Omg I’ve always wondered what made this sound !!! Thank you!!

My favorite kind of days are when the neighborhood is quiet on a nice summer day, and you hear the mourning dove.
I had one nesting on my window seal one year. It was great.
It’s such a beautiful calming sound!!
Mourning Dove, I never knew it was spelled that way
...I agree, I awoke to this sound this morning
It's like these birds are the real life version of Subwoofer Lullaby...
Memories of chilling on the swing set at my childhood home in the country.
I finally found it. I've heard this sound so often since I was a child, I always wondered what bird it was.
I thought it was an owl this whole time
@@LedXBL same lmao
me too! thought it was an owl.
Same!!

the sound that notifies you of the fact that you just stayed up the entire night playing video games
yep i will be back on december 31st 2021

Oh this is so nostalgic, now I just need the smell of lilacs, honeysuckles, dew, and the faint smell of cow manure, and then I'm in absolute nostalgic bliss
That sounds like a beautiful setting! Reminds me of home in the summertime.
Great setting painting!
Beautiful man, I miss it so much, my grandparents don’t live far away but I would go there everyday in the summer from about 7 am to 5pm it’s amazing my childhood was my grandparents more than my home tbh 😂
😂😂😂
@@Baer_Dev do you live in the midwest?
This is honestly one of the prettiest sounds I’ve ever heard
I know. I remembered the name of these birds that called as I woke up early for kindergarten
Very peaceful
I wonder how many different places doves live. I currently have 2 separate nests on my property they are so beautiful and so is their song. They often sit randomly on this bush outside my window and they just look cute it must be comfortable there lol
Ikr? It sounds like they sing the Subwoofer Lullaby from the MC soundtrack, that music gives off the same peaceful nostalgic feeling
Their saying... ohh ohh baby...are ..you out there?
When I was younger, I'd mimic the call and have a back and forth conversation with one in the mornings for almost half an hour. Finally figured out which bird I've been chatting with all these years!
i was ab to comment this 😭 i had learned how to make the sound almost identical by cupping my hands and id chat with them all the way to the bus stop
ME TOO 🥺😭
I'd do this and so proudly tell my mom I'd speak to them
Yep
That’s lovely 🥰
I always thought the sound was produced by an owl. Seems the dove can call without open the bill. It is funny to see the puffing movements of its throat as it is cooing.
The sound comes out of its nostrils, sort of like how an ocarina works.
Everyone thinks or thought it was an owl at one point 😆
same, and i would wonder why an owl was cooing at 7 in the morning in a busy city like mine, an entire city away from it's nearest possible habitat. my mom told me over the weekend what it was.
I was always told it was an owl too, I didn't realize it was a dove until about a year ago or so
I was thinking the same thing when watching. The neck looks so soft!
This sound singlehandedly proves the existence of good omens because I genuinely can't remember any day I woke up to this noise being anything but good. And from the looks of things, it seems like lotsa other folk share this sentiment!
😊 I just heard it so it should be an awesome Saturday! Spring and Summer 2023 here I come! 😎
Everyone talks about how nostalgic it is, but as an 18 year old going into uni, I still hear this bird outside my window everyday. Makes me feel a little grateful, I hope to never forget this sound
That’s why it’s nostalgic. As you get older and more things start happening you forget to notice they small details
it's been years since i've heard one out in the wild, and I still haven't forgotten this beautiful and nostalgic sound, it also makes me want to cry how much i miss it. im glad you cherish such a small little detail in the grand scheme of our world so dearly, never forget the sound 💙
Sitting in my room with the window opening listening to the bird right now at 23 years old
The sound of coming home from school, the last day of the book fair, and it’s a hot summer day and it’s 2 weeks before summer break. Life’s great
You just described my childhood 🤣
I'm so happy that the answer to my question was here. I thought that the sound was possibly an owl, but when I looked towards the direction of this sweet call I caught sight of two doves. I'm glad also to know that their call is produced without opening their beaks. This video shows what I wasn't able to see. Lovely.
