Hi Lisa, please make your episodes as long as you want. I for one love a long episode. You have such a relaxing way about you. The music, the spinning it’s always so special. Your cardigans! So good👏🏼🥂🧶. 😃
I LOVE the longer episodes. I always pick a time when my house pretty much empty and I'm able to enjoy while I'm crafting weather it's knit or crochet. Please continue with the long episodes!
So my 2 year old is in a PICU due to a respiratory virus triggering a non stop asthma attack and after starring at walls for 4 days with a very unhappy teathered (due to the oxygen and neb) 2 year old, I have a new episode of your podcast and I’m so thankful! This absolutely made my day. You are the best 😊. Thank you!
Your cardigans turned out so gorgeous! I am knitting my first cardigan out of some handspun black welsh mountain and I just hope and pray it comes out anywhere near as cozy as yours 😅 I hope everyone is having a good February/ whatever month or season your watching in!
Hi Lisa. Thanks so much for your long episodes. I really love all the things you shared. My family and I raise angora goats and the mohair braids you showed are beautiful. I can’t wait to see how your swatching for socks looks. ❤
I so enjoy watching you Lisa. You are so soothing and I love to listen and spin to destress. I just purchased a double treadle Lendrum from a friend. It came with 5 bobbins and the plying flyer. And a beautiful purple carrying case. Something in my gut said to buy it, I don't need another wheel. You justified my purchase! Thank you so much. Keep up the great work and keep inspiring me!♥️🐑🐑
Thank you my friend, I'm so excited your making socks again this year ❤ I love all of your colorful yarns and fibers, but the color of your handspun Felix is just a wonderful color on you! Will visit soon
I have the identical Felix cardi in Green Mt Spinnery yarn and color. You described it as I would. Love your Felix in your homespun. I'm knitting my second in homespun, BFL, not completed as yet. I find your videos peaceful and restful, especially when you're spinning. Thanks for the effort it takes to produce these!
Thanks for reminding me I was born on St. Bridget's Day. And thanks, too, for introducing me to a new composer; it's even better that he is Norwegian. I am going to look for his piano music.
I love your works!!! I really do lolol! I know it may be weird but I am so inspired! I can't wait to get my first sock down lol. It's so intimidating but you make it look so easy! I need a knit along for beginners or something lolol. Thank you so much❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for your episode. You inspire me with your spinning. I have just begun spinning and have to learn how not to over spin it. I had to smile when you mentioned Sturgis, Michigan as my family had a summer home on Lake Altrich (I’m not sure if I am spelling that correctly)! It brought back fond memories of childhood. I also have to say I love listening to you because I hear the “Chicago” in your voice which, again, brings me back to my own childhood in a Chicago suburb. I do hope you understand that is a wonderful quality in your voice to me! 🤗
I’m still watching, and I will watch again. Gorgeous cardigans. So smart to buy pattern once and knit multiple times! If I were you, I would knit a yoke/cowl for the cranberry Felix before I used yarn for a hat. You have quite a few hats in your portfolio, but I don’t remember cowl. Since Felix has a big neck opening a cowl would be practical … then a hat, mitts, socks… My gosh you’re so productive 😮 I’m so glad you found your local knitting group!
mohair is such a joy to spin and I have experimented blending with merino for socks and the heel wore through very quickly, so am going to try with some gotland. Toe up is my preference as I don't like doing kitchener, , Highly recommend looking up Jona, Purl Together, in her extensive playlist is a tutorial for toe up, For your forest sweater, to me the green rather than the teal would make a more subdued combination, Look forward to your videos for all the yarny delights and the piano was a real treat this time.
