Today we look at my 20g long that houses wild bettas and chili rasboras. Hope everything is staying safe! Stay tuned for more close up looks at my aquariums.
You can’t break this tank down. I love these types of “jungle” tanks. They become a complete ecosystem. The video with the music playing was so peaceful.
I loved this. When I screw up my one aquarium it gives me solace to know that someone who has set up hundreds of aquariums and knows more about plants than I ever will still has to be patient when things aren't going well. Thanks for the inspiration Rachel.
I love this aquarium. Seeing an example of the results of allowing the plants to grow into their full potential instead of always snipping and fussing to maintain an artificial appearance is wonderful.
I agree 100% with you, Rachel. Patience is key with planted tanks. You can't replicate how plants naturally fill in. To be honest, patience is key in any aspect in this hobby. I used to work in a garden center's pet department and the best advice I gave people is just to take things slowly when they start in the hobby. If you rush the start, you'll only have more struggles in the beginning. The people who followed my advice kept coming back because I wasn't just a 'seller', I really tried to help them. The people who didn't followed my advice came back with aquarium water for testing that didn't look good at all. You just can't start an aquarium on tap water, full of fish, barely any plants and only top it off. Those people frequently came back to be angry tho haha
I've just decided to renew my old aquarium hobby and found you through the tank cleaning video. I'm subscribing for all these other wonderful videos. Thanks.
Another really lovely tank Rachel I am very much a fan of the gone a bit wild look and I agree patience is the secret ingredient in developing a great fish tank
@@RachelOLeary Thanks I am keeping busy I have started a marine aquarium it’s not much yet but it’s getting there got some great deals on the coral auction today😊👍🏻
Most of my tanks as a kid were 20g long or formerly known as Show Tanks. 😊. They are a very versatile size!! Mercy Rachel, is there room for the fish...😆😆. Looks really NICE!! REALLY LUSH! 😘 The chili's look sweet. Not sure what I'd add, maybe more Chilli's..? Wish the Bettas' would breed for you. I can see why your lounger is front and center...such beautiful aquascapes to enjoy!!! 😎 Thanks Rachel...have a great evening. 👍🎄
Really nice how this aquarium has grown. I think maybe some emerald dwarf rasboras would be a good choice with maybe some Pygmy Corys or a panda corys, to help churn up the substrate.
OmG! That's awesome. Awhile back you were talking about making a video about working with algea if people are interested. I'd still like to see see. If one thing I'm learning in this hobby is patients.
Beautiful tank! I love seeing tanks that have been set up for longer than a year or even 2! I have been in the hobby for almost a year now and it’s amazing what a little patience can do!
Hello Rachel, Beautiful aquarium and lovely plants. Tomorrow is maintenance day for my 15 gallon fluval flex. My water sprite grows like crazy and I need to prune it. My aquarium looks more like a jungle but the neon tetras love it. Have a safe, healthy and happy holiday season. Dan
Love love love this tank- I guess I really need to have more patience with my plants so someday I can get results like this. Thanks and have a great day!
This tank is just wonderful! Such a relaxing scape ❤️ I’d love to learn more from you about kubotai rasboras. I’ve been keeping some for several months and trying to make them happy, but also having trouble finding much info on them (other than your old species spotlight). Thank you for sharing this!
I'm new to your channel and LOVE the footage that you share of the fish loving their space. The information you share is great as well - it's just nice to get lots of both, which is not something I get from other keepers. Thank you so much! BTW - the Stinky the turtle footage yesterday was precious.
Rachel, I love your videos. I will always watch and I am so sorry for your strife trying to downsize that incredible fish room. It’s just sad 😞 and I am so hopeful that in the end this will make you spiritually stronger. It is hard to let go of what we know and move out into what is ahead.
Wonderful tank! 🌿🐟 I like your chili Rasboras. What about adding more of them? With 2 Pearl Gouramis? My friend breeds beautiful Pearl Gouramis in Maryland. 🙂🌿🐟
I love this tank so much! It reminds me of how most of my 'scapes have turned out after a while. I think it would be cool to see Iriatherina werneri or Pseudomugil luminatus in there. A school of Boraras brigittae that is healthy and colorful like the one you have in that tank is one of my dream fish. One day, maybe when I stop moving around the country every couple years.
Beautiful tank. Sending good vibes your way. One of my favorite aquariums I had was a 20 long featuring dario dario and emerald eye rasbora's from you.
I was going to name these! And the celestial pearl danios. I have a small school of both, along with a school of rosy loaches on my 20 long and it’s perfect!
I think Sundadanio axelrodi would look amazing in there, especially if you up the tannins again. I know they're hard to come by, but I don't think you'd have any issue with that ;)
Hey Rachel we have all had a shit year, some more than others.doing what we love will keep us focused and mentally strong. i have just set up my second tank (nano) and added amongst others some threadfin rainbows. i would love if you could add these to your wonderfull "alge tank". X
For small and colorful, maybe some P.luminatus? They've got that nice neon blue eye and stripe to be nice and eye catching from across the room. Music, once again, is absolutely wonderful and perfect. --- Edit to add: Are you still selling fish and shrimp? I've been thinking about putting an order in, but I know you've been having a hard time and haven't wanted to add more stress to your plate.
Can you do a giant school of chillis and Boraras maculatus in this tank? I love seeing the two together because they’re so similar but you can appreciate the colouring of both species when they’re next to each other 😍
Today we look at my 20g long that houses wild bettas and chili rasboras. Hope everything is staying safe! Stay tuned for more close up looks at my aquariums.
I’m still waiting 👍🏻
Beautiful! Amazing job!
Just lovely 💚💚

