Good finds! I particularly adore that tapestry bag, though the fall sweater was great, too. I have always dressed much more whimsically and girly in the summer, and much less imaginatively in the winter, in part due to our wet gloomy weather here in the Pacific Northwest. This year, I decided to keep on wearing skirts and dresses and just more interesting clothing in general than jeans/long sleeve t-shirts/vest, etc. I am going with darker colors and Lagenlook layers. It's been great fun starting in my closet, but augmenting with purchased additional "under and over" layers, as well as a corduroy dress and jumper, sweaters, and velvet. It's been fun so far, and very workable, but the rain hasn't yet started in earnest...
That rusty velvet shirt you got is amazing 😍 And those books, what a find. Makes me wanna take the time to go through the books section on my next thrift trip 📚
Cute stuff, especially the velvet peices. I want some more velvet in my life. Those books are so neat! I have been inspired to try and find more fantasy style books to collect whenever I go thrifting. They're very nice to have around as decor and to read when you need a little magical escape.
You should definitely try and find the rest of the Brambly Hedge collection! I spent so much time as a child staring at all the details in those illustrations and wishing I could explore one of their tree homes
Thank you for actually telling us which goodwill that was! Those were some crazy good finds! The vintage! The velvet! I’m in SoOR. The books and the bag were specifically for you 😇
Gasp! I would have squealed over those amazing books!! I love them 💜 Just this monday I had 30min to kill so went into the nearest thrift store. $25 later I left with my treasures and a smile 😊
Thank you for the thrift tip about thrifting during fall. Never thought about that before. I live in Sweden so it might not be the same but I will try!❤️💪🏻😊 Love all the books you found and the trinket box✨ but my favorite must be the orange, velvet shirt😍🧡 it’s just looks perfect on you❤️
Yeah I’m curious how thrifting is outside the US. It would be so fascinating to some day so some traveling oversees and see how it is elsewhere and document it 🤔
When I was growing up, my mother ordered those books. I had the entire series at one point. No idea where they are now, but I loved them. They have some neat stories and pictures in them.
Wow, you found some good items! I love the books. Your backdrop of the book shelves looks really nice and your lighting was cozy. I have been looking for vintage books and cottage core decor it's hit or miss at our stores in CT. The prices are very high. Will you do a decor styling vlog? Have a good weekend 😊
It’s funny because I only had one of my studio lights working at the time and I think I accidentally discovered a better setup 😂 I do have plans for more decorating videos but a lot to do before then. In the meantime I will be showing a full tour of my office soon!
I know, right?! It's so worth searching through thrift stores for them. I have seen some listed online for decent prices but what gets you is shipping sometimes. One listing, the book itself was $5 but the shipping was $10 😰
I've been thrifting online because the only charity shop in my vicinity is not giving. However I am now on a self-imposed online thrifting ban until next year lol. Love these fall cardigans and sweaters you always get 😍
Haha that is so relatable 😂 I was trying to do the self imposed ban and it only cut me back a bit. Hope this haul provided the serotonin you needed to get through the thrift ban.
I was collecting those books when they first came out years and years ago. They would send one a month and cost something like $20 each. I never got the entire series, but I had quite a few. Unfortunately, they got some mould on them a few years ago and I had to turf them. Such a drag, they were great books. You're lucky to have found so many at one time.
That is so sad! I think it’s worth trying to find at least your favorites. The Fairy one I got from an online used book store for 7.99 free shipping - not as good as 1.99 but definitely not too bad. I’ve seen the others listed on Mercari and Facebook as well for under $10 (shipping probably makes it more around $15-$20).
Oh yes someone else mentioned this too. It just reminded me of a box my mom used for recipe cards when I was a kid I think. Maybe hers was for playing cards too 😂
@@DressMeUpScotty 😊 Well, I look forward to seeing what YOU do with it! Like you, I recently found some fun and funky street clothes amidst the costumes. Great reminder!
Poppy is a cute pumpkin! You got some gorgeous things...I think I probably squealed when you spotted those books! What a FAB find! I've been doing loads of thrifting on Vinted lately because I finally decided yo completely change my style to suit me on the inside (whimsigoth vintage girlie!). and I'm loving it!! xx
I have all but ONE of those hardback books. I too (mostly) spent way more than $1.99 on mine. I got a couple on clearance at Half Price Books though. Over all great hauls! Your style is so cool!!
I love Half Price Books for that reason, because when the thrift stores fail you, they usually have what you’re looking for at least eventually. I need to make a trip there again, it’s been ages!
@@DressMeUpScotty Exactly! I've been filling our my Dune series almost exclusively through HPB. The next time you come through toward Pgh and to Ohio; Columbus is the best thrifting I've done in ages and they have SO MANY thrift stores AND HPB!
I forgot about Goodwill's Halloween section!! I haven't been to one in so long since I have drive an hour and a half to get to the nearest one now! I'm going to have to make a trip there before Halloween. Loved the video.
