Fun fact. Chrystle never wanted to act in the movie. She only went to the audition hoping to give Ice Cube her demo and became a rapper. She actually read for Diamond, but was given Ronnie. She did good for her first role. Played it so well I never liked her in real life until recently.

The Players Club was one of those movies I had to sneak and watch because my mama didn’t allow me to watch movies like that growing up lol. When I did watched this movie I didn’t even think about it that deep the way you explaining now. I was just like this movie about girls stripping to pay for school. Now that I’m grown I look at this movie so different now. Chile so many problematic issues all up and through the movie. The guys were creeps especially ice cube’s character I couldn’t stand him lol and Ronnie was a female predator trying groom those girls. And you was so spot on about the sex trafficking that was going on. Man it’s so crazy how we didn’t catch on to any of that stuff back then. So glad you did this review. 10 dollars for a dance in the 90s was and still it alot of money. Also its 10 dollars a song and clubs usually only play 1-2 min of a song. 10 songs an hour is over $100 dollars and hour plus tips.
The guy that played the Junior character looks just like Steebie J. I know it’s just a role/he’s an actor, but I never liked that guy since Set It Off. This movie just fueled more fire.

Diamond set Eboni up for failure by getting her a job at The Players Club knowing how toxic it was & that Ronnie assaulted her. Prior to this movie Lisa Raye was in Makaveli’s Toss It Up video & Martin. Diamond’s mom played by Judy Ann Elder was Gina’s mom on Martin & the second Harriet on Family Matters, Dick Anthony Williams (Pretty Tony) was also in the movie Sister Sister with Maya Angelou, Rosalind Cash & Irene Cara, Myron played by Jimmy Woodard was in Hollywood Shuffle, he was also one of the Midnight Falcons in The Five Heartbeats & he was one of the blind rappers in House Party 3, the bad guy from Who’s The Man was played by Badja Djola. He was Half Dead in Penitentiary, he was also in A Rage In Harlem, Mississippi Burning & The Last Boy Scout. Diamond’s professor was played by Ron Riser (Stanley from Friday). Prior to this movie Monica Calhoun was in The Jacksons An American Dream, A Different World & Sister Act 2. St. Louis played by Larry McCoy was in Malcolm X & Dead Presidents. Samuel Monroe Jr. is the eternal typecast. If you look up the word typecast in the dictionary you’ll see his picture. I would love to see this movie get coverted into a series like The Best Man Final Chapters. I would love to see if Diamond had a successful career in journalism, What Eboni did her life after returning home, did Ronnie & Trix run Sugar Daddy’s like they did The Players Club, Did Diamond & Blue persue their relationship, did Junior get out of prison, did Reggie, Clyde & KC take over St. Louis’ business & i would love to see a backstory on Ronnie & Junior’s upbringing. Lisa Raye & Monica Calhoun were also in Civil Brand & Gang of Roses.

Watching the playback, on how cheap dances were, dances still are cheap like that on the floor. You make your money from them throwing tips on you or private room dances. The cost of table/section dances really just be covering tip out. That’s why you have to kind of learn how to spot who’s spending money or get you a regular.
