@@yme_7185 Well the gang had been on the decline since the Blackwater Massacre but Dutch's big character change killed the gang in the end. His brain injury during the tram station robbery and the death of Hosea are the two obvious catalysts that certainly sped up Dutch's descent, but earlier in the story Arthur and Hosea discuss that Dutch had been gradually becoming worse for a long time.
TAS the SPAS I believe Dutch was a good man from chapters 1-4, so much stuff that justifies his change of character, the brain injury, Hosea dying, losing all the money in the heist, being stranded on an island, getting attacked minutes after they return to camp, and most importantly, having that persuasive rat in his ear. That was Dutch’s decline, but when he shot micah, that was the last goodness in him, I feel like shooting Micah and leaving the money wasn’t for him, or John or Hosea, but for Arthur. Him shooting Micah was an apology to Arthur for not listening to him. Also, the gangs true decline was after the heist because, people lost faith in each other when they went to the camp in the swamps and beaver hollow, sure it was bad in black water, and Valentine, and Rhodes and Saint Denis; but they all still believed in each other.

I love how even Bill, the biggest idiot in the camp and arguably the second biggest asshole, doesn't waste a second on whether or not to go and rescue Jack. It really solidifies to me just how much of a family the gang was and makes the tragedy of its downfall that much harder to swallow.
he's angry and hot headed, but he knows who his family is, and he'll anything for them, which usually involves murder well at least until red dead 1 happens
Yusuf Pırıldar I think he just began to dislike John because unlike Bill, John was raised by Dutch who saw him as a son like Arthur, John had that privilege but when he started doubting and talking back at Dutch, it’s like biting the hand that fed you. Bill was just hurt that somebody like John became "disloyal" to the gang's father figure.
This mission really is something else. The blindsiding shock of learning Jack has been kidnapped, the pounding drums on the ride over as Hosea informs you all your efforts in Rhodes have been for naught, the shift in the music as the Braithwaite estate comes into view on the final turn... is there a more sinister location in the game? That gallop past trees that have grown up alongside generations of evil, the way the moonlight splinters through their branches, the final approach towards the candlelit heart of darkness that is the manor itself... the walk up serving as a visual representation of this mission as the only time in the game we see the entire gang acting with complete synergy in pursuit of a common goal. Dutch’s exchange, the standoff, a dynamic gunfight, the brilliant cutscenes with Catherine Braithwaite, and Hosea burning down the house with, “I guess that’s the end of the god damn cribbage game.” But that final shot of Catherine running back into the house as she weeps for the destruction of all her family has stood for, coupled with the fade to black as the vocalist hits a final exiting solo emblematic of the exorcism of a once persistent evil... that final bit of presentation is what really drives this mission over the top. It is, without a doubt in my mind, the best I have ever played in any of Rockstar’s games.

I've played this mission a few days ago, but I keep coming back to this video. What a mission! The atmosphere, the voice acting, the music, the everything. Besides getting drunk with Ynnel, this is one of my favorite missions in the game.
Jack isn't even an essential part of the gang in a way, but Dutch still calls up all the men like the goddamn cavalry to go save a boy and also burn down a manor in the process, epitomy of badass
That's because at this point in the story the gang didn't see themselves as a "gang". They were a family. Jack was their child. They all legitimately loved him.
Really contrasts before and after Guarma. Dutch was willing to send almost every fighting man over there to rescue the one boy. Then, when Marston got thrown into prison and was threatened with hanging, he was going to leave him. He claims otherwise, but he slips up and shouts to Marston in a random dialogue event that this is why he told them to let him rot in prison.
I like how this is one of the few times we see Hosea actually shoot-showing that while he is indeed more of a scammer than a shootist, his abilities are not to be messed with.
You can go back to the Braithwaite Manor after entering Saint Denis and you will find Mrs. Braithwaite in the entrance of the mansion, burnt. You can loot her (without honor penalty) and she will have an item worth $20.00.
