Concur. So nice to be back on a channel with great analysis and respectful, adult commentators. Saw a reaction to GLS by a classical musician which I respectfully disagree with most of what she said but what was really disappointing was the large number ofrude, arrogant trolls who could only insult people instead of engaging in an adult conversation So thankful for the Nightwish Army where that is not the norm and we can agree to disagree.

"Sons of Winter and Stars" live rehearsal at Sonic Pump Studio, from his previous band Wintersun (and you'll also hear Jukka Koskinen, Marko's successor in that video) Yes, 50% of Wintersun are now part of Nightwish 🤘 (After filling Marko's place as session bass player for the current tour, Jukka was officially announced to be a permanent member a few days ago)

Floor can really sing and draw you in like a siren, a common theme in Nightwish. You should listen to Floor sing the Nightwish song "The Siren" for a great example of that. There is a good video out there.

This is the melodically beautiful NW song for me. Floor does an absolutely sublime performance of it here. The band is so calm under her angellic voice in this one. Note they are not full on, there is a certain dynamic in this one. Almost no cymbals for example.
I love your reactions with Nightwish. You would have to do a reaction of Floor Jansen, when he was in his previous band "Revamp", in the song "Disdain Live at Graspop (2010)", you would be amazed with what he is capable of doing with his voice.
This was the half-way point of the show and the previous song was an instrumental. Floor was changing backstage and had to rush on stage to start her vocals. You can see her running and almost miss her opening. A little trivia from this epic show!
Great job , this is one of may all time favorite songs mostly this performance. Jukka had bsd insomnia and stepped down in 2014 but is still with them in management his good friend Kai Hahto filled in at first then became full member after Jukka said he's not able to recover enough to return to touring or playing again . I think Kai became full member in 2015
Yes and Kai (like Jukka Koskinen now) came from Wintersun. Kai was a good friend and mentor of Jukka but they have very different styles. Both extremely accurate - helped by the click of course.
Have to say about Kai, "new" drummer.. Just like Emppu he is smiling a lot when playing too 👍 also I've seen him singing along with Floor many times. It's a pleasure as a fan to see how much they enjoy playing their music ❤️ Also new Jukka in a bass seems to be enjoying a lot in stage 😊 If you ever watch some of their documentaries you will hear one wise man saying about Tuomas; "He is a genuis. No one else is doing what he does, there a few who would like to but don't come even a close." 🤭
Just another in a long list of excellent reactions. I love how you catch the "little things" that make these people so incredibly special. Great song, it's one of their older ones. Jukka had to depart the band due to health reasons however he still is a part of the band from a management side and just not as a player is my understanding. The new drummer kai hahto is really excellent I think you will like him but he's not as animated. The next song Romanticide is definitely one you will enjoy as well, you'll get to see a few more of... Well you'll just have to see
After you have finished Wacken I warmly recommend to move on to Deichbrand 2022. A few new members, new stage setting, and the show was at night so you will see all the beauty the band has to offer today. There is one song I would watch from another show though, and it's The Geatest Show on Earth. They did play the song in Deichbrand too, but they had to leave out the long intro of the song because of the festival time limit. :)

I don't know if you noticed (it isn't immediately obvious because of the lighting) but Floor barely made it to the mic on time - she had half a second to spare! The previous song, being instrumental, she used for a wardrobe change. Her zip got stuck partway! Luckily, it wasn't anything that might have been disastrous (or embarrassing!) but she had to wait until she left the stage for the interlude in Ghost Love Score till she could get help to fix it. Anyway, great reaction as usual. 👍
What wonderfull person you are. I"m so impressed about the way you analyze not only the music but also the musicians. Emppu has said that he never plays with 100% of what he can He plays what serves the song - not moore or not less. Perhaps one of the reason why Nightwish is so great band and happy "family" enjoing to share their love of musi to people is, that they do not have to play the game of along with the music corporations who dictate the radio channels to play 3 minute pop and hip-hop songs to maximize their money. Ok, Nightwish has made a cover which really is a tribute to Pink Floyd - "High Hopes" live in Helsinki Finland 2005. Marco vocals. Even David Gilmore said its the best he has ever heard. Please watch and listen. At least I was crying. Beautiful and filled with love for PF.
One of my very favourite Nightwish songs - the main reason for this - and it's something you eluded to towards the end regarding juxtapositions of styles complimenting eachother , is that although I have gone to see most major bands over the last 40 years, I was brought up singing secular music in English Cathedrals as a youngster and with the breakdown in that song, I recognised instantly the familiarity of pieces I used to sing such as, Hymns, Psalms and Anthems etc - such a well crafted song! Can't wait to see your reaction to Romanticide - thankyou for your gracious reply to my comment about which Emppu guitar solos you'd like to see. I do hope in the not too distant future you react to their Pink Floyd tribute 'High Hopes'. He played that sublimely and Marko's vocals soared!! In the meantime, take good care of yourself 😃

