Awesome, I knew about the plastic piece you could buy but I was pretty sure somebody had an easier fix… Thanks for the video
It is nice you show the "economy " way. How about showing replacing with proper bushing or entire strike bolt assembly
In my experience, thos "economy " way lasts longer than the parts house replacement stickers. Those bushings are more brittle and break on me withing a year. This pex has lasted since I've made this video and barely show signs of wear. And my doors still shut as good as new.
Man, you are definitely the go to square body guy. Once again. THANK YOU!!!!!
Thanks. I am glad to help out
I recently picked up a ‘77 K10 and found your channel. Just wanted to say thanks for sharing the PEX trick! Can’t believe how much better the door shuts for next to no money and a few minutes of time. Hopefully I can pass that trick along to somebody else in the future, and maybe even give them the extra 4’ 10” of leftover PEX I have haha! Thanks man.
Glad to help. Enjoy the squarebody.
I just found your video thank you so much it's exactly what I wS looking for
I didn't know about the PEX trick untill about a year ago, read about it on GM Square Body forum. Truck shuts way better. Too bad I let it go like that for 14 years or so
Best decision you ever made.
Square Bodies are money pits,. Just plane bad engineer over all.
Pure wizardry.
Awesome---just what I needed!!!
Awesome, the pex fix worked for my ‘72 Eldorado……I’ve been swearing at the doors for years….thanks for the 5 minute fix!
Awesome
Awesome. 👍
I just bought a 85 step side other week. It’s in decent shape for the age. Have already used this an few other videos of yours for cheap easy fixes to random stuff like this! Love the content brotha
Awesome
Terrific! Thank you.
You're welcome
Smashingly Beautiful video. I don't know diddly squat about cars. One time I thought the "coolant" light was on because I was having lots of radiator problems until I finally had to replace the radiator. Not a fun job but I did it myself regardless. Got it all fixed and that dang "coolant" light (the little I dream of Jennie lamp light) stayed on constantly. (Worked at a Concrete plant so the mechanics fixed the trucks all the time) - Told the mechanics > "I don't care what you do, just make that light go away because there is *NOTHING* wrong with my radiator. They said "Ok" --- About 10 min later they came and told me > "That's not your coolant light, that's your oil light." I had been driving around for months with that light on. They said go to store immediately after work and get 4 quarts of oil. Fine. I went into the store and couldn't remember if I should get 10w30 or 10w40..... so....obviously, I used math > 2 quarts of 10w30 + 2 quarts of 10w40 = 4 quarts of 10w35.... because again > math. Told the shop guys that and they said "no, start over. oil doesn't work like that." .......... Anyhow, will this method of yours for the door work on a 97' Chevy C1500? Thank you.......
I don't think yours has the plastic bushing or not from the factory. I would guess that new hinge pins would be what yours needs.
Nice!
Thank you for this
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
My wife's car doors have been driving me crazy for years. I will have to do this in secret so that she doesn't see how easy of a fix it was!
Lol
New subscriber!! Thanks!!
Welcome!!
I used and broken course bicycle inner tube or piece of electric PVC tube but that's how it can also be top notch
YEE YEE!
Great Video!
Cheap and easy fix for this common problem
Still working great.
In my opinion Pex is the best. Its cheap and lasts a purdy good while.
This is my first time trying it. So far I like it.
Thanks for posting, does this work on a loose door also. When door is closed I have about 3/8 of loose play. I could pull and push door in and out about 3/8 I was going to loosen the striker and adjust in towards the interior. You think pex would fix without adjusting striker. It looked like in your video your door did that also. Thank you
The pex should help with that. You still might have to do some adjusting .
Ok I'll see if I got some pex laying around tmw, if not I'll try the electrical tape. Thank you for getting back to me
@@SquarebodyStuff electric tape worked, a couple of years slamming the door. Today came cross ur video, 5 minute fix. Thanks
i picked up a new striker bolt for my 84 chevy suburban. when i removed the old bolt the backing nut dropped down into the void... how do i access void to replace nut on new stiker bolt
Pull the trim panel, and I think there is an access panel. Might have to use a magnet to get down in there.
trim panel. is that the plastic cover inside the cab?@@SquarebodyStuff
Yes
I use pvc pipe, and knock it down with a file. It fits tighter and the file takes 5 min. . Just turn/file a few times and bingo.
Im installing new doors on my 68 camaro. Do you suggest installing the striker to factor in with the door alignment?
Yes
Have you any video on how to properly adjust the door?
Closest thing I had for that would be this video. ruclips.net/video/lAXNI-Vkqq4/видео.html
@@SquarebodyStuff by chance do you have any bench seat frame for sale, base only. My back rest is fine.
didn't work for me unfortunately but thank for doing these videos anyhow.
Might need door hing pins
@@SquarebodyStuff I just watched your video on that but my 73 Blazer seems to have no gaps where door meets body. wondering if the latch is the problem since it closes for a minute, then you lean against it and it moves out an inch or so.
💯💪💪💪🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🔧🛠🔧🔥🔥🔥
Would this work for a obs 94 it uses the same striker
It should. Make sure the hinge pins are in good shape too.
@@SquarebodyStuff door pins are bad lol not to bad tho
I'd do them first.
Might be the door pins as well, or even the hinges. The door has some sag to it.
The pins do have some wear on them.