I know it’s starting to get warmer out once I hear these birds. Spring and Summer are on the way.
True, too bad the changing weather prevented the cherry blossoms from fully blooming where I live. Glad we got so still see some though 👍
Yes same
This transports me back to my childhood. I would wake up to this everyday.
Me too, that’s exactly why I am here!
These birds are a sign of peace and there’s sounds that they make are so peaceful
“hoo HOO hoo hoo hoo” haunted me in the morning before school
Hoo-HOO
hoo... hoo
😂😂😂
I know right? This bird reminds me of waking up in the morning for kindergarten.
0:30
😱😰...fear strikes the heart of every man and woman, when they have to go to school.
I like how big and puffy their throat gets when they coo, so cute.
It looks as if it’s filing up with air 😂
What a simple, yet memorable sound. I would always wake up and walk outside to my jungle-like forest in my backyard, pull up a chair and just listen to crickets chirp, and these birds coo. I always thought it was an owl or something, but now I finally know what it is.
My Life is Complete...
I hear this bird sound almost everyday, but it’s blocked out by other things, such as cars or simple distractions. We all have to get ready in the morning, yknow?
But when we’d go camping over the summer, and you’re walking along the path, at 6 am, if that, even… toward the bathroom in this just barely lit forest, you suddenly realize this calming and soothing sound. I miss camping, I hope we go sometime soon.
My grandmother had a giant tree in her backyard, with a swing tied to the tree and a playset in the corner. We would come over every Friday before the pandemic. Everytime I would come out to the backyard, I would hear this call from high up in the tree. I remember laying on the soft grass and just letting the wind blow through my hair, listening to the birds. All the time I spent with family in that backyard.
I miss doing that.
I went over to grandmothers house for Easter today. I heard them again. It made me happy.
@@Thomsyeah Glad to hear that
I'm a 50 year old man who's heard this bird my entire life, and now I finally know the bird making these 3 cooing sounds
LOL same here I’m 51 and I just heard this sound as I was waking up and had to look it up finally. Thanks to this video I now know it’s this bird that makes the sound 😂😂
Same! And its NOT an owl😯
And then the smell of morning while walking to my bus always feels good
The soft dew on the lawns scrunching up beneath your shoes, the crisp morning air brushing up against you. It's a good feeling.
Bro this comment made my eyes water up. Thoughs where the days
It was always on a day close to the end of the school year too. The anticipation of a summer break is also associated with this sound.
I love how everyone feels nostalgic hearing the sound of a mourning dove.
Here because of a tiktok talking about hearing this sound while walking to school in the morning lol, I’ve finally found the name of the animal that makes this sound and I am happy bc o wondered for yearssss

GIRL LITERALLY SAME!!!
SO WE ALL JUST HERE!??
Yes we all just here😭😭
@@seraphina3093 guess so 😂
For 31 years I've wondered which bird was making this noise until today. I love this call, I think it's my favorite but the general sound of birds singing is amazing. This is just the one that really stood out to me. They don't have a very complex call at all, but that's what makes it so easy to notice.
Ah yes, the sound of waking up early like at 5:30-6am at my grandparents house and having breakfast and coffee with them on the porch. Good days
Mom loved them .. she's gone now so I hear them and feel she's near ❤️🙏
We moved to Texas recently and I heard this bird call. It sounded like an owl, but the fact that it was daytime and owls are nocturnal confused me. Thanks for clearing this up. The sound is lovely.
barn owls can and will hunt in daytime also
I thought the same exact thing. Just moved out to the country, it was confusing. Regardless, it's just a blessing to sit on the back porch and hear/see this beautiful part of nature.
So gentle. They are also called "Turtle Doves" as in the holiday song.
Yeah. I think they are white and can be found in Christmas songs and trees
They’re the same one?!? That’s so cool
OMG Turtle doves are in the movie home alone 😱😱
Thanks for associating the lovely sound of the dove with the most annoying and dreaded Christmas song ever recorded.