AGREE!! 😉
I agree too. I would love to have this tank.
Keep this tank for sure!
Totally agree....the tank is awesome! The music was way too loud and distracting.
@@Strongerthandirt8695 but you can turn music down if to loud. For me it was fine.
Dangit, I was hoping "patience" wasn't the secret key to success. Where can I buy that, and do they have two-day shipping? 😆
🤣🤣🤣
consider yourself a year older, and take everything easy during the following 365 days. It's all in the mind :)

Haven't seen the algaescape tank for a few months, would never have recognised it as the same tank. I love the wild natural look.
Another peaceful zen video, love it! 💕💓💕

Thanks Rachel sorry I haven’t been here much I haven’t been well. And New furloughed from my job. So I have lots of time on my hands .

Yay! My favorite tank! It's so spectacular! And that wild betta, I think I'm in love with it's little face! 😍
Love your tanks. the best part is when you zoom super close and you see all the amazing life just floating around.. ty for these videos :P
Glad you enjoy it!
Great video! I have Kubotai in with my rasbora. Their green color is a nice contrast to the red of the rasbora and they are both close in size.

I absolutely love this aquarium.
its crazy to look back at its progress over the past couple years!
wow, the algae on that hardscape is absolutely beautiful! it looks so soft and lush. those fish must be loving it!
Love love love this tank. I would just add more rasboras.
Tanks looks amazing! Even looked extremely cool with all the algea. Love your video's. May you be blessed. And as always. Thanks for your video's.
Neon green rasboras are a great small fish!

I’m inlove with this tank!, I’m in my first week of aquascaping and this video really inspired me and helped me... “Patience is the key”
I absolutely ove that shelf of plant material. Amazing.
Beautiful tank! I love seeing tanks that have been set up for longer than a year or even 2! I have been in the hobby for almost a year now and it’s amazing what a little patience can do!
those chilli rasboras look insane in that tank. my dream fish

Oh my god that’s the algae scape tank?! It’s ridiculous how much it’s grown that’s crazy!
right? I didn't realize until I was looking back through old footage recently!
Hope you are well Rachel, look after yourself mate, love your videos thank you
Beautiful looking tank my sister be blessed stay safe
Woahhhhhh I love all of the foliage and I've always really liked green, fluffy algae like that, I just think it's so cool looking

The Ginga Guppies would look INCREDIBLE in this tank! 💖💖💖
Agreed but catching them to thin the herd would be tough!!
@@RachelOLeary tiger barbs 5 or 6 would help keep numbers down.
So beautiful!! Love this tank!! I love the green neons so much!!
I love the wild look to the tank. I need to add color to my 29 gal its got too many green plants
in it.
that is one of the things I really like about the Crypt affinis metallic red- its a nice variation in color
I think Hyphessobrycon Elachys could be something for you. Not that popping coulors, but super activ and fun to watch. Love this Tank😍
Some micro predators could be really cool! Like some species of badis (dario dario), pygmy sunfish, etc
Oh! I love my Scarlet Badis. I agree they would look great in there!
I agree with the idea of scarlet badis. I would also keep the chili rasboras.
I really enjoy your videos about planted tanks! Thanks a lot Rachel
Glad you like them!