You can also find a gold trophy in the manor during the mission. It's a unique item that can't be obtained after if it's missed. But don't worry if you didn't find it. It has no real purpose other than being able to view it. It can't even be sold. As someone else mentioned, after the manor is burnt, if you return you can find a box with a gold bar in it under the floor board. There's also a shack near the territory of the manor that has an old newspaper clipping of a Most Wanted fugitive some years ago. Getting ahold of this clipping actually triggers an additional unlockable bounty hunter mission.
This is my most favorite mission from the whole game. I was shaking like a fresh autumn leaf when Dutch and the guys walked up to the plantation house. I also loved how the camera goes to Dutch since he was the leader and he was obviously in the middle. Magnificently created video game. Should've won game of the year.

I just love how at 5:14 Dutch doesn't even seem phased that are flying bullets going towards him instead of running to cover he slowly walks there and shoots honestly kinda badass
Paulo Peregrina U. In chapter 2 after you help Micah escape he has wanted posters for Dutch and Hosea in his tent and in chapter 3 he tried setting up the gang and betraying them to the odriscolls so I won’t be surprised he was cooperating with the authorities before the cuba trip. In the Saint Denis bank heist he was wearing all white, normally undercover informants have to wear something so the police can tell them apart
The way that Dutch just draws his guns and strafe shooting with style and without a care in world is certainly one of his most badass scenes in the game in my opinion.
lol i think i speak on behalf of everyone watching this that this was easily everyones favourite mission in the game when they reached this point. Probably still the best mission in the entire game. Truly cinematic in every aspect - gameplay, voice acting, music, atmosphere, gunfight....everything A+
I had goose bumps as i was riding to the house. I was also laughing at myself because i was giddy and thought this was just so dam cool. One of the very best missions i have ever played. That music when you ride to the house is amazing. Job well done Rockstar!!
The part when they are walking up to the mansion is an amazing shot but the bit around 1:10 when you see the convoy of horses formed and moving out and those slow paced war drums coming in with Dutch saying “let’s go get that boy back” has such understated power to it. It changes the atmosphere of the whole mission and you just know that something is going down.
One of the best missions and is only cemented because you're riding with the true members of the gang excluding Sean and Kieran. The rat is left behind at camp too
You want to know one of the best details? Each side of the seven gang members other than Arthur as they walk up corresponds with the honor meter. Lenny, Charles, Hosea, and John are on the right, while Dutch, Javier, and Bill are on the left. It’s one of the smallest, smartest, and most subtle details in this game, and I absolutely love it.
John going full papa bear here was one of my favorite moments from him in this game. He really did step up being a good dad after this mission and it shows in the first Red Dead after you get Beecher's Hope back.
Catherine Braithwaite reminds me of Katherine Marlowe, the main antagonist of Uncharted 3. - Both were old women who led an organization. - Both were major antagonists of their respective games. - Both kidnapped someone important to the protagonist. Marlowe kidnapped Victor Sullivan and Braithwaite kidnapped Jack Marston. - Both of them died a slow and painful death. Marlowe was sucked by a sinkhole. And Braithwaite burned to death.
Unpopular opinion. The epic soundtrack masks what is actually the lowest point yet for the entire gang. Sean was killed and Jack kidnapped. Outsmarted by both the Grays and Braithwaites with no money or gold to show for it. Answering the only way they know how to: with exteme violence, wiping out two familes almost completely in the process. Dutch trying to soothe his bruised ego by making the others believe they could still come out on top.
Fun fact: If you go back to the burnt remains of the manor later on, you’ll find Catherine Braithwaite’s burnt corpse, and if you loot it, you’ll get Catherine’s Brooch. And if you search the ruins a little bit, you’ll find a small lockbox underneath where the floor used to be, and it’ll have a gold bar in it. So I guess there was gold after all
I finished this mission last night and it was absolutely amazing. I knew that once the whole gang joined, some shit was about to go down. The atmosphere is everything and the missions prior to this really helped build my anger towards the Braithwaites and all of Rhodes. At this point I felt that it wasn’t just about rescuing Jack, but putting an end to the feud between the Grays and the Braithwaites which lead to Sean getting killed.
Chapter 3 Dutch: has the whole gang get in a brutal shootout with the Braithwaites to get Jack back Chapter 6 Dutch: refuses to help John escape from prison.