They are not the same bird but closely related
Mourning Doves have lovely haunting songs / calls. Beautiful audio and scenes, especially the 2 together. Best regards, Cathy
I don't think it sounds haunting. I think it's calming.
Listen to Forest Interlude & Subwoofer Lullaby. Amazing music that fits them so well...
When I imagine heaven, this is what I hear
It’s great that you say that, the Holy Spirit is symbolize as a dove.
aw yeah
Subwoofer Lullaby...
The Holy Ghost is like a dove. Happy new year! The new covenant will not save you if you continue being rebellious and stubborn against the word of the Lord. It is a sin to steal and a sin to forget the sabbath (saturday). *1 Samuel **15:23** KJV - For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.* Witchcraft, sorcery idolatry, witches, sorcerers, idolaters will be cast into hellfire. Only they that are washed in the blood of the Lord Jesus and keep his commandments shall be kings and priests. There is no such thing as a sunday rest or sunday sabbath in the Bible. Only the seventh day is blessed, sanctified and hallowed. Isaiah 66:22,23 says that from one new moon to another and from one sabbath to another shall all flesh worship before the Lord in the new earth. Matthew 7:21-23 proves that not everyone that says Jesus is Lord will enter the kingdom. We need to do the will of the Father which is to obey and honor our Lord Jesus Christ. He kept the sabbath, new moons and holy days while he walked the earth. Why do you keep sunday, Christmas, Easter and January 1st which he never kept? Repent.
I remember as a kid how this sound kind of freaked me out. I always thought to myself what kind of bird it was. And I always thought it may be the owls saying goodnight to every other bird. Seeing the answer when I’m a teenager going off to college, makes me feel… happy. I went from being confused and freaked out to amazed and calm by those beautiful bird calls.
Why would owls freak you out?
Owls are great too ... tons of personality!
This sound has followed me all my life. Everywhere I go I hear this bird. And now I finally know what it is.
Inner peace.
We raved hard in our late teens/early 20s. The Mourning Dove call really brings me back to those early weekend mornings. Lying in our attic bedroom with our close friends and cousins. Sitting semi-silent. Collectively coming down. Knowing, but not completely understanding, we were in a time of our lives that would remain with us forever. The significance of psychedelics and nature cannot be overstated. Listening to the call of that bird fills me with so much life.
Grew up in northern Virginia. Had three dogs (sadly it’s gone down to one), and would walk them in the early morning with my dad. Always heard their calls and always loved hearing them. Right now, however, their calls conjure up a different memory. Sitting on the back porch as a little kid at my grandparents’ house with my grandpa, the smell of coffee and honeysuckle in the air, while the two of us listened to the birds. My grandpa was the one who taught me that it was the mourning dove who made that sound. Now, when I sit on the back porch of my grandparents’ house, now the man of it, I wonder if the mourning doves are mourning him, in a projecting sort of way. I miss him a lot.
💗💗💗
Their call stands out so much, I remember it so clearly from my childhood, far more than any bird call. Thank you for the memories!
Closed mouth vocalization is so fascinating. Mourning doves are awesome
Man I always thought this noise came from an owl
Ikr
They're very similar lol
That’s what brought me here. I was so wrong all these years

Mourning doves are so beautiful! Their sounds is so enchanting and those big dark beautiful eyes and mostly pacifist leaning nature. Truly wonderful birds
Raised in northern illinois. These guys remind me so much of spring/summer mornings at my grandma’s old farm. No one else was awake except for these guys call, some of the most peaceful moments
the day i wake up and hear one of these again is the day i regain hope for the world
One of the most nostalgic sounds of summer.
I only hear these in the morning and afternoon from spring-fall, and every time I love it. It’s such a beautiful sound, coming from a beautiful bird.
One of the most peaceful sounds that nature has to offer.
I love to go out on my balcony and call back to these birds when they coo. They coo back to me. It's awesome !
