Weird that so many other people associate this bird call with their childhood. I thought I was the only one. I used to hear these in my old neighborhood while walking to elementary school. Very peaceful sound. I used to wonder if it was an owl.
Abcity
I wish I still heard them, I rarely do, I moved to a really urban area closer to downtown than where I used to be. (I'm 28).
I use to assume the mourning doves were revived passenger pigeons when I was 10.
It immediately takes me back to childhood summers. My mom would take me and sister on bike rides around the neighborhood. As the sun would set, and the crickets chirped, I’d always hear this sound. I miss those days.

That little hoot at 7:38 is so absurdly cute. You'd almost think they were owls.
I actually get really grumpy at birds in general, because I so often hear their loud squeaky chirping just stupidly early in the morning outside my window (seriously, like 3AM, I kid you not). The one exception is the Mourning Dove. I always heard that soothing, gentle call and loved it every time. They're truly adorable.

> It’s a cold autumn morning.
> You’re wearing a coat and standing outside.
> You hear the coo of a dove.
> The wind blows the trees and the dove calls again.
> You smile.
Great poem
The simple things.
> The Sky is a light, foggy blue-grey with the occasional wispy, tufted cirrus clouds.
> Blinding sunlight is seemingly scattered throughout the sky, bouncing through the atmosphere, causing you to squint a bit until the clouds pass and the early light of the golden honey-colored sun is crystal clear and comes out for the day, framed by the barren delicate branches of deciduous oak trees.
> The ground is damp and morning mist looms, rolling gracefully through the air, creating rainbows as the sun bounces off of it, playing tricks with your eyes.
> You flare up your nostrils and take a deep breath of the chilly air in, feeling the microscopic droplets of water tickle the inside your nose.
> The air smells sweet like autumn rain and wet leaves.
> You take a sip of your warm hot chocolate, coating your tongue in it’s rich, milky taste.
> You smile again, for today is going to be a good day.
(Too much? 😬 I’m sorry).

Same... Ever listened to Subwoofer Lullaby? They give off the exact same feeling as that MC song...

The "mourning" in the name refers to the male's mating calls which sound like grieving over a death, but the calls actually mean the male is looking for a female to live with.
I love it when they tilt their head as if they're curious or confused. So cute.
I do it back to them haha
Imagine having your eyes on each side of your head, you will have two points of sight and have to move and tilt your head around constantly to see all around and make sense of whats around you. Also if your tiny and could be a good meal for a cat or a snake, then your constantly doing the same thing all the time just to stay alive. A birds way of being a paranoid schizophrenic!
Another way to imagine them having each eye on one side of their head is to cross your eyes where you see two pictures of the same thing, then imagine them having to do that but two different images constantly moving about to make sense of whats around them, and are always on the lookout for predators. Hope that makes sense and helps you to understand better on why they might be doing that tilt the head thing. I dont know anything about birds but I try to understand why they are always tilting their heads and moving them constantly and fast too! Like I said it could be their version of a paranoid schizophrenic in bird form! Lol 🤣 just a little joke people who do suffer from being a paranoid schizophrenic is no laughing matter and I do hope each person does seek treatment and then has a better life, a normal life. I do pray for them and for everyone suffering any illness, any pain of its emotional or physical. We all need to pray for our fellow man and woman. Thanks
Have a wonderful and blessed day! ☺️

