going for a ride right now, with my sprained ankle.
By the way, the trick to picking up your bike when it's on a steep hill is to squat down with your back to the bike, grab your handlebar and passenger rail, then walk backwards with your butt pressed against the seat. If your bike fell on the right side, make sure you put the kickstand down first. However, hills are painful. I stay away from hills.
