I’ve heard great reviews about the Tomorrow book and it is on my wish list at the library. The Great GATSBY book I read years ago with book club, I don’t remember thinking it was wonderful, movie was just okay.

Your Felix cardigans are beautiful. The firefly colorway is perfect with your dress, I love the colors! Your second Felix is beautiful as well! You are so talented with your knitting and sewing. To wear an outfit that was made completely by you must be a wonderful feeling! I have never read the Great Gatsby but have heard from a few people who have, that it leaves them with a similar feeling to yours. I would like to read it because it is a classic. I

Sarah your outfit is gorgeous! I love the colours, especially the dress fabric. I was a GCSE English teacher and the book list we had to choose from is dictated by government (and is a very political choice). It made me despair! I had some students who had a reading age of 9 at the actual age of 14 and I was expected to teach them literature that was not only beyond their ability to grasp but also had absolutely no correlation to their lives. Its a factor in why so many students have behavioural issues. I wish more trust was given to teachers. Anyway I'll get off my soapbox 😂. Thank you for another great podcast. Take care, Adele 💚

I had to read Great Gatsby in high school too (was in NSW Australia) I remember I found it very striking at the time. It challenged my opinion and understanding of the super rich. My 1st incounter of concept 'privilege'. It's timeless, I think, as such behaviour doesn't change and that is relatable at any generation
Who ever has was or wasn't, the story stand apart as a commentary on greed and privilege.
I was about 16 at the time, a huge reader. It was like none of the books I was into. But I can still remember reading it and feeling impacted. But that was in the mid 90s

I have the Felix jumper pattern but haven’t managed to knit it yet but now I think I will get the cardigan pattern too as I would probably get more wear out of it. Both your cardigan and your dress are lovely. They make a perfect set. Great Gatsby: I had to read it in high school. I also saw the movie with Robert Redford in it. I don't really remember it, so that might make you feel a bit better. Your daughter may have to read it, but many of those have to reads don't stay with us.

I have just finished listening to The Authenticity Project following your recommendation. I really enjoyed it, the way it was written from the perspective of each of the characters and also the sentiments behind it. I volunteered to run an Art Group for several years, in my village when I retired. It was such a lifeline for many who lived alone so the book really struck a chord with me.
I would like to recommend another book which I think you will really enjoy. It is on the free audible Library Borrowbox and is called "The vanishing of Margaret Small" by Neil Alexander. Thank you.

For books, I feel like I often say this after your videos, but Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow is on my TBR list. I have heard so many good things about it. Gatsby is often taught in the US as well and I am sure that I read it but don’t remember if I liked it or not at the time. I have seen both the Robert Redford and Leonardo adaptations and enjoyed them.

I enjoyed the story a detective novel and a bit different for me. I usually like family, people stories. I like Sally Hepworth, Cathy Kelly , Trish Stringer and Amanda prowes novels. I love both your Felix cardis. And I am so impressed that you are brave enough to put yarns together when you may be short for a project --- and then it all works out beautifully! That is a skill I aspire to. I haven't read Gatsby but did watch the movie and did not enjoy it at all. I would use the word dreary to describe it. It will be interesting to see what your daughter thinks.
Hi Jane. Yes dreary is a good word to describe the GG. Honestly a lot of my makes are trial and error. I just try and make do with what I’ve got and if it works I’m pleased. I love my felix’s a lot and have a 3rd one planned 😊

I am in complete agreement with you about The Great Gatsby - I disliked everything about it and can’t understand why it has become a “classic” - nor why anyone would put it onto an English syllabus!

Your outfit Sarah looks really beautiful & you must have got so much satisfaction knowing that you have completely made it all yourself. I love your cardigans so much that I’m really getting enthused to try to make one myself. However I have never knitted a neck down jumper or cardigan so I’m very nervous about trying it. I know you mentioned that it is very easy, but you crochet & knit so beautifully that what is easy to you, may not be easy to me 🥵. The use of matching up yarn that you have in your stash is amazing as it all looks as if you have bought it specially 👏. I also can’t believe how much you get done as you hold down a very stressful job & have a family to look after as well & you turn out so much craft. You should feel so very proud of yourself!! You are mainly knitting and purling back and forth. Apart from some short rows at the back (which I always have to look at RUclips to remind me) and some yarn overs to make the holes on the raglan, it’s a lovely straightforward pattern. 😊

Hi Sarah, I love your Felix cardigan and it matches perfectly with your dress and the turquoise speckles in the main yarn match perfectly with the stripey yarn. I’m going to follow up your book recommendations and see if our library has them. I always take a screen shot of book recommendations and save them in an album and then it’s easier to look on my phone for them in the library. 😊

The dress goes beautifully with your Felix cardi! I’ve had this cardi and the jumper in my Ravelry queue forever so im now going have a go on your recommendation, thankyou. I’ll look out for the first two books you mentioned but I’m with you all the way with The Great Gatsby, just couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about and didn’t like any of the characters.

Your cardigan looks amazing, I just finished a love note and blocked it like yours it looked massive, I finished it off in the dryer and it came out perfect.
I am tempted to make a Felix too I have completed the sweater and love it, but picking up a neckband and button band totally intimidates me .🤷🏼♀
Hi Deborah. I have the love note on my to make list. Thank goodness for the dryer. Don’t be put off by the button and neck band. It’s explained well and came out perfect both times. You just need to ensure you have the same number of stitches on both sides. 😊

Did you need to adjust anything to use DK for the Felix cardigan? The pattern calls for aran but I would prefer DK for a cardigan.

Your first Felix is so beautiful! And Felix #2 is shaping up to be gorgeous as well. Thanks for the book recommendations; they have been added to my list in Goodreads. I've never understood what the hype is all about for Gatsby either. The characters all seem like selfish morons to me, just my opinion. :)
