The other pro I would say with the Style and Luxe is the ability to swap out the straps, they are quick release so if you fancy a leather strap or steel bracelet with it its pretty easy to find 3rd party alternatives. Any 20mm quick release strap will work with it. Ive got about 4 straps that I wear with it, 1 for dress up, 2 leather and 1 silicone for working out.
Problems after 3 months use (in my opinion) - connected GPS problem: after session end I found GPS works only first hundred metre. - Garmin claimed 5 days battery but In reality, if you always use Garmin pay or PulseOX. You need to recharge it every 2 days - touch sensitivity issue - weak vibrate (can't wake me up sometimes) - display is quite hard to read outdoor
I've only had mine for a few days but already I like it a lot more than my previous Fit Bit. The app is much more usable, apps on the watch seem to work as expected and I love the fact that I can move them around with ease. So far, it suits me fine.
I'm looking to buy one, would you recommend it still? I don't know much about garmin so I don't know if I should buy a 2 year old hybrid watch in 2022. I know there is the sport version, but I was inclined to the size of the style.
Got this watch today. First impression, well it is damn awesome, I really like that this thing has music controls, it really makes my life a lot easier at the work. Looks and feels good, and only minus I'd personally give at this point, is that the hands don't glow at the dark.
I'm thinking about buying it for my father next month, specially for the blood OX and HR monitor, and I know a "smarter" whatch won't go with him, he is over 70 so... you do recommend it as a gift?
@@alejandromadde9404 Yes, this is pretty easy watch to get the hang off, I'd say even older people are able to use this with ease. Battery life is also really good, lasts 4 days my use easily, with less music listening, it could do 5 days without charging.
Great video, thanks! I have the original Vivomove and I love it, with only one (big) con. It's very unfortunate that Garmin didn't solve the "no hands in the dark" problem. This new version is even worse, because in the original one, you could, at least, see the minutes hand because it's painted yellow, but not the hours hand. Maybe it's not so problematic because when you turn your wrist to see the hours, the (small) Led screen turns on and shows what time is it. But I would prefer to see both hands.
I just wanted to say thank you for this video. I watched it months ago and it helped me decide on which smartwatch was for me. I chose the vivo move style and have been loving it since February 2022!

@Torr-Net yeah, I actually bought it. I’ve used it for only a couple of days. I love it, but yeah..it has its quirks to work around. I don’t wanna bash it to harshly because for my use cases like wanting a watch that has add-on features it’s great, that said the interface is a bit finicky at times. It’s not as finicky as some people on the internet sold me it out to be tho. I would totally buy a second generation of this watch in a heart beat, but as it’s stands I would only recommend it to some and not all who are looking for a hybrid watch. Probably keep looking for another watch like fossils hybrid or if your into full on smart watches, I hear that to anyone interested in that they should wait till wear os 3 comes out. Maybe my opinion can change either way as I keep using it, but for now I really like it and I haven’t found anything that atrocious that’s making me send it back.
I know this is a really old review but thanks man! Im new to smart watches ive literally been thinking about getting one for YEARS but then i cant decide which one to get etc and end up putting it off again. This was really helpful and i think im decided on this watch. Im having my 2nd baby in November so the gym will be out the question for a while so i think having something like this to track home workouts and out and about exercising as opposed to the machines in the gym which do it all for you will be a big plus. Cheers from sunny England 🇬🇧
I got the luxe. Looks better but at a higher cost of course. Love mine but charge every 3 days as not good letting your battery get to low. Not good for your battery. Think the Oxy sensor uses more battery and leave it on. Great for extra sleep data. Sleep tracking can be hit or miss but better than the older garmin watches.
Just got a withings scanwatch 2 a few days ago. Will probably resell it and get a vivomove sport or style instead. Love the scanwatch design and health tracking, but the lack of viewing previous notifications and no music control were enough of a drawback that I won’t keep it long term. Also tried out the fossil gen 6 machine, but it is just too bulky for my taste
@@holaminobrees20 Garmin's experience in sport seems to pay off here. I can't talk so much about running, but even the previous model is amazing in measuring stairs. I am quite glad that I found this review. It validated my experience with this watch. I own a Fenix 6 and purchased the Vivomove Luxe. I find the vivomove to be much easier to wear. For day to day stuff, I don’t miss the GPS or the onboard music in the Fenix.