I’m sure intrigued by the book set you found. Would you do a reading series and share the artwork?? Like panning over the artwork while doing a voice over of the story??
I’ve been trying to thrift more whimsigoth clothing lately (when my unemployed self decides I need it 😅), there were some really nice items in this video!!
In the Halloween section recently I purchased: 1. a 1960's fur trimmed coat 2. a 1950's hat 3. a 1960's fur pillbox hat 4. a 1970's sequin hat 5. a 1980's sweater with floral applique and beading with ORIGINAL TAG showing $170!! 7. a 1970's boho maxi dress 8. a pair of 1970's striped slacks 9. a 1970's disco collar yellow floral shirt!!! Total spent $42!!!! because it was Halloween stock! I passed up the following because it was too small: 2 AMAZING 1970's leather jackets a 1960's mod dress a 1950's dress ❤ several 1970's pieces that were SO GOOD 💕💕
Oh man, I literally paused the video to yell about that denim jacket! That white stripe down the middle means it was selvedge denim, which is either vintage, or a niche modern designer since they don’t mass produce denim like that anymore. It’s really cool! Not to boil everything down to money, but that was probably a $300-400 jacket.
I have been going to my local library and enjoying the different selections I can find for sale. They sell (normal sized) paperback books for .10¢ and hard backs, plus large soft back books, for .25¢. I found an author I have been wanting to try out, there, and got seven of their hardback books for $1.75. If I don't like them, I can donate. It's not going to break my bank with that amount. 💕
Haven't been thrifting all the close thrift stores closed so I have to drive to far flung suburbs. I have credit on Thredup I should look and see what they have for maxi dresses. My aunt is planning an estate sale and I plan on selling off stuff at her sale.
Yeah unfortunately as they become less common the prices go up for things. I think they’re easier to find here which is why they’re not as expensive but I can understand why elsewhere it’s a different story.
On Wednesday I thrifted a set of Brambly Hedge plates and since then, 2 youtubers I follow have posted hauls with Brambly Hedge items. What are the odds?
It’s always so perfect when you find books you’re looking for at the thrift store!!!!
YES I was legit stunned!! Made my day. I had just been thinking “I haven’t found anything that MAKES the trip” - then saw those immediately after!
One trip I found the whole Percy Jackson set, and another trip I found a full set of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings
@@sarahkinsey5434 wow great finds!
@@DressMeUpScottyI love that book series. Beautiful artwork
I looked up The Enchanted World series and for the complete set of 21 books I saw prices between $300 and $750. Wow! Keep hunting!
Oh wow that is a lot! Probably better to hunt them down individually for sure.
I think that box holds 2 sets of playing cards. Those books!!!!! ❤❤
Oh that makes sense!
Good finds! I particularly adore that tapestry bag, though the fall sweater was great, too. I have always dressed much more whimsically and girly in the summer, and much less imaginatively in the winter, in part due to our wet gloomy weather here in the Pacific Northwest. My parents had a plastic one almost exactly the same! It indeed held two standard card decks and was ridiculous, but the wooden one is pretty cool!
Great finds, esp the orange shacket🧡 Also live the necklace you’re wearing. It looks like armour to me ⚔️
That rusty velvet shirt you got is amazing 😍
And those books, what a find. Makes me wanna take the time to go through the books section on my next thrift trip 📚
Yes! I love going through the books. It takes patience but is worth it when you find cool books.
A great diy idea to paint the damaged fairy figure like its wing was torn off.
That’s a good idea! I don’t pick it up but I’ve seen so many fairy’s missing a wing at the thrift store. I’ll keep that in mind!
Cute stuff, especially the velvet peices. I want some more velvet in my life. Those books are so neat! I have been inspired to try and find more fantasy style books to collect whenever I go thrifting. They're very nice to have around as decor and to read when you need a little magical escape.
I feel the same about fantasy books. Part of me is also hoping to have a full magical collection in case we are able to expand our family 🥰
omfg the books :0 ✨ also love that orange velvet ~shacket~
i’m currently on the hunt for ornate frames !! wish me luck
Good luck!! Frames are so fun to thrift. Sometimes you gotta dig. Also try yard sales and estate sales.
Those books 😍😍 what an amazing find!
Those books are amazing and I'm envious!
The books are amazing what a find!
I love the Brambly Hedge books! There’s one for each season, if you didn’t know already! So sweet🥹
What a treasure trove of fantasy books!!! Don't you love it when you have something in a wishlist then find it in a thrift shop 🌹⚔🌲
I need some new thrift stores! Love all your pieces!
looking forward to your DIY of that bag. I have a similar one and i would love some ideas of what to do with it.
Good to hear! I’ll be making plans for it soon. 💚
You should definitely try and find the rest of the Brambly Hedge collection! I spent so much time as a child staring at all the details in those illustrations and wishing I could explore one of their tree homes
Brown coats reference is top tier.
🙌 🤎
Thank-you, I really enjoyed your thifting haul🎉🎉🎉I thift at my goodwill and I love it🎉
Glad you enjoyed! ❤️
Ahhh your Firefly reference made me so happy! One of my fav shows, so underrated
Great Haul! I have the full set of those myth & fairy tale books. They are so lovely. ❤🧚🏼♂️🧝🏼♀️🧙🏻🧜♀️🧚🏼♀️🍄🖤
They’re so cool 🥰 I love mythology and fantasy art.

