I'm an actor in New Mexico and it's brutal here. Can't even imagine LA. I've come to find out that it's really not even about how "talented" you are to catch casting directors attention with your auditions. SOO much of this industry is networking, if you don't know the right people and aren't represented by an agent that has a very good relationship with local casting directors it's gonna be endless rejection. Or more so you probably won't even get noticed. If only we could all be trust-fund babies so we could focus 100 percent on acting instead of working full time jobs to pay the bills am I right haha!
Nathan green that’s not true to get noticed you need to have a vibe and networking is all about how cool you are socially , make some friends take them out for beer be human
Just being in my acting classes reignites my excitement for acting! Law of attraction! Surrounded by like-minded individuals who share a common interest. Jumping out of my comfort zone... all of it! It's a fun process, too.
The importance of going to classes cannot be stressed enough honestly. You'll accomplish 3 main things by going to classes: 1. You make connections (these can come in handy down the road or immediately believe it or not) 2. You keep your skills sharpened (aside from doing something you love) 3. You show agents that you take your education and ongoing education seriously. If I were to give 3 tips they would be the following" 1. Keep on going to classes 2. Make and keep up with your connections. 3. Participate in small to large projects as well as develop ones of your own. (I.e. student films, independent shorts, and feature length, and so on) This last tip YOU have to hustle to make it happen. YOU have to keep on networking. YOU have to reach out to folks, YOU have to submit for projects all over the place. YOU might have to develop your own projects small or large to get the wheel going. Don't even think about Union before you go through these tips Excellent video.