I got the Vivomove luxe as well, and have found it to be a very good experience. A smart looking watch with smarts. My only gripes with it is the double tapping is a bit hit and miss, and I dont think the sleep tracking is very accurate. But apart from that its great. Thanks for the review! I was wondering, as far as fitness activity is concerned, can you select different types of workouts (Cardio, weights, yoga, kickboxing, for example) and get a summary of the results of this specific workout? I currently have a Fitbit Inspire hr which just died on me. Liked it so far, but very basic and doesn't look good like this one! I use my watch mainly to track exercises, hr and sleep.
Hey Mike do you think this is more accurate for sleep tracking and fitness than the galaxy active two? I like the idea of body battery more because it takes almost everything into account. Which is what I got the active two for. What do you think?
Thanks for the review. I just got this watch and can't understand for the life of me why there isn't a "yes" in the text quick replies... Especially when there is a "no" option. This is a major oversight 😂 and on this version of the watch you can't even edit the responses. For $300 dollars no thanks. Deal breaker sending the watch back.
Thank you so much for this video. Really useful, clear and comprehensive overview of the pros and cons. I've just bought the Vivomove 3S. I was wondering if you or anyone reading these comments could answer my question... when I access the widgets or menu, I'm finding it difficult to get back to what Garmin calls the Glance screen, which is basically the home screen. Is there a way to do this manually via tapping, or do you simply have to wait until the widgets or the menu time out? Thank you!!!
I really like this watch, I love the classic looking design with the hidden amoled screen but I like my Garmin Fenix 6X sapphire too much to wear this on a regular basis.
What would you say are the major differences between the Garmin Vivomove style and Vivomove HR? I currently have the HR but am interested in upgrading, is it worth the extra cost?
Hey! Just wondering if after a year later you would still purchase the vivomove style? I'm really interested in a hybrid watch, but I'm just concerned about the longevity of the software as I don't want to spend a lot of money and then not have it work in a year.
same question here but after 2 years in the market😅. I really like the design and the way they when around it. Ik the sport released a couple of months back this year but I prefer the metal and the 42mm size of the style.
I have the watch since yesterday and one thing is bugging me: *I currently have no option to use quick replies!* No possibility to set them up in the Connect App, though I looked through all options. I use an Android 10 phone, App & Watch are both updated - maybe it's because I live in Germany ... To anyone with or without the issue: Which software version does your watch run? Thx
I just received this as a gift which is amazing, but I'm still trying to figure out how to consistently wake this watch with the double tap. Any suggestions would be super helpful! 😂
Probably too late to be useful for you but maybe for others. I found tapping the exact middle of watch is fairly reliable. Everywhere else had like a 30% success rate while the middle where the hands connect is like 95%
Dear Mike, I have a few questions. What is the visibility of the screen under sunlight? Can we install more exercises in this device? Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you!
The visibility under sunlight is okay on the black ones, if you get some of the lighter ones (silver) then I've heard people say you can't basically see anything which sounds about right.
Hi @MikeOBrienMedia, thank you for your good review. I see that your review is already 3 years old, but I am actually considering buying it now. I would like to hear if it is still a good option or if you have another good device of this kind to recommend now? I really like the integration of a fitness device into a look-good watch. Cheers!
Nice job. I can't seem to like the watch aspect of it. It has dark colored hands against a very dark display. Some of the other Vivomoves I've seen online have similar legibility issues.
yo mike, i watched this video and bought myself a vivomove style and i also bought one for my wife after a few months. now my watch is having charging problem. thing is, can you review vivomove trend? i watched other reviews but honestly would prefer your version of the review. thanks regardless, this watch served me well for the past 2.5 years. i would not bought this if i didnt see this video
Hi, nice video. But I bought this watch and I cannot change the settings about my personal weight and height. Desinstalled the App, nothing changed. Read the 20 pages leaflet from Garmin, no mention.. Living in Europe pounds and inches are very confusing. I also cannot have any data’s from the oxymeter. And sorry, the watch is heavy and scrubs the skin. ( I haven’t neither tattoos nor thick hairs on my wrist 😉). Would you have any suggestion?
How’s the sleep/recovery feature compared to whoop 4.0? And how about form comparing to whoop 4.0 again? Is it unobtrusive & comfortable enough to wear while sleeping?
Excellent review, thank you! And actually a bunch of the things you listed as cons are pros for my intended use cases, so this is looking like an incredible pick to me
Mike, you've mentioned a few times that the Luxe contains in-built GPS but all the documentation I could find on Garmin indicates that it has connected GPS only. I'm not sure but am I missing something, or did they change the spec of the watch?