Beautiful makes Lisa. Your hot cocoa socks are amazing! The Sofie shawl is nice and I have some beautiful Merino handspun I would like to use for it. Enjoy the sun 🌞
I’ve so enjoyed this video, again - thank you, Lisa. You offer so much interest and Joy to us all, and always so beautifully put together. I am thrilled you are knitting the Skogafjall jumper…I knit it a few years ago, before I knew anything about trying things on etc, and when I was unwell… I made it in the same colours/yarn as the pattern and it is lovely. The only problem is…it is literally a dress on me🙈 - it’s great with leggings and I always wear something underneath, but it’s wonderful on those freezing days! I look forward to seeing yours take shape😊
Hi Beverley! I noticed with the Skigafjall sweater the length is a bit long. I knit mine to 18 in before joining the sleeves. Someone mentioned that seemed kind of long. Oh well… I am working I. The fun color work now and will give an update on the next video which I plan to put out this weekend. I hope you’re doing well and staying warm and cosy this February 🥰
Hello Lisa, and thank you so much for the mention, it was really unexpected (and the first time !). Contrast is a beautiful book, and you are the second person wanting to knit the Pathway shawl (the first one was a colleague from another Univ I have regular online meetings with, she fell in love with it on screen too and she will make it soon). My sons scarves were Silata by Marie-Amelie Designs, from her "Ensemble" book. She stopped designing a couple years back, making all of her patterns free on Ravelry. The closest I could find is her Silene scarf pattern on Ravelry, Silata is not available in a digital format. Same kind of stitch motif, in a much lighter yarn (Silata is in DK). I really enjoy your videos, I do not spin and will venture into the sock world for the first time soon, so they are very educational and inspirational for me. I really enjoy when people are true to themselves, sharing their experiences and not in the canned format you can find about everywhere. You do contribute to my happiness when I watch your videos ❤
Hello Isabelle! I am so happy to see you here. Your podcasts are very genuine as well. I feel like I am sitting with a friend chatting as I listen. Take care and have a great week. 🥰
I looove those blues and greens! I, too, felt the ends of Léttlopi together, but I treat it like a single and open up the twist to not break the fibre but to pull it apart gently, so I can wrap the ends around each other and imitate them being spun as one contiuous thread. It might be slightly thicker, but Léttlopi varies in thickness anyways.
I did my first toe-up socks with the fleegle heel too and it worked out really well. Definitely recommend it! Top tip is to do a pair in some heavier weight yarn first to get your head around the technique.
Thank you so much for a wonderful episode Lisa❤ Your handspun cardigan is just sooo inspiring! I'm so inspired to at least attempt to spin enough for a cardigan or jumper. I've been running away to my studio on nights i can to do some spinning.and tonight i was able to finish some plying and catch up on your podcast. Can't wait to see your finished Lopapeysa too! I find that lettlopi next to skin can be a bit coarser feeling depending on the temperature outdoors. If it's bitterly cold it's like the the lettlopi loses it's toothiness and softens up a bit. Odd but that's how I've experienced it. With plotulopi i can wear it next to skin any time. Thank you for the podcast recommendation! Sounds like my cup of tea and I've put Isabelle's podcast on my que. Sending you best wishes and warmth and hoping you're continuing to have some sunny weather where you are❤
Oh, you and I seem to like the same kind of music. Loving Ola Gjielo after your recommendation. I've been listening for years to a cellist Sheku Kanneh Mason, but even more so recently and lots while spinning. He just speaks to me at every single level. And I'm sure you've already heard of Einaudi as he seems to have become very popular recently. ❤
Thanks for all the updates. I really like the wine coloured cardigan! Also, Ola Gjeilo is my favourite, there is a lot of his music on RUclips, I will try to look for his piano sheet music. All the best for the year 2024🌼
Thank you, Lisa! Got the Travelers Shawl pattern too, what a great idea for some of my handspun yarns. Tried to find the Contrasts book, but it's all gone and too expensive to ordered it from another continent. However, there's also a digital download option, which at 41 bucks, again, it's too expensive for me
I’ll definitely check out Ola’s music - especially to see how it might lie on the harp - or for harp ensemble. Thanks for the share. And bravo to you for making music part of your joyful activities. Yours in Gratitude
What an inspiring video!. You got so much done since last time. Both of your cardigans are so beautiful. That Lilac does look really good on you. Glad the tip about the needle size of your hot chocolate socks worked out for you. They came out beautiful. Now I want a pair too! I love the leather buttons on your red cardi. Also, what amazing fiber choices and colours for your sock spin along project. That green and blue (or purple 😅) mohair looks so pretty, reminds me of the neck of a mallard. Re. toe up sock; my hesitation would be that it would be harder to replace the toe, which is the place I am most likely to get a hole. Often I just replace the whole toe if that happens. But I am curious to hear how it works out for you! Oh, and I had to smile as was watching this wearing my silversmith cardigan, which was also designed by Meiju KP! ❤
I think for these socks I’ll do my usual heel flap and gusset, but I am intrigues by toe up methods. That’s another great top regarding the toe. Thanks for coming back and visiting. 🥰
Hi Lisa! So good to see you again and hear about your plans and see your lovely creations. I especially loved the pink “geranium” fiber and funnily enough I had just been drooling over some hand dyed stuff with similar colors. It’s the same bright pink & orange sorbet color. Such a happy color combo for spring!