Man, almost the entire gang rides out at the beginning is one of my favorite moments in the whole game. It's like oh boy, somebody just fucked up real bad.
I love how at 0:55 it’s literally just Dutch, Arthur, Hosea, and John going at first, Dutch gets offered help and says “why not?” I respected him so much right here, but it all went downhill after this

xXSilentAgent47Xx are talking about where it was Arthur, Hosea, and bill? If so, that one was more badass bro. I agree
They changed it maybe.
You can use cinematic mode that is pretty close
the dual wielding of dutch is badass
10:27 is the exact moment I liked Dutch - I love how the game makes you care for the characters!
The one time that EVERYONE respected Dutch's plan...
10:54 Arthur.exe has stopped working
You can see Arthur covers look because of Dutch's ruthless dragging Braithwaith Woman. Great detail. But Arthur.exe lol
Rockstar have made a lot of great missions but this is the best one
This mission is pure gold. 👌
Definitely
I just love how at 5:14 Dutch doesn't even seem phased that are flying bullets going towards him instead of running to cover he slowly walks there and shoots honestly kinda badass
I like how rockstar dosent allow micha
to a part of this mission
Raman Ahmad I am sure this mission with Micah would have gone horribly bad
@@abdhbfdhdfhf they pretty much killed every Braithwaithe and burned their house. How much worse could it have gone?
Paulo Peregrina U. Usually missions with Micah end up with Pinkertons and police all over since he was a rat
@@abdhbfdhdfhf but he wasn't always a rat, remember? He began snitching on the gang only after Guarma. He was an asshole, but not a snitch yet
Easily Dutch’s best moment. He’s so brutal but it’s sweet that he cares for Jack
This is may be Rockstar’s greatest mission. And that includes every moment of greatness from the gta games.
A
The way that Dutch just draws his guns and strafe shooting with style and without a care in world is certainly one of his most badass scenes in the game in my opinion.
lol i think i speak on behalf of everyone watching this that this was easily everyones favourite mission in the game when they reached this point.
The fact that you can feel the hate anger in Dutch’s voice and the gangs p presence rockstar did very well with this mission well done
The camera, the lighting, the music, no Micah. Just perfect
1:00 "Micah, Kieran, anyone strange turns up... YOU KILL EM!' "
idk why but i love that quote from Dutch
Top class voice acting
The part when they are walking up to the mansion is an amazing shot but the bit around 1:10 when you see the convoy of horses formed and moving out and those slow paced war drums coming in with Dutch saying “let’s go get that boy back” has such understated power to it. It changes the atmosphere of the whole mission and you just know that something is going down.
10:27
“And what about them?”
*gunfire*
dutch is such a badass.
As if he’s like what about about them Arthur
This looks like the Candyland house from Django
Jamie Foxx would be proud
i knew it felt familiar!
"I iNsiSt we shake hands".
I had the exact same feeling and similar to the brutal shootout in the manor in the movie too.
Deathpool_04
If you insist
One of the best missions and is only cemented because you're riding with the true members of the gang excluding Sean and Kieran. The rat is left behind at camp too
Bold, fearless, dangerous, caring. This is the true Dutch Van der Line and the Van der Line gang. Easily the best moment in the game.
I love Dutch, that man is a total badass.
Imagine the brutality if Micah had joined in the raid.
willyXIII they should have left him in the burning house
The Hardcore Orange y leave him ? He is good at shooting, and he would probably go insane and kill everyone
Arthur Morgan Spoilers dude , i know some people say the game h has been out for a year but still some people are playing
@@pozzesedpotato3709 is not that good he failed like 6 shots in the epilogue.
And John was like 5 feets away of him
@@holad-jlsegovia-423 Plot armor
This mission is too badass.
This is one of my favorite missions. Then riding up to the house with the epic music is so badass
Dutch killing one of Katherine's sons in front of her without hesitating is one of the darkest moves in the game. No doubt.
Other dark moments:
Beating tf outta Thomas Downes
Dutch killing old Guarma woman
10:46 Dutch had me tearing up right here.
Best Mission in the game so far!!
