The Gom Jabar! I'm so excited for the new dune. I feel like I'm the only person I know who's read it. Nice details on the model. :)

Thanks! Had a lot of fun modeling it. I think the Gom Jabbar is the poison needle not the cube. In this scene, Reverened Mother holds the Gom Jabbar to Paul's neck. There is no name for this cube though...in the text at least! I'm on The Prophet in the first book, and couldn't be more excited for the movie :")

I think it has only ever been referred to as "the pain box", apparently it could be any box, the box is not important, as long as the person taking part cannot see their hand then the ritual can be performed. The whole Bene Gesserit ethos in the books is such a deep yet subtle one, it's premise is that large events can be altered by small events and if you can recognise those hinging moments and take action regardless of outside distractions you become a major player in history, the test of the Gom Jabar is a way of testing the subjects will to stay focused on the bigger picture by ignoring the pain. it's such an elegant ethos.

@@Belidos3D ooh thanks for this detail! That's so cool that it could be any box, adds to the idea that pain is in the mind and the bene gesserit have the power to induce this pain without any particular hardware. It's always interesting to read people's summation of gesserit ethos; indeed a deep yet subtle one