This is the sound of my childhood. Not kidding, literally my earliest memory is being in the garden of my day nursery and hearing this sound.
That's wild. In that moment, the infant suddenly gained sentience
When I was a kid, my grandparents had a lake house in Michigan. The house had a walk out basement that led straight out to the lake, and my siblings and parents and I would always sleep down there on air mattresses when we visited. There were a bunch of windows in the basement, so we never really got to sleep in late because the sun rise was so bright. The light would pour in through the windows and even reflect off the lake water, making it even brighter. I didn't mind though. I loved getting up early and watching the sunlight glitter across the water and feeling the cool dewy grass between my toes as I walked barefoot down to the lake. The air was crisp and cool so that the water looked like it was steaming. And everything was so still and quiet. The only noise was the lapping of the water against the shore and the mourning doves. Every morning, without fail, mourning doves would sit on the roof of the house or in the trees and just sing out their cute little coo. I actually used to think they were called "morning" doves and not "mourning" doves because I always heard them when I woke up.
My grandma died of breast cancer when I was 11 years old and I haven't been back to that house since. My grandpa sold it soon after she passed. It's been nearly a decade now and every time I hear mourning doves, it reminds me of those mornings on the lake in Michigan and how absolutely at peace I felt. They bring back such good memories of a simpler time. That lake was one of my favorite parts of my childhood. It's now October 2020 and I just lost my grandpa last month to Covid-19. I still haven't quite grasped that he's gone. He was one of the last pieces of Michigan/that part of my childhood and now he's gone too. My family and I are still trying to understand his passing -- it's quite strange to lose someone to a pandemic, I hope none of you have to experience it -- but we plan to carry both my grandparents' memory forward. We would love to someday have a lake house of our own to create our own lake memories and share that joy with our kids and grandkids and family moving forward.
If you took the time to read this, thank you. I hope you are all staying safe, taking care of yourselves, and finding some peace in this world ♥

Good evening Ashley. The Holy Ghost is like a dove. Happy new year! The new covenant will not save you if you continue being rebellious and stubborn against the word of the Lord. It is a sin to steal and a sin to forget the sabbath (saturday). *1 Samuel **15:23** KJV - For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.* Witchcraft, sorcery idolatry, witches, sorcerers, idolaters will be cast into hellfire. Only they that are washed in the blood of the Lord Jesus and keep his commandments shall be kings and priests. There is no such thing as a sunday rest or sunday sabbath in the Bible. Only the seventh day is blessed, sanctified and hallowed. Isaiah 66:22,23 says that from one new moon to another and from one sabbath to another shall all flesh worship before the Lord in the new earth. Matthew 7:21-23 proves that not everyone that says Jesus is Lord will enter the kingdom. We need to do the will of the Father which is to obey and honor our Lord Jesus Christ. He kept the sabbath, new moons and holy days while he walked the earth. Why do you keep sunday, Christmas, Easter and January 1st which he never kept? Repent.