Thanks a lot for the 3 videos you made on this watch ! I think the only ones that are truly helpful. What are the missing data/functionalities in the app compared to the Vivoactive and other "real" smartwatches ?
I'm trying to figure out which smartwatch to purchase. Mainly to separate myself from the phone. I'm a heath care provider and checking texts is not always possible on my phone. Your content is helpful. I'm also trying to find a MRI safe device. I am in medical imaging and days where I do MRIs I have to leave my devices off/home.
Mike, your reviews led me to buy the Vivomove Style which I absolutely love. Could you maybe do a review or suggestion video on a screen protector for it? It has Gorilla Glass 3, which is not completely scratch resistant. Any advise would be helpful.
Jesse D Amazfit = Incorrect steps, heart rate, no stress measuring, body battery, no external sensors support, not good ecosystem as Garmin and so on...
I have received my Vívomove 3 style few weeks ago and everything seems fine apart from the distance of the Bluetooth connection to my phone. As soon as I get more than just a few feet away from my phone the watch disconnects! Is there a way to increase the distance of the connection? On my mobile I've got 4.2 Bluetooth version. I can't find what type of Bluetooth have these watches.
Is the screen bright enough to be read in daylight in outdoors plus does it support navigation from Google maps. If not can you suggest whether to go for galaxy active 2 or fossil gen 5 as mostly I need a good looking watch with quick reply feature and navigation feature with basic fitness tracking. Kindly comment. Big fan of your watch reviews
I'm surprised you're so enthusiastic about this watch, I just bought one and coming from a Kronaby and a Vivoactive this thing is so flawed: OLED screen unreadable outside, even the hands are difficult see under the highly reflective and often smudgy glass. Strength training is completely unusable because you can't upload workouts which means that it's really bad at recognising the exercise and rep counting and editing is a joke on the touchscreen. Garmin pay has a stupid pin entry using a slider and embarrassingly it's probably quicker to write a cheque in the queue than use this so I'll never use that again. So much promise but so badly flawed.
Hi Mike, i ride a bike a lot, and I am wondering if I can use this watch to track my speed and location? I am curious if the data can be uploaded directly to Strava.
I currently have a fossil hybrid Carlie watch. I am looking into this watch or new fossil hybrid. Do you have comparison between two or which you think I’d prefer. I work out 3-5 days a week. Care about sleep analysis and steps. Also care about appearance.
Great review. I am still "stuck" on it. I have an Apple Watch 5 and saw the Vivomove Style which I immediately liked BUT is it worth getting rid of my AW5 and move this way? I use my watch for gym tracking were I do weights, treadmill running and stationary bike cycling. I will start swimming around March 2020. Thoughts? Views? Hit me up!!
Hmm... I think this watch looks better and is more unique than the AW5, but the AW5 undoubtedly has more horsepower and can track fitness at a higher level than the vivomove Style is capable of. I would say only switch to the vivomove Style if you care most about the style/aesthetic, battery, and weight
Why does no one show the music controls or incoming notification or calls screens on this watch lol I have the vivomove HR but want to upgrade to this one ( I did have the Huawei GT2 but I love how the vivomove is hybrid) do WhatsApp and Snapchat notifications show on the vivomove style?
Sorry, did you finally bought it? I also have HR and I am considering buying this… but trying to find what works and what not. I suppose the cable is different, as it seems, but I wonder what else. The incoming notifications and call screens are sure some of the things that are good to know, for us upgraders!
@@SuperorTube a lot less like 2 days and the hands kept sticking so the watch had to be re-calibrated constantly and the screen wasn't good quality. Get the GT2 pro it's much better I was gutted as I loved my Vivomove HR but the Style and Luxe are deffo not an upgrade sadly
Great feedback, I just had a Withings Scanwatch for 2 weeks and sent it back because the screen is way to reflective and I was wondering how you finding this one?
So you still need 3 touches to see the time in dark instead of 0 or 1. Fidgeting with your watch during a meeting is just as awkward as doing it on your phone.
When the watch are connected to a PC via USB (Garmin Express app) the "synch" function (update watch when you have changed settings) doesen't always work properly. I usually have to do it a couple of times before successful. Somewhat annoying, but setting changes are probably something you only do a few times...
Thank you so much for your review! I’ve really enjoyed it. Have you tried the Vivamove Hr? I am thinking of buying it and I’d appreciate to hear your view on it.
Did you test readability in daylight at all? That was my biggest problem with the old Vivomove HR. In normal daylight conditions you could not read the screen at all.
