I gotta say, it’s cool coming back to this video after it was revealed the owner cheated. Previously it was like “oh man, Adam struggled here. Now it’s the only spicy challenge he’s failed.” But now? “That owner is awful and seriously put Adam in danger.” Not a bad thing, just an observation. I’m glad Adam exposed that callousness of the owner. He easily could’ve been hospitalized or even killed due to the owner’s negligence. I also don’t consider this a loss for Adam because it was sabotaged
Plus, if he were to tackle the Death Wish Wing Challenge at Staten Island (and that’s a strong if), he’ll know that the owner was at least honest, and gave the competitors a fair chance, Casey Webb included.
No doubt man I watched adam on hot ones and he said that the director seen the guys dump in the whole bottle rather than the small.amount they are supposed to use and just went with it .. the peppers they was using could have killed some one ! No joke! So messed up they would even bother .. if ya wanna see where it goes ok sure maybe a tad more but not what they used ! And even at that , that is more than what the challenge was in which he was there to take on why the hell would ya alter it!?

@@dominicmartino6437 The owner put in an entire bottle of ghost pepper extract. You’re really only supposed to put in a few because it has no flavor and is all heat. Adam talked about it on his “Hot Ones” interview if you’ve seen it. This was the first S2 episode filmed and they had a new director who was unaware he could say “hey, you can’t do that.” Had Adam actually finished off the ten wings, it would’ve severely torn up his stomach to the point that it could’ve killed him from pure burning. I’m not a medical expert, but I think it could even lead to internal bleeding. Not only that, had Adam been killed or at the very least hospitalized, the owner actually could’ve gone to prison for being negligent. I forget what the actual charge would’ve been. In conclusion, the owner put an entire bottle of ghost pepper extract and Adam was in serious danger because of the owner being so callous. As Adam pointed out, they weaponize ghost pepper extract in tear gas grenades in India and that was going into his body

@The Emperor Pepper extract. It was enough to hospitalize Adam if he kept going, if not outright kill him. If you watch his Hot Ones Interview, he goes into detail on just how potent that stuff is and it's not to be played around with.

So, what happened was that the owner told his cooks to dump the WHOLE BOTTLE of pepper extract into the mix. The MvF director, according to Adam, was a new guy, and while he heard the owner give the order to add more extract to get Adam to fail, the director didn't know he could've intervened.
After this challenge, Adam's eyes and tongue got severely swollen. He could've died because of the owner's petty ego.

You can tell from the demeanor of the cook/owner from the beginning of the video that he isn't a good presence on the planet.

They bought the unit next door and turned it into a very popular tiki bar, still serving food, foods actually really great. And the people who work there now are super friendly. They've come a long way.

When I first saw this episode 12 years ago, I didn't think much of it.
After seeing the Hot Ones episode and seeing how much of the extract they poured in, I can safely say this episode should've been overturned from "Food won" to a "No contest"

This was by far the most ridiculous challenge. Arguably the hottest wings in the multiverse, with no relief, as well as a decent amount of wings, with a semi short time frame. This was literally said to be potentially fatal, and maybe if they had only put in a drop of the extract, it could be doable, but they put in way too much. This doesn’t count as a loss, because this was rigged.
They put in THE WHOLE BOTTLE of extract. As far as I'm concerned that was pure poison they served him

If I never saw the Hot Ones interview he did, I would never know that the restaurant cheated and added a lethal amount to the wings. Shameful, just to say ‘you won’ it ain’t right. That being said, Man v Food was a staple of my childhood/teen life. I want to go to some of the places he went BEFORE the challenge, as a kid I wanted to do the challenges but now I realize that there is no way I could even get a quarter of a way through most of them and don’t have that kind of money
Just found out, like most of you, what happened here. As a kid I loved this show and Adam. I never understood why he quit when the show was so popular but I understand now. Adam's great and I hope to see him do something soon

The prep showed the sauce being dark red. The wings he was served were black. The extract was black. It looks like it was just pure extract. If someone died from eating these wings, they would still be at fault as their waiver wouldn't mean crap as their recipe was altered. Its pretty dick to do that to someone who is giving you some great press.
I can't believe what they did to him. They used WAY more of that crazy hot sauce than was supposed to be on those wings. They could have fucking killed this guy.

Only just saw this clip and read the comments. I never watched MvF after Adam left because it was his great personality that made the show more than the food did. I sincerely hope the news about the owner cheating Adam to a dangerous level went viral to the extent that it cost him a vast amount of custom. Adan was not the type of person to bad mouth anybody, so while I hate internet nastiness, this time the owner deserves it.

Not exactly; that is the point of the challenge. The problem was in the extract from the ghost pepper thing, off camera when no one was paying attention the owner told the chef to put the entire bottle of extract in the wings. Literally no one could win the challenge because it can kill you.

I attempted this challenge.
I've never lost to any hot challenge in my life besides this one.
I originally went during the weekday, and they said they didn't have the challenge available. I asked about the weekend, and they said they'd have it available saturday.
I came Saturday, and they didn't have it. They sent someone to the store to get some ingredients.
Not only do I think I got the same treatment adam did, it might have been worse. I believe they were irritated at me because I asked twice for it.
My wings looked like a bowl of thick chili with wings underneath. My brother in law threw up after one, and I made it 75% through the wings.
I tried to make myself throw up to no avail. I spent the next 11 hours laying on the floor of our airbnb asking to go to the hospital. I was bleeding in my throat and had chest pains that felt like a heart attack.
Again, I've accomplished the worst of what my area, Boston, Philly, and Chicago have had to offer. This was completely different.
This place need to be shut down

I just watched Adam's interview on The Hot Ones.
He said and they have evidence on microphone that unbeknownst to Adam 'THEY PUT THE ENTIRE BOTTLE OF GHOST PEPPER EXTRACT' in the sauce that covered the wings.
This caused Adam's tongue and nasal passages to swell after he ate only two wings !
If he had not stopped the challenge more than likely he would have been hospitalized.

Knowing the backstory, watching this just pisses me off. I love spicy food. I've had spicy sauces and spicy dishes with extracts in them. When used properly, it can be balanced out and actually work well. But when it's just dumped in, it makes any dish not only inedible but also potentially life threatening.

And there's never knowing how many drops they use when they are making these out of sight from the customers. I'm sure they probably use their own discretion on how many drops or ounces of extract to use depending on if the customer is bragging and/or drunk. Once you sign the waiver they can pretty much do anything.

I was so intrigued by this restaurant's rather tasty looking junk food menu. Then I found out that the owner purposely tried to hurt Adam with a very dangerous and unfair play. Now I can't hardly stand watching the final segments of this episode. What a POS.