A mourning dove has made a nest in our house. It has laid the eggs. When it hatches I will tell you!
Kavya Sriram Have they hatched?
@@dunnowhattoputhere7532 more then likely ours hatched close to two weeks ago.
have they hatched?
The mortality rate is very high unfortunately. Hope your little visitors survived.
@@dunnowhattoputhere7532 The chicks hatched and flew away
one of my all time favorite bird calls, seems like you only hear them when you are just relaxing outside enjoying nature
I love the way they tilt their heads, so cute!
This is one of my favorite sounds ever, it reminds me of being a little kid. The sound just takes me back to my childhood home
My grandmother used to say this was the call of the lonely dove who was left behind after a hunter killed his mate: “Take two, two-two-two!” A mourning dove, indeed.
Thank you for sharing this, that was so accurate and beautiful 💙
Awww sooooo sad. :'(
😭💔
My mom always told me it was "jesus murio" which is jesus died in Spanish when I was little.
My one and only favorite bird. So peaceful and faithful to the partner. This is the only bird I can fall asleep as it is relaxing. I consider myself fortunate and blessed to have one build a nest in my yard and return every year.
We have one as well, her chicks just hatched ≤3 we had another one too, only one of her young survived.
I feel similar, this bird call and owls...so relaxing. Best sleeping aid!
Mourning Doves are so cute! ❤️
Brittany Illumination Ent. Lover Davis they sound so pretty. In fact, for some reason I have a particular dove flying back and forth in our apartment building. When they fly, their wings have a whistle Squeeky sound.
you know it Brittany;)
They are so damn cute.!!
You bet they are ❤️
Brittany Pixar/Disney/Studio Ghibli Davis here in Texas, they and the Eurasian Ringneck Dove are everywhere.
Whatever you are feeding them they seem to love it. AllI put in my feeders are black.oil sunflower seeds and raw peanuts. They love those too. I could watch them all day!❤❤
I love that sound, their so gorgeous. I just want to hug it.
So that is what i keep hearing every morning at 7 AM.
It's beautiful 😍
I hear Mourning Doves all day and at dusk all year. It's beautiful. Very nice video. Thanks for sharing.
I hear them everywhere i go. Literally
After 5 years of not hearing this bird I am finally able to hear it outside my house again.
Hear these guys all the time. Such a beautiful sound.
When I was little, my grandpa had built a big pen in his backyard and suped it up with all kinds of nest shelves and feeding spots with different types of feed and no doors, just a pen with open doorways a nd within months he had a full house of mourning doves that came and lived in it, nested there, laid eggs and hatched and raised then there and we would all just come and sit in the backyard with all these doves cooing and walking around us like some sort of modern day snow White scene 😂😂 I miss the sounds of doves
Best grandpa ever :)
Man, I’m a little jealous
Wow! This is probably a long shot, but if you pics of it, please share
Day 54 of Quarantine: I have now learnt how to speak bird fluently.
I heard those birds cooing once and I let out a call and a bird replied
It’s lockdown. Quarantine is what people are put into after coming back from another country. Lockdown is what the country is put into.
Cooo oooo oo oo
Me too!!
Ganda Gandara I actually have been loving this downtime to enjoy mother nature. It’s glorious and we are usually too busy to notice. I had all new landscaping done in my backyard just to watch the birds and squirrels. It’s therapeutic
Where have these Doves gone? I never hear those beautiful coos anymore ;'(
Give it till spring
Wake up early lazy ass
They are definitely here during Spring and Summer mornings in Texas.
I love these birds. They make such a soothing sound. I had one in my yard nesting for a while... I came out one day recently and found he had fallen and he wasn't able to stand straight... I offered him food and water and made a sheltered area for him, unfortunately he got worse and passed away (I think he had PMV virus)... I've seen alot of shit but seeing that little fella struggle hit me hard. I've got quite a soft spot for birds now.
I rescued one of these and still have it cause it fell off its nest during a hurricane and this co cooing is ALL I HEAR
I swear it’s my alarm every morning at 6:00 he starts always on point 😂😂
EDIT: we released him and now he is a happy healthy wild birdo! I miss the coo cooing now 😂😂😂
Same over here, they are just wonderful
Fierce_Gamer 101 I have one with a wounded wing that my husband found in our yard. He had alot of ice on him due to our extremely cold and crappy weather. Just hoping he makes it 😔
We are taking Very good care of him
Same but mine come back everyday for food and knock on my bedroom window if I don’t go outside with their food 😂😂😂😂
Millie and Robin ❤
That sound makes me think of early spring early in the morning when the sun has just come up, and the dew is still covering the grass and the windows. It's the kind of sound that just makes you feel safe.
Such a calming, soothing sound from my young years in the countryside of Oregon and then later in the southwest. Always brings me peace, reminds me of my dear Mother.
I always thought they were called "morning" doves because I usually hear one cooing down our fireplace around 6-7 AM. Wonder why it's name is so somber...
Swift Shock I thought that as well.
It’s thought that they’re called mourning doves because their cooing sounded as though they were mourning a lost love, also there were old legends and wives tales similar to that of the Valkyrie where if you heard this a certain number of times you were going to die, although there’s tons of variations, some even suggesting the opposite.
I always thought it was because their call kind of sounds like someone crying, but I really don't know.
Mourning doves are the cutest birds in the world!!
Anime Budgie attack on titans
I think diamond doves are even cuter... they will fall asleep in your hands!
Doves it's a wild pigeon
Most beautiful voice ever , 7 am cold weather and quiet , everyone is sleeping and you're awake listening to these voices.
These birds deserve everything