Just heard this outside my open window pull my curtain back and there was a mourning dove on my windowsill! We scared the hell out of each other lol
Man, waking up and hearing that while your downstairs all by yourself sitting on the couch because everyone in still asleep is amazing.
back when you were too young to understand that 6:30 was wayyy too early to be up 🥲 wish i could go back to those times
Thank you for this posting...excellent job! Just look at all the pleasure you have given so many people and brought up warm memories. I love how many people mention memories of being at their grandparents houses. When I moved back to Kansas after a many year absence I was given 2 doves by a family member and what a delight it was raising them. I turned most of them loose before they got too domesticated to make it in the wild. I had at least 8 stick around and feed at my place. That has dwindled to just 3 singles now but I still have the original Papa Bird and it's been over 20-some years. My vet marvels at this, last visit to trim Papa's beak, the vet said, "Julie, this is a really old bird." I hope I have him for a lot longer. He loves when I visit your site and play the wonderful sounds for him.
Hearing this is like an instant warm, nostalgic feeling
I'd always hear these guys in the morning when I went camping, I'd stay in my tent and just listen to them and the nature around me. I'd also like the sound of distant conversations from other nearby campsites. So nostalgic.
Always wondered what bird made this sound. It takes me back to those quiet summer mornings- all is still. Things felt so peaceful. This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for this.
They don't open their beaks they do it in their throats. Wow. Finally know what bird does this that I've heard all my life! Thank you!
I love hearing them every morning outside our bedroom window!
I had NO IDEA this sound was coming from doves!
I love mourning doves. They come to my feeder every day. So beautiful!
a couple months ago i was talking about how i never see or hear them anymore and today one came into my bedroom window and did the call right into my face and stared at me. I loved it lol
I love this sound. As a north carolinian, I hear this sound all the time on cloudy mornings in the fall or winter. They’re so relaxing.
Mourning doves, as dopey as they are when it comes to self preservation, are one of my favourite birds. Who doesn't love their call? And they're so pretty!!!
This is the only thing I can hear in my childhood memories 💛
i'm keeping this on loop as i work on college assignments (finals are next week) and this helps immensely with my focus. i dont know why. thank you so much!!!!
At last I know what that beautiful bird call is that made me think of a more musical owl. I've heard them outside my window very often. Always so welcome, unlike the trilling shrieks and funny squawks from other birds that pop up in the morning. Such a nice way to wake up.
I remember this call. It was about 2016, I was in elementary school and I was playing outside in the backyard of my house. Everything was quiet, except for the neighbor's dog barking, the wind blowing, and this bird's call. I'm in high school now, but I still vividly remember this bird's call. I never knew what bird it was until now. ✨memories✨
I used to love waking up to the doves on a quiet summer morning when I was a kid. I still love hearing the birds when I wake up. So peaceful and nostalgic.
It is so sad that I never hear it nowdays. It brings fond memories of waking up in the morning and playing with my friends on the lawn, or making model planes on my kitchen table in the summer days 🥲
hearing this sound is waking up in the morning on a bright, chilly march day, sleeping in too late with outfits already picked out for me for school. it's taking a walk down the road on a blisteringly hot summer day when the sky seems too blue to be real. it's that background music you grew up with that you never quite forgot, but always slipped your mind when it was gone.
Dove looking beautiful nice footage good video fully watched 👍👍👍
For 18 years Mourning Doves nested in the Arborvitae tree outside my bedroom window, they were my alarm clock through all the seaons. When the older parents died, younger mating couples took up housekeeping in that same tree. I loved their gentle cooing then and still do, fond memories of childhood into adulthood, thank you for sharing this.
Heard this outside my house for years...
Loved it but never looked up to see what it is.
I googled it finally: "Bird that sounds like an owl in the morning" and it brought me to Mourning Dove. :)
So peaceful, calming, and comforting. God's creation is beautiful.