What a great song and performance! When I first heard it, I wondered why it doesn't show up in RUclips circles as much as many of the other Wacken tracks. This is another example (one of many, actually) that is filled with unselfish performances by everyone on stage that combine into excellence. And, yes, it starts with the composition. Amazing stuff! Talent off the scale, beautiful and just looks like she loves fronting this band. I'm pretty sure you're familiar with Dream Theatre...1 of my fav bands who I saw this year. I would never want Floor to leave NW, but Floor fronting Dream Theatre ( James Labrie not quite cutting the mustard these days, IMO) would be absolutely epic! The other guys are phenomenal too...and I agree with everything you say. Marco will be sorely missed, although his replacement, Jukka, is a great bassist, sadly without the voice. Jukka's replacement on drums, Kai, was I believe Jukka's tutor, and he's just as good as his student...

Now that you mention Emppu being all smiles here, it reminded me of the last few concerts where he's been unusually serious, doing his job as masterfully as always but it almost feels like (to me at least) Marko's departure hit him hard, he stopped playing around and being his silly self, until I saw their performance in Deichbrand, where he smiled again
Well he did burn himself in Pinkpop (it was so hot there and sun really burned) and that affected still in Hellfest. Also Hellfest was one day after his b-day so he might have been hungover 🤣 (Just thought that explains those shows)

It was very hot in Central Europe at the time and most Finns have a very hard time in that heat and humidity. Our summers are so much softer and the temperature is not very high compared to Central Europe and other places. Heat, humidity and hungovers are good bet why he was little bit off 😄
So, basically, you just love 'em all!! 😀 We all concur with that! Jukka has stopped playing, but he is still with Nightwish, in an adminstrative capacity. Jukka's style reminds me of Animal, from Sesame Street! Silly, I know, but he does. Jukka was replaced by his close friend (who he recommended) Kai Hahto, who is a beast on the kit. Marko's stand-in replacement, Jukka Koskinen has just been confirmed as a full-time member of Nightwish, so they are now officially back to full strength. He is also a friend of Kai's, and played in Kai's fromer band, Wintersun. This can only add to the cohesiveness and sense of family, in Nightwish. But you have some way to go to reach this point, and I will enjoy every step of your journey. Looking forward to your Romanticide reaction/analysis.
I really love this song. very underrated IMHO. Tuomas really shines in his poetic spoken verse parts. They are hard to hear, but so beautifully written. You get it my friend. Floor is so graceful and seductive in her stage movements. So much class. Then the aggression and passion breaks out! The Dutch windmill on full intensity! Love the praise of Emppu and his place in the music without need to stroke his ego. We all miss Marko & Jukka and his musical talent and stage persona. Jeff, you mentioned Marko Hietala: a few days ago it was announced by Nightwish that Jukka Koskinen will be the new permanent band member, so I'm afraid Marko and Nightwish is history☹ But Jukka is a great bass player, wish him all the best.
I really appreciate your knowledgeable and detailed analysis in your videos but there are a couple of other, not so obvious things I enjoy too. Firstly, and a lot of other reactors could learn from you, is your balance between your mic level and the video level. There’s so many times the reactor talks and then when the video comes on it either blows your ears out or the video is so soft it lacks the energy in it. So thank you for that. Secondly, you mentioned it but you also understand that a) if the reactor is talking during the video it means they’re not listening as well and b) the reactor could be talking over important parts of the music or video. That’s why I prefer reactors to pause and talk, I don’t mind the pausing at all. I can easily go to the original video to watch it nonstop. I know others may feel differently but these are just my preferences. I do want to add that I love watching Jukka play as well. One of my favourite videos to do this is Storytime from this show.
Thank you Robin, I really appreciate your comments. You have a keen ear. Part of my process is using a compressor/limiter on the audio to balance out my voice and the video. I do my best to balance the two as you mentioned. I totally agree with you regarding talking over the music. I try to keep it to a minimum. Not stopping the video is a choice I made long ago, not so much for the viewer as much as it’s for my own listening experience. I get a great deal more satisfaction from the music that way. Overall, I think it help in conveying a more powerful and emotional reaction from me. Thanks again for taking the time to write your comment!
Looking good rockin that Nightwish shirt Jeff. Floor says she likes to enter the stage at the last possible moment as it adds to her adrenaline rush - this occasion she just made it in time, you may notice her top is not fully zipped so i guess the costume change was a bit problematic. Looking forward to ROMANTICIDE next time - one of my favourites.

if you watch, Floor rushes onto the stage late. she just changed into the skirt and top. she's late because the zipper under under her arm stuck!

