Good video. A few things to consider when doing these test. There are basically three types of loads. Resistive, inductive, and capacitive. Resistive are loads that deal with electric heat generation, think toaster, heat gun, electric heater. Inductive are usually loads using electric motors. Fans, washing machine, air compressor. Capacitive loads, are normally, computerized loads. TVs, video games, and computers.
In my opinion you should run your test based on these three categories. So running three separate test using a toaster, heat gun, and space heater. Is redundant.
A toaster, big screen TV, and air compressor or washing machine would be better. And just those three test would cover what needs to be measured.
Just food for thought. Good video.

Great video. Thanks. I have the EGO because I have all the yard tools and love them. The way I get around the lack of passthru charging is to charge a battery on one of the standalone chargers that come with some of the power tools. They also offer a fast charger. You can do this because you can actively swap batteries while the EGO is running, as long as you leave 1 or 2 batteries on the unit (*depending on load).

I'm less than 5 minutes into the video, and already I have decided that the Ego is way too expensive and way too limited. If I spend less money I can get the Ecoflow delta max which is more equal in watts to the Ego. The lack of a DC output, usb c ports or high speed usb ports is a deal breaker for me. Thanks for the video. 👌

Wow, what an amazingly helpful video. Thank you so much. I just subscribed and am excited to see what other helpful content is here.
My personal read is that standalone, the delta is the “better” machine. However, I went with the Ego Nexus and am very happy so far. I went with the Ego because:
1 - It seems to power my primary need just fine (needed an emergency backup power source for Zoeller M267 sump pump, to avoid basement flood when power goes out. It cycles every 30 min ish and needs 1200 watts (115 volts, 10.4 amps). With the two 7.5 batteries that came with the Ego, I’ve been running it all day and it looks like I’ll get 24 hours of use, which works for me.
2 - I already use other Ego tools and love them all. They are legit awesome. The blower and edger work just as you’d expect, nothing too exciting. But the 14 inch Ego chainsaw is a legit game changer. More than enough for any suburb household need. Also my parents live on a farm and that chainsaw has tackled much larger jobs than I ever would have thought possible. Giant diameter trees it cuts without any problem. After a huge storm I cleaned up big trees the entire day without issue, and only re-charged it one time at lunch time for about an hour (5.0 battery)
3 - Where I live the delta max was a few hundred dollars more expensive. And no reason to pay that if the Ego does the job
4 - I like that the ego batteries are separate. So if they ever die or have any issue, can just swap them out without having to replace the whole unit.
5 - I already had a ego 5.0 battery from my other tools, which seamlessly fits right in with the 2 7.5’s that came with the nexus.
Bottom line - the ego power station is ten times better for my use than any giant traditional gas generator that would have to stay outside. Very happy with it. Also it’s very VERY easy for my wife, mother and daughters to use.
    Very happy with the Ego.

For all us Nexus Power Station owners, I’d love to extend the life of the battery to a LiFePO4 battery, ideally a 5KWhr 48v Server Rack.
If you take your EGO Link backpack adapter (BH1001), and remove the connection cable from the backpack (or simply buy a replacement cable ARC1500), can you connect the backpack adapter to the Nexus slot, and the other end of the cable directly to the + & - leads of the LiFePO4 battery. Thanks much, love the content.

Great review. I've been checking these two and a couple of other brands and I think it's down to either of these. And I am leaning to towards the Eco Flow for the reasons you mentioned. But if I ordered now, it would be at least a week to get one. The Ego ones are carried by Lowe's and Ace Hardware, some of the Ace stores near me say they have it in stock. The Eco Flow with a pair of 160w solar panels would run about $2,000 from Amazon. The EGO with two extra batteries would be about $1700, plus the solar panels and that charger you need for it, would easily put it over $2K.

As a portable power source I don't think you could go wrong with either. I have the Ego and love it! IMO the Eco Flow is one of the few power stations that can truly compete with the Ego. I think the solar charging for the Ego is a joke and not at all worth it so if you do plan to utilize that feature then the Eco flow is a clear winner.
My concerns with the Eco Flow is that it is a closed system so what it comes with for battery capacity is all you will ever get and when the batteries need replacing the entire unit would need to be replaced. For the Ego you can easily buy additional batteries either for extra power or as they need replacing.
If you are at all considering buying into the Ego line of lawn equipment I highly recommend you get the Ego. I have several Ego products and absolutely love them all. The 2 stage snow blower last year was fantastic. With all of the Ego batteries I now have it makes the power station that much more useful.
I think you will be very happy which ever way you go.