Love it, really good to see the variety of plants thriving in a low tech tank. It's giving me ideas haha, love your videos Rachel
Chiles are my favorite!🥰🥰
I really like th chillies but maybe the emerald rasboras would be nice. 😉 Thanks for making another video. Two in one week. That is a treat.
I am on a roll of filming. Gonna do as frequent as I feel like for as long as I feel like it LOL
this tank is breathtaking 💜😊
Again a beautiful tank! I'm having Chili Rasboras and Threadfin Rainbowfish together in the same tank. They doing allright. Thanks for sharing Rachel!
I'm so in love with your chili rasboras 🥰
Great aquarium. Add Ember Tetras: complimentary color to green.
Another great video. I loved watching the fish in their environment. The plants are lush. I would keep the chili rasboras and add some scarlet badis.
Neon blue rasboras are lovely little fish and go well with wilds and are a true blackwater fish
I love this tank so much! It reminds me of how most of my 'scapes have turned out after a while. I think it would be cool to see Iriatherina werneri or Pseudomugil luminatus in there.

Look into the dwarf emerald rasbora's! I love them but they can be hard to find even on the internet at times but at least it's another rasbora
I was going to name these! And the celestial pearl danios. I have a small school of both, along with a school of rosy loaches on my 20 long and it’s perfect!
I really love this tank. It's beautiful.
Looks awesome Rachel! Thanks for the video!
Nice range of plants.
Very beautiful! I'm going to need to try that Crpt.
I think pygmy corydoras would thrive in there. Also some endlers
Love the scape and the fish!!!!!!! How about putting some pseudomugil?????? Maybe the luminatus variety or the paskai.
Dwarf Emerald Rasboras would look AMAZING in this tank. Or some Spoted blue eyed rainbow fish
The tank is gorgeous!!
Stunning tank! This would look great with some Sparkling Gouramis & Ember Tetras
Or Japanese blue/green orchid endlers!
Apistogramma borellii opal male with two or so females. A school of Ember Tetra would be great too! Thanks for all the great videos!!
Really nice setup i have those plants (not same variety tho) on my tank still waiting for them to take over really hope they grow well like that
I
The chili rasboras have some much color. Beautiful
I think that having a fancy Guppy tank would be cool because a lot of people can get their hands on Guppies
I love the chilly rasborras I hope I spelled that right.
I want to start a 20gallon long.
Love this tank. Just did a re-scape on my 5g and I am hoping for a result like this in the coming months and years!
I think Sundadanio axelrodi would look amazing in there, especially if you up the tannins again. I know they're hard to come by, but I don't think you'd have any issue with that ;)
oh man, they would be perfect
You’re such an inspiration! Thank you!

lampeye killifish would look great in there!
You could add green kubotai or merah rasboras
I would like to see some scarlet badis and clown killifish in there
Is beautiful. I liked seeing the limpets too ;) mine die out after I treated tank for hydra :(
Looks amazing. What's the plant with red stem plant?
I have Amano shrimp in my Hillstream tank. Would the shrimp eat the eggs?
Do galaxies in there. 😉 They could even breed in such a jungle. A person I know has similar setup, which produces quite a lot of fry.
Rosy tetras would really POP against all those lush plants 💙
For small and colorful, maybe some P.luminatus? They've got that nice neon blue eye and stripe to be nice and eye catching from across the room.
Music, once again, is absolutely wonderful and perfect.

Edit to add:
Are you still selling fish and shrimp? I've been thinking about putting an order in, but I know you've been having a hard time and haven't wanted to add more stress to your plate.
Yea, I am doing some sales, but trying to keep it at one day a week so that I can limit the time outside of the house.
@@RachelOLeary Are you doing pickups, or shipping only?
I am shipping on mondays

All I can say is...WOWZA.
Man, that is beautiful.
I recently got some clown killi fish. They are really tiny and very cute.
My easiest planted tank to take care of is my hillstream tank with high flow
With all that greenery I think rummy noses would look great.
That aquarium looks really good. How about adding some celestial pear danios.
More nano fish would look really cool in there. like the cherry rasbora.
That is beautiful!
I see some fresh water limpets on your glass and I have them too.. do you think a pea puffer would know what they are? ;) trying to get rid of them.
Wonderful stuff, thank u👌👍💚
Keep that red! Maybe get some cherry barbs to really color up?
Love love the look of this tank 😍. What about adding some Marosatherina Ladigesi ?
Another sweet tank of yours! How about some coral red pencilfish in there?
