I love Thorkell, and he was a real dude! I doubt the real one was this lovable though, actually Askeladd is the only fictional main character in the story. Thorfinn and Canute were real people in history.
4:40 Floki always tries to play the "we're friends" card before brutally betraying someone. So you know what, good on Thorkell for ignoring it. Also sick shirt
It's so good when an anime hooks you and you can binge it and enjoy it. Those are the best anime it seems you are hooked on vinland saga now and enjoy making these reactions to it
For how detailed the character models are in this show, it's crazy how good the animation looks on top of that. Some adaptations have to simplify the artstyle a bit to animation so fluidly. Vinland Saga's art is different from the manga in some ways but I'm just amazed how detailed the characters look (Seriously though, if you haven't seen the manga art it is gorgeous. Makoto Yukimura is one of those authors that has great writing and artwork to boot)
Its really nice to see that Alana actually got good grasp of the themes even tho is her first time watching. It just makes it more enjoyable for her and for us viewers. Excited to see her reactions as the series progresses and we get more deep into its themes.
It's always nice to see someone watch vinland saga and they get it. Idk makes me feel less alone for how invested I got in it lol. I was so happy to learn the direction the story would take in S2, just feels so natural to the themes that showed up early
What I loved about this episode is that his father's lesson finally started to sink in. "What's so great about battle?" Is Thorfinn waking up and realizing that fighting is some ol' bullshit.
I really love Thorkell. No one really understands his purpose but in reality he is suppose to be the embodiment of traditional Vikings of wanting to fight and represents the mass majority's opinion of Vikings spirit. He is important to Vinland Saga because traditionally most shows glorify Vikings/War but Vinland Saga doesn't. Thorkell expresses that when majority of main characters suffer from the violence.
I PERSONALLY THINK Askeladd gave Thorfinn the choice to leave so many times and always leave him behind in hopes that Thorfinn gives up and leaves the fights/battles.
Askeladd isn't actually believed in Thorfinn to kill Thorkell. It was more like let's see if he could, if he could then it's great, if he couldn't the he'd died, who cares hahaha
No, I don't think Askeladd thought that Thorfinn could win but he had nothing to lose if he tried... because that's how little he cares about Thorfinn. Thorkell is most likely the greatest Norse fighter of his time.
I heard this show good but never found the right moment to watch it, but anyways you should check up on the Quintessential Quintuplet , such a good show
that last shot of thorfinn is one of my favs in the series ngl 🥲 so dang good
the face of disgust
Yeah, the intensity it carries is palpable
you're gonna love season 2 then
Extremely underrated shot

yea it's really cool
Thors was also fictional..right?
@@itzmehDevi Correct, he is an amalgam of 'heores' of the nordic sagas.
@@livaneyuribe3700 Got it :D
@@livaneyuribe3700 by the way..I just learned a new word: amalgam thanks to ur comment
I just know you're gonna love the second season

Love your reaction ! It was cool to see Thorfinn fight against Thorkell
Thorkell and Dimple having the same VA will always make me snicker.
His VA is stupid talented. I remember seeing a list of roles he's been in and it's wild
Isn't he Blackbeard also?
@@talesofapre-sequel5647 Probably, he's in a LOT of stuff.

@@irecordwithaphone1856 yeah i feel just like canute at that one scene in s2 final if u know what i am talking about
agreed. The name of the show is Vinland Saga, and for good reasons.
thorkell is just the antithesis of everything vinland saga is about but he is just such a good and fun charchter that it doesnt even matter
Damn, that's a nice t shirt
thorkell is freakin crazy 🤣 i kinda like how silly he is about everything

You should definitely react to the angel next door spoils me rotten, its so wholesome and heart warming.
I’ve started watching Alana because of her reactions and she’s cute 😭 About to binge watch everything here
same here buddy hahaha

He's truly meant to be the perfect fit for the world of violence.

Thorkell is probably the best character in Vinland saga for me, his up there with Thorfinn and Canute and Askelad in terms of good character writing.
夏油のTシャツめっちゃイイ ^^
Where’d you get that t-shirt from it looks dope😭😭
Alana could I just ask where you got the shirt from? It's such a cool shirt