I have the complete Enchanted World series because my husband had them as a kid and so for our first Christmas together I hunted them down online.
That’s so sweet of you! They’re so cool.

Such a cute phumkin! Poppy seems dubious about the fashion choice from that expression.
Haha yeah this was her first time ever wearing an “outfit” - she was not a big fan so we took it off her shortly after 😂
When I was growing up, my mother ordered those books. I had the entire series at one point. No idea where they are now, but I loved them. They have some neat stories and pictures in them.
The Lisa Frankenstein reference 😍 I laughed the whole way through that movie
Haha it was such a unique film - iconic 🖤
My dad has (it better not be past tense) a HUGE collection of those books. I loved looking at the pictures of them when I was younger
I felt the “better not be past tense” 😂 let this be your sign to find out if he still has them 😂
@DressMeUpScotty Update: He still has them, he has 11 volumes and they are now mine. 🫡 thank you for unlocking this core memory Scotty.
Thanks for the video Scotty! I know I shouldn't but this really made me want to go thrifting...

The Brambley Hedge series is AMAZING.... there is so much in the pictures when you look close
Those books are an amazing find! I've been collecting them for a while. Online they are expensive so that is a big score!
I know, right?! It's so worth searching through thrift stores for them. I have seen some listed online for decent prices but what gets you is shipping sometimes. One listing, the book itself was $5 but the shipping was $10 😰

I have almost the complete collection of those fantasy books I got from my grandmother

They have similar purples so they definitely could coordinate! 💜
Wow! Congrats on the Enchanted World books, what a deal! I did a whole video on them on my channel if you are curious to learn more about them!

I wish we had thrift stores like that in nz! Halloween isn’t much of a thing here so they don’t often make cool costume sections