Watching this again and I never realized how badass Dutch was at 5:15..took out 3 without any problems
11:10 "Guess that's the end of the goddamn cribbage game."
*_Seinfeld theme plays, audience applauds_*
Favorite mission of the game because of the storyline, music and stipulations. Great buildup
The Braithwaites survived and thrived in that mansion for 120 years.
The Van Der Linde gang burned it all to ashes in 120 seconds.
When they walk in a line up to the mansion...I get chills. Brave men
John, I need you to stay *calm*
*gEt dOwN hErE nOw!! yOu iNbReD tRaSh!*
I liked Dutch more before he went crazy.
As did we all.
The build up when marching to the Manor was badass, it felt awesome
4:03 that shot is just amazing. My gosh. The gang. Dutch, Arthur, John, hosea, javier, Lenny, Charles, and Bill.
Rat free gang
It’s a awesome shot in the game
Sean should have been with the boys.
Hell they have the same first name too
I swear, she reminded me of Marlowe, too.. Idk who it was, but there was another Braithwaite that reminded me of Talbot.
@@tayfun4688 I think it was one of her sons that reminded you of Talbot.
@@mlplarisanable I think it was either Gerald or Gareth Braithwaite..
Say what you want about him but dutch absolutely stole this mission
The cinematography really shines in this mission.
11:46 "Boys are off limits."
I still find that line funny.
Dutch trying to soothe his bruised ego by making the others believe they could still come out on top.
this mission... the music, the gritty atmosphere, the tension, the shooting, the fire, it rocks my very core.
After what happen to Sean, come to the camp and seen that Jack was kidnaped, full emotions right there
There is a Gold Medal to grab on top of the fireplace to the left, when u enter the room at 6:10
iDeally and a letter to Angelo Bronte
Man! that slow build up as you march to the Manor was so badass! and the music just made it 10 times more badass than it already is!
*BOYS ARE OFF LIMITS*
Nam Nguyen Never mess with a man’s son. Especially if the dad is a gunslinger
So I guess there was gold after all
4:14 when the principal called your mom
10/10 Story
10/10 Gameplay
10/10 Music
Best Mission
And 200% carbon emissions
And the scene where they're all walking to the manor
I finished this mission last night and it was absolutely amazing. I knew that once the whole gang joined, some shit was about to go down. The atmosphere is everything and the missions prior to this really helped build my anger towards the Braithwaites and all of Rhodes. At this point I felt that it wasn’t just about rescuing Jack, but putting an end to the feud between the Grays and the Braithwaites which lead to Sean getting killed.
I guess that's the end of the GODAMN cribbage game!!! LMAO
Good old Hosea😂
Chapter 3 Dutch: has the whole gang get in a brutal shootout with the Braithwaites to get Jack back
Chapter 6 Dutch: refuses to help John escape from prison.
It all makes sense between a Children and his Manpower, though
Bro this mission gave me the chills. One of the best missions in RDR2.
Man, almost the entire gang rides out at the beginning is one of my favorite moments in the whole game. It's like oh boy, somebody just fucked up real bad.
"John, I need you to stay calm. *GET DOWN HERE NOW, YOU INBREED TRASH!"*
Best Dutch moment, hands down.
Braithwaites learned this lesson the hard way, "DON'T PISS OFF DUTCH VAN DER LINDE!!"
This was the most Badass mission in this game and the music gave me chills
12:19 The goosebumps is unreal.
This mission was pure bad-assery I fucking love it
4:00 the first ever rdr 2 artwork scene
I love how Bill immediately volunteers the second Jack is in danger
So in the end Braithwaits are worse.
@@victorleonardo9676 braithwaite took jack
Braithwaites*
I love how at 0:55 it’s literally just Dutch, Arthur, Hosea, and John going at first, Dutch gets offered help and says “why not?” I respected him so much right here, but it all went downhill after this
“i guess that’s the end of the goddamn cribbage game” is my favorite line of the game
This mission , A Quiet time and American venom and my top 3 favorite missions. When I played this mission the first time I got so hyped when the gang all walked up to the Braithwaite manor. Iconic !
11:34
Arthur: "That´s it, I´m out of here"