Emppu has said that he never plays with 100% of what he can He plays what serves the song - not moore or not less. Perhaps one of the reason why Nightwish is so great band and happy "family" enjoing to share their love of musi to people is, that they do not have to play the game of along with the music corporations who dictate the radio channels to play 3 minute pop and hip-hop songs to maximize their money. Ok, Nightwish has made a cover which really is a tribute to Pink Floyd - "High Hopes" live in Helsinki Finland 2005. Marco vocals. Even David Gilmore said its the best he has ever heard. Please watch and listen. At least I was crying. Beautiful and filled with love for PF.
One of my very favourite Nightwish songs - the main reason for this - and it's something you eluded to towards the end regarding juxtapositions of styles complimenting eachother , is that although I have gone to see most major bands over the last 40 years, I was brought up singing secular music in English Cathedrals as a youngster and with the breakdown in that song, I recognised instantly the familiarity of pieces I used to sing such as, Hymns, Psalms and Anthems etc - such a well crafted song! Can't wait to see your reaction to Romanticide - thankyou for your gracious reply to my comment about which Emppu guitar solos you'd like to see. I do hope in the not too distant future you react to their Pink Floyd tribute 'High Hopes'. He played that sublimely and Marko's vocals soared!! In the meantime, take good care of yourself 😃

What a great song and performance! When I first heard it, I wondered why it doesn't show up in RUclips circles as much as many of the other Wacken tracks. This is another example (one of many, actually) that is filled with unselfish performances by everyone on stage that combine into excellence. And, yes, it starts with the composition. Amazing stuff! Floor is everything you want from a front person. Talent off the scale, beautiful and just looks like she loves fronting this band. I'm pretty sure you're familiar with Dream Theatre...1 of my fav bands who I saw this year. I would never want Floor to leave NW, but Floor fronting Dream Theatre ( James Labrie not quite cutting the mustard these days, IMO) would be absolutely epic!
The other guys are phenomenal too...and I agree with everything you say. Marco will be sorely missed, although his replacement, Jukka, is a great bassist, sadly without the voice. Jukka's replacement on drums, Kai, was I believe Jukka's tutor, and he's just as good as his student...
You just blew my mind Tony! I am a fan of DT as well and the thought of Floor fri ring that band is 🤯! Ya, sadly, James has not been able to keep up the vox as well these days.

Now that you mention Emppu being all smiles here, it reminded me of the last few concerts where he's been unusually serious, doing his job as masterfully as always but it almost feels like (to me at least) Marko's departure hit him hard, he stopped playing around and being his silly self, until I saw their performance in Deichbrand, where he smiled again
Well he did burn himself in Pinkpop (it was so hot there and sun really burned) and that affected still in Hellfest. Also Hellfest was one day after his b-day so he might have been hungover 🤣

This is just not true. I saw them 3 times in May. He was his smiling silly self every night.

It was very hot in Central Europe at the time and most Finns have a very hard time in that heat and humidity. Our summers are so much softer and the temperature is not very high compared to Central Europe and other places. Heat, humidity and hungovers are good bet why he was little bit off 😄
So, basically, you just love 'em all!! 😀 We all concur with that! Jukka has stopped playing, but he is still with Nightwish, in an adminstrative capacity. Jukka's style reminds me of Animal, from Sesame Street! Silly, I know, but he does. Jukka was replaced by his close friend (who he recommended) Kai Hahto, who is a beast on the kit.
Marko's stand-in replacement, Jukka Koskinen has just been confirmed as a full-time member of Nightwish, so they are now officially back to full strength. He is also a friend of Kai's, and played in Kai's fromer band, Wintersun. This can only add to the cohesiveness and sense of family, in Nightwish. But you have some way to go to reach this point, and I will enjoy every step of your journey. Looking forward to your Romanticide reaction/analysis.

I really love this song. very underrated IMHO. Tuomas really shines in his poetic spoken verse parts. They are hard to hear, but so beautifully written. You get it my friend. Floor is so graceful and seductive in her stage movements. So much class. Then the aggression and passion breaks out! The Dutch windmill on full intensity!
Love the praise of Emppu and his place in the music without need to stroke his ego. We all miss Marko & Jukka and his musical talent and stage persona.

I really appreciate your knowledgeable and detailed analysis in your videos but there are a couple of other, not so obvious things I enjoy too.
Firstly, and a lot of other reactors could learn from you, is your balance between your mic level and the video level. There’s so many times the reactor talks and then when the video comes on it either blows your ears out or the video is so soft it lacks the energy in it. So thank you for that.
Secondly, you mentioned it but you also understand that a) if the reactor is talking during the video it means they’re not listening as well and b) the reactor could be talking over important parts of the music or video. That’s why I prefer reactors to pause and talk, I don’t mind the pausing at all. I can easily go to the original video to watch it nonstop. I know others may feel differently but these are just my preferences.
I do want to add that I love watching Jukka play as well. One of my favourite videos to do this is Storytime from this show.
Thank you Robin, I really appreciate your comments. You have a keen ear. Part of my process is using a compressor/limiter on the audio to balance out my voice and the video. I do my best to balance the two as you mentioned. I totally agree with you regarding talking over the music. I try to keep it to a minimum. Not stopping the video is a choice I made long ago, not so much for the viewer as much as it’s for my own listening experience. I get a great deal more satisfaction from the music that way. Overall, I think it help in conveying a more powerful and emotional reaction from me. Thanks again for taking the time to write your comment!