The best way to collect any batteries are to buy the tool kits.
If you want 4 10ah batteries. You go buy 4 Ego lawnmower kits with 4 10ah batteries at 3,000 dollars. You can now sell the lawnmowers and chargers separately to recoup your loss.
You could have a dirt cheap power station.

      @jamie8917 2 года назад +1

@@rjakiel73 You could get a few Ego batteries for the cost of a Delta but 2 Deltas would be great! One of my concerns is if the Delta battery depletes over time without use. If that is the case and you have multiple Deltas you could end up with dead batteries when you need it since the Delta is only used for one thing. I am constantly cycling through my Ego batteries for all my lawn tools so they always get recharged and are ready to go.
I really like the Delta and I agree it is a better powerstation but it is only a powerstation. Ego batteries are expensive but I use them in multiple tools so I feel like I get more bang for my buck.

When I test a refrigerator powers usage I’ll unplug it a good 2 to 4 hours ahead of time (power outage simulation) so that by the time you plug it into a power bank to see it’s true power usage it will need to come on and run.
Remember over a days use the refrigerator may go into defrost mode and your battery run time (remanding hours) of the battery bank will go all out the window to say. Because the defrost mode can take 200 to 500 watts and may take over and hour. FYI.

The better inverter, the eco, is running the appliances more efficiently. That’s why there are differences in wattage and run times between the 2.
To your comments about ego updating the nexus to pass through charging. In my opinion I don’t see that happening anytime soon, and I may be completely wrong on that. The is apples to oranges. ego isn’t competing with ecoflow. Until either Milwaukee or dewalt update their system ego isn’t going to move. Ego makes lawn tools and made an attempt to use the power from the batteries when you need it. Ecoflow is in the business of backup power.

FOR POWER OUTAGE. Buy a nice generator. 6500 watt. 3 5 gallon gas cans and fill them with 93 octane gasoline. Save 300 bucks and have real power. For sustaining your tv and fridge if you already have heat these are fine. these power stations won't even run a microwave which during a power outage any kind of electric heat should be your last resource. Power stations are great for camping.for an outage they are great for TV, plug your fridge in a couple of hours now and then so your food don't spoil and keep your electronic devices cool. Cell phones are important because if you have a data plan and wifi in your home your good to go and don't lose your entertainment value due to down lines. I have gas heat but obviously the furnace won't work with no power for the blower and igniter. If you want your gas furnace to work you have to make sure you have your electric supply plugged into an outlet instead of directly to your breaker box like most are. it take on;ly 110 volt 20 amp circuit to run your gas furnace but it won't work with no power to your breaker box. If you have it wired to a 110 plug you can run your blower from a generator. that blower will not run long from one of these power banks. Best to have a secondary heater in your hoke like 22,000 BTU vent free wall heater. that will heat 3 homes even the blower does not work and that blower is simply fan that you could run from a power bank for hours easily.

No kidding... The 2.5 battery in my EGO chainsaw died and it was 150 to replace. there are a few vids on YT about EGO battery failures also.

I completely agree that batteries are expensive BUT it is not just Ego batteries that are expensive. In comparison I think Ego batteries are lower priced than other brands. A Dewalt 20v 8 amp hr battery is $200 locally. That battery only has a capacity of 160 watt hrs so it comes out to $1.25 / watt hour. The Ego battery that you reference however is a 56 v 10 amp hr battery with a capacity of 560 watt hrs which is $0.80 / watt hr. The cost is high because the capacity is a lot more but it's considerably cheaper per watt hr. Also in my experience my oldest Ego battery is 4.5 years old and it still has at least 93% of it's original capacity which I think is respectable. Warranty on Ego batteries is also quite good IMO.

Disagree, only buy the station if you already have a mower, snow blower or both

EGO has an "App" but other than that it id a piece of crap and look how huge it is and you have to add all those batteries...Good review though TY