Such a boring peaceful call the dove makes. I love it. My dad couldn't stand the calls. He used to work for caltrans in Texas on roads way out in the middle of nowhere and he'd hear the boring dove call. Hed get Lonely. Lol
lol the doves probably thought he was boring too
I hear these outside my window .. so beautiful ..reminds me that sometimes the world is alright …
I used to hear these birds in the morning as a child, when the sun would be rising whilst I got ready for school. I used to think "mourning" was actually "morning" because I only ever heard them in the morning!! I haven't heard them in what must be years, and I missed these sounds. Thanks for posting this. :)

I’m so glad I could find this on RUclips. I love the mourning dove’s beautiful call, and I’m so lucky that I get to hear all the time
OOH, I like to call to them outside my house! They answer back a lot like33
I heard one of these yesterday and couldn’t help but smile. These are my favorite birds.

The bird you always hear in the morning. What a nice sound to wake up to.
These are North American birds and in the US they stay here year round without needing to migrate far. The bald eagle may be the National Bird but I've never seen one before, meanwhile- wherever I go across these lands I can always hear that familiar and relaxing coo of the mourning dove, it always makes me feel at home no matter where I am.
My dear friend, nice video
Have a nice day👍👌💕💞🌷💫👏
I haven’t lived in a town for a long time, since I was like 7ish and this brings memories of being up super early and going out into the backyard to play on the swings or tramp with my siblings. It’s so nostalgic. I don’t think I wake up early enough to hear it anymore.
Nah cause tik tok brought me here😂. I thought this was the sound of an owl my whole life 😭
Sameee
I've heard both the owl has a different sounding who it's shorter and fast.
Yes I'm not the only one. This is the sound I heard every morning when I stayed at my grandmothers this and one other bird call. I whistle the tune almost every day its stuck In my head lol
This bird lives where i live, and the sound of the dove makes me wanna cry. The doves call make me remember stuff i haven't thought of in years....
Beautiful mourning dove call ! Very nice sound ! Super like video!
i will never not love the mourning doves call! 🥰
I love watching these birds from my window and hearing their coos. There is a group of them that always lands in my garden every morning to get nesting material in the spring and early summer, and there is also a Anna’s hummingbird’s nest right on our fence. Birdwatching is one of my favorite pastimes on a spring morning.
Like 19 beautiful bird
Thanks for sharing
This brings back wonderful Saturday morning memories from me being a kid and my mama still being alive. I used to find these calls very interesting and I just knew it was a mourning dove without ever being told
I've heard this cooing in my neighborhood for years on end, and despite how long it's been a part of my life, I never knew where it was coming from.
It always felt so magical to me, like a sign that things are going to be okay. Or a warm/chilly day of activity, when the Sun is going down, chore day or close before the first day of school. I always see Mourning Dove's in my neighborhood but I'm now after years just figuring out it was from them all along.
It makes sense to not have known easily, because this made me realize that it sounds so distant because they do it out of Human reach(and without opening their beaks).
I was actually considering hunting down the sound to figure out the species, but my Mother just told me the race minutes ago as I type this and I just unlocked a whole childhood/adolescent mystery. Their call is so beautiful, I always gain inspiration and hope whenever I hear them.
One of my favorite sounds in the world..so peaceful.
The past 30 days or so I've had the pleasure of watching a male and female dove couple protect their two eggs (under my covered furniture), and now raise their two baby doves. I've been lucky to see some cool moments, like practice flights to nearby trees and back. I have a feeling they will be leaving soon, and it's kind of sad. But at least I'll be able to get the deck furniture set up 😁
used to sleep in my grandmas bed as a kid because i was afraid of being alone, i remember waking up to see her next to me and hearing these birds, or if she wasnt there, smelling muffins from the kitchen. makes my heart happy hearing them again🤍
When you walking to the bus stop and you hear this
As a kid, I used to think it was an owl. Now I know better lol
Finally, everyday I would hear this bird coo in the afternoon on a hot sunny day in Arizona.
Such a tranquil sound on a warm sunny day while relaxing. No other distractions just you and the bird..
I've got a bunch of these babies hanging around my backyard eating sunflower seeds I put out for them. Probably 20-25 of them but they are so elusive. The collective startling sound they make launching into the air will scare you silly if you're not prepared for it.
I always thought it was an owl, turns out it was a dove this whole time
Fantastic share ,like 28, have a wonderful weekend.