Thank You very much for this useful review. I am considering buying it...however I am not sure if it has enough fitness and activity content. Could You please something more about the activity "board"?
The Garmin app is extremely extensive with its in-depth fitness focus. While the watch may be a bit Spartan in its look of fitness tracking, The processing done on the phone with the information from the watch is truly something to behold
Does quick reply work with Facebook messenger? I just got the watch and it works on sms and discord but not messenger. Am i doing something wrong or is it not able to do it?
Someone owning the watches 2 or more years already? Mine Vivomove HR premium (previous model) were great but after 2.5years (and warranty expiration) the OLED display turned darker and darker and invisible in the end. This seems to be case of many/most of the owners on Garmin forum. Is it better with the new model?
I'm in the market for my first watch and I'm stuck between the and the galaxy active 2. Two completely different kind of watches I know, i mostly would use it for seeing what my notifications are, not care to answer calls on it and I like the battery body but do like that I can use Bixby to respond to text on the active. Just wondering what you would reccomend
Thanks for your in depth review, I already bought the watch but only recently so it is great to see and hear someone else's take on the watch :) very helpful
I was on the fence about this watch for a while, not because I am an Apple Sheep lol because of the look and a particular style. My biggest concern is will it help me through my day. I looked and looked on youtube for this what you presented. Sir, great video, and I plan to get this for my birthday instead of upgrading my Apple and spending over 200.00. Is there a way to do this manually via tapping, or do you simply have to wait until the widgets or the menu time out? Thank you!!!
What’s your wrist size I’m trying to figure out if it would be too big for me
Would you recommend this watch going in to 2022 or should you go for a newer watch?
Anyone know if they fixed the music issue, music is a big part of why I'm interested.
same! been waiting to see if there was a patch and then Ill spend my money!
GREAT FEEDBACK with Pros and cons, ALL your vids have always been very informative including your financial ones, Thanks Mike
I really like this watch, I love the classic looking design with the hidden amoled screen but I like my Garmin Fenix 6X sapphire too much to wear this on a regular basis.
Yes, the Fenix series is quite impressive! Garmin has been making some incredible products lately
Thank you; are you having any success with the O2 sat feature? I'm not.
What would you say are the major differences between the Garmin Vivomove style and Vivomove HR? I currently have the HR but am interested in upgrading, is it worth the extra cost?
Hybrid watch seems to be the future than smartwatch as they are not bulky-phony looking ...they look like normal classic watch...
I have the watch since yesterday and one thing is bugging me:
*I currently have no option to use quick replies!*
No possibility to set them up in the Connect App, though I looked through all options.
I use an Android 10 phone, App & Watch are both updated - maybe it's because I live in Germany ...
To anyone with or without the issue: Which software version does your watch run? Thx
problem gelöst?
Do you think it makes sense to buy this watch now?
After more than 4 years after their initial release?
Best tech review channel I have found
I just received this as a gift which is amazing, but I'm still trying to figure out how to consistently wake this watch with the double tap. Any suggestions would be super helpful! 😂
Probably too late to be useful for you but maybe for others. I found tapping the exact middle of watch is fairly reliable. Everywhere else had like a 30% success rate while the middle where the hands connect is like 95%
I bought a watch active 2 thanks to your reviews
Watch Active 2 is a great one! Definitely my favorite for fitness tracking, among many other things 👌
This was so helpful, thanks!!!
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching!!
I have watched a few of your reviews now. Really appreciate your talent for communicating everything needed so clearly.
Had one question about this watch, cant it show notifications from apps like Instagram and Snapchat ?
I also want to know that and I couldnt find any information on other videos.
Great video, I'm looking into buying one of these Hybrid Smartwatches.
Awesome review Mike! I hope garmin have watched this and took some notes for the next Vivomove luxe/style. Cheers!
And actually a bunch of the things you listed as cons are pros for my intended use cases, so this is looking like an incredible pick to me
Can the alarm widget detect your sleep pattern and pick the best alarm time to wake you up in light sleep?
Mike, you've mentioned a few times that the Luxe contains in-built GPS but all the documentation I could find on Garmin indicates that it has connected GPS only. I'm not sure but am I missing something, or did they change the spec of the watch?
Yes, please clarify mike. Thank you in advance
What about notifications like instagram, facebook and call answering
Thanks a lot for the 3 videos you made on this watch ! I think the only ones that are truly helpful.
What are the missing data/functionalities in the app compared to the Vivoactive and other "real" smartwatches ?
Thanks for the video and all the informations.