I love your bright pink for the sock spin-along. Last year I spun undyed Southdown and mohair (separately and 2-ply) for socks on spindle. I only held the mohair double at the heel and at the ball of foot/toe. They really are warm and comfortable socks and they fit so well. I think you’ll really enjoy that blend. And your cardigans are lovely! It was good to see your notification when I got back from my fiber art guild meeting today! I hope you’re well, Lisa.
Hello Leslie! Thanks for sharing how you knit your spindle spun socksI was thinking an extra strand of mohair at the high stress points would be a good idea and you’ve confirmed it. The thing with socks is that I struggle to spin thin. Even my 2 ply Southdown seems pretty thick. I’ll have to experiment with plying one of each. I’m so lucky to have such kind and experience knitters here. Many blessing to you and your family this coming Spring. 🌷
@@SoulfulSpinning I make a lot of socks with fewer stitches and larger needles for boot socks and slipper socks. In fact I rarely wear my hand knit socks with normal shoes, so a little bit thicker yarn doesn’t bother me. But I understand if you’re trying to get it down to a total of a fingering weight it can be a little challenging. I pray you and yours are safe and healthy as well! (I have a sister- and brother-in-law living in the West Bank.)
I made a sweater with plutolopi held double and I love it. It seems much softer to me than the lettlopi. I do love a rustic wool: Icelandic is so warm and light.
So sad to hear that Gord Lendrum is not going to be making wheels! I have one of the 25th anniversary wheels and I was hoping to get a 50th anniversary wheel.
Hi Lisa, I hope I am spelling your name correctly? I could not find it in your bio or channel information. Thank you again for a wonderfully enjoyable video. I especially enjoyed the solo piano piece. Please do more of that. God Bless.
Hot cocoa socks!! How fun. I'm burned out on colorwork and decided not to do any this year, so will live vicariously through the colorwork of others... I don't mean to be a complainer, but if we're taking a vote I really like your original location better. That room had more character, or color, or something? All of that?
My original location has more warm wood tones and is closer to the window. I have limited space and it’s fun experimenting. Thanks for continuing to come back for new videos! 💕
I found something interesting to share for every level knitter. Specially for color work. I followed the pattern in Ravelry called Strange Brew, on the bottom there was a section with the link worth checking; >Helpful Tutorials Fair Isle Tips and Tricks
I think both Felixes look good on you! 🎉. Hello from a fellow 63-yo knitter, I’m in WA, near Canada. PS are you sure you want the colorwork sweater to be 18” from the underarms? That seems really long. 🤷🏼♀️
I played for a few years as a child then let it go many years, decades actually only playing sporadically over the years. I even thought of giving away my piano!During the lockdown I was inspired to play again. Now I play everyday! Just for fun. It’s so enriching and good for my brain. 😆
I don't like toe-up socks. You can start the cuff-down socks with a provisional cast-on on the ankle, so you can knit the sock and then come back and knit upwards as long as you have yarn.
Brilliant!!! I learned cuff down but did go down the toe up route when I acquired self-striping yarn. But I’m partial to cuff down and actually love knitting a heel flap and gusset. I will definitely use a provisional cast on in the future! Thanks for sharing a great idea!!!
