The manual helped SOOOO much, definitely saved my butt more than once and it's already helped with other smaller projects along the way, so THANK YOU for sending it my way!!🙌🏻
I was watching SOOOO many videos trying to make sure I wasn't missing anything 😂 and yes! It's from Ride Rich, it's kevlar lined with armor! One of my favorites 🙌🏻
You probably damaged it while sliding the fork seals onto the tube over the sharp edges, or while hammering it in place. You don't need a fork driver although it is easier. Just make sure to tape the sharp edges on the chrome tube as not to cut the fork seal. Then, for the final procedure, just cut your old fork seal and put it on top of the new one. Take a dull plastic or wooden object and hammer it down. Afterwards you can just remove the cut fork seal and all is well. Also, maybe a tip for the future, but if you are planning to change just your fork oil, you can remove the compression adjuster and pump the fluids out. Afterwards, screw it back and fill from the cap. This way, you don't need to remove your forks. The CBR is a great bike, but lol gives a hard time with maintenance, especially with the 09-12 model.
We did use tape when initially sliding the fork seal onto the chrome tube, but I didn't think of cutting the old fork seal in half to use as a buffer when hammering!! Next time around when I replace the left one's seals I'll definitely try that out-I definitely think my error was when we were hammering it into place. I love my 2007, but she's definitely been through hell and back lol. I'm determined to keep her going though. Thanks for the great tips!🙌🏻
My friend actually helped me do the fork maintenance on my bike the first time and I don't think i could've done it without him xD And since he works at a garage i can come around for repair and get a discount :p
Yeah I definitely couldn't have done it myself without help from family, RUclips videos, and my manual😂 it's always great having someone you know help out with it!🙌🏻
Kudos to you for tackling that! I typically lose motivation in the first 15 minutes of a project 😂 when it comes to patience, I could definitely take a page out of your book!
Girl, I was absolutely TESTED during this whole ordeal, especially when I broke the first bolt on the tree clamp💀💀 I can't sit still when the bike is in pieces, it bothers me so much haha. Thanks for watching Lei!🙌🏻
Let's goo!!! I feel you on the discouraged feeling but for me it was my channel lol I had to restart it and I was at 2k but now it's been hard getting back up there lol but anyways I love the video and keep it up!!
My left fork on the CBR600RR has been starting to leak as well. I just got it going again after letting it sit for over a year. So I’m hoping I can just ride it and it’ll get better, but like you said if it starts leaking to the point that it gets on the brakes and rotors.. then I’ll definitely need to remove then and get them serviced.
went thru this some months ago. had my fork seals serviced at a shop, two mos later, weeping. so I ordered the necessary tools, seals and bushings and went at it. after disassembly, I found one of my old lower bushings was damaged and had lightly scored the inner fork tube. so I got some 1000 grit and 1500 grit sp and polished the scoring out. reassembled the forks and 3 months later and many mediocre wheelie landings later, the seals are holding perfectly. the while thing seemed much more intimidating in theory than yhe actual task was.
Feel like I'm right on par with this!! Well worth the knowledge experience-but definitely tedious. A fairly simple task, just takes time!! Practice makes perfect. Thanks for sharing your experience🙌🏻
@@ReeseRides yup.. nicer weather means project season ..I'm ready lol ..watching your rides and projects adds to my motivation to get started on all the things that need done on my bike ..