After Fitbit now is owned by Google, this will, most probably, my next tracker.
I advise you to ask for advice
I love the idea of this watch, but half a week battery life just isn't good enough when you have watches like the Amazfit Bip that last a month.
Jesse D Do you really compare this with Amazfit Bip ? Come on...
@@_samurai_744 yes
Jesse D Amazfit = Incorrect steps, heart rate, no stress measuring, body battery, no external sensors support, not good ecosystem as Garmin and so on...
@@_samurai_744 none of that is related to battery life.
@@jessed1709 Why would you want to use a fitness watch that doesn't track your fitness even if it lasts a month? You should buy a Seiko.
Hi Mike, are you able to do a quick video or tell me how the notification works with incoming calls and messages? thank you.
I have no problems i have 5.0 Bluetooth
After wearing the Fossil HR and the Garmin hybrid for a month...which do you like better?
I am really stuck between the Garmin Vivomove 3s and Withings Steel HR have you looked at a Withings?
Thanks for the review! I wonder if you can disable wifi and bluetooth to conserve the battery?
Which watch do you suggest in this category?
@@MikeOBrienMedia Thank you, love your channel by the way.
Hello, great video. Does this watch have an option "always on" hidden display? Thanks
@@SuperorTube I sent it back the battery life was awful I now have Huawei Gt2 pro and love it
@@keving-gq4ov you mean, it was less than HR's?
@@SuperorTube a lot less like 2 days and the hands kept sticking so the watch had to be re-calibrated constantly and the screen wasn't good quality. Get the GT2 pro it's much better I was gutted as I loved my Vivomove HR but the Style and Luxe are deffo not an upgrade sadly
Great feedback, I just had a Withings Scanwatch for 2 weeks and sent it back because the screen is way to reflective and I was wondering how you finding this one?
I'm not sure if I wanna get this or the Fitbit Versa 2. I know they are two different watches. But what one would you recommend? 😊
I like this much better primarily for aesthetic reasons
@@MikeOBrienMedia is it worth it just for the aesthetic?
Have you done any reviews/comparisons to the Withings line of hybrid smartwatches?
Lol took me half a second to know you were Nates brother ohmygosh
Did you test readability in daylight at all? That was my biggest problem with the old Vivomove HR. In normal daylight conditions you could not read the screen at all.
Thank You very much for this useful review. I am considering buying it...however I am not sure if it has enough fitness and activity content. Could You please something more about the activity "board"?
The Garmin app is extremely extensive with its in-depth fitness focus. While the watch may be a bit Spartan in its look of fitness tracking, The processing done on the phone with the information from the watch is truly something to behold
@@blaster915 Thank You!
@@magdanemcova2638 no problem :)
Just wondering if there's a setting for amoled screen to remain on in the background?
can you quick reply on the watch when it is connected to an iPhone? or is it only compatible with android devices?
Does quick reply work with Facebook messenger?
I just got the watch and it works on sms and discord but not messenger. Am i doing something wrong or is it not able to do it?
Compared to Withings HR steel?
Do the straps stinks when its always wet?
Someone owning the watches 2 or more years already? Mine Vivomove HR premium (previous model) were great but after 2.5years (and warranty expiration) the OLED display turned darker and darker and invisible in the end. This seems to be case of many/most of the owners on Garmin forum. Is it better with the new model?
Great content, amigo. Cheers!
How does this do connecting to iPhones? Any difference with the text or call replies?
I'm in the market for my first watch and I'm stuck between the and the galaxy active 2. Two completely different kind of watches I know, i mostly would use it for seeing what my notifications are, not care to answer calls on it and I like the battery body but do like that I can use Bixby to respond to text on the active. Just wondering what you would reccomend
Thanks for your in depth review, I already bought the watch but only recently so it is great to see and hear someone else's take on the watch :) very helpful
I have had this watch now for 10 weeks and the touch screen has just stopped working any ideas why? Or how to sort this?
Great video. Is it possible to adjust the colors for the amoled display?
I found, that for the amoled display it can be chosen out of 10 different colors.
Thank you. I have now made up my mind. 👍🏼💙
Loved the video, very detailed review! Just had a question in mind, is the watch frequently susceptible to minor scratches on the screen?
Kk Xie the luxe has a sapphire screen if you’re worried about scratches. I have the gorilla glass version and haven’t had any scratching yet
Hey mike, does the quick reply works with ios?
I would like to know as well
Great video man!
I can save lots of money and look cool at the same time
Do we get a notification on receiving a call?