I just found your podcast link on Isabelle's podcast. I also like to watch podcasts that are 1 hourish long. I am coming to you from Norway (I lived in Chicago for about 10 years, moved back to Norway when I was 13 years old). Your pronunciation of Gjeilo was correct, the G is silent. I haven't heard of him. I'll have to check him out too. 🧶Happy knitting
Beautiful sweaters!! And great buttons!! Fear not, I’ve heard that another great company has shown interest in buying his company :-))). And I just lucked in and was able to buy a new Lendrum which had been delayed due to Covid. I thought it might be too tall for this 4’10.5” short lady - but it’s grrreat. My Saxony wheel looks like an old Ashford Elizabeth - but it’s only a single treadle, but double XX (what’s the word - has one band that twists to be used as 2 bands). So, I need to get used to the Scotch tension and then I’ll be spinning up some nice wool / alpaca / silk / merino combinations to weave a scarf for a friend’s 60th birthday Jan 6/25. I saw a pattern in an old weaving magazine which will have RStrauss (composer Richard Strauss) repeats as the warp. Then, the weft will possibly be repeats (with a couple of neutral threads between each repeat) of either Spring / Summer / Autumn / Winter OR 4 Last Songs, which might be easier ;-}}. I’m inspired by your picking up old projects - the musical scarf is about 18 or 19 years in the languishing pile). In between sessions of spinning for that project, I’m knitting Dee OKeefe’s “Tristano” shawl - another musical project which was put aside because I had to re-start it 7 times and once I got going, something else went wrong. Argh! I do have a life line in the shawl, but it’s quite a few rows back. And the rows are loooong!!! I think I’m almost ready to sit down with a clear mind and just back up a twitch and then keep going. It’s a gorgeous hand dyed fibre in alpaca/silk from Expression Fibre Arts in a really vibrant “candy apple” which is similar to a burnt orange. O, yum. It’s for my younger niece for a BIG birthday and Christmas gift. OK, back to your video. Yours in Gratitude

Loved the cardigans and socks! Thanks for the great tip about how to make the stitches pop when doing colourwork!
I am so now inspired to have a go at spinning for socks. It will be another small step in my journey towards a 100% plastic free wardrobe 😀
I'm so glad you were brave and shared your piano playing with us. Love your knits and your spins. Happy creating 💚🧶💚
Oh, I just got to the end. Thank you for the music recommendation, that's lovely.

I found something interesting to share for every level knitter. Specially for color work. I followed the pattern in Ravelry called Strange Brew, on the bottom there was a section with the link worth checking;

I’ve heard great things about that pattern. Thank you!
I think both Felixes look good on you! 🎉. Hello from a fellow 63-yo knitter, I’m in WA, near Canada.
PS are you sure you want the colorwork sweater to be 18” from the underarms? That seems really long. 🤷🏼♀️
Yes, the 4th size specifies 18 in. I’ll have to try it on. It does look long on some of the knitters in Ravelry…🤔
Thank you!
Have you finished the geometric shawl by Stephen West? I’m just starting clue 4
No, it’s still in time out.
How long have you been playing the piano?
I played for a few years as a child then let it go many years, decades actually only playing sporadically over the years. I even thought of giving away my piano!During the lockdown I was inspired to play again. Now I play everyday! Just for fun. It’s so enriching and good for my brain. 😆
The 3 colours, not the brown. Teal, greyish beige, golden heather. Your hand spun sweater is beautiful.
I am working the color work now with the teal! Thank you!
I don't like toe-up socks. You can start the cuff-down socks with a provisional cast-on on the ankle, so you can knit the sock and then come back and knit upwards as long as you have yarn.
What a brilliant idea! I prefer cuff down too and I don’t mind grafting the toe. Many thanks!
Brilliant!!! I learned cuff down but did go down the toe up route when I acquired self-striping yarn. But I’m partial to cuff down and actually love knitting a heel flap and gusset. I will definitely use a provisional cast on in the future! Thanks for sharing a great idea!!!
i would try a kal with you.
Yours in Gratitude
the spin you show just before the book blue and green I think has me thinking of jewel tone colors.
